PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: High caliber ray shield
  • Weight: Average
  • Resistances:
    • Energy: Very High | High
    • Kinetic: Very High | High
    • Lightsabers: None
    • Acid: None
    • EMP: High | Very High
    • Ion: High | Very High
    • Other unspecified above: Average
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • The Intensity and frequency of this shield system can be adjusted to the need of the user. Which means during battle, upon contact with the enemy, a ship or building can opt to go for higher protection against energy based (laser, turbolaser, etc) and kinetic weaponry (mass driver, slugthrower, etc) by setting the shield to high density, but low frequency or opt for a shield more capable of deterring EMP and ION based weaponry by switching to low density, but high frequency.
STRENGTHS
  • Very Durable: The actual device itself can take a lot of damage and be operated under unfavorable conditions without even getting much a scratch or tear thanks to the use of tunqstoid and Ersteel 145 in it's build up, making sure that it doesn't malfunction all too easily when used in combat.
  • Fast deployment: This shield system has a very fast reloading time, though it IS advised to have a seperate reactor present on board of any ship or within any building which truly wishes to utilize this.
  • Wide range of resistances: The shield prides itself on a very high resistance against kinetic and energy based weaponry, but also a decent resistance against EMP and ION based weaponry, with the added bonus that one can opt to choose which to protect against most prominently.
WEAKNESSES
  • Lightsaber resistance: None existant is the easiest way to describe it. As lightsabers generally do not travel through the air at speeds generated by slugs, blasts or lasers of any kind, the sensors of the shield will not detect them and the shield itself will thus not stop them. This means it is best not to antagonise an opponent when standing behind this shield...they can still cut through the shield with their lightsaber like a knife through butter.
  • Corrosive weaponry: Generally all corrosive weaponry that does not make use of ammunition which is shot or launched, has no issue passing through the shield itself.
  • Cooldown: Upon having made the choice for the modus in which to use this shield, it will remain in this setting unti it has been reloaded to full strength again, meaning that only when the shields have used up all of their energy, their settings can be changed to a new setting of choice.
DESCRIPTION
Using the NZ PS-1 system as the basis, the engineers and designers of the N&Z umbrella corporation had devised a simple way to utilize the same principles learned from their smaller, personal defense systems and to simply enlarge the system for use on larger ships and as general shielding systems for buildings. They utilized the same techniques such as the highly conductive electrum wiring to avoid shortcircuiting or bottlenecking the input from reactors, utilizing Ersteel 145 to minimize the risk of the actual shield generator to overheat and also to create a safe, strong and durable, yet cheap casing for the generator to be housed within. A Tunqstoid core was used to ensure stability and add a further layer of protection against up close blasterfire or ballistic weaponry, firmly believing that a shield generator is to protect a ship, even when it is already boarded, to minimize any and all possible risks.

Additionally, the engineers developped a modular coding within the system, allowing for any ship's commander or operator of the shields in general to choose between two output varieties, which would allow for the shield to either be more focused on conventional weaponry or more against more electronic based weaponry, to allow for the best possible match up against enemy vessels or vehicles during combat, thus granting this shield a small edge over most competitors in its flexibility of use. Lastly, by simply scaling up the original system, it also retained it's general average weight, avoiding the more cumbersome weightclasses by not reaching extreme levels of defensive prowess, yet still be more than capable to last long and prevent much damage other shields would not be able to handle.
