Why are they acting this way? Zombies all up in their spacegrill. "Ask me its too much late holonight TV, parents ain't doing nothin' to set a good example." Kas flipped a slug round in his hand, the lucky bullet slotted back at his waist. “‘'Preciate the assist,” the Mandalorian said to Sergi, “looks like a...” couldn’t say party with the wounded… “messy day.” Tapping the barrel of his fusion rifle hissing with warmth from the heat, placing it on the ground to kick some dirt over it.

Sarcastic or not to what was going on, his way of dealin'. Kas's head snapped to attention, there was something else on sensors, weird holonet reports fed to his headlink. He went deathly quiet as he looked for it. Something larger, not sure of the direction. “Somethings off.” The Mandalorian jetted off a short distance above them for a good view, was he running off? Pfft crusaders running off, he’d be running at it if anything. "Spot check. Nada up here."

Because they were digging UNDERGROUND
He reattached his weapon to the second point on his sling to hold it in place and holstered his hand cannon. He then immediately reached down and unbuckled the man's own sling for his rifle, the bandoliers for his ammo and grenades, and stripped the backpack off of him. Thankfully none had the dark oozing substance coming from the man's helmet and he walked over to set them towards the lady and her compatriot.

"Ma'am if you know how to use this then I suggest you take it, we need to move and recover our objective before this place gets overrun. I'll explain more on the way, but for now we need to move. Sergei then went back to the corpse and started looking through the chest piece for a particular part as he needed more time. And then he found what he was looking for. A small cannister that was the now dead operative's sealed air. Sergei quickly swapped his empty out for it and breathed a small sigh of relief. The idiot hadn't turned on his internal air supply which meant the tank was full, and sealed so no contamination was possible. He had more time, and they needed to move. He looked back at Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner and his own soldier had already stripped the other fallen operative, placing the gear on the ground for an easier pickup to them all to get extra ammo and equipment. Sergei then spoke quickly and decisively through a low power speaker/local comms to the people around him.

"We've been here too long, we need to move. Grab what you can or want, and stay behind me, we have an Exarch to save,"

Eira looked down at the gun handed to her, a wary edge hitting her features as she took it between inside her hands. No one had answered her, but quick thinking filled in the biggest gaps of her questions. Soldiers were everywhere. Politicians were being evacuated. The craze must have taken over the whole city.

The

City

Eira stood stock still for a moment, then shook her head, dispersing her shock. Right. Time to find her sister and leave then. The soldiers seemed to have their own plans, but she was having none of it. She wasn’t one of them, gun in her hand or otherwise. Sergei ordered they moved out, she stood her ground, plucking at buttons on her holopod. A shrill ringing filled the air, the girl attempting the most mundane but reasonable move possible— call her sister.

She stood tense in place, her shoulders rising higher as each ring was met unanswered ...

Woo wee wee— The number you have dialed is out of service.

Eira looked up sharply, the already pale figure turning a fair shade whiter. She dialed again, unwilling to accept it. Any attempt to speak to her would receive a hand snapping upwards, gesturing firmly to shut up.

Woo wee wee— the number you have—

“Sisters above,” she cursed, her heart pounding rapidly. She wouldn’t think of it— she wouldn’t even consider what this might mean. She turned to the solider that meantion an exarch —and surely there were such thing as there being more than one, but the mention of them was a fair good place to start— her expression fierce.

“Where is Srina Talon Srina Talon ?” She demanded, expecting he possess answers he might have never crossed to behind with. This capitol was big, and her sister? Was she not just one of many? Eira’s grasp on the political climate was lacking, but her air of expectation remained unchanged none the less.

Above, the Mando scanned around them. She didn’t pay him heed, only one thing on her mind. Srina better not be dead.

It’s a virus…it’s the virus. Blackwing or something. They’ve quarantined the entire planet.
This was Caedyn's first time hearing about the Blackwing Virus, his arms lifting around Asaraa Vaashe Asaraa Vaashe as she drummed at his chest a couple times with closed hands, before seeking his embrace while explaining only a little more as to why she was in such a state. What started off as a potential break away from the Outer Rim had turned into something similar to an assignment the Jedi Knight might take on...-But things seemed to be going from bad to worse and seeing Asaraa in such a state was enough to force Caedyn to take things a little more seriously.

Asaraa gave herself far too little credit as far as being a Jedi was concerned, though Caedyn was technically not without bias in this regard, given how he felt about her. Even still, they had both gone through horrific times together, battling the Sith and escaping life threatening situations before. She had almost given up her own life in order to fuel the forces of the Silver Jedi through battle meditation during their last big scrap...-While she doubted herself, for Caedyn it was difficult to imagine not admiring her as much as he did.

"Okay, Asa..." Caedyn spoke up, still holding her tightly against him and trying to word himself in a way as to be sensitive to her feelings; She seemed quite the mess where as he was lacking in the understanding of what this Virus actually was. It had yet to hit the Outer Rim and he'd had his hands full lately, not catching word of it until now. "Babe...-I need you to calm down a bit and tell me a little more about this thing..." he tried to encourage her to put her mind to the situation before them, hoping that it might distract her from focusing on the weight of her emotions long enough to kick her back into a sense of 'business' mode. A state of the mind, where a Jedi puts their head to the present and retains their professionalism. Pushing back their emotions for the time being.

Resting his chin lightly atop of Asaraa's head as he held her, his eyes took to the City district around them, searching for some indication or direction to take. It was clear that the Civilians around them were frightened, panicked and some were running for their homes whilst sirens could be heard overhead. As of yet, there was nothing in sight in terms of visible confrontation, but that didn't take away from the threat of the situation.

"Xhi'cam's got to have a security force holed up somewhere right?" He asked Asaraa, voicing his thoughts in the hope that she might follow in his want to get a handle on the situation; "If people are sick, there's got to be somewhere they're being quarantined and there are doctors...-Scientists or someone that knows more about this thing?".

Taiia stood quietly as she smiled at the Nightmother while responding to Taiia’s question mentioning something called a Force Storm “Duely noted” At the same time she heard the droid nearby tell them to stop and then requested something to defoliate, a term which she assumed that was a nice way of saying dropping a large bomb on a target. She stood patiently, her armor was tight on her but it would help with any unfortunate incidents, she had forgone her typical robes for something a bit more robust this time, her red hair swaying gently in the breeze with her lightstaff still ignited in her right hand the silver blades shimmered and hummed with power. She once again directed her attention to the Nightmother. Her instruction to them to secure the air around them was simple but in matter of fact and application it was not. Quietly she nodded and then closed her eyes a moment choosing to draw on the power she was most familiar with and with a sharp draw of breath in she reached out through the Force, not forcing it but asking for its help and she felt a soft touch on her body as a skin formed over her before she opened her eyes and exhaled with a small smile.

She then turned to the Nightmother on her second question “It should be possible for me to bind it with the force, even pull one away from a group if need be. Assuming they are not resistant to the force.” Taiia then turned to regard Shamira with renewed interest as she conjured a flame circle for binding one of the members of the dead and smiled. “In either case, we have options. Shall we go?” she turned back toward the approach ready to take the lead again and advance, she spun her lightstaff as she switched herself to a defensive posture from the relaxed one she had up until a moment ago, she prepared herself to fend off any attacks it would be her martial ability that would be required here more than the Force. As she walked, she spoke to her familiars. “Pleonexia, watch the west please and call out if you see movement toward us. Eirene the same if you please but watch the east and both of you be careful please. Should you come under attack return to me.” Wordlessly the two convors took flight soaring high above Jar’kai to scout ahead and alert them to danger.

