Faction GADF Automatic Blaster Trials

Rise Above Your Station, Soldier.

lqa8OC1.jpg

Fort Bastion
Corellia
14:00 Hours
Special Projects Range

Objective 1: Test out new rifles.
Semi-Social
With war upon the GA once more, the GADF had gone through many bureaucratic processes to update their equipment. Contracts had been put out, and the arms manufacturers of the GA had answered. Lupa paced around, waiting for the many engineers to begin setting up. This time, she'd asked for a new automatic blaster, ready to allow the men on the ground suppressive fire. She knew what she wanted, but she was sure the geeks would overdeliver with something she didn't expect.

The Fort was alive, as Lupa had opened the floor for any grunt who wanted to stop by to try out the experimental tech. She's always had a belief that, no matter the equipment, a private will tell you more about it than a lieutenant ever will. Maybe it was her time during the last war, but she knew with this new war, they'd need to hone their equipment for what the boys needed, rather than what command thought they did.

"Alright, all set General Visz." One of the engineers confirmed, each of the different prototypes set up.

"Thank you." She nodded, looking to each of the selections. "Let's start with the VSF Model."

Objective Two: Rifle Training
Social
Down the Range, a set of 30 stations had been set up to allow troops to test out the newly adopted BHSR-1, allowing men to get a feel for the new blaster. Aloy Vizsla Aloy Vizsla , it's designer, had been personally invited by Lupa to allow her to speak with the men on the ground, and provide feedback to the men using it. While Lupa wasn't overseeing this, she was still present and expected the boys of the GADF to treat the mando with upmost respect.

"JUst like I remember" SHe said it as the transport was coming in. Willa was one of the few soldiers who had gone from Republikc Havok to Ranger to Paladin and she usually was the one to test out the weapons and armor from Sasori's advanced weapons division. THis was no different... aside from she would get to see the other weapons that were in competition for the contract. The Vahla stepped out of the lift from the Windu Class Jedi Corvette as her hand came up. A small cylinder going from her upper slip pocket that looked closer to a code cylinder before it popped open. The wrapped cigar a mixture of chandrilla design and Sasori engineering when she placed it in her mouth and her thumb flicked up.

The flame igniting while the vahla breathed it in. The armor on her gleaming black Jericho Class MK VII Armor while she walked. The case with the Anisphia Platform in it. SHe had a few looks as she didn't look like a seller... she was the soldier but she built weapons for what had been encountered and what might be encountered. She thought it... Sasori's engineers made it and then she tested it out like this and pitched it where needed. Her armor was sleek under the leviathan hide cloak. She stood there before blowing out a line of smoke from the cigar. The area around herself shimmering as the wish plant within altered the lightning so the contrast of her armor was darker, her skin paler with visible tattoos.

OBJECTIVE 1

Slowly, one by one the members of “Omega Squad” walked into the Projects range, all of them carrying gear and weapons, be it stowed in a case, or slung over a shoulder. None of them really looked like they wanted to train and do this, but Bren accepted the call out so he would not force any of them to do so. Weapons check as normal and start SMR training, we’re going to be focusing on power and distance for right now. With a combined “Hoorah” the others grabbed his weapons, and turned on their heels heading out to the other parts of the facility.

Checking in at a nearby desk, but not before taking off his helmet, Bren offered a salute to the General before waiting his turn.

... yeah, I scare them.

It was her first time on an Alliance military base since, well ever. The last time they'd all been Republic, if any of those were still in use. Knowing governments that was likely though. Still Chi appreciated that the Port Master had been kind enough to dispatch a cargo speeder and diver for her and Ji-Ji's new droid body and the cargo of guns, generators, and power packs they were bringing to the shoot out. Arriving at their destination, she finished chatting with the corporal while Ji-Ji unloaded the crates from the back of the vehicle.

Saying her goodbyes, Chi used a little device on the remaining weapons crates before shouldering one on each side as if the 50kg cases weighed little more than a pillow to take them over to the section set up for the Boutique. The two of them had brought a case of the rejected Vectors and their launchers, hoping for feedback on them, as well as four of the new Spitfire masers. Of the heavy weapons, two were swiftly mounted to tripods and tied into portable generators, the others had power packs and slings attached and were set up to be fired from either the hip or prone with the bipod.

Now what to do about drawing attention to their little spot? Returning to the line of weapons, Chi brought one of the mounted masers up to her shoulder, checked the charge from the generator was good, flicked off the safety, and sent a stream of blue lasers down range to obliterate a durasteel target. Pausing to look over her work before re-safing the heavy repeater. "I think that'll do it." Ji-Ji's rich voice, dry with humor, intoned from behind her.
"Let's hope, the last exhibition was rather dull and I'd like to talk tech with at least some people. while we're here."

