RefugeRespite

The First Assembly has spoken.

Refuge is overcrowded, its halls and shelters pressed thin beneath the weight of incoming families, freed captives, and displaced settlers seeking protection beneath the Farworlds Alliance banner.

Now, words must become work.

Construction crews, relief workers, pilots, medics, scouts, security teams, and volunteers have gathered to raise the first new housing zone. Prefab shelters wait in cargo stacks. Water cyclers hum beside half-built foundations. Heavy machinery carves roads through dust and stone while refugees watch from the edge of the worksite, hoping this place may become more than temporary safety.

But the frontier is never quiet.

Supplies are limited. Routes are dangerous. Not everyone trusts the Alliance yet. And where desperate people gather, trouble is rarely far behind…

WAYS TO JOIN
There is work for any willing hand.

Some move toward the rising skeletons of new homes, where prefab walls wait in cargo stacks and cranes groan above the dust. Others gather near the green-marked plots, preparing soil beds, saplings, hydroponic starters, and shade trees meant to soften the settlement before it becomes only metal and stone.

Closer to the temporary shelters, refugees wait with folded blankets, ration tins, nervous children, and names still being written into Alliance records. Along the roads and ridgelines, patrols keep watch for raiders, slavers, wildlife, theft, sabotage, or anything else drawn by the noise of construction.

No one is required to take a single path. Build, guard, tend, haul, plant, argue, comfort, complicate, or simply find a place in the dust where your character belongs.

Raise Homes

Build prefab shelters, foundations, roads, landing zones, power lines, and shared spaces.

Green Spaces

Prepare garden beds, planters, saplings, hydroponic starters, and quiet places beside the homes.

Aid Lines

Hand out water, food, medicine, blankets, tools, and help families settle into the camp.

Supply Work

Unload cargo, guide cranes, repair equipment, direct pilots, or move materials across the site.

Keep Watch

Patrol the roads, guard the workers, screen arrivals, and watch for trouble on the horizon.

Complications

Breakdowns, missing supplies, local tensions, frightened refugees, hidden hazards, or frontier trouble.

Laphisto

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
Laphisto stood in the open doorway of the LAHT gunship, the wind tugging at his hair as the transport descended toward the growing settlement below. For this mission, if it could even be called a mission, he had left his helmet aboard the carrier. There would be no battle here. No enemy fortress to assault. No Sith to hunt. Just people trying to build a life for themselves on the frontier.

Following the vote within the First Assembly, Laphisto had made a promise to the Farworlds Alliance. In truth, he had made the promise to himself as much as anyone else. The Lilaste Order had spent years fighting wars, evacuating worlds, and carrying refugees from one crisis to the next. It was easy to become trapped in a cycle of destruction. Building something lasting was far rarer.

One hundred and forty-four soldiers accompanied him, an entire company drawn from the Lilaste Order's ranks. Four LAHT gunships swept through the sky in formation while four modified AT-AE walkers descended toward the surface below. Their primary weapon systems had been removed entirely. Where massive cannons once sat now stood reinforced construction cranes capable of lifting prefab housing sections, support beams, power relays, and other heavy infrastructure.

As the gunships settled onto the landing zone, ramps dropped and soldiers immediately moved into action. Engineers established construction zones while logistics personnel organized supply manifests and designated storage areas. Equipment was unloaded with practiced efficiency, every soldier already knowing their role before their boots touched the ground.

The walkers moved first. Massive feet pressed into the dirt as construction crews guided them toward foundation sites. Their crane assemblies rotated overhead while survey teams marked future roads, utility corridors, and housing districts. It was an unusual sight. Machines designed for war now prepared to build homes.

Above them, the gunships would not remain idle for long. Once the walkers and personnel had been deployed, the transports would return to orbit where an Air'mar-class Assault Carrier waited overhead. The vessel's fabrication facilities had been redirected from military production toward civilian needs. Fabricators normally tasked with producing replacement starfighter components, ammunition, and battlefield equipment were now manufacturing structural supports, environmental systems, habitation modules, and construction materials. Every trip planetside would bring another load of supplies.

Security remained necessary. Four squads had already been assigned to perimeter patrols surrounding the construction zone. They moved through nearby ridgelines and along approach routes, maintaining overlapping fields of observation around the growing settlement. Two sniper teams occupied elevated positions overlooking the area, providing overwatch while feeding reconnaissance data back to the patrol network. The frontier was rarely as peaceful as it appeared.

