Grand Shepherd Burtch

Fleet Commander For The Nomadic Peoples Coalition

“You know, after 150-plus years of getting shot at for a living, not many things phase me anymore. But when it comes to the kinds of idiots that will willingly do EVA reentry drops, I’d say they take they whole kriffing cake. Therefore, if you ask me, those maniacs desperately need a pay scale review. In addition to marine corps pay, they should probably receive fighter pilot pay too because they usually get shot at by anti-starfighter emplacements while covered in reentry flames. And while they’re at it, they should probably get submariner pay too because IF they stick the landing, they are usually swimming in their own shit by then…”

SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Combat Mode - This is the configuration that is used when the wearer is involved in personal combat. The shield projects from the forearm in a shield wall and is aimed, much like an M3 Bulwark Blast Shield.
    • IMG_1562.png
  • Reentry Mode- this configuration is a one-off use feature. When the device is set to this mode, it re-routes emitted power through separate fuses and regulators that burn out at the end of its cycle. Once the shield is activated in this setting, it does not stop until the fuses burn out, and then it switches over to the one of the other three settings. In order to restore this mode for future use, the burnt out fuses and regulators must be replaced in a shop setting.
    • 5EF1D1E4-EAD3-4BC1-B6C7-59D405AD1796.jpg
  • Glider Mode- This mode offers little-to-no protection for the wearer as it refocuses the shield wall into a pair of wings, leaving the body totally exposed. These wings are insufficient for sustained flight, but they give the wearer the ability to guide their fall from great heights. This mode is often used to guide the wearer in mid-fall after the reentry mode is finished and the speed from orbit has been reduced to safe levels.
    • 159F73C9-265B-40A3-9CF8-78907FB0B171.jpg
  • Blade Mode- in this mode, the shields are focused into hard energy blades that emit from the forearms and over the back of the hands. The blades are only sharp, and don’t burn through matter like a lightsaber. The user can use the blades to stop melee attacks from metal blades and lightsabers using well-trained martial arts blocks with the forearms, but the rest of the body is exposed to attacks. In blade mode, the user sacrifices nearly all defence for short-range offence.
    • 79AB0D59-25B8-4D0E-BA8B-088E443E3334.jpg
  • OS Interface - this shield has manual buttons which are used to control the functions from the wrist, but it will also interface with the operating system on the owner’s armour suit of choice. If the suit itself has a neural interface feature, then the shield can piggyback off that control method as well.
STRENGTHS
  • Combat Protection - in combat mode, this device projects a protective wall from the forearm that defends agains most forms of combat damage.
  • Death From Above - in reentry mode and glider mode, the user is capable of entering atmosphere from orbit, then gliding to the planet’s surface below.
  • For Close Encounters - in blade mode, the shield is refocused into sharp blades that extend from the forearms over the hands and gives the owner an edge in close quarters combat.
WEAKNESSES
  • Arc Limited - In combat mode and reentry mode this shield is a forearm-projected wall-type shield, it can only provide protection from attacks in one direction at a time.
  • Burns Brightly - it is only capable of using reentry mode once per mission and once it starts, it can’t enter a different mode until it burns out the reentry fuses and regulators.
  • Like a sore thumb - when in glider mode, the shield is reformed into wings that help the wearer to more safely navigate a fall to the ground. During this time, the wings themselves have some resistances to preserve the control surfaces, but the wearer’s body is totally exposed to attack.
  • Trade Defence For Attack - in blade mode, the shield fucuses into hard energy blades that emit from the wrists and over the backs of the wearers hands. In this mode, the only parts of the body that are protected are the backs of the hands and the forearms while the rest of the body is totally unprotected.
  • Out of Gas - like all energy shields, the Fallen Angel Energy Shield deteriorates with hits. Because this shield is focused into a single wall, it lasts longer than most, but even still, once it is out of power it loses all of its functions and features.
DESCRIPTION
During the mission to rescue the twin Willow & Ivy, the girls witnessed the importance of good shields in combat. The Marines that rescued them only barely survived because of their personal shields, so the twins decided to put in a special order.

The Fallen Angel Model is designed to be versatile and unique as it protects the Holy Knights of the Navis Sacra Religion from all sorts of threats, like weapons, reentry, and falling. Lastly, the shield can be reformed into a short wrist-blade. For Holy Knights to be allowed to use this weapon on other “space-suited” opponents, for religious reasons, they must control the shield through the Angel Navis Operating System. This way, the blade is perceived as being the property of the Angel’s. This is done to preserve the Navis Sacra tenet, “only Angels shall be allowed to kill other Angels.”

This is a cool and various one!
  • The stun is not a resistance, please delete from the list.
  • The Near-Singularity/Gravity-Based attacks, my opinion is the same just like I mentioned in the previous submissions. Please, delete this one too.
  • If you want to "keep" these, simply mention them in the weaknesses.
