STRENGTHS
  • Hawk-Bat Out Of Hell. This ship is insanely fast at lightspeed and has high sub-light and atmospheric performance for a star destroyer of its size.
  • Multiple Layers of Overlapping Defense. Deflector shielding and electronic jamming fields provide dual-layer defensive screens against kinetic and non-kinetic attack. Point-Defense batteries incorporate both ion and laser cannons for anti-starfighter or anti-missile ranging. As a final precaution, the ship boasts uprated hull armor.
WEAKNESSES
  • Baffles. Due to electromagnetic interference generated by the primary drive engines, the ship's com-scan is ineffective in scanning the area aft of the ship.
  • 270-degree Firing Arc. Main weapons do not cover the aft area, leaving the engines vulnerable.
  • Unique Electromagnetic Signature. Corellia Defense vessels use a unique Hoersch-Kessel ion drive design for their sublight propulsion. The resulting engine wash is faintly radioactive. This electromagnetic signature was distinguishable from background cosmic radiation and allowed the vessels to be tracked or detected.
DESCRIPTION
Once a ship-of-the-line for the Old Republic, the Intervention met an untimely end in 20BBY at the hands of Jedi General Anakin Skywalker, when he crashed the ship on the planet Boz Pity. The astonishingly intact wreckage of the Intervention was discovered by the Silver Sanctum Coalition in 844ABY, during civil affairs actions in that sector. With the threat of the Galactic Alliance-One Sith War threatening to spill into the Corellian System, and Corellia Digital's outreach into the vast Kathol Outback, Sor-Jan Xantha saw the need for a high mobile manufacturing ship and repair depot capable of protecting itself from a variety of threats.

With the permission of the governing Silver Jedi council, Sor-Jan leveraged contacts at Sasori Research and Lucerne Labs in order to effect the salvage of the Intervention wreckage and return it to space. Using modern avionics and components from Silk Holdings and Firemane, the Intervention was transformed from a troop carrier of the Clone Wars into a floating factory with substantial resources intended to support Corellia Digital's expansion into the Kathol Outback. From 845 ABY until 851 ABY, the re-launched Intervention operated as a floating factory whose armament was scaled back consistent with its mandate of peaceful, scientific exploration. The number of main weapons was reduced by two in order to install ion cannons in their place.

Following the declaration of the Sith-Imperial Bloc Treaty and the collapse of the Outer Planets Alliance, the Intervention was reconfigured to restore its war-time arsenal. The ion cannons were removed and replaced with long-range turolasers, while the original heavy dual turbolaser turrets were restored to full operating capacity. Its launch tubes were also replaced with modern ion pulse missiles. Due to the company's illicit dealings with the Agents of Chaos, the vessel also unofficially carried military-grade assault proton torpedoes. These alterations brought the Intervention in line with contemporary star destroyers in terms of its offensive capabilities.

Despite the additional armament, the Intervention was primarily intended for use as a mobile headquarters for the intergalactic corporation. As with the original design, the port bridge tower handled the navigation of the ship itself. However, with modern droid automation, the port bridge tower also managed starfighter flight operations as well, the role originally intended for the starboard bridge tower. In lieu of that function, the starboard bridge tower contained the Galactic Operations Center, which tracked and monitored the subspace radio and telecommunications networks operated by Corellia Digital.

Internally, it was appointed like a cruise liner, with opulent entertainment venues meant to showcase Corellia Digital's holo-vid and holo-gaming technology. The ship featured a full, commercial holo-vid theater as well as a large hologame arcade. The number of human crew was reduced through increased reliance on droids and automation. Its master and crew were largely sourced from the Levantine Astronautical Academy, through the company's outreach and internship programs.