She had expected as much. Being told to leave, that was.

All her life, people had told her the one thing she couldn't do for as capable as she was was fight on a literal battlefield. Since the very beginning of her medical career, as the First Order actively expanded its cloud of influence through the Outer Rim and ever towards the Core, the doctor then known as Aes'ona had avoided conflict like this plague. That was to say, active combat involving troops of two or more factions - one of which being hers - not conflict within the medical community. She fought hard against xenophobia from medical schools and then her own clinic aboard a First Imperial medical station. Then, it evolved into conflict with the naval hierarchy when she was recruited to FIV Malice as a medical adjunct. To heal without prejudice, especially factionality, was her creed, about which she even drafted a proclamation that never saw the finish line or the light of day after that. Fear, maybe, kept her from publication. Ironic, but she continued to dissent in action alone.

The Security Bureau kept track of every infraction. She was aware she had a novel instead of a file in their archives. Still, her rare medical expertise took precedent over her troublesome proclivity, and she was kept save from warfare aboard the Malice. But when the Alliance sought to liberate Dagobah - though she hadn't seen it like that at the time - Aes'ona had itched for the swamps. So she went against the warnings of her would-be family and fellow doctors, trudging on through the dank and the mud with a squad of stormtroopers. She had felt out of place as the only medic officer there then, but in hindsight she had been right at home.

She was abducted from Lorrd to fight, after all. To wear that white armor. What flunked her out of basic, though, was her compassion. No matter what the overlooker made her endure, he could not nullify the trait. It was either in her DNA or taught to her so intently by her birth parents that it was as if it had become protein. She was saved by her self-proclaimed father from the heavy cost of her failure to assimilate, certain death, and made to forget that chapter, but now that she read it again...

...she knew that, even if her trigger finger was not her greatest strength, she belonged on battlefields, for it was there she was needed most. Even the fighting, she didn't mind any more. As long as she was certain in her heart she was on the right side of galactic history, she would be an active participant in all struggles, not just medical.

Nevermore would Prennis let herself be a doctor in title, only knowledge, for her past missteps, but now she embraced the rest of redemption. She didn't know if she could ever balance out that smudge of allegiance, but that was not a reason to stop trying. And even if the rest of the worlds cast her aside for it, she knew there was someone who would always forgive her.

That was why she was here.

Mountbatten found the aforementioned landing zone and took the craft steadily down. :: Intercepting naval chatter above. There is now a planetary blockade in effect courtesy of High Marshal Brayde ( Kiff Brayde Kiff Brayde )," he broadcast as the landing gear extended. :: I do hope miss is happy here, as we are now stranded. ::

"Oh, don't worry so; we're not stranded yet," Prenn corrected from one of the Dawn's medbays as she prepared a field kit with everything she would need to do her work. "Seoul was stranded." She would have to be ready for whatever that might entail, not just because it was her mission, but because she would not be allowed to return to the camp, thus her ship. Even if she could have, what - and whom - was planetside was planetside. Her own suspicions were realized when the disease's identification reached her ears by way of robotic courier. So it was the Bioweapon. She tossed the stack of filtration masks out of her medkit, thankful for the space they vacated, and removed her own. With Blackwing, such personal protection was needless, and if something was needless, Prenn refused to lug it into Xam'Chi.

:: If they turn their turbolasers on us, I will personally incapacitate Mister Brayde's capital ship. ::

Prenn chuckled lightly. :: Come now, Mountbatten. :: The artificial intelligence, while certainly advanced, emphatically could not do that.

With a set of genesis equipment and backups placed in a suitcase labelled BIO HAZARD, a blaster pistol strapped to her outer thigh, and Mountbatten plugged into her gauntlet's system, the nurse disembarked. She crossed the camp, trying to stay out of the way of passing soldiers carrying crates, the wounded, or just their combat arms. Her journey stopped at the largest, open-air tent. "Grand Marshal?" she asked, unsure who was who. Once she recognized the rank was Luna's, she wasted no time with niceties. "What you're doing here is all well and good, but if what's out there is in fact the Virus, you must know quarantine is a fruitless exercise. I don't say this with malcontent, but with some medical authority on the matter. Now, I don't have an alternative to offer you, and certainly trying does no harm, but I only want to warn you... If I were you, I wouldn't devote too many of my dwindling resources to a fool's errand."

More droids. Well, at least they couldn't get infected. Vytal expected BX-72967 to coordinate with T1-517's reinforcements as they came within sight. Seeing how they weren't going to plunge themselves into battle, however, there appeared to be no further reason to delay their advance.
Taiia put forth the possibility of capturing and binding an enemy for study. Quite fortuitous given the circumstances. Shamira too had a way to at least restrict one's movements -- though it may depend on whether an individual of the enemy forces had a strong sense of self-preservation. Even without this being yet-identified Blackwing, irrational behavior stemming from infection had been a confirmed symptom. They very well might try to pass through a ring of fire. "Excellent. Do not try to capture more than one or two, and do not prioritize keeping them restrained over your own safety." The task should give the young Witches something to focus on other than the tearing of flesh. A worthwhile use of their skills and not merely a distraction.
Before they set off, however, John's voice came in over the Hermes link in the Nightmother's armor. "Blackwing Virus." Her black lips turned down at the corners for a moment. "Your flames may prove more useful than you might expect, Shamira." The pale woman turned slightly as her voice rose in volume, "It is the Blackwing Virus. These are not mere zombies. If you are familiar with the practice of Battle Meld or Battle Meditation, expect the enemy to be under a similar effect."
Her green eyes looked forward once more. Slowly Vytal drew in a deep breath and then released it. "A moment, Taiia." Only just. The Nightmother's arms extended out in either direction as she drew upon regional energies once more. "It is time to prepare our own army, and leave our Sisters and Brothers to attack from a distance." Various forms and figures began to appear ahead of the Mandragora; their visages were not as grotesque as they might find their foe in the future, but the spiritual entities held more in common with monsters than human. The Nightmother could do more with spirits than merely converse with them. Dangerous as it was to pull them into the realm of the Living, they knew their time would be short if they sought to escape Vytal's long reach.
"Advance slowly," the Nightmother announced. Slow and steady until the enemy revealed itself.
As they got under way, she toggled the commlink, "Nightmother to John Locke John Locke , we are moving toward Jar'Kai. We will take and hold the Forbidden Palace." A place of power where the Witches and Warlocks would conjure their largest display of power on the battlefield yet.

With each length that had been traversed by the Viceroy and his men, their number started to dwindle, while the enemy's number only seemed to increase exponentially. the screeches and screams which seemed to be without coherence or reason to a normal man's ears were in reality a pattern of speech impossible to comprehend by any that had not yet succumbed to the vile nature of the infection which was spreading virulently, despite the best efforts of the Confederacy up to this point. Even Credius, someone who was so certain of his own victory's certainty the moment he'd set his mind to it, was now doubting the level of certainty in terms of containing this menacing contamination.

With solid progress, turning towards their pursuers at regular intervals to shoot down any of the stragglers having managed to come closer than they'd call a comfortable distance, the remaining Valkan guards and their employer; the Viceroy of the Eriadu system managed to get near the Waru operations base, where before the Viceroy could even shout at the droids and other operatives present, they already started to unload their weaponry's full might upon the pursuers, mowing them down like wheat during harvest season, the screeches of pain and rage filling the air. However, Credius and his men made use of this momentary respite, noticing that the sudden unexpected volley of blasterbolts did seemingly deter the enemy to continue their assault recklessly.