For once in quite a long time, colonel Foster had gone planetside, and more specifically to Corellia where the Alliance held a test or practice day for an all new weapon system. The weapon would possibly also end up with the navy and the marines, so that was part of the reason that she was here. The holographic camo device of her armor was set to urban warfare and thus its black setting. With the helmet under her arm and the hair in a tight braid, from a spectating position close to general Lupa Visz Lupa Visz , she watched the grunts of Lt. Bren Alazar Lt. Bren Alazar enter the compound along with a few more Alliance personel eager to test out the newly acquired weapons.

''I really hope the soldiers like it. Can't go wrong with a weapon designed by the Mandalorians, can you?'' Kathryn chuckled, while she followed the test by the generals side.

Vulpesen stood proudly in the room as the soldiers lifted the Lycanthrope from its pedestal. While Vulpesen was no master craftsman himself, his people saw a religious beauty in a well working weapon, and thus, all it took was for him to offer ideas for his engineers to get to work. Their most recent project, now stood in with the rest of the weapons making a bid for the new GADF contract. In terms of look, the Lycanthrope might not have been the absolute most beautiful of pieces, but it would get the job done.

"Garlan, show 'em how its done," the Valde said, motioning the captain of his guard forward to lift the VSF made weapon. Captain Garlanh had been with Vulpesen since before trident company had even had a name, even then, the wild natured zorren had held a taste for destruction. It showed in the way he easily shouldered the weapon, the repeating blaster fitting against him like it was the perfect piece of a puzzle.

"She ain't my launcher, but she'll do. What do you wanted blasted, boss? And how dead do you want it?"
The two questions brought a smirk to Vulpesen's face and he looked over to Lupa Visz while the captain did one more once over of his weapon. Garlan 's weapon of choice had always been some sort of grenade launcher, the boisterous man preferring an equally boisterous armament. When it came to his men, Vulpesen trusted noone more than Garlan when it came to making things go boom. However, like all members of Trident company, and particularly those with tenure, Garlan had proven himself proficient with all weaponry within the arsenal.

"You're running the show here, General. I assume you got some sort of targets for us to show off with."

Rise Above Your Station, Soldier.

Bren offered a salute to the General before waiting his turn.
As men started piling in, The General made sure to salute each one of them back. This was her chance to really warm up the men, with the war coming. They needed unity, and with the Dark Empire now within their borders, Morale was more important now than ever.
"Let's hope, the last exhibition was rather dull and I'd like to talk tech with at least some people. while we're here."
Lupa watched as the designers started piling in as well. She hoped with all the new tech, the GA would stand a fighting chance. Sasori, VSF, this new Boutique girl...

The General wondered about that one. Did this Chuchi company have the manufacturing capability to keep up their promises? She hadn't heard of them before, and the GADF wasn't some sole planet entity, it was the largest military in the galaxy.

...and where was Si Tech? They were supposed to have a representative coming...

''I really hope the soldiers like it. Can't go wrong with a weapon designed by the Mandalorians, can you?''
Lupa sighed. "Here's hoping, at least. Command seems to like the company, but I didn't get a say in that race. Hope the grunts enjoy it at least, that's all I care about. If they don't...well, that'll be future me's problem."
"You're running the show here, General. I assume you got some sort of targets for us to show off with."
She blew out a breath. Alright, time to get the show on the road. "Of course." She turned to the head engineer, a Bothan of a shorter stature. "Get the full she-bang ready for them."

The bothan nodded, and soon after a full set of holographic targets appeared down range. Imperial Stormtroopers, Cataphract Hover-tanks, and finally an AT-ST in the back.

"That sufficient, Master Wilder?"

Objective 1: Rifle Testing
After Teta, Ashley needed a break, something to let off some steam. She had lost a man, and that ate at her if she focused on it too hard.

Arriving on the base, Ashley came to the special weapons testing range with an itchy trigger finger, and a want for some destruction.

"General." She addressed, with a mutual salute, before looking at the range. "We gonna be letting the grunts play with the new toys, or are the nerds only getting a turn?"

