Detection, targeting and tracking data seamlessly flowed between buy'cese and droid brains as organic and synthetic soldiers of Strill Securities fought alongside one another, using skill and preternatural reflex to keep their Jedi allies from being in the direct line of fire. These droids were atin'la, but few things could stand up to concentrated disruptor fire from their formation. Conditioning kept any them from letting empathy get in the way.

"Sorry," Jalen apologized to the group before he tilted his head towards Shuklaar. "You lot have lots of war crimes strapped to you, don't you?"

"What?" said Shuklaar first almost as if he was snapping out of a haze before a smile flickered across his features, "I don't know what you're talking about ad'ika. I don't remember signing anything," he said with as much seriousness that he could muster, as though it were aw hysterical joke. Truth was, to him, it was. He had never once signed any weapons conventions, though he was aware local laws had made them illegal in many systems, not that he cared one way or another.

"This place seems like they didn't want visitors…" he murmured softly to her, offering a concerned look.

"Time to ruin its day, then," muttered Shuklaar as he quickly checked the Manda and his own beskar'gam's medical scanners to make sure that everyone was alright. "SITREP, everyone alright?" he double checked as he ordered the droids to keep moving forward. Shuklaar glanced around, composite view and networked sensor feeds at least giving him some idea of what this place held in store for them.

"I don't know what you're talking about ad'ika. I don't remember signing anything,"

"Right..."

Well, Shuklaar was laughing now, but Jalen was pretty sure it was at him. Maybe his joke came off wrong. Or maybe it had landed just fine and he just wasn't that great at understanding if his jokes came off as intended. Oh well. He leaned down to examine whatever was left of the droids, picking throught the remains for anything tangible. It was all ancient, he was shocked it still even worked.

When Brander mentioned this place not wanting visitors, Jalen tilted his head.

"Seems like it," he responded. "Can't say what they're defending in here. This place doesn't feel like a tomb... not enough death in the air. Feels like it was meant to be sterile. Everything is smooth..."

His mind instantly jumped to the sensation he had felt in the lab on Lothal. The place where him and Jasper were created. A chill ran down his spine as he recalled the empty feeling of that place. He stood back up after a moment and turned his face in the direction of where the droids had come from.

"I feel a large chamber that way," he relayed. "That has to be the place."

Using the droid as a shield novac was covered enough from blaster fire, but not the flames. Creating a small barrier with the force the fire just barely missing his sides. Using the force to make any kind of shielding was never his strong suit.

Ashley bringing the stalactites down gave novac an idea. Using the force he pulled down as many as he could and aimed them at the left half of the group with the force destroying them.

Novac sensed the heat of laphisto and his troops before he saw them. From behind the droid novac glanced over, "Oh not much, just some old droids trying to kill us."

The blind man’s mastery over the elements was truly a sight to behold. With reddened cheeks from the fire’s warmth, Ran watched and felt as the fire turned away from the group of Mandalorians and Jedi and back toward the ancient droids. The fire burned and crippled them, melted their joints and made their circuits go haywire. Internal electrical explosions and arcs were dwarfed by the violent heat and sheer power the fire had pushed. It continued that way until there was nothing left, just hot glowing mounds, with almost nothing left of the ancient droids to salvage. It was amazing, and awesome, and more than that it was a skill that Ran was not capable of possessing.

"This place seems like they didn't want visitors…"

Ran smiled at her padawan, meeting his concerned look with one of amusement as the Jedi beside them agreed. “Trust me,” Ran added. “I’ve been to my fair share of ancient places, and I can confidently say they never do.” Although sometimes they did. Sometimes the past was waiting to be discovered and Ran could name several instances where she felt welcome in places untouched for thousands of years, but they were in the vast minority, so she stuck to her hyperbolic response and continued onward behind the bandaged man and the Mandalorian squad.

“As for what the machines are defending, It may just be this place as a whole.” Ran posited. “A patrol sent, or guardians revealed in response to our presence here. The product of a bygone territorial species, either that or there is something of importance hidden here.” Ran shook her head, no longer amused. “So still our words of caution stand, and still we go forward.” Ran crossed her arms as if in a deep contemplative thought. “Lead the way. It’s the only way we find an answer.” She requested of her fellow Jedi despite the coverings over his eyes.

“Trust me,” Ran added. “I’ve been to my fair share of ancient places, and I can confidently say they never do.”

He looked at her with quiet concern. "Never?" he asked, seeming to wonder why anyone would bother constructing such a place only to seal it away in darkness for all eternity.

"I think it's rather rude… Though I suppose it might have made some sense if this were a burial ground and they wished to keep anyone from disturbing the dead or some secret site....Buuuuut.... This does not seem like that...."

Jalen would lead the party into the large chamber that awaited them at the end of their path. It was so large that it stretched all the way to the other side of the structure, also the ending room for the West group of Laphisto Laphisto , Jonyna Si Jonyna Si , and Novac Lyrikal Novac Lyrikal . What they would find was test tubes.

Jalen would approach one of the tubes and run his hand along it, allowing his mind to feel what lay on the other side. Usually the Force presence of a being could let him know what species he was dealing with, but here he was at a loss. Were those horns on the sides of their head he felt, or eye stocks? It was hard to tell, since...

"They're all lifeless husks," Jalen relayed. "Clones that never got filled. I can feel their empty minds..."

He felt a chill run down his spine. It was like feeling a twisted reflection of himself and his brother. All those empty clone bodies back on Lothal...

"What do they look like?" he asked. "I... I can't identify them."

There would be no more perils for them to face in this place, only the knowledge that somebody left behind these empty bodies for some use later. And maybe, just maybe, considering how much effort was made in order to keep this place defended...

There were more of them out there.

Fin.

Once they reached the vast chamber filled with vials, Brander went still… This wasn't too unlike the place where he himself had been 'grown.' He wasn't certain what to make of the creatures inside, but somehow, this felt different from where he and his brothers had been made.... It felt... wrong.

He offered an uncertain look first to Ran Serys Ran Serys , then allowed it to trail back toward Jalen Kai'el Jalen Kai'el . He didn't say anything for the moment, instead drawing in a heavy breath before letting it out through a slow sigh.

Brander moved to walk around the room, looking over the odd creatures contained within the vials.

"I've never seen this species before… Muted, grayish skin with an unusual texture, what look like eye stalks on either side, flat, pushed-in faces, and conical heads," he offered in response to Jalen. His gaze shifted from one vial to the next, searching for some small distinction between them. "They all look identical, as far as I can tell…"
