SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Its small profile - for a tank - makes it easier to conceal when conducting recon or on patrol and a more difficult target to hit should it be detected. Various items make it more difficult to spot the tank at long range or get a reliable target lock on it.
  • The package is comparatively compact, but the Koursores has a good deal of firepower, enabling it to defend itself and provide fire support for allied troops.
  • Flexible. Due to its light size and small frame, the Koursores can be air-dropped into a target area. Dropships with tractor beams can help lower it out during a 'no land drop'. As it hovers over the surface, the tank can also cross over water, mud or any flat surface impassible to wheeled vehicles.
WEAKNESSES
  • Its relatively small frame and light weight work both ways. The armour is decent, but if the primary cannon of a main battle tank scores a direct hit on a Koursores, it will hurt. The tank is fast and can hit hard, but is not made for direct slugfests.
  • Weak rear armour.
  • Like all repulsor or other vehicles, the Koursores struggles in heavy or broken terrain. Forests, mountains or city strees limit its speed and access.
DESCRIPTION

The Koursores has been designed by Firemane to fulfil the role of a light rank. It lacks the heavier armour of a main battle tank, but compensates with greater speed and manoeuvrability. Moreover, its firepower is respectable, allowing it to perform in an infantry support role. In that regard it occupies an intermediate role between an IFV and an MBT. It lacks the infantry transport capacities of the former and has less room for cargo, but has more firepower and better protection while still being fast and agile compared to the latter. It has been built with expeditionary forces in mind. It will operate in situations where the threats allied forces face are less severe or a main battle tank is not cost-effective. It can patrol, perform recon and support allied troops. Its speed can allow it to harass and skirmish heavier tanks.

Much like classical cavalry units, it can perform in a screening role to shield allied troops from ambushes. Moreover, the crew can function as a mobile observation post to mark targets for air and orbital strikes. To this end, the tank features a powerful sensor and communications suite. Its sensors can scan a wide variety of spectrums and the communications systems can cut through jamming systems and communicate with ships in orbit. In addition, it features a laser target designator and a laser sensor system.

Finally, the Koursores is easier for atmospheric and sea vessels to transport than a main battle tank, and thus may accompany allied troops that are deployed to land and establish a bridgehead in enemy territory. An example would be landing on an island, where it can help crack bunkers and the like. Moreover, it can be deployed in low-velocity air drops dropships. This means it can offer support for paratroopers or drop pod infantry who have been dropped behind enemy lines and will otherwise have to go without heavy support until the main force arrives.

The Koursores has a potent array of sensors, scanners and communications systems. However, the downside of the Koursores' greater tactical and strategic flexibility is that its small frame and light weight makes it more susceptible to heavy enemy firepower. It can move fast and has serious firepower, but is not great taking a beating.