"Intelligence?" The fact that the group of pursuers decided not to engage and actually ran off into another direction, while maintaining a distance out of reach from incoming blasterfire made the viceroy worry slightly, as this was a display of intelligence, basic instinctual behavior was at the very core already a danger, but instinct and the ability to learn meant a semblance of intelligence and that was not something he wanted to see in a situation like this.

When reaching close enough to the operations base itself, Credius ordered his men to take a breather, noticing that a man bearing the commander's uniform of the CDF approached them to a certain distance, flanked by a few B-2 battledroids.
"Sir are you infected?!" Hearing Kirk Tektus scream those words at him made the Viceroy burst out in laughter, as this meant that this commander had yet to hear the worst news yet. "My dear commander, we're all infected, down to every last living and breathing member among us, any who have set foot upon this world is already infected!!" To affirm this, he had the floating golden orb which was his AI KRONOS, glide through the air towards the commander. The orb, when close enough, suddenly scanned Kirk Tektus with a pale blue light, letting out a phew buzzing noises as it was processing the information. "Infection rate one hundred percent... determining most logical solution...planetary cleansing."

Not waiting on a reaction from the commander, Credius motioned his men to follow him towards Commander Tectus, though he was careful to have them maintain their weapons at the ready just in case anything unforeseen would happen. "I'd appreciate it if you would have a few droids grab one of those corpses and bring it to me," Turning to the floating orb, Credius reached out and tapped it near the base, at which point the orb shuddered for a moment before resting silently within the Viceroy's hand. "Can't have you bombarding this location with my own ship, now can we?"

"Commander Tectus, do we have any medical equipment laying around here?"
Credius' lips curled upwards into a smirk, already rolling up one of his sleeves. "I don't have a solution to this problem nor do I have a cure for this virus, but my company has already been busy with a virus suppressant, I'll contact my ship to bring the case of suppressants that we have down here, just to see if I can modify it to suit our needs."

Using KRONOS to establish a connection with minister John Locke John Locke 's communication networks, the viceroy let out a sigh before speaking. "Minister Locke, this is Credius Nargath, Viceroy of the Eriadu system. I'm currently located at the Waru operations base. I need you to authorise a landing of one of my vessels near the base, it pertains a case of viral suppressants. Though I doubt I'll be able to concoct any sort of cure, we may transmit the findings of any samples to you for further study."

Chris was late, very late. An earlier ambush by hostiles on the way to Atrisia had seen them order most of their troop transports and larger ships back to Nothmir, and he was down to only a small infantry force from his Red Giants and a handful of corvettes and light support frigates that had been trying to go unnoticed near orbit, but it was time to go loud. "This is Chris Walker on the NFS Red Scion transmitting to all Directorate forces in-system and on the ground, we're a bit bruised but burning groundside now. IFF and encrypt codes follow." He reclined in his corvette's captain's seat and chimed the ready-up code for the gunnery crews. They were going in under max level biological-protection protocols, that meant positive pressure on all airlocks, sealing protocols on everything from torpedo tubes to solid munition cannons across the task force. "Ready the fighter squadrons for anti-capital strikes and for ground target strikes. Preservers, prepare for in-atmosphere recovery."

Captain Anakwor Farlorn
Caria First-and-Only "Forlorn" Ranger Regiment
Tags: Luna Terrik Luna Terrik Damsy Callat Damsy Callat Tiria Reinhart Tiria Reinhart and all others in Xam'Chi
Location: Xam'Chi, Outskirts of Residential Zone
Objective: Sweep the residential zone and extract civilians.

The rain persisted. Overhead, dark clouds marked the sky like ink on pale skin. Lightning began to flare the sky above. They made rumbling cracking sounds like sticks being snapped over a knee. The lightning lit the bellies of the dark clouds, and with that set off brief white flashes. The lightning crackled as it fell from the heavens and onto the earth, looking remarkably like blood capillaries.

They deployed just outside the landing zone and began to advance towards the residential zone. They marched through the cold swept lowland with tall swaying grass stalks just right next to the rowdy sea that foamed and churned under the great storm. Three thousand and five hundred men moved out in a five-kilometer long front. But even with that many numbers, they could barely be seen, just barely unidentified shapes in the mist. The rain helped.

They followed the main highway into the residential area, the residential area looming ahead. Just before they entered the shop district, the Rangers split into the four battalions along their planned roads. First Battalion, Fennstrum’s, would sweep the slums near the docks. Erach’s second would go through the eastern zone. The other two would go through the rest of the left flank wing, skirting right by the industrial zone. Their plan of advance was through the major roads and concourses. A platoon from both the specialized companies was spread in each battalion, under the direct command of the Majors.

Captain Farlorn went with Fennstrum’s battalion. They stopped by a large ferrocrete drainage canal just before the slums that led out into the sea. They had to battle over the raging banks to cross it. Farlorn stopped to help the others across. He was beginning to feel the cold begin to creep into his bones. The rain. This planet’s damn rain. He would prefer fighting in any other sort of war than rain. They set up a forward post under an overhanging bridge.

The scouts vanished forward of the advance, but they came back fifteen minutes, seeming to materialize out of the mist. Fennstrum and Farlorn gathered with the scouts. Hark didn’t even seem fazed by the terrible weather. Water was dripping off the bill of her grey forage cap. “Sirs, the way ahead is fairly clear. At least for three hundred meters, sea fog is killing visibility down to a hundred meters.”

“Fairly clear?” Fennstrum raised an eyebrow.

“Hard to say. Something here.”

“A friendly something?” Farlorn asked as he fidgeted.

“Couldn’t tell. We didn’t get close, per orders. About a dozen figures shrouded by fog in the open. And that was the strange part. In this weather? Just standing around in the open. Not even moving. Didn’t even think they were shivering. Me and the boys thought they were actual statues. The stone types. Then as we made our way back, Gavin back there kicked a brick. Smallest sound, I was next to him and I barely heard it. But the statues did, and they moved. Real strangely as well, jerking and limping. Like they were puppets on strings, and attached to a real bad puppeteer. Outran and lost them in this mist.”

“Alright, here’s the plan. We’ll move into the dockyards and sweep east towards these apartment towers, those are the worker habs, see if there’s anybody there. We see anyone acting like what Hark just described, squad leaders, have the authorization to put them down. That’s one of the possible signs of infection.

“And I want gas hoods on from now-one.” A few of the men nearby groaned loudly. Nobody liked the hoods: long treated white hoods with long elephantine rubber hoods. “No matter what, do not take them off. If any of the men get compromised, seal it and put them to quarantine. Disarm them and have a gun to their head at all times. We’ll confirm if they’re truly infected back at the FOB. Go it?’

All the squad leaders nodded.

“Let’s do this, Rangers lead the way.”

Slowly and cautiously, the Rangers entered the city. The streets were utterly empty. Despite this having been one of the most lively and chaotic areas of the city, bustling, and throbbing with life at every hour, no-one was out here. The colorful night parties, the coveted gambling dens, the overly-crowded bars, the street full of people from all over the galaxy, strange and unique species.

