Dominion Spelunking | SJO DOM of Kyrayc

Kyra gasped softly as her finger struck something hard and smooth beneath the gritty sand. Her fingers pried it loose, a slight tug of the force all that was needed to send it zipping up into her extended hand. It's blue light suffused her, its warm energies radiating in her hand.

She let out a breath, smiling softly at the crystal she held before her. Hello there, she greeted.

She could have sworn she felt it hum back.

"Master Elise, I have found a kyber crystal."
She heard called out from behind her. Kyra clasped the crystal to her chest, careless of the dirt she smeared on her shirt as she stood.

"Me too," she whispered, turning to the Master.

Elise gave the two padawans a warm look, nodding in approval to their finds. "Well done." Her eyes followed the remaining padawans, each following the call of their own crystal up ahead. "Hold tight," she reassured. "They will too in time. Maybe take the chance to meditate with it a little, hm?"

She laughed as Kyra pulled a face, her nose crinkling in distaste. "Meditation is healthy for the mind, young one. Give it a try." She gestured to them both, her attention lingering on Acaadi up ahead.

These mines were dangerous after all.

As she wandered towards the call she was sensing she reached out with her senses following the call till she felt a cold ting that startled her to reality the Crystal was a dim yellow color as she took it from its resting place and held it in her hand it was warm in her hand as she felt for the first time in her life some form of what she could assume was peace and calm, Was a curios emotion as she abandoned that path a long time ago she was unfamiliar with finding it again.

''I found a Kyber crystal as well'' She said softly but loud enough so they could hear her.

As soon as he had found his kyber crystal, he tucked it safely into the inside pocket of his jacket and stood. I wonder what that noise was that I heard a few minutes ago? He placed his right hand on his holstered blaster pistol and began to look around the room. The immediate area didn't seem dangerous at all and there was no place for a creature to hide itself, so the noise must have come from further within the cave. He decided that he would stand in the middle of the room, staying out of the other Padawan's way, and focus his thoughts to investigate what was moving further on...….

Commander Calderon halted suddenly, hearing some commotion from one of the other tunnels. He kept the blaster cannon leveled while he waited if anything curious would come to investigate the side party.

"Anyone hear that?" He'd ask back at the two behind him before readjusting his grip on the weapon once more, facing forward. It sounded almost like a skittering- or perhaps a scampering? The sounds hastened from the far end of the trio's tunnel.

Valkren took another careful step forward, before his HUD sent a scanning wave down the full length. Suddenly- several lifesigns, purella to be exact, were advancing towards Rarr, Vass, and the commander. They were crawling all over.

"Backing up..Get back!" Valkren squeezed down on the trigger, letting a flurry of blue bolts pepper the tunnel just where it bent out of sight. The signatures of the spider-like creatures halted momentarily and an audible hiss could be heard. Calderon got his footing once again, leaning back to support the weight of his weapon in preparation for the spiders to come around the corner.

In one group, they'd jump across to the walls, coming for the trio all together. It would be quite the horrific sight for the lighthearted. Luckily enough, Valkren was sure everyone could stand to squash a few more bugs in their lives.

Calming his mind clearly helped, as Danco found his crystal. It felt so weird in his hand, as if he were holding a glass but also as if he was holding a piece of the force as well. To Danco, it felt warm, comforting, a feeling that didn't come easily to him. As if he were suddenly covered with a warm blanket, all of his worries drifted off. Lessons could be learned with this feeling, Danco thought to himself, ashamed that he was so flustered when children half his age were able to control their emotions better than a man of mild seasoning could do.

Instead of dwelling on the thoughts, he turned his attention to Elise. "I have found my crystal as well, master."

Amani stood still, and let the force guide her to the crystal. Closing her eyes, she focused in, and began to listen. The hum was faint, but as she slowly held out her hand, it grew more potent. She called out to the Force. A shift in the rock, and a small crystal floated up, and drifted into Amani's palm. She closed her fist as soon as she felt it. Amani opened her eyes and looked to her hand, and in her grasp rested a smooth green kyber crystal. She looked up enthusiastically, but took care to downplay how excited she was. She waited to regain composure before saying,

"I found it. I found my kyber crystal."

