NAME:
  • Daro Roz’yrn
  • Nickname: “Bad Dog”
FACTION:
RANK: Marine Sergeant

SPECIES: Dornean

AGE: 170 standard years

SEX: Male

HEIGHT: 178 cm (5’10”)

WEIGHT: 104 kg (230 lbs)

EYES: Icy Blue

HAIR: Entirely facial. White-purple.

SKIN: Purple

FORCE SENSITIVE: No

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
  • Skilled Soldier - being a military man his whole life of 170 years, he lives and breaths a martial lifestyle.
  • Amusing Leadership Charisma - having survived over a century of military living, he has an aversion to taking things too seriously. This has given him a reputation for being the “fun guy” to serve under, which wins him a lot of loyalty.
  • Tongue of durasteel - he is not really a wordsmith, per se, and he resorts to military dogma when under diplomatic scrutiny. Politics irritate him to no end.
  • Impatient - he’s not stupid, but he doesn’t like it when things are “over complicated”. When things tend to look convoluted and tedious, his “keep it simple stupid” mantra takes over and he’ll likely resort to a shortcut. He’s ok with waiting for things though. That’s just life in the military as he knows it.C
APPEARANCE:
  • Bushy thick quills on the eyebrows and the beard
  • Ivory tusks, signature of his “sub-race”
  • Bald head
  • Stalky build
  • Few scars (every decade or so he gets them removed out of “boredom”, but don’t tell anyone)
  • Currently missing the left arm, waiting on a certain replacement already in the works.

BIOGRAPHY:

"Daro, there are three kinds of fighters in the galaxy. Warriors, Knights, and Soldiers.

"The Warrior fights for gain. Sometimes the gains are a reputation, glory, advancement, or money. To the Warrior, fighting is a way of life.

" The Knight, fights to embody the will of a higher power. This higher power can be a mere code of honor, a religious deity, or a sovereign that the knight believes in. To a knight, fighting is a means of humble servitude.

"To the Soldier, fighting is about sacrifice. To a soldier, often times, the sacrifices are to a blind purpose with no real meaning to the individual. But the soldier knows his identity and he resigns to the fact that his identity is a gift. In return for this gift, he accepts that this identity could potentially cost him everything. To a soldier, fighting is simply what he is with almost no explanation."

~Jedi Knight Halleed. 844 ABY~

705 - 835 ABY,

Daro Roz’yrn was born right on the tail end of the devastating gulag virus pandemic, just before his parents died from the terrible disease. Being an orphan on Dornea, he was basically coerced into joining the Dornean Navy as a marine during his formative years in the orphanage. To Daro, his path in life was clear in his mind from the very beginning.

Life in the Dominus Sector, surrounding Dornea, was extremely harsh in the era when Daro Roz’yrn was raised. Even with the gulag plague seceding from the galaxy, the fallout after that period was chaotic beyond comprehension. Amateur warlords, rampant pirates, religious zealots, and threats beyond reasoning were constantly harassing the safety of the people in this sector. At this time, it was every planet for itself and there was almost no communication between worlds. Dornea was left to stabilize this region entirely on its own. Life expectancy in the navy and the marine corps was not long at all and the age for getting drafted got younger and younger.

Daro, being an orphan, was given the opportunity to enlist much younger than the legal drafting age, and he did so with enthusiasm. He joined as a scraggly early adolescent and embraced the marine lifestyle with total abandon. He found family, purpose, routine, skills, and a home. The Dornean Navy gave him everything and he was fully committed to it, mind, body, and soul.

His training was cut short and he was thrust into desperate battle. In his first battle, he experienced the confusion and ignorance that came from the nameless foes that plagued his home world. He tried his absolute best to rely on his training, but his time at the training academy had been cut short, so he proceeded forward with no real clue what to do. He stayed close to the other troops and simply focused on not dying. Many of the troops around him died meaninglessly, but something about the experience taught him the importance of comradeship. He learned as much as he could by watching and carefully picked the right times to ask questions. It did not take him long to learn the art of war through the crucible of desperate battles.

He developed a natural talent for war and was better than most. He was a survivor first, but being a killer was a pretty close second. He spend many many decades defending the Dominus Sector and helping the navy establish stability in the region. It was hard fought, but eventually they were able to reestablish contact with their neighbours such as Mon Calamari and Gand.

835 - 844 ABY,

Just as worlds began to rebuild communications between themselves across the galaxy, Factions began to spur up and wreak havoc. More chaos erupted, and nameless foes of every kind began to raid, maim, and despoil the Dominus Sector and the Dornea system with renewed vigor. All the work that the Dornean Navy had aimed to accomplish seemed to be undone.

Then, from somewhere within the core, a Mon Calamari Jedi Knight named Halleed arrived to help the Dornean people fight for their sector. Halleed, being just one being, went straight to the Dornean Navy and coordinated their efforts to get the sector under control.