She moved, looking at where the people were gathering and setting up. The case in one hand as she approached when targets appeared downrange and her eyebrow raised in approval. Going to a small area and setting the case up so when the time came she could use the weapon... It would also give her a good view of the other ones being shown off. She bit down for a moment on the cigar while opening the case up and showing the twin bars that would make the rifle and more. TUrning on the converters for them as it linked to her INterface displaying the systems within as well as targeting. She was looking at the holograms and registering them for herself while the test for the Vitae forces could be there. A long way from just a jedi member so she wanted to see it.

You know those scary types that you don't want to meet in a dark alley?

Sitting down at an empty stall, Bren waited for a rifle to be brought to him, and one was, in its own unique case, nice. Immediately looking over the compartments, and checking if power cells, or slugs, or whatever were held in him, he moved on to opening the clasps and removing the firearm, placing it on the counter in front. Once the travel case was moved to the floor at his feet, Bren picked up the weapon and began to look it over from different angles.

Then ultimately began to take it apart.

The stalk, the scopes, the lights, the bi-pod, and so on. The slide, the powercell intake, piece by piece neatly put on the counter near where it would go as the weapon shell lay on the counter itself.

navy-seals-dive-operations-1800.jpg

Bren was not disassembling the weapon to reveal anything “corporate” meaning, he was not trying to figure out every little technological marvel, but he learned long ago from Captain Mueller to never fire a weapon without knowing it inside and out. What if it jammed? What if the heat detector malfunctioned? What if everything went analogue? He (or whoever) needed to fix this in the field.

There were no real concerns, she disassembled easily, and came together nicely. Putting the weapon down and taking notes of everything, the Special Forces Operator wanted to record every minute detail so as not to leave anything out. One thing that Bren did not like was how heavy the weapon was, but attributed that to his preference (and Special Forces needs) for a lighter balanced rifle with “quick click” handling. There were some aspects that could be added here too, but that was more speculation until he began shooting.

Yeah, yeah we scare them.

Vulpesen rose a brow at the holograms that appeared then turned to Garlan, who's permanent smirk had become a wide fanged smile. "Bit heavy over there for an auto-rifle. Can you handle it captain?" Despite the question, Vulpesen himself held a somewhat similar, if not more subdued, expression. Reaching into his pocket, Vulpesen pulled out a trio of small capsules which he tossed to the captain.

"C'mon, boss. Set 'em up, and I'll knock 'em down." With a practiced ease, the zorren captain loaded the capsules into the back of the weapon, brought it to his shoulder, flicked the fire mode switch and pointed it down range at the AT-ST. Rather than fire immediately, Garlan reached down, plucked a large powercell from the table in front of him and slammed it directly into the first, loading them together with an affirmative beep from the weapon. The first massive shot, was notably, not a spray of automatic blaster fire, but rather, a single massive bolt which went through the hologram, instantly switching it to indicate a destroyed target. The next was the tanks. The Lycanthrope, like perhaps most machine guns, even those of the heavy variety, was not made for dealing with heavy armor. That didn't mean Garlan wouldn't do his best. Keeping his sights on the viewports, Garlan fired three shots into each of the two tanks until they showed neutralized, easily standing up to the weapon's heavier recoil each time. "Mean buggers y'all are." he growled halfheartedly to the general as he dropped the two powercells and reloaded with another.

"Lets get started."
Flicking the switch again and pulling the trigger, Garlan sent an impressive spray of fire down range at the targets, his dense musculature allowing him to easily control the recoil. About half way through taking out the infantry troops however, Garlan reached forward and flicked the bipod down to rest the weapon on the table. A three tone trill could be heard emitting from the rear of the weapon by Garlan's face. In response, he simply reached up, pushed a button on the top, then grinned at the satisfying hiss of cryo-ban rushing down to cool the barrel. Then, he pulled the trigger.

The first spray of fire had some at an impressive rate. This next spray was terrifying. Leaning heavily into the weapon on the table, Garlan seemed to wrestle it with a manic glee as it unleashed a flood of bolts so dense it seemed to be a single beam of energy, sweeping through the holograms and declaring them deceased with lethal efficiency. It wasn't long before the Lycanthrope emitted another trill, once again silenced at the push of a button and the hissing of coolant. When it was all said and done, Garlan grinned, sat back, and reloaded the weapon before turning to face the assembled higher officers. "Let the others take her for a spin. She ain't pretty, but boy can she dance."

"I'll take it. Lt. Ashley Nevermore, reporting." The shocktrooper saluted Vulpesen Vulpesen as she took the weapon for herself. "...bit heavy." She noted, looking it over, hefting it onto the firing platform. Once more, the holograms appeared within the range area, Ashley taking a chance to feel out the weapon's sights.