There wasn’t any other sound than rain. The noise of the rain was all around, the sounds of dripping and pittering. Drainage pipes throbbed and spewed out waves upon waves of dirty fluid.

First Battalion entered the slums. Urban sprawl had grown out of control in recent years. The terrible wars that had wracked these planets over the years had driven many into poverty. This being one of the last decent cities on this forsaken planet, many refugees had traveled here in hopes of finding a better life. They had been denied that. Like some great carnivorous plant, it drew them in with the sweet scent of wealth and safety, before closing its jaws around them. The streets were small, claustrophobic, and littered with scattered debris: broken bottles, discarded trash, and waste that had simply been poured out the windows. The gas hoods compounded the feeling that they were being boxed in. They hated the loss of visibility, the claustrophobia of the thick-lensed gas hoods, the shortness of breath that the tight rubber mouthpiece provoked.

Sliding door grills chattered and shook loudly in the terrible rain. Neon lights advertising pleasure and gambling dens sizzled as rain hit them. Vermin ran as the soldiers advanced forward. As planned, Ranger platoons split off from the main advance and swept the habs all around them.

Farlorn’s and Fennstrum’s Anarch Command Company moved into a wide run-down hab apartment complex. They thoroughly searched the first floor, knocking on all the doors and breaching them afterward. Not a single time did anyone answer the call or was found in their filthy homes.

Farlorn was at the front with his men. He had his BAW-55 in his hand as he organized the search personally. It was just his style. He often battled on the front, making war with his men side by side. He led by example, never sending his men to do anything that they didn’t expect that he would himself. Of course, he expected his men to do the same as well. He would never let anyone shrink from their expected duty. If they did, he would find them wanting and find them.

He called forward Bellary, his comms-operator. “Get me a connection with the Majors.”

“Mic, sir?” Bellary said after turning a few dials on the heavy-duty comms-set.

“No, plug me in.” He was overheating in the hood now, and sweat was dribbling down his spine. Bellary wound a small cable from his comms-set and pushed the jack into a socket on the side of Farlorns's gas hood. Farlorn’s personal comms-set now had the massive added power of the set.

“One, three?” The reception was crackly and spotty. He turned to Bellary who adjusted the set, the signal became clearer but something was in the background.

“It’s the rain and the buildings all around, interfering with the signal. Not too bad.” He explained. The Captain nodded.

“One, three, do you receive me?”

“Three, one, got you clear.”

“Erach, you’re clear on this end as well. Give me a sit-rep of what’s going on.”

“We’ve found about a hundred civvies hiding out in the local post office. Several are armed and were jumpy, sir.”

“Losses?” He said, anticipating the worst.

“None, we were lucky, sir. Chitiest shot I’ve ever seen. Trooper Urberin returned fire, though, sir, killed the shooter. We’re sending them to the FOB where the High Marshall’s at, sir.”

“Good job, three. Continue sweep as expected.” Farlorn sighed slightly. It could have been worse. “One, four?”

“Three,” Thorin responded.

“Got any good news for your Captain?”

“Plenty. Sweeping got us about seventy so far. Got Brown Company to escort them back. Pathfinders say they’ve found several civilian strongpoints they set up in. Maybe about fifty to a dozen in each. We’re moving to them right now.”

“Your position?”

“Uh, we’re at second and seventh Jaunty street.”

“Got you on the map. Be careful, four, don’t antagonize the strongpoints. I got reports that some of the people here are real jumpy. Run in with infected?”

“No, sir.”

“Good. Keep your eyes open.” Final Battalion on the list. “One, five.”

“Go, ahead, Captain.”

“Your progress?”

“Nothing much. Only found about ten so far and advance is slow. It looks like some fire burned through the area recently. Pathfinders think it all started from a bonfire that got out of control. There are lots of bodies here. Thousands so far. Many with blaster wounds. Some were determined to be bite wounds. It’s hard to tell, fires reduced basically everything to ash here. No, emergency services responded at all.”

“No infected?”

“Not a single one.”

“Be careful, five. ROE is free in your area. Anything posses a threat, you shoot it. Remember the symptoms - jerky movements and heavy flesh necrosis - and shoot anyone on sight that exhibits those signs.”

Fennstrum walked up to the Captain.

“Anything?” Farlorn asked.

“Not a single living soul. Companies Anarch to Echo has found nothing. Traces of some life, like chit and piss, but nothing. It’s like they all left and never came back. Echo’s first squad did, however, report that they’ve found a body. Corpsman on site determined it was an infected corpse that got put down by a blaster bolt. I had them burn the body and the flat it was in with a flamethrower. Don’t worry. Didn’t get out of control. Nekson was on the case.”

“Good job. Other Battalions have reported contact with civvies…”

“But not us. Got a bad feeling about this, sir.”

“Alright, Bellary, connect me to the Grand Marshal's office. Use my command code. Level Vermillion authorization.”

“I’ve got it, sir. Also, I’ve gotten a message from Minister Locke, something important. On all Confederate waves.”

“I’ll listen to it when I finish this. Start. Update, Grand Marshall. My Battalions have happened upon about two hundred civilians currently. We are escorting some to the FOB to be analyzed if they are infected. No losses on my side so far but one of my men shot a jumpy survivor, truly unfortunate. We’ve also come across something real strange-”

Something cut him off. He heard a sound, muffled deeply through his hood, like a bundle of sticks being broken, slowly, steadily.

Not sticks; blaster-shots.

“Kriff, contact.”

Carbine out, Captain Reinhart led the center column down Vhedric avenue of Kan Lwai Fong. Commander Dallas had Abalon street on her left, and Commander Cruz had Belephon street on her right; each of those units carefully laying down sensors as they moved to monitor for enemy sweeping in from the rear and cutting off their return.

"Drop 'em." A cacophony of blaster fire filled the air. A wave of bolts sliced through and cut down what amounted to rabble in the eyes of a Commando. Their movements were surprisingly well coordinated -- spaced out, directed, perhaps even focused. If this were a disease it was the damnedest one. Who heard of a disease that made people instant soldiers capable of clear thought and tactics of someone that'd seen battle enough to not be cowering behind cover?

A thought from afar crept into Tiria's awareness then. Blackwing? Another extension had been keeping tabs on goings on elsewhere. A report came in about 'Blackwing' with distance being of paramount importance. Others were tasked with delving into this virus' history if the Confederacy had dealt with it before as John claimed. The trickle of information was not ideal, but at least the parameters of engagement were taking shape.

"Push through," she ordered her column as they continued to move down the avenue undaunted by those that poured out of the adjacent buildings. With her own troops in order, Tiria adjusted the link to just the other two commanders, "Dallas, Cruz, infection caused by Blackwing virus. Consider infected hostile and extremely dangerous. Neutralize at a distance." They could look up what Blackwing was later. Tiria gave them the long and short of what they needed to get through the mission.

When their immediate area was clear of ravenous beings, Tiria tuned her comms to another frequency. "Base, Alpha Actual. Infected engaged. Advance continues. Over." Nothing new to share, only to confirm the city wasn't mercifully empty or filled with the laughter of children. It was just as they'd come prepared to handle.

A few minutes later, Cruz reported in, "Captain, one klick ahead there appears to be... a woman? carving her way through the infected. Alone." A sighting of one Alessandra Creed Alessandra Creed . Not the first sign of uninfected life they'd found, but certainly the most violent.

