OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create the newly founded Brentaal Guard for future roleplay.
  • Image Credit: Mordian Iron Guard Wiki
  • Role: System Army
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Links: N/A
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Brentaal Guard
  • Affiliation: Brentaal (officially), Macharian Industries Corporation (founder, funds and equipping), Rim-Guard Order (secretly)
  • Classification: Infantry, Artillery, Armored Support
  • Description: The Brentaal Guard is a newly formed military force, it is trained and drilled by ex-militaries from across the Galaxy, paying for the best and setting a strict guide for what the employer, the Brentaal system, is expecting of its soldiers. There is one word which is surrounding the entire regime of their training, their exercises and drills: discipline. The men and women joining are broken, their personalities replaced by cold-blooded, empty-minded killers who have nothing but their orders and their duty left. There is no free time for the Brentaal Guard, every moment not spent on the firing range or in melee pits is focused on perfect formation and parade work. No button is left unpolished, no stain on a boot and still they will shoot a hole into a coin from a hundred meters or engage the Bryn'adûl in melee without second thought.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Large
  • Unit Availability: Common
  • Unit Experience: Trained
  • Equipment: [ If your unit possesses any specialty equipment (weapons, armor, combat tools, star fighters, landing ships, etc.) list them and provide links here. Check the table below for production level and affiliation of any Factory submissions based on the unit's size and availability- those that are inappropriate will need to be changed. The unit may use equipment of the listed production or higher production values, but not lower. ]
    m9iV36K.png
  • Combat Function: Primarily a design for defence, the Brentaal Guard is tasked with defending the Brentaal System, its orbital holdings and starships to their last breath. They prefer amassed infantry, relying on discipline under and to fire to bring superior foes down, even fighting in tight lines to overcome their individual weaknesses and bolster their morale even further. Heavy squad based weapon deliver much needed fire support while strong artillery batteries shell the enemy from afar. Their use of armoured equipment is minor, but present, especially making use of fast mechanised infantry and light tanks to flank the enemy. They are disciplined machine, drilled both for land combat as well as aboard of starships and stations.
  • Recruitment: The Brentaal Guard is the home for all those who are trying to escape criminal punishment. A volunteer force, most individuals do not know what they are signing up for to avoid the courts. Composed of criminals, volunteers and other 'volunteers' who were basically lured into the army. They hold recruitment offices promising food, training and payment on many ecumenopolis worlds, especially in the lower sectors.
  • Organisation:
  • Infantry Regiment = Squad commanded by a Sergeant (10 men, one special weapon) < Platoon commanded by a Lieutenant (3x Squads + Command Squad (35)) < Company commanded by a Captain (4x Platoons + Command Squad + 3x heavy weapon teams (151)) < Battalion commanded by a Major (6x Companies + Command Squad (911)) < Regiment commanded by a Colonel (4x Battalion + Command Staff (~3.700))
  • Artillery Regiment = Battery commanded by a Captain (8x Guns, 8x Towing Vehicles, 2x Ammo Tanks, 76) < Battalions Artillery commanded by a Major (4x Batteries (32x Guns, 32x Towing Vehicles, 8x Ammo tanks, 304) < Regimental Artillery/Artillery Regiment commanded by a Colonel (4x Battalions Artillery + Reserve Ammo + Staff (128x Guns, 128x Towing Vehicles, 40x Ammo Tanks, ~1.300)
Strengths:
  • [ Provide, in list format, some strengths of this submission. 2 recommended. ]
Weaknesses:
  • [ Provide, in list format, some weaknesses of this submission. 2 recommended. ]
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
[ Include a description of the unit’s history here. How they were formed and by whom, past noteworthy battles, moral affecting defeats, where they are stationed if applicable, etc. ]

  • (Provide all of your submission's advanced systems, including non-combat items and special weapons, here in a list. Please link to all Factory Submissions used. Ensure significant capabilities from systems are included in the Strengths and Weaknesses lists. Examples include: Stealth systems, Advanced ECM systems, Crystal gravfield traps, HIMS, Molecular shields. Links: Starship Weapons, Approved Technology, Shields, Engines)
STRENGTHS
  • Plated Charger: The Bucephelus-class is built for direct combat, its weaponry designed to get rid of all types of warships, its armor and shields protecting it from damage in brawls while it engages the enemy straight on. It is desinged to punch a hole into a blockade or line to deliver its troops to battle. Its impressive array of weapons can annihilate all but the strongest armored or shielded opponents, its hull featuring a strong structure and the shields, especially due to the usage of Molecular shields, being difficult to overpower.
  • Invader: The class is designed to overcome planetary defences and carry its troops into battle, it can support invasions with its heavy weaponry and deliver devastating bombardements to either level defences or shoot them right for the taking. It supports a large landing force as well as being capable of delivering their airsupport.
  • Warmasters Choice: The ship is designed with the intention of leading both fleets and especially ground forces into battle and therefore boosts strong communication, sensor and scanning arrays, including Crystal gravfield traps. It shall concentrate and work through the large streams of information which are fed to it, giving them out in an instant to its subordinates.
WEAKNESSES
  • Starwalker: The Bucephelus-class is a ship designed for space and will not go deeper than into the upper atmosphere as the structural integrity of the ship is otherwise compromised and it will break apart.
  • Lumbering Behemoth: The battleships of this class are very slow to respond to rudder maneuvres and are therefore in a disadvantage to more agile ships, especially in close quarters where this class is meant to excel.
  • Sun, Sun, Sun: The Zakuulan Sun Generators are easy to sabotage with devastating effects. If someone succeeds to sabotage them and they charge up to full output, it is likely that an entire fleet can be annihilated due to the size and number of generators used on a single these ships.
  • Exhaust Pipes: The engine units of the Bucephelus are rather exposed and not entirely integrated into the hull itself, therefore they are easy targets when the shields are down.
  • No Magic Amulets: The ship has no defences against attacks based on the Force except for its size, mass and the common distance in space.
  • Reserve Program: The emergency program which is based around the entire control of the EPHEMERIS system can only be activated by a member of the Rim-Guard Order with a high security access and the ship can therefore be without control in case of a critical primary bridge takeout.