"...irons are a little weird." She noted, before opening up with her first burst. She really should've brought Bumpkin or...She frowned, opening up on the stormtroopers. "Little low on the fire rate, but still hits the same as what my boys are using. Next time, gimme a bit more of a spray." She paused, fiddling with the weapon for a moment. There it was. "...Powershot?" She chuckled. "Not sure I want my AR guy dealing with armor, but I like the gumption of it." She held the trigger down, and...waited. Finally, a massive bolt fired and 'killed' the tank. "...that charge is gonna get men killed. Don't like it."

The Bloodsucking Philanthropist
Three Gun-Works employees, Field Testers in all blue jumpsuits, quickly entered the testing area carrying a large number of cases, which the set up on a nearby table.

The Weapon that was removed from the first case wasn't as fancy looking as some of the other examples. But the design was simplistic and unpretentious, designed to be carried on the go with as little hassle as possible.

It was slowly set up, fitted with a tripod and scope, along with a sling. The devices they had designed for it were on another table on full display.

This was one of the most ambitious move yet made by the relatively obscure weapons company. The weapon had been purpose built to try and win the contract, providing a balance, of weight and fire power, along with as many ways to deploy that fire power as possible. Plus, they had one advantage they knew it would be difficult for The GADF to ignore:

How inexpensive they could make it to purchase, and how uncomplicated it would be to repair. They had not tried to reinvent the wheel as some weapons developers might have. What they had done, was turn to older, proven technology and combined their functions in new ways.

The Designers however remained cautious in their optimism. The weapon could get rejected for any number of reasons.

But they were willing to bet that their design was the only one present capable of firing under water. That little advantage was almost certain to turn heads when they got to talking about it.

The EFR Heavy Blaster, if all went well, could hopefully steal the show. As they saw targets set up, all that waited was for an enterprising soul from the military to come test out the weapon...

Other than a few wandering soldiers there didn't seem to be much interest in her weapon as of yet. Most of the action was in the section a little ways down from the Boutique's, a competitor names Vitae Security Forces. Which sounded more like a mercenary group to her mind, but then her own company's name was misleading these days as well.

Ji-Ji seemed to have things well in hand at her own set-up, the few wanders taking an interest were being professional and taking turns. So she made her way over to the current weapon of interest. Reaching the area in time to hear the latest tester give her commentary, Chi reminded herself not to voice her own opinions unless asked for them, she wasn't here to neg someone else's creation, and it was likely hers was just as flawed in ways she'd overlooked beyond its heft. It was clear at a glance that while most people had gone for a carried weapon that could be mounted, she had approached the challenge from the other direction in the belief that the performance was worth it.

You know those scary types that you don't want to meet in a dark alley?

The other members of the 209th had stopped their own training sessions to come over and watch the “EL-TEE” play with the new toy. The thing was “Big Bertha” heavy, something he did not prefer, but there were those who did. They were on the far end, so ones who might be interested in their techniques would have to walk over and listen, not “eavesdrop”, not like any of them were hiding anything. Between each burst of fire, there was something noticeable to anyone who was watching. Bren seemed to be instinctively switching positions and looking for something. Sometimes he appeared to find what he was looking for, but more often than not Bren appeared to simply adapt.

navy-seals-dive-operations-1800.jpg

Powershots… auto-fire… room sweeping… marksmanship… There were test fires for most, if not all situations that were asked for, and some that were not. Each member had the chance to sit in the stall and test the weapon. Theirs were short usage, making sure to give time to the next guy. When everyone was finished, they huddled for a moment as “Michael” was taking notes. There was little to no disagreement among them until finally they all nodded, and went back to their own weapons training.

Bren took the next few minutes to let the weapon cool down as he wrote on his datapad, he was clearly writing a review of the weapon. Not wanting to miss anything, the operator was clearly taking his time until finally grabbing his own rifle and slinging it over his neck so it hung down in front of him(if they did not need him for another weapon, he would join his teammates, but he WAS available for more, it’s why he was here) Bren cased up the weapon and brought it back, putting it down on the the main counter.
Offering a good attempt at being jovial, social, and welcoming (Special Forces are often introverts because of their focus). Offering his datapad to whomever would want to read it, his explanation was simple.

My review.

Code:
[B]Strongest Feature-[/B]
Sweeper (best to “sweep” a room of targets)
Anti - Personnel
Vehicle Mounted
Bi-Pod Emplacement
Tactical/Controlled fire

[B]Not Recommended-[/B]
Long Range
Marksmanship
Sustained Fire
C.Q.B. unless in cover position.