"Acknowledged. Continue monitoring and advancing. If you can reach her," before she succumbed the virus herself, "have her join me. Otherwise, we press on." There wasn't time to go after a single person. Obviously someone that could defend themselves, which put them on a far better plane of survival than most people in the city -- and the Dauntless had been tasked with ensuring the ill-equipped and unprepared's survival. They wouldn't balk at able-bodied allies, however.

The Captain's helmet tilted back to look ahead. It wouldn't be much longer now. In and out. All Tiria had to worry about was keeping everyone under her command alive; the fate of the world was not her's alone to decide.

Cockiness was out of Kas’s voice, the situation must be grimmer than bastion. Was he the only one with a rebreather in his suit filtering the air? How many the frell had been caught up in this? “Don’t mean to rush you but I agree with that guy.” The Monster The Monster , “this thing, its everywhere.” He said from on high, finally settling into how bad this situation was. Not just a fight he could win. Hoping that would move Eira Talon and Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner to find shelter. This street sure wasn't safe or defendable.

Above it looked clear, but below...

“Chakaar,” the Mando shouted, closely translated meaning corpse robber. The hands or claws rose first out of the earth like something out of a bad holovid, but the heads and teeth soon followed showed it to be very real. Shooting a short distance to the side of Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner and taking the first as it rose from the earth. The threat was clear, but it wasn’t the only one coming up. The Mandalorian landed with a bump to their side.

“Fulcrum to Central. Yeah. About this containment. They are digging down. We got problems under the earth.”

Weapon again raised as he scanned about... You could hear them now, growling and coming “Suggest being elsewhere...”

And then they came in droves, the earth breaking behind them, any mud, patch of grass, or garden a danger. Hands clasping and reaching up. So many came he ran dry firing that fusion rifle, its automatic rate impressive but the ammo didn’t last forever. A grenade was tossed into the largest hole forming, muffling the explosion that came. Cocking the weapon to drop the power cell to the ground, Kas looked for a replacement, but with all the bodies coming up he didn’t have time to reload before a zombie had literally grabbed the rifle from his hands bursting up beside the Mandalorian.

“AND I SUGGEST FAST” Kas said kicking himself free and turning to the others.

Kirk froze as the viceroy's AI scanned him revealing that he was infected, ever since he got here too. Unfortunately he didn't have enough time to process it but the shock on his face was pretty obvious but they had more pressing matters to worry about. Eventually the blasters stopped firing as the horde was deterred and Kirk spoke at normal volume. "We have a stock of medical supplies in the quarantine center, we should have what you need."

Kirk lead Credius into the base while the commander droid walked up to Kirk "Sir. We've deterred the assault and seems the infected aren't coming."

"Good, get some infected bodies and bring them to the examination room in quarantine and have them prepped. Viceroy's orders."

"Roger roger."

Kirk then turned to Credius Credius asking him to follow. "Sir if you follow me we have a research team looking into the virus in the quarantine center."

The quarantine center was isolated from the base and set up as a concourse with buildings, surrounding a plaza and it was walled off with auto turrets facing into the concourse and can be authorized to shoot anyone inside with proper authorization. "On the far side we have the refugee bloc. One building is for housing those who haven't shown any clear symptoms while those who have are in the adjacent building being treated and housed. But we have countermeasures in case we have any refugees with clear signs of infection."

He then took him to the opposite side of the refugee bloc where the clinic and research center was. It held and housed all the medical staff. "Our research center houses all our supplies and tech for treating our infected. At least those with present signs. if you come with me we'll find you what me need." Kirk said as he lead the viceroy into the storage center which stored both hardware and medicine, the storage officer who was a b1 commander droid who stood to attention once Kirk and the viceroy showed up. "At ease lieutenant."

"Our medical supplies are categorized in the lieutenant's terminal and we have vials of medicine and antibiotics in the freezer to your left. Anything you need I'm sure we'll have for you sir."

Sergei had already turned to start moving by the time the lady spoke up, asking about Srina Talon Srina Talon . He paused only for a moment as he cursed the lack of discipline of civilians in his head, and responded the only way he knew how. Quite directly.

"If she's the Exarch or one of their charges she's literally 2 klicks that way," he pointed towards the way they were going "And she's in a crashed gunship, so if you want to live long enough to see them, get behind me-"

A screech in front of them interrupted Sergei speaking, but it wouldn't last long as the other operative gunned down the infected and Sergei didn't waste any more time.

"WE HAVE TO MOVE NOW! Stay behind me! Connor cover the right flank we have to punch through, no time for fancy or quiet, GO LOUD!" He was direct with his orders, displaying his experience and only raising his voice so that the others could hear him.

He then raised his weapon and began moving at what someone could call a slow jog, or very aggressive walk. They'd wasted too much time in their position and it showed as the infected were coming from all sides. Sergei's weapon was a now a very loud staccato of pops as he fired repeatedly on semi auto into any that dared show their faces up front. And when a group would come at them, Sergei would simply fire one of the microgrenades into the center of them, the HE load vaporizing the infected before they had a chance to engage. And while one would consider the way he moved very deliberate and clunky there was a practiced precision to his moves, a minimal waste of movement and momentum lost between shots as now speed was the only concern. His mag changes for his primary were fluid and simple, just pressing the mag release with his finger, raising the weapon, and slamming a fresh magazine home, all without breaking stride or slowing down. And the two operatives moved as one, staggering their fire, picking up rates of fire as the other reloaded making it seem like a steady stream of Charric rounds were coming from the group. Sergei left the rear guard and left flank to their new compatriots but he knew that he couldn't slow down for them. Because right now, if they moved any slower, they'd be overrun and utterly annihilated. And then as if on cue, a single GS-77 came screaming overhead raining laser fire both behind the small group and in front of them providing temporary, but much needed relief. Sergei took the chance and seized the moment.

"RUN! CONNOR MAKE SURE NO ONE FALLS BEHIND!"

The other operative would wait for the last two to pass him, before taking off in a sprint as Sergei ran like his and the rest of their lives depended on it. Because it honestly did. They had no more time, they just had to move and hope that another opening would present itself to get out of the pinch they were in.

Red nodded. "Yes ma'am. I'll go and check it out." He affirmed, then closed the link. He imputed the coordinates for the mountain into the computer. "Head to these coordinates." He told the pilot.

"Copy that." The pilot replied. Then, their course changed, heading for the mountain resort.

The ground, far beneath them, slowly inched by from this height. Red watched. Red had never had to deal with a virus of this kind, but back in the experimental labs they learned of these sort of things. They had to be prepared for anything, and this was a pretty big deal. Even for Red, it seemed pretty excessive, and mostly unnecessary. Now, at least, he was glad that he had that training and the information taught to them about it.

Red noticed the mountain resort on the ship's scopes. It was fairly nice. Must have been a good place to visit when there wasn't a deadly virus. Now, it was seemingly abandoned, and now had a run-down look to it. "Take us in closer for a better view." Red told the pilot. The pilot affirmed his reply, and they moved in closer. They circled the resort. Red looked at it. It seemed fairly lifeless from the outside, but there was some evidence of recent passage from life forms. Some items were tipped over, and trash was lying around. There were small groups of people in their current view, huddling around fires and such.

"Activating bio-scans." Red reported as he pressed a series of buttons. The ship commenced a bio-scan of the entire resort. Red watched the progress of the bio scan.

After a few minutes, the bio-scan finished. There were sentient life-forms both inside and outside the resort. If they were infected or not, Red didn't know, as the bio-scans didn't show that, but there were people down there, nonetheless.

