  • Allows for the automation of the systems of a ship, larger vehicle, building or base.
  • Specialised droid brains manage specific systems, allowing the use of a brain that if focused on one thing and is able to learn and develop along that specific path.

  • Allows for enhanced automation of system on a starship, larger ground vehicle of facility.
  • Can learn from experiences and work through problems to find the optimal solution.

  • EMP/Ion: With so many of the system controls centralized in one place the system is incredibly vulnerable to and EMP or ION based attack which can knock out a multitude of systems with one attack.
  • Virus/Slicing: Given the connected nature of the system if one system is compromised then a slicer or virus has easy access to the rest of the ship, which would not be the case in a normal shipboard setup.

Sometimes revisiting the past is the best way to develop technologies for the future, drawing on ideas and techniques you had thought of before. The Aesir System was one such technology, originally designed to be used on The Sleipnir, a personal transport built for Jedi Asaraa Vaashe. The system is designed to allow a ship to operate with a minimal crew complement by automating most of the ship’s functions. The network operates by slaving a series of specialised droid brains together under the control of a master AI. The specialised droid brains are responsible for specific functions of the ship as follows (when deployed as part of a non:

  • Piloting
  • Communications/ECM
  • Weapons/Tactical
  • Sensors
  • Engines/Repairs
  • Navigation
  • Services/Droids
  • Auxiliary
While many ships, such as the Millennium Falcon, make use of droid brains to help run their systems the Aesir Network differs in the addition of the managing artificial intelligence which sits at the apex of the network managing and coordinating the other droid brains. (OOC: For an idea of how it works think of the RedvsBlue episode where the multiple AI fragments are each managing a separate part of Texas’ armour). The system works in the same way, each specific ship's system is controlled by a specialised droid brain, one incapable of speech, only capable of performing their set tasks, controlling the various ships functions. The key to the system is the brain which sits at the apex of the system. The AI’s primary function is to manage the other droid brains running the ship and to provide an interface for the ship’s user.
While it might not be the pilot, the master brain provides the pilot with the sensor data and plots the course for him to follow. While it might not control the ECM, it provides the oversight and control setting up the ECM. While the Aesir network is more than capable of running the ship by itself, or with minimal human interaction, it lacks the insight and intuition an organic crew can provide. However, thanks to the networked structure and the central brain, the system is more capable than a straight set of hardwired droid brains would be. The central brain can be accessed remotely, allowing instructions to be delivered, or the ship to be operated by someone who has the correct access codes.
The Aesir network is stored in a secured vault, generally located in a secured area of the ship such as the bridge, engineering or an armoury.
