Character Yamou

Yamou

Scourge of the Vondoon

Yamou was a scion of the Hyam tribe of Vondoon on Endor. It was an ancient and powerful tribe, controling key rivers and forest canopies allowing them to control a large jungle realm that encompassed the many species of Endor. As a result, the Hyam were simultaneously hegemonic stewards over a large portion of Endor as well as embattled from all sides by more expansionist tribes and species that wished to move in on the isolationist tribe. As a junior heir of the family and a force-sensitive, Yamou was put on the path to be a Warden of the tribes, but his career was cut short when he grew too ambitious, being involved in a succession dispute that forced him to the sidelines of the tribe's conservative politics. Frustrated with what he saw as the decay and ossification of the tribe, Yamou de facto exiled himself from the clan to gather information and knowledge from the other tribes.

When the First Order took control of the planet, Yamou took an interest in the outsiders and independently made contact with the First Order's Penitentiary facility, working for them as a sort of intermediary between the facility's commanders and the native species that looked in fear at the newcomers. Over time, Yamou became a sort of trader, providing raw foodstuffs, spices and other key materials from the jungle to the ever-expanding Penitentiary in return for industrial goods sold to the natives of Endor.

During this time, Yamou also came into contact with the Knights of Ren and became exposed to the First Order's politics and philosophies. He found in them a fascinating alignment with his ideas of modernising and expanding his tribe, to change the passive Vondoon into an efficient, united polity able to defend itself from outsiders and expand at will to impose order and control. Yamou even began to dabble in the Knights' "magic", combining his Warden skills with that of the Ren.

Yamou's technological meddling eventually caused a series of political shocks in the isolationist of Endor's native species, especially his native tribe. The Hyam recalled him to answer for his actions in breaking the isolationist policy of the Vondoon (as well as introducing disruptive tech into their society through his trade). When he returned, the inquiry turned into a full-fledged political debate. Though Yamou swayed many Vondoon, the tribe's elders quickly caught on to the potential destabilisation of his actions and rhetoric and were able to entrap Yamou with a charge of contempt against tradition and incitement of rebellion.

Fighting soon broke out, and after a few days of bloody combat between the factions of the tribe, Yamou was injured and captured, summarily sentenced to have his mind 'cleaned' by the Wardens so as to serve as an example. Placed into temporary 'soul stasis' in the Netherworld until the civil war could be wrapped up, Yamou was instead frozen in the Netherworld for decades as his tribe fell apart with no one to come punish him. Trapped and boiling with hatred, Yamou's mind has recently reached out to free himself in the aftershocks of recent events in the Force...
