  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: Chainsword
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Motor-propelled blade with rotating chains
  • Size: Large
  • Weight: Heavy
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Rotation regulation: The speed on how fast the blade rotates can be regulated.
STRENGTHS
  • Tearer: The weapon is designed to tear through strong plating or metal or organic matter, the teeth of the blade locking in between the individual plates or rifts and tearing them out or apart.
WEAKNESSES
  • Broken Tooth: If a surface does not allow to interlock or is entirely smooth and extremely thick (for example tank armour), the blade will have difficulties to be able to tear through or just do surface scratching while the teeth break.
  • Unhandy: The weapon is not for dueling or fencing, it is a heavy hack and slash blade, inferior in speed to more elegant and swift weapons. It needs a strong wielder to be worked efficiently.
DESCRIPTION
Following the abhorrent encounter with Bryn'adûl on Sev Tok, the High Imperator ordered Macharian Industries to develop a weapon which could deal with the large organic masses of the Bryn'adûl with a heavy blade.

Macharian Industries tested a variety of blades, differently curved ones, various metals even in conjunction with being vibroblades, but they effects were not meeting the high standards of the requesting party. Looking at a variety of tearing weapons, the weaponsmiths moved into a different area where hard organic masses were torn apart, sawed through. The experimenting with chainsaws and their blades proved very successful and the adaption came quickly and transformed the woodcutting tool into a deadly and savage weapon.
