The A.A.D.E. represents the latest in cutting edge research into analytical data processing power. A fully autonomous droid brain, the A.A.D.E. is an analytical droid core that runs multiple layers of program analysis in order to derive a variety of options for dealing with any given scenario. Protocol and program variables can then be combined in order to allow the droid brain to distinguish a 'best' option that takes into account more than mere number crunching. It is not a dedicated battle droid. Rather than viewing the operational theater from the lens of 'soldier' and 'enemy', the A.A.D.E. identifies and distinguishes between hostile forces, potentially hostile forces, non-combatants, potential allies, and allied resources.
The downside of this distinction between being an analyst droid or a battle droid is that the A.A.D.E. analyzes the full spectrum of available options. If a tactical retreat is the most advantageous approach to an engagement, it will execute a retreat rather than stand and fight. The upside is that it is better able to adapt to the frequently complex environment of the Outer Rim, where allies and enemies may change face several times -- including over the course of a single engagement. It is also better able to adapt its strategies and actions to the presence of civilians or non-combatants, such as emergency medical personnel, on the battlefield.