Red patched back into General Terrik's comm. "General, we've made visual contact with the resort, and we've run a bio-scan. There are civilians in and around the resort. If they are infected or not, we can not tell, as we cannot get close enough to find out if they are or not, and our bio-scanners aren't advanced enough to scan for the virus. But yes, we have managed to locate civilians in the resort." Red reported to the General.

Ambiance: Oh Snap, shit getting real

The unity that came with love was something the two seemed to understand yet in this they risked so much more. The VIPs that had been accompanied them huddled together in the ship, all the while the two soldiers so mercilessly maimed by Slaad began to rise. Their corpses shambling towards them. Perhaps the two cared more for each other than the VIPs, it wasn’t surprising. In fact, it was almost expected. Everything had a cost, even love came with a heavy cost. It came with the want to protect the other. The overwhelming sensation of terror that one would possibly lose them. It was magnificent. As the streetlights above illuminated the couple, Slaad was almost reminded of a play. The two before him the couple born apart yet found each other in the darkness.

Transfixed he almost did not move as the rubble was flung in his direction. In fact, the creature didn’t waste much energy at all on the effort of dodging. Both hands placed upon the hilt, the crimson blade streaked upwards through the air slicing the largest of the duracrete slabs in half. Both ends continuing past on either side. The bars of rebar and smaller bits did not however. They tore through the cloak and robes he wore beneath. Holes opened up in Slaad’s body, gaping holes. Maggots fell free of the wounds, black ichor followed, pooling on the ground at Slaad’s feet.

A rebar rod pierced the right portion of the epicanthix’s face. The rod left a hole centimeters thick, and round, if one looked inside they could see clear through to the other side. Mouth hanging open in a slight hiss, Slaad did not stop. They thought the creature simpleminded, they did not know that he once walked as they did. That he had once been a Sith, one with the dark. He had given his all to it.

Right hand releasing the hilt of his saber he brought it down and to his left intersecting the lightning released by the smaller Epicanthix. The lightning coiled around the blade, absorbed to it like a lightning rod. The magnetic field of it lightning in a brilliant display. All the while Slaad’s footwork brought him to the outside of the Sith's right arm reaching out to wrap around the outstretched forearm that spat lightning. Forcing his massive weight, strength, and momentum into the lock Slaad would put the pressure directly on Maliphant’s elbow to shatter it and disable the limb. The lightsaber continued its way through the air, the tip of the blade coming around to point at the Echani.

The lightning that had once clung to the beam of plasma was shunted free, the bolts cascading towards Srina Talon Srina Talon . Her lovers attack turned against her, when once before he had sought to protect her it would be him who possibly wounded her.

In the streets the howls of the undead grew louder, the unearthly shriek Slaad having released earlier alerting them. Summoning a large portion of them to the area. The two would not escape Slaad so long as he had a say in it. Dozens upon dozens of undead climbed through each other in the streets approaching the crash site impeeding those who would seek to rescue Slaad’s opponents.

Post: #4

Left side of the board is open, providing a potential failure point. Must find a way to close it up. Can’t afford to leave it unattended.

The news of the crashed exarch ship and the unknown squad heading to rescue her had thrown a new wrench into the plans of the redheaded general. It would’ve been much simpler had this not occurred, leaving her to just focus on containing this virus and rescuing any civilians that managed to get themselves in harms way. Or had been unlucky enough to have people around them turned. But now there was a new element that took her mind off the bigger picture as a whole. If the Confederacy was to lose this Exarch, whom Luna had no idea if she was even alive at this point, then whatever happened to this planet would, admittedly, pale in comparison to how the Confederacy would have to respond. And with her resources spread so thin, she was having to trust the woman’s safety into the hands of a single squad and command officer. Luna had run out of pieces, and a line straight into the heart of her side of the board had been opened up.

That was, of course, until a taller man came running up to her tent, asking for orders to be placed somewhere. A new piece, perhaps? She hadn’t seen nor dealt with this man before, so his trustworthiness was in question. While they had never met in person, Luna had heard the rumors of this man, whether or not he was truly on the Confederacy’s side. As much as she wanted to send him with Q’vares going after the exarch, adding another wildcard to that equation would go against her beliefs. So sending him somewhere else, away from the epicenter of the city would be much more useful of his talents. “There’s a trading post near the harbor.” She started as she looked up to meet his eyes. “Large, very large. One of the biggest on this planet. I need you to go scout it out, get any civvies that are left alive out of there. I’ll be sending you in with lambda squad. Shouldn’t take you more than a few minutes sprint to get there.” Her eyes focused back down onto the holotable, assuming the man would take it as a dismissal after he had gotten his orders. “Lambda will meet you at the edge of the marketplace. Go.”

A new piece, a Monnok, added to the board. Not in the place she needed, but would provide adequate support for the other pieces already in motion.

With this man’s orders given, Luna’s focus could be back on the pieces she had already moved into certain areas. Reaching up to her helmet, she turned on her comm and opened it to all squads currently in route to their objectives. ( Damsy Callat Damsy Callat | Tiria Reinhart Tiria Reinhart | Tobias Wrynn | Subject 73 Red Subject 73 Red | Anakwor Farlorn Anakwor Farlorn | @Dauntless Master Sergeants) “This is Dauntless command to all units in the field. Requesting an update on the progress you have made toward completion. An update on the spread of the infection would also be beneficial, if you have gathered sufficient data.” Her finger lowered as she began to await the answers from all the groups. If they were in the position, it should only take a few moments. Luna could only hope that that logic was followed.

POV: Tien Ulinesque

| Alessandra Creed Alessandra Creed |

Tien had found delta squad quickly enough, and they had headed out into the city as soon as everyone was Oscar mike. This was a good squad, one that didn’t get utilized enough in his opinion. Many of the squads, really, in the commandos were overshadowed by the Alpha and Omega squads. There was still good men at every level, which he was sure Luna knew. Bu everyone had preferences. Tien’s was a little less ridged than most. He preferred anyone that could make sure he wasn’t shot in that back. Pass that? You were good to go in his book.

Delta did so with flying colors, and their level of professionalism impressed the massive Keshiri as they made their way down the quiet streets of the capital. No extra chatter, just calm, cool movements. It wasn’t far from the marketplace that they began running into the bodies of the dead, obviously having followed the path that Alpha and Omega squads had cleared through. They had done good work, as Tien and the squad found no resistance. It wasn’t until they heard blaster fire that their guards went up fully. But the sound of something else, something different than the firing of blasters caught his attention.

Tien rounded the corner to find a brunette woman cutting her way through one of the undead. She hadn’t seen him yet, so he did his best to call out in a calm, cool manner that wouldn’t startle her too bad. “Ma’am..” He started, slowly sliding his blaster to the side and placing his palms up. “I have to assume you are minister Malvern. My commander, Luna Terrik of the Dauntless, has requested you come with us back to the FOB.” His eyes, hidden behind his helmet, never left the woman as he slowly took a few steps forward. The sounds of clattering armor boots against the cobblestone of the street caught his attention as a pair of men came into view.