DESCRIPTION
Already before the Battle of Ilum the shortcomings of the Phalanx had led to requests to the engineers at Macharian Industries to develop something with a bigger tonnage which could also prevail in pitched battles. The Phalanx was definitely built for quick assaults and leadership of the Eternal Fleet in a scenario of galactic conquest, but not for prolonged combat without escorts and against heavily armoured warships.

The new class should still offer the characteristics of a planetary assault ship, while also being capable of fighting off enemy capital ships. The sacrifice would be speed. The Rim-Guard Order would only to a very limited amount conduct operations on its own in the current state and therefore speed to surprise enemies would not be elementary, just to keep with with enemies and allies alike.

It was important thought to maintain the flagship standards in regards to communication and coordinations, therefore the relays and sensors were with the best available systems. The inner structure was changed entirely and the Strategium made accessible directly from the Sanctum.

The structure itself was adopted to more pragmatic needs and considerations. The bridge was moved away from the outer hull with actual visual sight, but to the rearward center of the ship, below the halls of the Orders Sanctum. Critical hits to the bridge were virtually impossible from the outside, while instead of focusing on visuals, the bridge officers would focus on much more accurate data and readings. Additionally a second bridge with reserver stations for a skeleton crew headed by an EPHIMERIS system inside the halls of the Orders Sanctum was included to counter possible sabotage and system failures, even though it could only be unlocked by genertic code and personal password of a high ranking Order member.

The hangars itself were proctected by their own shield generators with swiftly closing hangar gates if the need should arise. Inside the areas were divided between the Orders vehicles and those belonging to the navy. Ordnance, ammunition and fuel was stored in secured, armoured and shielded magazines.

The Orders Sanctum is protected by a variety of security measures. A genetic code as well as a sigil are needed to gain access through the auromidium bulkheads which are always guarded by a pair of Paladins, automatic firing blasters and emergency blast doors. Behind the doors are the quarters, armouries and great halls which span several decks. They layout is unique on every ship though but all are devoted to the same principles of a combination of pragmatism, devotion and heroism. The individual cabins are without any luxuries, most not even having more than a bed, armor stand and desk. The main hall was decorated with auromidium and electrum, featuring statues of heroes from both Zakuul and the Order, large banners of red, blue, silver and gold hanging from the ceiling, weapon and armor displays at the side. Occupying the decks above the primary bridge, the Sanctum is still not close to the outer hull, a fortress inside the warmachine.

The ship itself does not follow the classical triangular shape of imperial-era ships, but has a boxy form, while being in a long cylindrical shape, with a larger section at the front, connected by pure gun decks to the major section with engines, bridge, sanctum at the back. The hull was designed to last even throug the heaviest of bombardment when the shields would go down and had multiple layers of strong sloped plating. The pure armor scheme would be that of a turtleback, a very strong outer hull with layer of less strong but heavily sloped layers of more armour around vital parts like reactors, engines, magazines and other vital parts.
The shields itself are multi-layered with several smaller shield generators spread across the hull to allow for independent supply and individual reinforcements by conducting energy to specific areas.

In terms of offensive capacities, the Bucephelus-class has the means to play on the big stage. Designed to bust through planetary shields as well as tearing through ship hulls or bunkers, its very heavy armament is a challenge for every enemy and an edge when supporting invasions. Utilising the maser technology together with more common weapons, these battleships will wreck havoc amongst small and ill protected adversaries.

STRENGTHS
  • Dread all, fear nothing: This heavy cruiser is, like its big brother the Bucephelus-class designed to oppose and fight planetary defences, support ground forces or get the own ground forces where they need to be. Therefore its weapons and defences are build to withstand and deliver heavy damage.
  • Invader: The class is designed to overcome planetary defences and carry its troops into battle, it can support invasions with its heavy weaponry and deliver devastating bombardements to either level defences or shoot them right for the taking. It supports a large landing force with tanks and droids.
WEAKNESSES
  • Small Family: The Vindictus-class has a very small complement of Starfighters and has no means to achieve air superiority except for with its main weapons. Therefore it needs dedicated carriers to support it in bigger fleeting actions or to provide general screening.
  • Spaceborn: The Assault Cruisers of this class are not capable of going lower than into the upper atmosphere of a world, their structure is not designed to be used in gravity.
DESCRIPTION
Macharian Industries built the new line of ships for the Rim-Guard Order in the new boxy and cylindrical design, taking the Bucephelus-class as guidance, the Vindictus-class was meant to operate on its own alongside allied units and support task forces, making the bulk of the ships which deliver the aura of influence of the Paladins to the most distant stars.

The ships are equipped with serious weapon systems which would make Star Destroyer jealous, as well as defences which can withstand a string of serious attacks, protecting the valuable cargo. The complement being Banners of Rim-Guard Paladins or battle-droid cohorts.

Next to being a heavy ship of the line, the ships main purpose is to support ground forces, both towards their landing and from then on, providing heavy long range firepower to strike at surface targets, blow up bunkers, fortifications and even provide AA support with its armament.