The remainder of the company dispersed throughout the worksite. Some joined construction teams, helping move materials and assemble housing sections. Others worked alongside civilians unloading cargo, directing traffic, operating machinery, or establishing supply depots. Several soldiers could already be seen assisting refugee families with moving possessions and locating assigned shelters.

No distinction existed between soldier and laborer today. Everyone worked. Everyone contributed. Everyone built. Reaching up, Laphisto activated his commlink and transmitted across Alliance frequencies.

"Attention Farworlds Alliance personnel. Lilaste Order assets are now operational within the settlement zone. Transportation, engineering support, construction equipment, security forces, and cargo lift capabilities are available upon request. Should any member state require assistance, notify my personnel and we will provide what support we can."

The transmission ended as simply as it began. His gaze drifted across the settlement. Workers moved between half-finished structures. Refugees watched from temporary shelters. Cargo shuttles descended through the atmosphere carrying another wave of supplies.

Alex watched on as bulldozers leveled plots of land for housing. Nearby duracrete mixers stood by to lay the foundations as the transports carrying the prefabricated housing hovered far over head in staggered lines. It wouldn't do to crowd the work area or annoy those below. Once the foundations were down, they'd move in and use their unloading arms to simply lay out the housing into apartment blocks, stacking them according to the captains' whims or various pre-ordered layouts. Elsewhere, three other sites were undergoing a similar transformation from rolling grassland to housing development.

There was actually very little left for Alex to do as all the agreements and had been made and forms completed. So he watched on, 'supervising.' Probably set some of his people on edge, having the big boss looking over their shoulder despite his attempts to appear approachable and down-to-the-planet. But without anything to do and his people at work, he didn't want to be sitting around aboard his ship or zipping off to some far away planet. Things were happening here, he should be here even if it was just for the beginnings of this new alliance.

Laphisto Laphisto came over his earpiece as Alex took a sip of his caf. Taking his time, he swallowed a few more mouthfuls of the hot drink before pushing the reply button on the comm. "This is Director Stern. We could use some roads or paths from the four housing sites connecting them and other points of interest. Don't want civvies getting lost in their new home."

"See? Clean air, no cell. Just like I promised."

Loomi led Sevrin into one of the many pop-up greenhouses that had been established. At present the Jedi were preparing greenery to fill void spaces between housing structures. There were many reasons why living arrangements needed plant life, even if many core worlds seem to forego any in favor of maximum efficiency. Mental health was a very important factor to consider.

Sevrin, to make up for his crimes, would be working to assist.

"Now, you're gonna have a lot of work to do today, mister," Loomi told him. "We've got a lot of fresh saplings to prepare for our Agri-Corps today, and that means we need all the hands we can get. I imagine that you'll have no trouble getting a little dirt under your nails, right?"

She scooped up a pot and promptly plopped it into his hands.

"Here you are~"

"Hey you, come over here real quick!" novac called out to his t series tactical droid. Once the droid was at novacs said he handed it one of the 2 datapads he was holding. "notice anything?" he asked, the droid looked at the information for a second before putting on and on its face and shaking its head while a low beep. "I know right? who the hell organized this list, did they even organize it actually. It's a mess, how am i supposed to find anything. If you don't mind could you organize it, that'd be a huge help."

As the droid walk off to go fix the list novac used his comlink to ask kairo "hey, everything good? you where supposed to report about five minutes ago." In response kairo said "my bad, everythings good, was talking to one of the sentinels and lost track of time. sorry about that." Of course he was. Lost track of time, yea sure totally just didn't feel like not reporting in. "eh whatever it's fine, just please report back on time. I'd rather not have to worry about you." novac responded.

He'd hadn't been here long but already had most of his droids working. They where either keeping watch, helping with the plants, building, moving cargo, building, or trying to keep the refugees happy. In total he had brought 372 droids along with him, only a few where currently on watch duty.

He also had a few of his smaller, less dangerous pets to go be with the refugees for a while. His smaller droids that couldn't help with anything else where playing with some of the kids, mostly tag, one of the probe droids flying a little to high to dodge a kids fingers to not get tagged. The two LK war-x's had been stripped of weapons, they where going to be used to haul cargo but a few kids started to pet them and argue amongst themselves. One saying "Aaw it's a big metal puppy" then another going "what? its not a puppy, its a kitty, see its even purring."