The others all seemed to have found success. He barely heard their various announcements of success, too focused on his own quest.

There were many crystals here, but their songs were wrong. The timbre, the pitch, each of them was wrong in its own unique way.

He moved deeper into the shadows, stepping carefully between the crystalline structures. A fall would actually be quite painful even with the layers he had on to shield himself from the cold.

Something finally sang the right song. Acaadi dropped to his knees, eyes still closed. Holding the palm of his hand out to a fractal pile of glinting crystals he swept it back and forth. Finally he found it and realised why it was different.

This was a duet.

Two voices, low and bold against high and melodic. A pair of blue crystals, large and small growing together from the same stones. He slowly pulled them free.

Acaadi didn't call out to the others. He sat back onto the cool, damp floor. He had all the components he needed to construct his lightsabers here. Given how attuned he was to the Force, seemingly through the crystals themselves, he saw no reason not to start now.

Elise smiled softly as one by one, voices echoed out to her in delight or pride.

I found it, I have it, My crystal!

"Excellent," she pushed off the wall, gathering her hands inside the sleeves of her robes. She glanced towards the exit, no desire to linger where the younglings could get hurt.

"Shall we?"

"I've got my eye on them." She immediately dropped to a kneeling position, lifting her rifle up and taking aim. She could just barely see their life signs through the walls, when there was a brief moment that the stone between them wasn't too thick. Atlan stood behind her, the Gand keeping his eyes trained on the bend as he and the Commander took half steps backwards. Caelag was not one to retreat, not particularly caring if Valkren fell behind her as well as she lined the shot. How many were there, she couldn't quite tell. Enough that their signs of life were mingling even before the small would-be swarm leapt to the walls.

Certainly there'd be a fair few bug corpses in a minute.

The cave seemed to shake around Caelag as she took the first shot, ripping through the air and one of the leading purella. Her rifle bolt may as well have been a lightsaber for how quickly it tore the thing's head apart. The recoil was nasty in this position, swinging the weapon up high, but she risked an immediate second shot to aim at one of the ones on the wall. Two wouldn't be enough to stop the swarm, but two was all her shoulder could take without resetting her aim. Even so she could feel the pain lancing through her arm like a wildfire, making her grimace in pain under her helmet.

Atlan for his part opened fire, to suppress the bugs and give Caelag a moment to reset her shot. He may not know how Beltran was in a fight, but it didn't take a genius to assume 'soldier takes gun and shoots the bad guys'. So he focused on trying to keep the bugs clear of Valkren and Caelag.

As the spider creatures flew towards their group, Beltran stepped to the side and raised his rifle, wanting as clear a shot as possible as his comrades laid down their own fire . He'd quickly switched his weapon to its most powerful setting and allowed it to charge. He wasn't familiar with the species exactly, though his own HUD scanner identified them as Purellas-a spider like predator native to Yavin 8.

As he didn't have the time to learn any more about them, the Lorrdian simply had to trust his eyes. And his eyes were telling him that the creatures' underbellies looked like mighty fine, and unarmored, targets.

He lined up his shot, controlling his breathing and waited until the left-most spider was at the apex of its jump. Then he fired. The recoil drove the rifle violently into his shoulder, but his aim was true and the super-powered shot hit the creature right in the under side of its thorax. Spiders, Beltran knew, tended to be surprise hunters and not suited for any real fight. He hoped that the blast would cut through the creature quickly, but he made no assumptions.

Instead, he kept his sights on his target and prepared to fire again.

The rounds from his allies' weapon acted true, finding successful marks on the spider-like creatures they were aiming for. His teammate's immediate fire encouraging the commander to keep his footing where he stood. Pressing down on the trigger mechanism again, he'd lift the barrels up towards the left wall. A stream of blue bolts escaped, the pure amount of the bolts in such a short period of time being well enough to demolish the spider before it could even jump.

