  • Crew Living Areas
    • (Every sector of the ship will have crew quarters and a mess hall. A gym and lounge is included between every two sectors.)
      • Mess Hall
      • Crew Quarters: Normally shared by 6 crew members with a shared bathroom and kitchenette.
      • Recreational Areas (gyms, break rooms, communal social areas)
  • Officer’s Quarters
    • Separated into 3 main areas of the ship, the officer’s quarters are larger than the crew quarters, each one a mini apartment with a separate lounge, bedroom and bathroom.
  • Captain’s Quarters
    • A larger apartment with a separate bedroom, bathroom, dining room, lounge/office and steward’s room and pantry/kitchen.
  • Droid Areas
    • Engineering/Repair Droids stored all over the ship to act as damage control.
      • Repair Workshops
      • Droid storage
  • Internal Defenses and Security
    • The Ship’s Marines maintain the primary responsibility for the ship’s security.
      • A wide spead Sensor network allows the marines assisted by the ship’s AI to keep track of the comings and goings aboard the ship.
      • Retractable Blaster Turrets covering sensitive areas of the ship (Bridge, Engineering, Armouries, CIC, hangars)
      • Turdaium Blast Doors
        • Designed to seal off a section of a ship from intruders, fire or exposure to the vacuum of space.
      • Brig
      • Marine Country
        • The section of the ship nearest the hangars is dedicated to the Marines, allowing them to deploy off ship, or to support the ship against boarding as needed
        • Gun Range
        • Workshops for Weapons and Armour
        • Primary Amoury
          • Containing the bulk of weapons and armour aboard the ship
        • Secondary Armouries
        • Cap Drains
  • Engineering
  • Command and Control
    • Bridge:
      • The bridge is located in the centre of the ship, well protected from enemy attacks.
      • The captain has an office located just off the bridge where they can attend to paperwork or meetings.
    • CIC/Auxiliary Bridge:
      • The CIC is set towards the front of the ship and functions as a data analysis centre that can also be utilised as an emergency command centre if required.
      • There is an office located just off the CIC for the use of the ship’s executive officer
  • Medbay
    • Located equidistant between engineering and the hangars the medbay is the territory of the ship's doctor, tasked with healing the crew's injuries and illnesses.
      • Infirmary
        • A general area where most crew are seen to treat minor ailments, bumps and bruises.
      • Operating theatres
        • Dedicated rooms which can be sealed against outside particulates if needed for more serious injuries or operations. Can also double as quarantine rooms.
      • Doctor's Office
        • The room for the chief doctor to perform their paperwork while keeping an eye on the infirmary and their patients.

Strengths.png

  • Automated:
    • Like many vessels produced by Locke and Key Mechanics the Dreadwolf is heavily automated, relying on the Aesir System and a wide variety of droids to allow the ship to run with a minimal crew.
  • Knife Fighter:
    • The Direwolf is designed to unleash a maelstrom of damage to close-range targets, making the most of its ability to sneak up on its targets to tear into them before vanishing. The ship lacks long-range weapons in favour of a close-range payload with a high upfront damage.
  • Over here, no over here:
    • Normally ships are unable to re-engage their stealth systems after firing, providing them with the element of surprise only with their initial attack. The Dreadwolf though uses the same device used by the Tie Phantom to shut off the cloaking device just before it is fired. This allows the Direwolf to slip in and out of stealth continuously to maintain the element of surprise on its enemies.
  • Reverse Thrusters:
    • Due to the gravitational technology which provides the Direwolf's Huabing engines are designed to let it drive in reverse or move forward, or indeed from side to side with equal capability.
  • I see you:
    • The inclusion of the Quantum Radar allows the Direwolf to act as a hunter, not just of normal ships but also stealthed ones. A Quantum Radar keeps a record of the quantum signature of any active sensor pulse sent out and is able to compare return signals against it. This allows it to spot the minute reflections or alterations that occur when dealing with a stealthed vessel, as well as allowing it to cut through enemy ECM by ignoring any return that doesn’t match its recorded signature.
  • Modular Design:
    • The Direwolf-Class Cruisers were the first built under Locke and Key's new modular design, partitioning the ship into sections. Each module had inner walls of Turadium all well as blast doors that could seal them off in the even of boarding actions or a catastrophic hull breach. This way, the designers believed that the ships could survive damage that would have destroyed weaker ships and keep the crew alive.

Weaknesses.png

  • Small Crew:
    • Due to the heavy automation of the Direwolf, the crew complement is surprisingly tiny. Barely enough, in fact, to manage the critical system on the ship should the automation be neutralized.
  • What Shield:
    • The Direwolf Class Cruiser is designed as a hunter, a killer, a purely offensive ship that can prey on unsuspecting military and civilian ships. While fast and agile, its most terrifying trait is its ability to appear from stealth firing before vanishing only to appear again at a different angle. In order to do this, to be able to continuously fire through stealth the Direwolf comes with multiple sets of stealth field transmitters. However, in order to fit them on the ship, the designers were forced to cut back on the number of shield emitters, resulting in the ships weaker defenses.

Description.png

Conflict was a constant in the galaxy, from the wars which shaped and reshaped the galactic map, to pirates who are a historical constant, preying on merchants as they carry their cargos from system to system. While many ships exist which serve to act as a mailed fist, showing the military might of governments and mercenary groups as they sail through the dark of space flying their flag for all to see.
But sometimes a mail fist isn’t the best choice, sometimes you need a scalpel for a more precise mission.
The Direwolf class is just such a scalpel.
Designated as a fast attack cruiser, the Direwolf is designed to obliterate anything smaller than it, and outrun anything larger. Its speed and firepower makes it equally at home cleaning up damaged ships on a battlefield, harassing shipping and convoys or scouting and deployment of special forces troops behind enemy lines.
The Direwolf’s speed and firepower is enhanced by a cloaking device, similar to that found on the Tie Phantom, allowing it to appear, attack and then vanish again. Combined with the Huabing Drive’s ability to move in all dimensions that allows the Dreadwolf to attack from anywhere, providing both a psychological and tactical edge. The stealth drive also allows the Dreadwolf to push into normally protected territory, appearing to destroy a ship before vanishing into stealth again.
Like all Locke and Key Mechanics ships the Direwolf is designed around heavy automation, allowing it to pack the maximum punch with the minimum cost. While a plethora of droids helped to run the ship, the key to this heavy automation was Locke and Key’s signature Aesir Network. A set of powerful neural processors help to automate the majority of the ship’s systems, managed by an AI who would interface with the crew. Thanks to the Aesir, a significantly smaller team was required to manage the ship than would normally be expected for a ship the size of the Direwolf.
The processing units were each responsible for managing one area of the ship, from weapons, to sensors, to security to engineering, and were directly responsible for handling the systems and instructing any droids assigned to the area. The crew would interface directly with the AI, who would then parse the data down to the specialised brain in question before answering for them. Data from the sensors and systems embedded around the ship was transmitted back to the central core located in the engineering section by optical fibres, allowing for a faster and more secure means of data transport. The combination of the Aesir and droids meant the Dreadwolf class could be deployed without a large crew.
Built with the same dagger-shaped design of the eponymous Stardestroyer the Direwolf Cruisers were any merchant or small ships nightmare when they appear, striking fear into their enemies, just like the Star Destroyers of old.