Most of his droids had been assigned to cargo and building. Even if the droid was a battle droid they where still being used here, just stripped of weapons, including goliath who..."woah woah hey goliath, I know your big but watch what your doing, try not to destroy the building material please"

I am not normally one to get angry when I see people in need, but the situation here is infuriating. Do not get me wrong, I am not angry at the people, but at the situation itself. The sheer scale of the suffering is overwhelming and the resources we have here are woefully inadequate. This is the fault of no one, but it is a situation that must be rectified. These are days to which I am glad I am not alone, for there are others. I am also appreciative that my position allows me to do something about it.

I had brought enough Shepherd Class Transports, or so I had thought, to handle the logistics of moving refugees and supplies from one camp to another. The sheer magnitude of this shows me how wrong I was. There would be a need for more supplies, and people. So I requisitioned more people and supplies, Halpern responded, telling me he was on the way with the Celestial City Supercarrier to provide support.

Not too long ago, Chi'no Su had the worst weekend of her life. Being caught adrift after the Sith took her home in the core, she wandered aimlessly until the administration of her college put a bounty on her head. It was all some ploy to round up debtors and amass a labor force quickly. Fortunately Braze Braze kept to his word, and she would get to walk away from all of that.

And then he offered to take her somewhere that was far away from all of those issues. Somewhere that, if any hunter wished to make good on the bounty ever again, would not be reached. It was apparently already a place where civilians from Sacorria had gone. He mentioned Lander Stalwart, the old Senator. She remembered that his family had owned a large farm near the equator. When she actually got there she even recognized a few faces. Miss Woog, an elderly shop keeper from her town. The weird mail-speeder guy who would drink a gallon of water every time he finished dropping off all of his parcels. That was a strange time to work as a grocery clerk.

Unfortunately not anyone she really knew personally though. That being said, she had never been the best at making friends.

She had arrived on a rather inopportune day. They were low on housing and were constructing a large number of prefab structures to accommodate the influx of refugees. That meant waiting, so that's exactly what Chi'no did. She sat on one of few benches with her arms wrapped around her handbag. Just...

Waiting.

Boring as it was, it could be way worse. It was better than being slung around and told she was cargo.

Something wasn’t quite right. While helping get a few more solar panels rigged up Ko felt like he’d done all this before. Recalling similar escapades back in the agricultural corps. Working on community projects around Nubia whenever he wasn’t hoping across the world’s equatorial lines to experience an eternal growing season.

However, Ko noticed missing tools. The gonk droids that were gathered around to wait their turns charging up at the solar panels were a bit thin in number. Counting them up in his head, Kel Dor concluded that about half of them might be missing. “I’ll be right back, I’m gonna check and see if someone else might be borrowing the droids for something.” The Kel Dor said to the young jedi aspirant, Valor.

Performing a quick survey around the settlement of Respite Ko asked around to see if anyone may have had an idea as to the missing gonk droids whereabouts. The only lead he got was from a group of volunteers working on a home at the periphery of the settlement that explained that they saw a few gonk droids wander off into the woods.

Ko made his way back to Valor and spoke to echani. “It seems as though we have a pack of rouge gonk droids. I’m not sure if someone may have led them astray or if there’s a band of thieves nearby. Will you come help me find them?”

Sevrin was wary of what the young girl had said, even as he followed her into the greenhouse. His pale blue stormy gaze shifted over the rows of greenery, taking in the loamy scent of damp soil, and the soft swaying of broad leaves drinking in the softened light. He had not been to many places with living plants in any true abundance. Dantooine had been one of the few.

There was some bitter little irony in that, considering he had set fire to the hillside and forest there… and now she wanted him to plant trees here instead.

He blinked, drawn out of his thoughts as Loomi placed a baby tree into his arms. He looked down at it, taking hold of the small wrapped roots and tender stem with more care than he seemed prepared to admit aloud.

"I didn't think you'd have me gardening…" he mused.

He moved to kneel down in front of Loomi, setting the sapling down beside him for a moment and aside. Then he pulled off the rough-worn faded black canvas gi top and set the bit of cloth aside, leaving it folded in the grass. Beneath it, his frame was all lean athletic strength, built up on hard shoulders, a narrow waist, and a defined abdomen. His form was nothing but taught rippling muscles beneath that caramel colored skin. He was far from the image of some softened build of someone accustomed to peace. His body looked trained by labor, combat, hunger, and survival as every line of him looked chisled. His form did hold many odd jagged marks of varying sizes all along his torso arms and back of long since heale dover wounds from his times of fighting in the Pits.

