SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Adjustable reach and intensity: This shield system, due to its nature as a field of electronic currents generating electromagnetism, may be expanded exponentially and with increased intensity to repel much larger objects compared to regular projectiles and ordinances, to better avoid unwanted collisions or debris on the battlefield. However, to use this intensified modus, it will require a lot of energy flowing from the ship or building's powersource into the shield generators, thus rerouting power away from weaponsystems connected to the same powersource.
STRENGTHS
  • Very Versatile: This shield is capable not only of stopping the majority of solid state projectiles and ordinances dead in their tracks, but also to safeguard the ship or building in question from debris, asteroids, collisions, etc.
  • Unusually good against EMP and Ion based weaponry: Whereas most shield systems are weak against electromagnetic pulses or Ion basedweaponry, the fact that this shield relies solely on a combination of generating a massive electromagnetic current, pushed outwards by a strong electromagnetic field, it is capable of thus withstanding most EMP weaponry which has a lower or equal intensity, while also being more than capable of removing or dispersing the majority of Ion based weaponry.
  • Excellent against solid projectiles: Solid projectiles, especially those with a magnetic or metallic material within their build are more easily stopped dead in their tracks by the electromagnetic current catching it and thus rendering them harmless.
WEAKNESSES
  • No Energy Resistance: Due to energy not being a solid state projectile, it will not get stuck into the electrical current and the best this shield system can do is possibly veering it off track a bit with the electromagnetic field, though this is generally seen as practically pointless.
  • Incendiary projectiles: Incendiary projectiles may still detonate prematurely when caught by the electromagnetic current and though this may or may not be all that big of a deal for the ship itself, such reactions may have unforeseen results and are quite the hassle to deal with.
  • Corrosives and non-mineral based weaponry: Corrosive weaponry such as sprays of acid or gasses are nearly impossible for this shield to react to or stop and are thus very effective. non-mineral or Silicon based weaponry with not a single trace of metallic material within may also pose a problem, as those are completely ignored by the electrical current and may only very slightly be effected by the magnetic field, but to a basically inconsequential extend.
DESCRIPTION
As the SS-1 shield system launched a few months prior was based on one of the personal defense systems of the N&Z corporation, so to was the NZ SS-2.eks designed to act as a larger variant on the portable NZ PS-2A EKS system, acting as a counter to many a solid state projectiles such as rounds, various missiles, etc. This also makes this shield all the more impressive, as though it is incapable of stopping the common turbolasers and other energy based weaponry, it is a very useful tool against the use of connor nets and penetrative projectiles. The fact that it utilizes both an electromagnetic field and an electronic current allow for it to even stand up against quite alot of EMP based and ION based weaponry compared to other shield systems on the market. Utilizing large magnets, electrum spools and wiring and an infinium 01458 core to generate massive electronic currents and contain parts of those in the infinium core allow for a secondary current to be pushed outwards and be maintained along the border of a large magnetic field around the ship or building it's being used on.
