GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Dorn Company
  • Affiliation: Silver Jedi
  • Classification: Black Ops/Direct Action Raid Team
  • Description

Red on black, beards, tattoos, misfits, judicial punishments by the fistful, jailing, criminals, former pirates, former criminals, former enforcers, former thieves, pickpockets, goons. Mandalorians, One Sith commandos, former Stormtroopers. The general consensus in the Silver Jedi is that the men in Dorn Company are not 'good people'. It was Setter Ryburn Setter Ryburn 's dream to have a place for the undesirables of the galaxy to do some good. Amon Vizsla and the subsequent commanders of Dorn Company carried out his vision prior to his sacrifice on the Terror-Australis during their coordination with Task Force Raider. After Task Force Raider was established, Dorn Company's mission set, equipment, and training was re-structured to reflect Setter's initial vision, of a rapidly-deployable unit, capable of hitting enemy target's deep behind enemy lines, or reinforcing friendly positions with highly-trained and highly-capable Operators.

Operators are chosen, and selected based on a grueling process, modeled similarly to Setter's initial training module for the Raider team, although not as personally vindictive or haze-worthy. Each Operator has years or months of active combat experience within the Rangers, or joins from an outside unit after undergoing a screening process to weed out 'undesirables' and more importantly, spies and traitors.

The Operators then undergo, deep in the darkest and dirtiest and predator-filled canals of the Shadowlands- a grueling selection process. Training comes later- the selection comes first. All those who wish to be in Dorn Company, must earn their place. This is where most wash out of and fail- though not every selection process is the same. For some, physical activity and sleep deprivation is the norm, so the Instructors and Selection cadre tend to mix it up, making the stories of what they went through at Selection quite a varied and sometimes a personal hell for some.

But each Operator earns their patch and takes the 'Long ride up', on an ancient Wookie-style basket that carries them above the Shadowlands and back to the Ranger base above, emerging as Dorn Company Rangers- not just Rangers.

COMBAT INFORMATION:
  • Unit Size: Medium
  • Unit Availability: Rare
  • Unit Experience: Elite.
  • Equipment:

RS16 - The only weapon common to most, if not all Rangers in Dorn Company. Dorn Company is usually outfitted with the standardized loadout of a Ranger, or a specialized 'low profile', consisting of red night-vision, plate carriers, and smaller-profile helmets to help them blend in better with mercenaries, or not be immediately identified as Antarian Rangers.
  • Ranger Riders - Commonly seen worn by Rangers off-duty, near Jedi, and near water. Sometimes worn in combat in very hot, or very wet environments.
  • Combat Function: Direct Action Raid Team, Hunter/Killer Team, Force Multiplying Assets
Strengths:
  • Subject Matter Experts. Dorn Company Rangers are especially gifted at warfare, and their selected fields. They are capable of teaching their tactics as well as they are practicing them.
  • Combat-Focused. Dorn Company is especially gifted at focusing on combat, and trains their Rangers to be combat-orientated, unlike most of the other Silver Jedi units, who often also serve in humanitarian roles. Dorn Company exists only to kill people.
  • Violent. Dorn Company's Rangers are violent- and are not afraid to exercise their violence on the enemies of the Silver Jedi, close combat or otherwise.
  • Rapidly Deploy. Dorn Company is able to be rapidly inserted and deployed, thanks to both their experience and their doctrine.
  • Discreet. Dorn Company is also made of capable wetwork operators, operating in deniable areas, or deep outside Silver Space in the interest of the Silver Jedi.
Weaknesses:
  • Selected. Dorn Company is selected, hand-picked by the Cadre and the Rangers within Dorn Company. Therefore, the screening process is arduous, long, and drops many canididates within the first few hours alone. This also means that they cannot replace fallen Rangers easily, or even quickly. Setter was adamant about keeping standards high, therefore there is no rapid selection process, even after suffering heavy losses.
  • Infantry. Despite all of Dorn Company's specializations, they are only light infantry, and can be easily decimated, no matter how good their training is, numerically. Dorn Company does not have a dedicated anti-armor unit, as they are Commandos first and foremost.
  • Xenophobic. Thanks to the loss of Setter, the anti-Jedi sentiment within Dorn Company festered, to the point that most Rangers in Dorn Company downright hate Jedi, feeling that during most major engagements, the Rangers primarily suffer the brunt of losses and the weight of responsibility. The veracity of this claim varies from fight to fight, though the sentiment remains within Dorn Company.
  • Troublemakers. Dorn Company often faces judicial proceedings, off world and in Silver Rest itself, mostly due to it's Misfit collection of selected Rangers.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Originally the brainchild of Setter Ryburn, a former Republic Havoc Squad Commando, and Amon Vizsla, a Mandalorian has-been washed out and an incredibly conflicted man, in it's inception within Task Force Raider for the fight against the now-defeated and subjugated Mandalorian Empire, Dorn Company existed first as an assault element of Task Force Raider. Setter Ryburn developed what would become most of Dorn Company's doctrine in his initial mercenary and freelance unit, Razor Team. Razor Team's MO of finding misfits and having a hard, hand-picked selection process from a variety of units with different tactics and experiences would make for a deadly Commando unit. This lesson, and Razor Team's members were ultimately shipped into Silver Space, joining with the Rangers at the request of Setter himself, after Setter was involved in the loss at Coruscant in which Setter barely escaped with his life.

From there, Setter enlisted with the Republic Remnant, but only was able to participate in the battle of Teth, before the Republic Remnant fell apart (and Setter was asked to leave due to a disagreement with the upper echelon of the would-be Commanding Elements). Setter there would develop a desire for a small-unit, as opposed to the larger, ineffective units he'd been working with in the past, that failed to yield the results he wanted, desiring the Special Operations mindset he sought to have, along with the selection of soldiers.

Following several independent operations, once Razor team was developed into Dorn Company, Setter and Amon themselves lead several successful missions and operations, in and out of Silver Jedi space. From ship-boarding to rescue missions, Dorn Company was constantly at the forefront of Silver Jedi combat operations, often the more aggressive and commanding element than the Jedi themselves.
