PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
STANDARD FEATURES
ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Heavy and Versatile Armament: With either two RSM-01 Repeating Super-Heavy Mass-drivers or two SIC-01 Super-Heavy Ion Cannons, four MMOL-02B ordnance launchers, a pair of assault grade MMOL-03 launchers, a minelayer and a pair of twin RHM-04 turrets the Ram'ser is an extremely heavily armed craft. Each of the aforementioned weapon systems have the capacity to be loaded with a variety of different rounds/ordnance, and as such, it makes for a very versatile arsenal.
  • Resilient: The bomber is heavily armored, well shielded and features both a cap drain and a combat de-ionizer, making it resistant to many forms of damage and thus making the bomber an extremely tough nut to crack.
  • Advanced Sensor and Comms Suite: The Ram'ser has an advanced and long range comms and sensor suite, ensuring effective coordination and target acquisition.
  • Stealthy: The electronic warfare suite of the bomber and its low-profile engines ensures that it has a very low sensor profile at medium and long ranges, which are the bomber's preferred engagement ranges.
  • 'Manda' Tactical Battlenet: The Ram'ser benefits from having the fighter based version of the 'Manda' tactical battlenet, allowing it to benefit from sensor and targeting data from accompanying starfighters and bombers but from the rest of a deployed naval formation. Additionally, the crew can benefit from the system's threat tracking and analysis features, allowing them to potentially gain the edge over an enemy combatant in a dogfight because of the system's potential to analysis of the other pilot and craft's capabilities and its following recommendation on how to counter both.
WEAKNESSES
  • Low Maneuverability: Never designed to make daring bombing runs on enemy capital ships, the Ram'ser suffers from a lack of maneuverability, giving it a noted disadvantage smaller, faster and more maneuverable craft.
  • Huge: Far from being a small target, the Ram'ser is not the most difficult target to hit because of its size. This because even more prevalent when the craft sees atmospheric use as a long range fire support platform.
  • Aft Blindspot: There is no gun coverage in the aft of the craft, meaning that a canny fighter pilot can get behind the craft and pour fire into its rear before the crew can do too much about it.
  • Outnumbered: Like most Mandalorian craft, and in the particular case of Strill Securities, Ram'ser pilots often find themselves heavily outnumbered. Naturally, this stems from the low numbers per squadron that they're fielded in.
  • Boom: The Ram'ser carries a lot of ordnance, if a shot penetrates the armor and reaches the ordnance storage with enough energy left to detonate something, then it's very likely that the bomber will be destroyed entirely in the ensuing detonation of that ordnance and the following sympathetic detonation of the remaining ordnance.
  • Complicated Repairs: The bomber's design is complicated, making maintenance of the bomber a time consuming process that can only be done by those who are familiar with the intricacies of the design, its various subsystems and with the right set of tools available to them.
DESCRIPTION
"The Ram'ser isn't a bomber, not in the traditional sense. It's a missile launcher with engines. Keep your distance and pick your targets and you'll be fine."
- Squadron Leader Aenarr Kyrr, Strill Securities

Changing battlefield circumstances constantly dictate the direction that design takes. Better ECM results in better ECCM to counter it and deadlier starfighters result in better point-defence systems. At this point, there are two possible decisions; one, develop better ECM and/or better defended starfighters, or two, develop a platform that doesn't need to close the distance with its targets to engage. The Ram'ser is entirely built around this philosophy. Rather than close with enemy capital ships and engage with bombs or short range torpedoes, the Ram'ser is designed to sling smart ordnance at its target from a distance.

The primary focus of the Ram'ser design is its extremely heavy armament. with either twin RSM-01 Repeating Super-Heavy Mass-driver turrets or twin SIC-01 Super-Heavy Ion Cannons turrets serving as one of the bomber's primary weapon systems, providing a weapon system for the bomber to engage capital grade targets that was less affected by enemy jamming than its missiles. A pair of MMOL-03 launchers give the bomber the majority of its offensive firepower, giving it a payload of twelve assault grade missiles. A total of four MMOL-02B launchers round off the craft's offensive armament, which give it considerable options against starfighters, or for saturation fire against enemy capital ships. Finally, the Ram'ser features a pair of twin RHM-04 repeating heavy mass-driver turrets and a pair of minelayers, though the latter are intended to be used against pursuers rather than in an offensive capacity, and hence are loaded with seismic charges, firecracker mines or a combination thereof.

Given that the Ram'ser is expected to be on the receiving end of a lot of enemy fire, it has strong armor in the form of Stesr'gar-reinforced Stygian-tripsmatic Polymer composite armor, which is reinforced by a Agrinium inner hull mesh liner, Thermal Gel inner layer, Stesr'gar hull plating and Stesr'gar hull frame. The canopy is made from a Beskar-Glasteel alloy, making it quite resilient indeed. The bomber's first line of defence however against incoming attacks is its 'Caritr' shield generator, which generates an ion, particle and molecular shield. Given that beskar and as a result Stesr'gar armor does carry some of the force of an impact through, the bomber also features an anticoncussion field generator to lessen the actual impact of incoming kinetic weapons. Finally, when engaged, the bomber has a number of countermeasure systems that it can deploy to potentially avoid incoming missiles and to further harry enemy fighters.

However, the Ram'ser is designed to present as small a sensor profile as possible to allow it to stay at long range and engage its preferred tactics at this range. This it does by lowering its sensor profile with the use of its powerful electronic warfare suite and low profile engines. At long and medium ranges, the fighter is very difficult to detect, and even at close ranges target acquisition is definitely affected by these features, though not to the degree that would make the fighter a 'true' stealth fighter.

The Ram'ser benefits from having the fighter version of the 'Manda' tactical battlenet, allowing it to benefit from sensor and targeting data from not only its fellow fighters but from the rest of a deployed naval formation. Additionally, the crew can benefit from the system's threat tracking and analysis features. As an added benefit, the bomber's own sensor and comms suite are not only long ranged, but extremely powerful. This ensures effective coordination and target acquisition. In the case of the Ram'ser, the latter is especially important given that a number of the weapons and ordnance that it can carry are long ranged and require a powerful long ranged system to ensure that they are used to their full capability.

As with every craft, the Ram'ser is not without its flaws. Never designed to make daring bombing runs on enemy capital ships, the Ram'ser suffers from a lack of maneuverability, giving it a noted disadvantage smaller, faster and more maneuverable craft. Far from being a small target, the Ram'ser is not the most difficult target to hit because of its size. This because even more prevalent when the craft sees atmospheric use as a long range fire support platform. There is no gun coverage in the aft of the craft, meaning that a canny fighter pilot can get behind the craft and pour fire into its rear before the crew can do too much about it. Like most Mandalorian craft, and in the particular case of Strill Securities, Ram'ser pilots often find themselves heavily outnumbered. Naturally, this stems from the low numbers per squadron that they're fielded in. The Ram'ser carries a lot of ordnance, if a shot penetrates the armor and reaches the ordnance storage with enough energy left to detonate something, then it's very likely that the bomber will be destroyed entirely in the ensuing detonation of that ordnance and the following sympathetic detonation of the remaining ordnance. Finally, the bomber's design is complicated, making maintenance of the bomber a time consuming process that can only be done by those who are familiar with the intricacies of the design, its various subsystems and with the right set of tools available to them.

That said, the bomber is popular with Strill Securities pilots, who appreciate the sheer amount of firepower it can bring to bear on a target without exposing itself to too much incoming firepower.

A super heavy bomber, the thing that screams "more firepower!". We do have some issues however.
