STRENGTHS
- Modular Platform: The basis of the Bescane class is the idea that the design should be capable of handling multiple roles in any given situation, be it in times of war or peace. It allows for a flexability usually unseen in its class, with the platform making this ship suitable for roles such as troop carrier, load carrier, armored freighter, gunship, blockade runner, etc
- Well Balanced design: While there are some clear downsides to the compromises made in designing and producing this ship, it still retains a wonderfully balanced endresult. Having a lightweight feel to its controls, it shows remarkable maneuvrability and atmospheric speed, which combined with the adequate defenses and offensive capacities makes this a sturdy and useable platform as a multi-role craft.
- Extensive electronics: Despite the thought that too much electronics on a small craft would be an expensive joke, in this case the opposite is true, as all systems used in this vessel are tried and tested, but also part of a larger parts bin available to the manufacturer, the systems are in effect cheaper than usual and have been extensively used and documented in order to make maintainance easier and more reliable in general.
- Low Squadron Count: Being significantly larger than starfighters or standard bomber platforms, the Bescane Class is forced into smaller squadrons in order to actually fit in most hangar bays.
- No Hyperdrive: As the focus for the Bescane Class MRP/A version was atmospheric landing and flight, it was determined that a hyperdrive was not a priority. This does mean that without a carrier vessel, this version of the Bescane Class is bound to atmospheric and planetary system flight only.
- No reactive armor: Because of the low-cost design requirements, this vessel does not benefit from the advantages of reactive armor, which despite it having quite the extensive defensive capacities, does make it more susceptible to heavy artillery and thermal weaponry.
The NZ Bescane-Class MRP/A or Multi-role platform is a design which harkens back to older small craft the company had made prior to the second Hyperspace war, utilizing space and function concurrently rather than going for sleek or imposing designs. While the design was already in phase two of engineering, the opportunity of gaining a contract with the High Republic did speed up the engineering considerably. This version which is simply dubbed the A-model, is perhaps the simplest, but also the most functional variation on what without question could become a whole line up of vessels if necessary, it benefits greatly from the very large assortiment of choices in regards of materials and electronic systems available to the EnSol engineers and the N&Z in general, allowing for a wonderfully balanced and surprisingly nimble ship to proudly represent the very quality and knowledge of the N&Z in the department of engineering and producing any sort of ship on demand.
Perhaps the largest downside this model does have, is that due to its role being chiefly focused on planetary|low range and atmospheric action, it lacks a hyperdrive, meaning that it will always need to be transported by carriers in case it is necesarry for use on multiple battlefronts. Though the N&Z does point out that this was chiefly a cost-reduction choice following the brief as given by the THR defense contest. Should the need for an installment of a hyperdrive be presented, this issue could be resolved quite easily according to the N&Z's engineering staff.
