Gerwald hated council meetings, well, he hated meetings in general. They were a necessary evil which came with needing to remain coordinated. Why did Gerwald hate them, two reasons. Most meetings usually meant a lot of talk and little action. The wolf could not remember the last time a council meeting had led to any action other than the same fruitless debates which seemed to plague the majority of Viceroyalty sessions. Then there was the fact his predecessor called way too many of them. It seemed
Kyyrk
excelled at calling meetings, at least that was the perspective Gerwald had carried.
Now he was the one calling them. The lupine wondered who was going to complain that the Lord Commander called too many of these. Granted, Gerwald was certain this was the first meeting he was calling which fell outside the regularly scheduled meetings they had all agreed upon.
There was a good reason for it.
Gerwald rushed to the council chambers of the new Obsidian Headquarters. He anticipated this meeting was going to be more than the simple delivery of information, and he was confident that the Vicelord, Exarch’s, and Ministers of the Confederacy, had already seen his report. A new threat, or the potential for it, had seemed to appear overnight. He had seen similar structures before. Gerwald knew what they were, or at least he was certain that he knew. If they were what he feared, then swift action needed to be taken. The Confederacy could not afford anything less than a swift response.
Invitations had been sent to
Darth Metus
,
Srina Talon
, and
John Locke
, to attend the meeting. Gerwald wanted their input to the plan he had formed. It was also imperative that
Kiff Brayde
,
Hester Shedo
, and
Shalita Verd
, be in attendance as well. Naturally if their schedules did not permit them to attend the meeting would still need to take place, but Gerwald had ensured to stress the urgency of the matter.
He took his seat. A scowl born of worry was worn on his face as the wolf’s eyes locked onto the surface of the table. As those attending arrived they would see the anxious state of the Lord Commander. It was not often he appeared as anything but confident when addressing the Council, but today was different. There was a certain aspect of the unknown which clung to his thoughts. Gerwald may have had a plan, steps to take, but he was unsure of the way forward. No part of his training prepared him for what they could potentially be facing, and it was that which made Gerwald worry.
“I want to thank you all for joining me,” he finally said, pulling his head up to address those who sat around the table. “Have you all seen the reports?”
The question was rhetorical.
“There is certainly something at play here, something which I believe falls into the jurisdiction of the Knights Obsidian. We are still stretched thin since the incident involving what we have come to know as The Eye, but this needs to be investigated and dealt with. I would prefer this not be up for debate, but I would like to solicit input and ensure that we are all on the same page before moving forward.”
Perhaps this would be a short meeting, maybe it was about to be the debate Gerwald did not want. Either way, this was the start of something.
“Any questions so far?”