He recognized their armor markings of ones under Alpha squad’s command, Tiria Reinhart Tiria Reinhart . Giving them a nod, one of his hands made a motion back in the direction they. “We’re taking care of this, boys. Focus back on your objective.” After that momentary diversion of attention, it was quickly swiveled back to the minister, whom he began to address once again. “Please, ma’am. We can figure out everything once we’re back to the base.” One of his hands extended forward, an inviting motion. The minister didn’t look sick, but his orders were to get her back, and that was what he planned on doing, even in the reason why had changed lightly.

| @Slade | Eira Talon | Srina Talon Srina Talon | Gerwald Lechner Gerwald Lechner | The Monster The Monster | Darth Empyrean Darth Empyrean | Grrwunhoooll Agaburry Grrwunhoooll Agaburry |

Q’aria hated leg work.

It wasn’t as though she wasn’t trained for this. Quite the contrary, in fact. Most of the boarding and quick hitter operations were planned by her. She knew her mind was one of the reasons why Luna prized her talents to the degree she did. Which is also why the commander typically held her out of front line combat, something that Q’aria didn’t mind all that much. Scouting operations were much more her style, where she could be alone with her thoughts for days, only having to count on herself to get the job done.

If Luna was asking her to go on some sort of rescue mission, the general must really be desperate for legs. And in that case, there was little in this galaxy that would keep the Zabrak from at least achieving her objective, much less flawlessly without casualties. Theta squad, advancing down the cobblestone streets behind her, was well equipped enough that she didn’t need to babysit them, nor minded their chats on comms as they made their way down the street.

Finding this squad that had been described to her by the general didn’t exactly take that long. When you had a ship flying dangerously close to the city, firing off rounds into a small hoard of those things, one typically found their way to you pretty quickly. The group, or what was left of them, passed by the commando squad that had just come up through a side street. Q’aria was quick to hold up a fist, halting hers and Theta’s progress to silently allow the hoard to pass by. Once done so, she gave a quick, “Check your fire. Don’t hit the runners,” before swinging her way out of the corner, lighting up the hoard from behind. The squad of twelve commandos were quick to join her, finding what cover they could on the street as the surprise attack began in earnest, blaster fire and pyro grenades being launched into the crowd of braindead things.

As Luna’s comm came through, Q’aria took the opportunity to slip into a side alley. “Engaged a group of hostiles that were chasing the target squad. Will update soon enough, general.” This horde wouldn’t last long against this group of commandos. Finding their way to the exarch after that, however, would be a much different story.

Jepei1u.png

All pieces of the board are engaged. Pushes being made. Things are starting to turn.

She was impressed by the progress of the squads so far. The overwatch, omega squad, and Tien had failed to report back at that moment, but for those that had, it seemed as though things were progressing toward completion. If that was the case, this city might be quarantined faster than she thought. And if that was the way the planet was progressing, there was a good chance they could confine this thing to this city alone. Only the Rangers truly gave her pause for worry at this point. Farlorn had sounded hopeful after finding quite a number of civvies before getting cut off. More than likely something having to do with the weather, however.

The only squad that really needed her attention was Sergeant Red’s, whom she quickly commed after hearing his report. “Excellent work so far. Find a place to put down, begin sweeping the area. Stay safe, and get as many civvies back as you can. If it becomes a situation where your squad cannot hold the area, pull out. I’d rather lose that mountaintop than you. Terrik, out.” He’d get the job done, she thought. There was rarely a time that he didn’t. All she could hope for was that he didn’t do something reckless and get himself or his squad infected.

Just get the game under control. Worry about everything else after that.

Luna was going to begin to write a report up on the scouting reports coming in from the major city centers when a blonde woman practically barged into her tent, calling out her rank. Her head turned form the holopad, not recognizing the face, but recognizing whom it was. The doctor from the comms, Prennis Keeoli Prennis Keeoli . She didn’t even have the time to explain her orders when the woman launched into her warning of the fruitlessness of her actions, one that drew a grim look from her underneath her helmet.

“I know this virus. Perhaps not as well as you do, but well enough. I know quariteening the city might end up being..fruitless.” A pause, one that allowed her look over the map of the towering spires of the capital, chewing on her inner cheek as she did so. “That’s not what I have my squads out there alone, for. They’re finding me any survivors and bringing them back here. If, then, there is not a cure for this thing, or it looks like things will…turn, I’m prepared to do what’s necessary to end the virus here.” Resorting to cleansing a city was not what she wanted to do. It would damage relations between the Confederacy and this planet for years, maybe decades to come. But the virus couldn’t be allowed to spread any further.

She looked up for a moment and nodded toward the squad led by Tsian Denira Tsian Denira . “they are offering to protect you, if you wish, to go to the financial district. From my reports, the resistance should be calmer there, allowing you to do any research you need in relative safety.” Her helmet turned toward the doctor in that moment, straightening her back to her full height. A move to show off her seriousness of the situation. “but when I say it’s time to leave, it’s time to go. Understand?”

Maybe the woman did. Maybe the woman would follow orders. Maybe she would succumb to the virus. In any case, she was just one more piece the game that was this battle.

Sometimes pieces had to be put in compromising positions, so that the greater game could be won.

Slaad lifted his lightsaber to catch Maliphant’s lightning, and sent it careening back at Srina; which was to be expected, all things considered. Maliphant swore at himself for the mistake, but his focus would be redoubled as the giant of a zombie rushed forward and gripped at his wrist. The move was obvious, though poorly executed as the beast’s blade went in the opposite direction, and no matter the weight he hoped it lean into the elbow would make it shatter -
As it never reached this elbow to begin with. A second blade, invisible in its nature, all consuming in its hunger, broke free from a clip on Maliphant’s waist from a yet potent will of the Force and began dragging the Force into it like a singularity that knew nothing but gluttony. It in itself would stutter Slaad’s control on the Force, even if it wouldn’t outright cancel it - and the ghost blade would spin - moving to rip through blackened flesh just past the shoulder, and before the bicep; while the lightsaber in Maliphant’s yet untaken arm would do something far more simple.
It’d tear through the air with speed - embattled by the ever so slight shift of his feet to not only cancel the attempt to snap the arm, but embolden his free arm to skillful elegance. It came for the back of Slaad, coming for his necrotic neck would he still not move from the hold he attempted to maintain on Maliphant, and for his clavicle were he to be sent back from the bisection of his arm.
Lightsabers were already well established as one of the greatest ways to cut down those infected with Blackwing; and a two lightsabered strike only enhanced it. Maliphant had already understood Slaad’s quick introduction of Tutaminis only a moment before in the scream, and had worked around the garish display of a delicately utilized Force Power. While focused, Slaad may have been able to stop one of Maliphant’s blade from harming him - but two, with the additional distraction of the Force Drain that instantly began to cripple the Force around the two in a small area, was enough to break even a Master’s control of the ability.
Yet, Maliphant could feel the ship’s atmosphere change in the distance. His shields were faltering with his ever expanding use of the Force to harm this abomination - creating a dangerous situation for the two of them, and their inevitable mission. Through the Force, many voices overlapped as Maliphant’s many emotions flooded to Srina -
The ship. The pilots are infected. Kill the pilots.”

The gates area, the city, and even the whole planet smelled and felt of death. This was no place for a witch. Well, maybe it was, but not this kind of death. Not the kind of death that had been corrupted from the inside out. Death was supposed to be a peaceful end, or the new beginning of life, but for life to be used in this way, this horrible, unnatural way, was something that disgusted the young witch. It was a thing to burn out, and that’s exactly what she planned on doing, even if she had to go the pace that the Nightmother dictated.