The Jedi Halleed was given a special task force, which Daro Roz’yrn was assigned to because of his experience. Halleed, the task force, and Daro were quickly becoming renowned in the sector as the “Bad Dogs”. They won many hard battles, and Daro’s prowess was quickly noticed by Halleed.

The two became fast, good friends. They fought together. They argued often. They drank together, and joked as men do. Daro Roz’yrn was seen by the men as Halleed’s sidekick for this period of time, but between them, they didn’t see it that way. Halleed relied on Daro just as much as Daro believed in Halleed.

Then in 844 ABY, just as they were on a mission to save a refugee transport from a band of ‘nobody’ pirates, the Force abandoned Halleed during the Call Of The Void. The timing was horrible as he was in mid-battle with a dark side force-using pirate chieftain at the time. Halleed was much more heavily affected by the phenomenon than the chieftain and was easily defeated. He was the then ripped limb-by-limb while alive before Daro Roz’yrn’s eyes. The chieftain then decapitated Halleed’s head and displayed it for the entire “Bad Dog” combat unit to see.

The entire unit was demoralized, defeated, and driven out in shame. Daro Roz’yrn mentally broke at this point and left the Dornean Navy.

845 - 854 ABY,

The next nine-or-so years were a bit of a blur for Daro Roz’yrn, due to severe alcoholism. He basically tried to forget everything he had done with the Dornean Navy by throwing himself at mercenary contracts and drinking his days into near blindness. One would normally think that this would cause him to get himself killed, but he managed to keep an eye out for nasty contracts and keep to low-paying, low-risk jobs. He did odd-jobs for the Sith Empire, the First Order, the Galactic Alliance, and a swath of many other factions.

855 ABY,

At this time, Daro Roz’yrn ended up taking up a rare contract that was more than what he bargained for. It was for the Galactic Alliance, during it’s final days of war against the First Order and the Sith Empire. He was paid to provide security for some seemingly minor depot on the edge of their territory when a massive raid came and hammered the facility.

The battle was desperate and ugly, with little chance of survival. And to top it off, Daro was out of booze. He was forced to sober up for the next few days and quickly realized that he was the only fighter that was present that had experience with this kind of fighting. The more he came-to, the more he started to take charge. Suddenly, the remaining defenders managed to rally behind Daro and his crazy tactics and drive out the invaders.

During the final push, Daro Roz’yrn slipped into a bit of mania and loudly declared himself “THE LAST OF THE BAD DOGS!” as he maniacally shot a light troopship out of the air with an anti-infantry repeating light blaster. It was coincidentally the moment when everyone that was with him realized that they were winning, so the moment stood out in everyone’s mind. The nickname, “The Bad Dog” stuck to him, and that was that.

The next day, back in the core, the Galactic alliance collapsed and his famous victory was mooted. But this led Daro Roz’yrn to a realization; he didn’t actually care about who won and who lost, nor did he have to. He was a fighter. He was good at it. It defined him without reason, and for over a century he had finally learned to come to grips with that.

He never touched a bottle of booze again since that day.

856 - 866 ABY,

He left life as a mercenary behind him and returned to his homeworld of Dornea once again. He had no trouble re-enlisting as a reservist where he could work part time and live off of his previous earnings. He was only ever called to action on the odd occasion, but he was content to live life as casually as he could. He spent his free time fishing, hunting, camping, and taking little trips around his homeworld wherever war hadn’t torn up the sights.

Then, after ten years of semi-retirement, reality came knocking as the Bryn’adul invaded the entire sector. The onslaught was merciless and unparalleled. It was wanton destruction on a scale that Daro Roz’yrn could never even imagine, even in his most depraved nightmares. He fought, of course, but this was something that even he could see was hopeless. In the last century and a half of fighting, Daro knew that this was on another level.

Eventually, he resigned to the reality of the war he was fighting and decided to focus on what was most important. He rallied a movement of his own people, hundreds of millions of his race, and they managed to perform a mass exodus of his region on Dornea. There were still billions left behind, of course, but the millions that came with him were now his people.

They embarked on a strenuous journey through the stars as a rag tag caravan of hundreds of civilian cruisers. They searched for refuge for months before they came across Heath Valhoun near the Dagobah system. From there, it was a small matter of joining Heath’s empire and becoming its citizens.

866 - present day,

Once the Dornean refugees were fully enrolled in the Elysium Empire Nomadic Fleet, Daro Roz’yrn quickly and eagerly relinquished his leadership of his people to better minds in the empire. From there, it was an easy choice to join the ImperIrl Navy Marine Corps. He was assigned to the HMS Shii-Cho and has been serving there for quite some time. That is where his story truly begins…