With practiced, dexterous fingers, he drew up his raven-black hair and gathered the long locks into a loose, messy braid to keep them out of his way.

Only then did he bend forwards to pick up the sapling once more.

Sevrin paused on his knees and looked up at Loomi with those pale, storm-blue eyes. A faint smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth before he reached toward the pile of otehr small trees ready to be planted, and scooped up several saplings at once, as if one tiny tree was far too small a challenge.

"If you're going to make me atone with shrubbery," he said, "you may as well make proper use of me." He said before standing up and drawing sevral sapplings with him with ease.

"You know, you cool down more with a shirt on," Loomi noted, letting out an exhale. "That seemed very unnecessary."

The Godoan shrugged and turned to begin preparing pots of soil. They were meant to be biodegradable, and full of resources that the plants would need. As she began to use her little trowel to prep the soil, she turned back to Sevrin with a more playful smile.

"Oh, and do play nice," she told him. "Padawans from the Temple have volunteered to help as well."

CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM - UNKNOWN PLANET

The dry soil of the settlement stirred in small clouds around Vohm-Raet's enormous feet as he made his way through the camp. Each time a hammer hit a pillar or a power saw sliced through wood, the sound brought back memories of the war. The Farworlds Alliance had decided to construct these homes, and he was present to assist in lifting the heavy beams.

However, observing a family struggle to hold up a drooping tarp against the wind reminded him of all they had lost. He had seen it all previously during the Second Galactic Alliance; the Senate's never-ending discussions had allowed Darth Solipsis to dominate the galaxy for a period before he was defeated.

The memories came flooding back to him, causing his shoulders to droop. In an effort to appear less threatening to the nervous refugees, Vohm-Raet sat down on a heavy supply crate beside the depot. The crate's anti-grav coils emitted a loud whine under his considerable weight before failing entirely, causing the box to crash to the ground with a loud thud.

He was oblivious to it, dark eyes focusing on a group of small children gathered around a small fire. Absently, his large hand reached into an open supply bin next to him. A thick brick of high-calorie ration paste vanished into his palm. He peeled the wrapper back and popped the whole thing into his mouth.

His mind was completely elsewhere, drowning in memories of the Alliance falling and the possibility that even this alliance would fall apart. Crunch. Another block disappeared. A wave of deep sadness washed over him as a single tear rolled down his cheek, cutting a line through the dust.

Lost in his grief, his thick fingers reached blindly into the bin again and pulled out a large canister of dehydrated protein wafers. He popped the lid and tilted it back, pouring the dry snacks down his throat, entirely unaware that he was treating a week's worth of family rations like a light comfort snack.

A few yards away, a camp volunteer stopped dead in her tracks, clutching a datapad. Her eyes darted from the weeping giant of a Jedi to the rapidly emptying crate marked REFUGEE PROVISIONS, then back to the Jedi.

Vohm-Raet let out a long, heavy sigh as the force of his breath sent a dozen empty wrappers flying across the dirt, leaving him staring mournfully into the distance, unaware of the food he had just wiped out.

Laphisto

High Commander of the Lilaste Order
The transmission from Alex Stern Alex Stern came through clearly over the command channel. Laphisto listened as he stood beside one of the modified AT-AE walkers, watching construction crews guide another prefab housing section into place. His gaze drifted toward the distant development zones spread across the plains. Four separate housing sites meant four separate communities, and communities needed roads. Without them, people would simply carve their own trails through the grasslands, creating confusion and inefficiency before the settlement had even taken root.

He keyed his commlink. on his wrist and spoke to the director, " Copy that, Director Stern. im sending four light walkers to run back and forth between the settlements."

The order was already moving through the Lilaste Order network before he finished speaking. Across the construction site, the four crane-equipped AT-AEs halted their work. Hydraulic systems hissed as rear ramps lowered to the ground. Moments later, four AT-AS MKII light walkers emerged from the larger machines and accelerated across the open terrain.

The smaller walkers moved quickly, spreading out toward the distant housing zones. Navigation data streamed directly into their cockpits, plotting the most efficient routes between the settlements and major points of interest. Their pilots wasted no time, pushing forward across untouched grassland while construction crews and refugees alike paused to watch the armored vehicles disappear into the distance.