Can be used as a strong “anti-mech” weapon in a pinch.
Should be monitored for barrel temperature constantly.
Have spare powercells prepared for quick-load.
(easy to forget with cells being stackable.

Recommendation:
Not a bad weapon at all for “standard issue”. If this is going
To be the type of weapon that is used to provide cover fire for
Team members who might be tactically retreating or pushing
Enemy forces back then were a good weapon to use.

It is surprisingly modular, could be a great mounted anti-
Personnel weapons on tanks and gunships. One weakness
Though is the sights and the lack of ability to use different types.
Mind you, a telescopic is not at all necessary, a reflex, or a
Holographic would do wonders.

Do no recommend powershot unless in extreme situations.
Recommended for General infantry for "heavy" weapons operators
In squad based assignments.
Overall Grade - 86/100

Vulpesen and his Cpatain both shared a glance, eyebrows raised at the apparent reviews, one verbal, one on a datapad. Garlan was the first to laugh, a boisterous bark which overshadowed the Valde's small chuckle. "Alright, Captain. You get the Lt. Grimm. I got Lt. Wantsmore." Turning towards Ashley Nevermore Ashley Nevermore , Vulpesen ambled over to her, bent to the weapon and flicked the indicator switch. "You're gonna want that weight unless you want this thing to kick you back onto your ass. As for the fire rate, brace yourself and try again. That power shot is meant for emergencies when AT is down or taking their time to line up and avoid back blast. But the Super charge setting will give you all the spray you want and more." He glanced up at the woman, his golden eyes twinkling with mischief. "Or did you think my captain threatened his weapon into firing ten times as fast for those last targets?" He reached back and with a few waves of his fingers, unzipped a nearby duffle bag and called a holosight into his hand. "And if you don't like the sights, this thing goes right here," he said, tapping the top rail of the weapon. "But this was a competition of weapons. Not toys. We weren't sure what ranges you would have us shooting at so we left it open to adjust as necessary."

Garlan for his part made his way to Lt. Bren Alazar Lt. Bren Alazar and barked at one of his own men to retrieve a 'goody bag.' "Not to question your qualifications, but I'd think a spec ops guy would recognize one of those," he started, pointing at the top of the Lycanthrope. "'s called a rail. Lets you attatch things like," he paused to reach into the duffle brought by one of his men, producing a pair of optics, one a long range scope, the other a simple holosight, "these. And I get you wanna be quick, but its an auto-rifle. You're not firing it one shot at a time, so that weight is gonna come in handy to handle the recoil. Hell, you might want to load up on those stack mags if you're gonna supercharge it. Might help you hold on for the ride. If you want something lighter, we have the alsatian or the jackal, but we thought this was a competition for something that dropped the hammer."

Ashley raised an eyebrow at Vulpesen Vulpesen "I'm well aware, but I know my boys aren't gonna like lugging this thing around. Especially with how much PT we do in full kit." That said... "It works for what it is. I just don't like that charge time. If it's meant for emergencies, then I don't wanna have a wait two seconds to let that thing coil up before I can kill a tank. Seconds is all it takes for the tank gunner to turn me to mist. Not a fan. Let's see how the other models stack up, at least."

Ashley looked over to the General, motioning.

The Bloodsucking Philanthropist
"Uh, excuse me? We're ready over here!" called out one of the Gun-Works employees, eager for one of the soldiers to try out their EFR Heavy Blaster . Everything was set up, ready for inspection. Standard kit and Loadouts. The Weapon could be used as either a means of suppressing movement of troops over a wide area or even as burst fire sniper rifle. Targets had been set up, and to entice potential interested soldiers they set up a test fire on a dummy in scavenged Sith Trooper armor in front of a high strength force field background with a thick safety barrier behind it.

A slightly sharp whine escaped, as it spit out a stream of shots whose blue bolts traveled much faster than normal blaster bolts. The armor *shredded and melted through one end straight out of the other on the first 25 shot burst fire. A second burst reduced it's torso to slag...

The General let out a sigh. Designers weren't soldiers, and often didn't understand discipline. Alright, Gun-works next then.

Walking over, Lupa herself looked over the rifle. "Decent work, though the look is a bit...old school." Wouldn't matter if the weapon performed well, but she knew grunts would complain regardless. " Ashley Nevermore Ashley Nevermore Lt. Bren Alazar Lt. Bren Alazar , over here next. Give it a look see." The general looked over to Vulpesen Vulpesen as well. "Wilder, bring your boys over. I'd appreciate an outside opinion from someone who isn't necessarily a designer or a soldier."
