Shuklaar Kyrdol

CEO of Breshig War Forge Consolidated
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create a vehicle based Soft-kill Active Protection System for Breshig War Forge Consolidated, Strill Securities, Mandalorians and select others.
  • Canon Link: N/A
  • Permissions: N/A
  • Primary Source: CG/GL-05 Countermeasure Grenade
PRODUCTION INFORMATION
SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • Manda Tactical Module Compatibility: The 'Haaranovor' is fully capable of being controlled by a Manda tactical battlenet module, taking full advantage of not only its own predictive analysis protocols but also any networked sensor suites courtesy of other Manda tactical battlenet modules.
  • Full Sensor Integration: The 'Haaranovor' can utilize the sensors and scanners of the platform that it is mounted in to detect and analyze incoming threats and deploy the appropriate countermeasure.
  • EMP/Ion: With reinforced duraplast reinforced frame and a combat de-ionizer, the system is well protected against EMP/Ion attacks.
WEAKNESSES
  • Non-guided Weapons: It has no effect against non-guided missiles, rockets, shells, torpedoes or those aforementioned systems that also have an inertial guidance system.
  • Near Miss: A near miss has the chance of doing damage to friendlies and allies closeby to the vehicle. Though generally networked Manda systems will try to coordinate deployment of such systems to minimize the chances of this happening.
  • EMP/Ion: While the housing for the unit is mounted inside a vehicle a EMP/Ion weapons can affect the sensors that the system uses to detect and assess threats.
DESCRIPTION
"The age old struggle between armor and anti-armor weapons is as much as a constant as the struggle between Jedi and Sith, Jedi and Jedi, Sith and Sith, Mandalorians and everyone that looked at us funny...you know, the galaxy sure is filled with contentious people."
- Shuklaar Kyrdol, CEO of Breshig War Forge Consolidated
The 'Haaranovor' was designed to give vehicles a measure of security versus the large number of smart ordnance developed for use against them, but careful battlefield data analysis showed Breshig War Forge Consolidated that the system was useful to not only vehicles, but also droids as well as gunships and transports given the amount of ground fire they take on approach to a hot landing zone. After one particular disastrous ground assault by Strill Securities, Shuklaar was approached by his old friend Nyles Kote at a bar with, and the first thing said by him was the number of parents he'd had to inform that their ad'ika had passed. Needless to say, the system was immediately adapted for use on gunships and transports after that.

The way in which the system works is relatively simple. Using the platform's sensors, it monitors for any incoming threats. Should the system detect anything that matches the profile of a missile, rocket or torpedo, then it will attempt to ascertain what means it is using to track the platform. At which point, it will then choose to determine whether it will deploy an EM Ordnance Probe, Chaff or Flares, based on proximity of friendly assets. Should the system detect incoming energy based weapons fire, it will instead deploy the anti-laser aerosol version of the CG/GL-05 countermeasure grenade. Finally, if the platform is in retreat, a condition set by its operators or if it is out of the other countermeasures, the system will instead deploy the nagnol gas version of the CG/GL-05 countermeasure grenade.

Alternatively, the system can instead be manually overridden by the crew to launch individual countermeasures, or it can be controlled by an installed Manda tactical battlenet module, taking full advantage of not only its own predictive analysis protocols but also any networked sensor suites courtesy of other Manda tactical battlenet modules.

The system does not provide protection against any and all threats encountered on the battlefield; it has no effect against non-guided missiles, rockets, shells, torpedoes or those aforementioned systems that also have an inertial guidance system. Additionally, a near miss has the chance of doing damage to friendlies and allies closeby to the vehicle. Though generally networked Manda systems will try to coordinate deployment of such systems to minimize the chances of this happening. Finally, while the housing for the unit is mounted inside a vehicle a EMP/Ion weapons can affect the sensors that the system uses to detect and assess threats.