"They aren't bulldozers, but repeated movement from armored walkers will flatten the terrain well enough to establish temporary routes. It won't be pretty, but people will know where to go."

The first walker reached open ground and began moving back and forth along its assigned corridor. Massive feet compressed grass and soil beneath every step, leaving behind a broad trail that could be seen from a considerable distance. The remaining walkers split off toward the other housing developments, each beginning the same process as they traced future roads between the settlements.

Laphisto watched them for a moment before continuing. "I'll have engineering teams follow behind them. We'll place marker beacons, directional signs, and navigation posts along the routes. It won't be a finished roadway, but it'll give civilians a reliable path between settlements until heavier equipment can be spared for proper construction."

"Thanks for being here, Tempo. Sorry, I... really should have sent for you sooner. I just didn't think it would take so long." The blind healer let out an exhale. "I'm glad you finally get to visit though. My brother and I have been working very hard on this palace."

Jalen had been busy as of late. Very busy. He took upon himself the task of aiding as the right hand of the Outcast Temple's chief healer, spending his time ensuring that their facilities were all in order for the increase in activity they had experienced since the days that the Farworlds Alliance Charter had entered its drafting period. Needless to say, things had been chaotic. Finally he decided to take a step back and focus on other things. More work, sure, but offering aid to the incoming refugees got him out of the Temple. That and he had invited Tempo to come see the village of Respite, which was now growing at a rapid pace.

Of course, the sound of blubbering really took him out of that. He would pause mid conversation with Tempo, cocking his head to one side.

"Right..." Jalen muttered. "Tour can wait, I guess... you wanna tag along?"

He followed the sounds, and a growing signature of sorrow in the Force, leading to a giant Herglic who was eating, staring wistfully into the distance, and crying. Jalen didn't need to see the man to feel the pain in his aura. And, of course, it was an aura he was sure he could identify based upon the context of his species and Force sensitivity. This was the Master who was visiting from Giju.

"Uh... Master Raet?" the Jedi Knight chimed up from a distance. "Are you... doing alright, sir?"

The first walker reached open ground and began moving back and forth along its assigned corridor. Massive feet compressed grass and soil beneath every step, leaving behind a broad trail that could be seen from a considerable distance.

Chi'no, in her daze, forgot her surroundings. It was about then that there was a loud mechanical sound and a faint rumble that came from behind her. The young woman let out an undignified squeak and jumped up from the bench, spinning around to see a large walker lumbering forward in a line. She took a moment to still her breath before she began to watch what was going on.

More walkers came, one after another. They seemed to all walk the same line in a slow, methodical manner. The trail was easy to see from where her bench was. It had no back, so it was easy for her to move to the other side and sit back down to watch.

She had always liked watching the large farming machines back on Sacorria. Things like walkers were only ever used for agriculture back home, never for war, so this was a familiar sight to her. Large vehicles doing manual labor as opposed to doing combat. it did make her a bit wistful, thinking back to how simple it was before the Galactic Empire swept in to take her home. Then the Sith Covenant simply moved in after that and stayed there. The sight was, at the very least, a distraction from the anxieties that she had experienced as of late. She'd be distracted enough to simply keep watching, forgetting the world around her for a moment...

Tempo tilted his head and sniffed at the air, picking up the scent of whatever food the fellow had been eating.

The small delivery agent had never seen such a creature before… person? The desert lands of Tatooine did not often draw water-dwelling folk out that way, and his curiosity got the better of him. He padded after the blonde, looking up at the towering figure with a morbid little interest, ears pricked and gaze bright.

Then his attention dropped to the bits of trash scattered along the ground. "We don't wanna make a mess of the place so soon," Tempo chirped.

He crouched and began gathering the litter, tucking what he could aside before shrugging his pack from his shoulders. The bag gave a soft, heavy thump as he set it down. Reaching inside, he rummaged for a moment, then pulled free a large meloorun fruit, round and vivid against the dust-warm air.

"Ever try one of these?" he asked, holding it up with both hands. "I've been growing tons of them back home. Maybe you could help us unload them? I can give you a crate or two for the trouble."