With a rather satisfying and hardy 'Ha!', the commander directed his aim back at the group of purella that were scattering towards them. This time he'd keep the mechanism pressed down, letting the barrels spin back up in quick fashion and spray the armament the commander was carrying with no quarter.

His bolts continued to pepper the tunnel, but more seemed to crawl over the dead toward the three people. Valkren quickly moved to think that there might not be a stop to this group. The small swarm seemed to be becoming something quite large on their side of the tunnel system.

The commander wondered just how the others were doing in the separate pathway. " Masaru Varga Masaru Varga , what's your status? We've got some company here!"

He'd take a step back and lean backwards, putting most of the weight on the back his back leg while firing. The barrels began to glow, red hot. Warning lights began to pop up on his HUD, a series of red-flags suggesting that his heavy weapon would soon overheat.

"Anyone got any tricks up their sleeves?" Calderon yelled out to his allies as he leveled the rotary cannon back and forth slowly, acting as if he was holding more of a hedge-trimmer than a weapon. He was sure explosives would be the wrong move for this tunnel, as he wasn't sure of the strength or condition and if it could put up with military hardware. Valkren assumed well enough that the miners often used explosives to clear out massive areas, but their detonators were slightly different in nature.

It was hard on her shoulder, but Vass was keeping the pace of shots as high as she could. Two shots down immediately, she only had eight more to work with. Each was finding its target but, since the weapon wasn't a physical slugthrower, the shots only were killing one at a time. Granted, with Atlan at her back keeping his own pace with Commander Calderon she was at least safe from the horde making it to her. The others however were doing a far better job at killing the karking things, once more making her skillset quite..

Useless.

Five shots. Six shots. She wasn't missing it seemed but the swarm was growing, and she had a significant doubt they could build a corpse wall to block them before they all ran out of shots or overheated their weapons. Atlan's posture was firm as ever, but Caelag could tell the Gand was feeling uncomfortable with the growing situation. They needed a way out soon.

Seven shots, Eight. Nine. Ten. The power pack forming her clip was calmly released, leaving her without a gun. She gently placed it down, and began to move her hands towards her sword on her hip. Left hand on the scabbard, right hand on the hilt. The only way to disable the magnetic lock holding the two in place. She was being given no other options.

Calderon asked the both of them if they had a trick. She didn't want to do it, but she felt the lock disengage on her sword. It was no or never for her to prove useful in this fight with the bugs. "One."

She drew her longsword, the force imbued blade glowing a bright yellow as it left the oricalcum scabbard holding it to her side. Her hand went to support the other, holding the weapon firmly with both grasping it firmly, lowering the weapon down to her right side. She quickly swung the weapon upwards, bringing it up overhead and striking the ground, causing a spark. IN an instant her sword was wreathed in fire, like a blazing inferno confined to the weapon itself. The corpses were piled enough to cover most of the ground in roughly line perpendicular to the walls. So with a swing from one side to the other, she let out an arc of fire, connecting with the bugs' bodies and igniting them.

She outstretched a hand and lifted it up, forcing through her Fire Shaping the small flames to enrage into the closest thing she could imagine, a wall of pure fire and energy. She had no idea what it looked like, only that she could feel the heat, both from the firewall she was creating, and the burning inside her. She would be useful, even if she had to burn this entire purella colony to the ground to do it.

Beltran blinked as Jedi Caelag Vass Caelag Vass drew her sword and somehow sent a wall of fire forward from it. "Well," He said aloud. "That's new." If the spiders were anything like most wild animals, fire would terrify them and certainly break their charge. Moving forward to stand next to Valkren Calderon Valkren Calderon , he allowed his rifle to drop against his chest.

Pulling a pair of stun grenades from the very same rig, he activated their detonators and threw them over the top of the wall. Left to their own devices, the spiders would probably run from the fire. "We can't let them retreat deeper into the caves," He called out to his companions. "Or it will take weeks to force them out of here."

Beyond the flame-wall, Beltran's stun grenades detonated. With any luck they would incapacitate a few of them, perhaps long enough for Jedi Vass' flames to burn them to ash.