This did not mean being passive as they made their way through the streets, however. To the left of the nightmother, Shamira would send out firey balls of flame toward the enemy every so often, when one dared make their way from one of the shadowy corridors that penetrated against the lit main street. She did not know if it fully killed them, but the flame consuming the flesh of their faces, possibly down to the brain that controlled the dead and rotting body, was enough to drop them for a few moments, however. Which was plenty of time to allow the group of three to pass by them. She wouldn’t even pay mind if they began to move again. They moved slow enough, so pausing their movements for a few seconds made finishing them off unnecessary.

Her fireballs only had to be used sparingly, much to Shamira’s surprise. This place was supposed to be massive, so where were all the people? Were they hiding from these zombies? Hadn’t they said that this city was almost completely overrun? There would’ve had to been at least a few hundred zombies nearby at this point, but she had only seen a few so far. Where in the world were they hiding?

These were questions that fired throughout her mind, but one began to come to forefront of her thought. That one was the one she turned to the nightmother, after frying another zombie, to ask. “Where, exactly, are we going nightmother? Is there a center that all the forces at this city are meeting up at?” Maybe Shamira had missed their destination before, but it seemed as thought they were idolly wandering the streets at this point. The Nightmother surely had a destination in mind, but to this point in their journey, the redhead couldn’t figure out what it was just yet.

Eira wanted to find Srina. It seemed everyone wanted to find the Exarch and those she had been accompanying. Gerwald was more focused on Eira's safety and the hoard of zombies coming up from the ground. A shot rang out and killed a zombie coming his way. That still did not stop others from coming out of the ground as well. This reminded Gerwald of the mass of bugs the CIS had to take out, but zombies instead. The only question Gerwald had was where were they coming from, and why were there so many of them?
More troops poured onto the scene. Gerwald recognized them as Dauntless. Were he in human form, Gerwald could have coordinated the effort as the ranking Knights Obsidian. Instead he was a wolf who could do nothing. If Gerwald bit a zombie he would get infected. If Gerwald got bit he would get infected. Gerwald was pretty sure that there were other ways to get infected as well. It didn't really matter. The Zombies did not stop coming.
He looked up at Eira with a look that said they needed to get out of there. If she would just get on his back on least then Gerwald could run her to safety. Gerwald barked at her.
The ground began to swell. Even with the other troops coming in to wipe out the rest of the hoard. Something else was coming, and based on the size of the tremors, Gerwald knew this was something big. A swell of dirt turned into a massive hill. A massive arm came out of the ground followed by another. What came out of the ground looked like a sith spawn experiment that went wrong. It was massive, and it was infected. Gerwald tugged at Eira. It was time to get her out of there while the other troops dealt with the big boss man.

Objective: End all. Absorb it all.

Who needed comm systems when screams were just as good. The city of Jar'kai was booming with echolocation and sonic frequencies. The d
eads own little language. With half the army climbing into vehicles and the other half digging into the depths of the planet, everything became back ground noise for the lone giant that stood on arid dust planes. A once beautiful land; now gone. A slight shine reflected off his right hand in the form of a
golden gauntlet. A sith artifact of old. Clasping tight a fist the lumbering giant fell into reflective pause. Gathering his strength, feeding off the darkside of the planet, the gauntlet and all the chaos that planet had fallen into. Consume Essence. A terrible aura wrapped itself tight around his core and at this core a muffled laugh echoed on the currents of a false darkside. It was Blackwing. The living disease itself.

Kezeroths new source of salvation, power and freedom. Oh how it hungered and oh how he resisted its ravenous commands...so far. Lightning began to manifest around him in crackling sparks. Minor interference but still visible. Pale dead red eyes searched the wall once, twice and then stopped. They were coming. He could see them gathering. Not with his decaying sight but from within and there was nothing he could do to stop them once they got in.

Not without a fight.

" Its Ok." he said under his breath maintaining his focus over the sheer amount of power he was collecting to himself. It was then he realized he was not alone. Someone or something had touched his mind somehow. She had touched his mind. How did he know its gender so soon? She stood in front of him in a form that he could not easily understand.

Oh what beauty. A star in the void of Jar'Kai.

" Madness?' A soft smile shaped his maw. Shaking his head at the apparition before him he disagreed. " It is hard to see past a blackhole. " As of yet Kezeroth treated this ghostly woman as a welcomed guest. Though his awareness warranted the attention of several patrolling undead nearby. A marvel. His awareness was also their own despite the distance. " I do not infect seeking to destroy worlds as the Sith do and nor do i seek to idly stand by to watch worlds suffer. Blackwing has offered us all an escape from this all. No more pain, suffering and negativity. Just existence and freedom." He explained gorging himself on more darkside power. He saw the woman not as a threat but oddly rather as welcome company. And while most of the Undead in the area could not feel as he did there was a underlying source of positivity within them all. It felt...wrong.

As if in the end none of it mattered. As if he had little left.

" Where is the madness in that, my child?" he retorted.

By this time the Walkers and tanks had begun there assault from the far back line of Jar'kai. Their aim was horrid at first. complete misses that encompassed the incoming droids and new arrivals near the Great walls breach( BX-72967-RAZOR BX-72967-RAZOR & Vytal Noctura Vytal Noctura ). But surely enough the laser cannon fire began to sharpen. Closer and closer to enemy ranks in till it was almost deadly. From below the dead continued to dig in mass, hidden and out of sight by normal means.

With the commander showing the expected intelligence of a man with their position, Credius was all to relieved that Kirk Tektus seemed to be far more levelheaded than many other subjects of the Confederacy. However, when being lead to the medical wing of the camp, the iceroy suddenly stopped following the commander when it was alluded to that there were those who had already been determined to be infected being confined so close by in quarantine. "Commander, Those who have progressed symptoms... I hope for our sake that their quarantine is a military and not a basic medical quarantine, a few plastic sheets and some airfilters won't be of any use when they 'turn'."

The was no hidden meaning in the viceroy's words, if the Commander would verify it to be a medically qualified, but not a military qualified quarantine, the only logical and merciful option would b to send in his guards and end the lives of those poor souls before they'd be in the clutches of the madness the infection seemed to wrought upon those that had gone too far into the stages of the infection's spreading influence. For a moment, Credius wondered though, if this was his mind resisting the idea of becoming a mindless savage like those he had seen earlier or simply some sort of wild, mad self preservation within himself. Nodding his head to clear his mind, he turned to the commander once again. "Have them bring those bodies here... remove all the staff from this place at once, they will only interfere," Wondering how long it would take for the Minister of Science to allow for the bloackade to be lifted and to have his men aboard the Valedictorian send the necessary equipment, the viceroy watched as a few bodies were dragged in and displayed upon metal slabs for him to work on. Grabbing a coat, some gloves and a syringe, he started working diligently, piercing through the gelatinous mucus covering the open arms of one of the bodies, drawing out the thick, coagulating blood from within the corpse's veins. "Effectively finding a cure would be nigh impossible...but it may just be possible to produce some sort of targeted viral suppressant which may alleviate some of the symptoms and keep the viral infection at bay for a set duration of time...and time after all, is now our most valuable commodity."

Now almost completely ignoring the commander, the viceroy grabbed himself a few painkillers, swallowed them and started working on that which he had now promised: a suppressant. He had to be on guard though, avoiding to show too much of what he was about to do, so he hoped that the situation with the quarantine would be enough to have the commander be kept busy elsewhere and out of sight, as after all...not everything the viceroy would be doing would be considered...natural.