The voices pulled Vohm-Raet from the thick fog of his memories. His jaw ceased its movement, a half-crushed wafer still dry on his tongue. Gradually, his vision cleared, revealing the harsh brightness of the sun in the distance and the truth of his actions. He looked down at the empty canister held in his hand, the wrapper trail serving as a reminder of his personal failure today.

It was a lesson he would have to learn from, as a deep wave of shame washed over him, weighing heavily on his mind. "I..." Vohm-Raet began. His voice barely cleared his throat, causing the broken crate beneath him to vibrate. He swallowed the dry lump of food with noticeable effort. "I seem to have... lost my way."

He glanced at Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el who spoke to him with such politeness that it only made Vohm feel more self-conscious. The Herglic shifted his massive weight, the damaged repulsor-box groaning one last time beneath him. He remained seated, keeping low, and tucked his large arms inward to take up less space in the dirt.

"Forgive me, my friend." Vohm-Raet said, his rumbling tone maintaining its somber tone though he bowed his head in respect. "The currents of the past are heavy today. I fear they carried my attention far from the present. I am functional... merely crowded by old ghosts." His dark eyes then drifted down to Tempo Tempo . The small creature was already cleaning up the litter, hands moving quickly over the dirt.

Vohm's fingers twitched with the instinct to assist, but he kept his hands firmly planted on his own knees. Experience had taught him that a sudden movement from a being of his bulk usually caused more panic than aid. When Tempo produced the vibrant meloorun, the bright splash of color seemed entirely out of place against the dusty grey of the camp.

"An exceptionally fine fruit," Vohm murmured, the resonance of his voice softening. "Though, young man, given the devastation I have just visited upon these refugee supplies, offering me further sustenance is a hazardous venture for the settlement's survival." With deliberate, slow movements, Vohm eased himself off the ruined crate and let his knees rest directly in the dry soil.

The shift brought his massive torso down, putting him closer to eye level with the two smaller beings. He kept his large, flat hands open and resting on his thighs, ensuring his posture remained entirely unthreatening.

"But your point about the litter is well-taken," he continued softly, eyes resting on the empty canisters. The humor in his voice was thin, grounded by the reality of the hungry families nearby. "And given the volume of provisions I have just mindlessly consumed, it is only proper that I balance the scales. I am at your disposal for the heavy lifting."

Shuklaar had been tempted to bring technicians to aid with the construction and terrain clearing till he'd seen who it was that was handling that aspect of the project. Alex Stern Alex Stern was more than capable of such matters without requiring him to hold his hand. So Shuklaar figured he would work to his strengths instead. Aran Netra of course had insisted on coming with, and so had brought his command company to assist with loading, unloading, directing traffic, maintaining the perimeter and the like. Of course, for the life of him, Shuklaar couldn't figure out why the man served as Strill Securities' overall ground forces commander had decided to show up personally to oversee things. That mean the company's three most senior individuals were all here, not a prospect that Shuk relished thinking about the implications of.

"Don't I pay you to be doing more important things than being a glorified policeman?" Shuklaar asked over comms to Aran as he watched the various groups including the company's own forces at work.

"Don't you have something else to be doing, alor?" he asked in return. "Looks good, though it is pretty di'kutla for all three of us to be here."

"Safe in orbit," came the voice of Nyles Kote Nyles Kote through his buy'ce speakers. "Scan completed, alor. You want the good news or the bad?"

"How about the actual shabla news and you let me decide if its good or bad, vod?" responded Shuklaar, more than a little impatiently.

"Just don't blame me later when Jhira asks about your blood pressure," responded Nyles without missing a beat. "The structure is old. Ta'raysholane of years at least. Signature matches the same structures we found on Honoghr. No anomalous life signs."

'Yet,' thought Shuklaar. He'd seen enough after action reports from the company's contract with the CIS to know how these things usually went. The fact that nothing had been found yet meant nothing. "Keep me posted," grunted Shuklaar.

"Elek, alor. Pakod," came his response a moment later. Shuklaar released the breath he almost didn't realize that he'd been holding in. Somehow he got the distinct impression that things would be anything but. He flagged down a SD-01R 'Gar Ram'ser' Siege Droid that was helping move a incorrectly parked speeder. The gingerly put the speeder down in a more appropriate spot than it was parked at and turned to face him.

"With me, ret'lini," he said, though he knew his detail was following at a short distance, the droid's two HRR-02 Heavy Repeating Rippers and twin RCDC-01 Repeating Class-D Disruptor Cannons seemed like firepower that might come in handy if things got out of hand like they always seemed to. Besides, it seemed more useful this way than as a glorified parking attendant. The droid tilted its head as though trying to hear him better then fell in beside him as he continued his walk through the area.

Beltor Cyrus
Aboard the FWN Warspite

At the head of BASRON-1

They blinked in to space, exiting their hyperspace jump in formation and at roughly the same moment. For a moment the formation gun there before their drives came to life and they made for the ring world.

Travel to and from Refuge was a hard thing, between the near by gravity wells causing irregularities and the lawless nature of most of the Unknown regions making unguarded supply convoys easy prey for all manner of pirates, bandits and scum abound.

This time was different. After their training run over refuge a short, scant few weeks back the ships and sailors of The 1st Composite Squadron, what Beltor had taken to calling "BASRON-1" had turned coreward on a mission. With the Warspite at the lead, the 16 ships of the force had collected and assembled a small fleet of its own.

Transports, haulers, mining ships and tradesmen from the more civilized parts of the rim who had agreed to hire on as many workmen, farmers, tradesmen and teachers needed to aid in the construction of new homes, schools, water plants, farmsteads, all the infrastructure a place could use to build new lives.

That wasn't all either, at least four kilometer bulk haulers brought up on contract to hull well over a million tones of cargo. Foodstuffs, water, medical supplies, construction equipment and materials. He wasn't expecting conflict, but came prepared all the same. The Warspite's marine detachment, freshly trained and honed aboard, were mustered for duty. They were meant largely for peace keeping and aiding the construction crews, but were also issued their rifles and side arms in the event things got pear-shaped.

He had been authorized to make use of certain discretionary funds, and opted to put them to go use. As they neared the ring world the formation slowed, a transition went over the open band, directed at the sole Darasuum Morut in orbit.

<<Warspite to Darasuum Morut: Su cuy'gar!, and fair greetings. Warspite and company requests permission to form off starboard echelon to keep station and aid in off loading of supplies and work crews. Message end.>>

"And given the volume of provisions I have just mindlessly consumed, it is only proper that I balance the scales. I am at your disposal for the heavy lifting."

"It's fine," Jalen assured with an exhale. "We've got plenty more provisions... and I'm sure nobody will mourn the lost of a little nutri-paste. Hey, there's a shuttle here from Veridia, how about we help move supplies."

Jalen could understand why the Jedi Master was in such a state. Coming from Giju, a member of the Galactic Alliance, there was no doubt that with his age he saw the fall of the Core first hand. Given that Jalen had left for the Outer Rim before that occurred, he missed the chaos of it all. Even so, it was still a familiar pain to him.

He remembered the loss of his village on Lothal like it was yesterday.

There was no point dwelling on it for the moment, though. That wasn't productive. Maybe when this was all said and done, though, he could find Master Raet a half-decent councilor to speak with and clear his mind. It was better to let those things free than bottle them up.

"Jalen Kai'el," he introduced. "I work with the healers in the Temple, but I'm sure you probably recognize the last name more. My... er... companion is Tempo. They're here visiting to offer their aid."

Companion. Yeah, that was a good way of quickly explaining a complicated relationship. He knew he was gonna get teased for it to...

Oh well.

Jalen would turn back to Tempo.

"Master Vohm-Raet is here representing the Herglic people," he explained to the shorter elf-eared being. "They come from a planet called Giju. It's almost entirely covered in oceans... basically the polar opposite of Tatooine."

It wasn't long before they had arrived at one of the many shuttles from Veridia with cargo holds full of food stuffs.

Sergeant Omen

Arc Trooper Sergeant of the 41st Elite Corps
The Mynock set down in an open landing pad, the insides of which at least from one person whose angst radiated out in waves. That person was not Omen. Opening up the hold, inside contained bunches of construction droids, ready to help with the building of this former temple into the city it needed to be. And it seemed like it was already starting with Omen seeing different sides of the galaxy pulling together to build this place up, to make it what this city needed to be to help people. He hoped the other person here would see that too.

Omen looked back into the ship, looking at Aren with an eyebrow as she sulked in the corner of the hold. "You can always stay on the ship, you know. If you really hate the Jedi that much, you don't have to be here." He wouldn't judge her, even if he called her a chicken for being scared of robe-wearing monks. "The past is the past. You have to get over it sometime." Hopefully, this visit would give her that chance.
