OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

"Because of my concern for the state of the galaxy and longevity of the Order in the wake of evidence that the dark side of the Force is continuously growing, I wanted to build out a comprehensive training program that I felt would improve the process of apprentices becoming well-rounded Jedi Knights in times like these."
-- Romi Jade

"Trial by fire style. It was her way. Every Padawan she had under her had befallen the same style. Trials by combat, and training. It was the first of any trial given to her students. Even when speaking to her in the past, she always mentioned of needing to trust that we, would be able bodied, and with the capability to defend ourselves. Considering I am still alive, it should be a testament to that."
-- Kaleleon

"Her teaching program is brutal...but effective."
-- Jakku Enclave Student

GENERAL INFORMATION

SOCIAL INFORMATION
  • Author: Jedi Master Romi Jade
  • Publisher: Self
  • Reception: These are thoughts, observations, experiences, and lessons that Romi has learned over time. She decided to muse and document in her private time with the intention of finally building out a system for novice and advanced Jedi training that she strongly believes has successful results, and is more efficient in training apprentices when the Order's numbers are low. This method falls in line with the "learning through experience" philosophy, and provides a loose structure on how Masters and Jedi Knights furthering study can go about implementing it. It's a piece of a larger book she is writing. It's not widely known or available anywhere else for there to be tons of reception. Beyond the pages she authored and spare memory crystal she keeps, this is flying under the radar.

FORMAT INFORMATION
To be included in a larger book Romi is authoring, this reads from left to right on two pages. Handwritten notes and marks that outline her experiences and her reflections on them, along with pointers, and tips for the studier. The information contained in the crystal could only be accessed when placed in a holocron which, in turn, could only be opened with the Force. Once opened, the three-dimensional appearance and cognitive networks of Master Jade, that could sense the ability and level of a Jedi, would appear to begin explaining Jedi training techniques and exercises.

CONTENT INFORMATION
These pages detail each of the chambers within the 25 Chambers training philosophy:

"I think the traditional training system needs an overhaul."

"The best way I can protect you is by teaching you to protect yourself."

"The name is a metaphor -- most people hear the name and think of an actual building or facility of some kind. It's not. That's on purpose. There is no physical location or actual chamber(s) in which such training is conducted. It's more a series of guidelines, with specials tasks, lessons, and exercises an apprentice has to complete or learn in order to move onward. This puts them right on a path straight to Knighthood."

"This way helps students develop their own sense and approach to the Force by helping them move within a guideline, providing a platform to catapult them forward."

The Chambers broken down:

The First - Sixth chambers: The first few levels deal with conditioning. They train wrist and forearm strength, core strength, balance, and eyesight; general able-bodiness. The use of meditative martial arts, physical exercises, survival techniques, and somatic rituals were in hopes of further developing an inherently weak connection to the Force into something stronger. Trainees were frequently required to push the limits of their physical stamina while using the Force to gain strength. Lessons typically combined a physical component with a spiritual component related to the nature of the Force. Romi believed in general combat-readiness at all times, and it was the first thing she drilled into her students -- she needed to ensure their bodies could handle stress, and they were well within the realm of general athleticism. After passing these chambers, students were then able to learn combat forms.
The Seventh - Ninth Chambers: The next three chambers dealt with actual combat forms, the refinement of such and the inclusion of unorthodox techniques, and her personal theory of "You should always be acting and never reacting". Apprentices are encouraged to adopt a form that speaks to them, and from there theory and technique are taught.
The Tenth & Eleventh Chambers: The following chambers deal with harnessing and refining control over the Force on a basic level, or this stage can be modified to fit a specific ability -- "It's not abnormal for students to begin training after already having manifested a specific power or ability...something they just have a knack for."
The Twelfth - Eighteenth Chambers: The next stage of instruction comes directly from experience in the field. Students would accompany their master on missions to gain experience and they would sometimes be sent on missions on their own. They would be encouraged to take on mentors, other FU's and NFU's alike, to gain insight to things of the Galaxy beyond their current Jedi Path. This was typically the stage at which their abilities grew through use and demand.
The Nineteenth - Twenty-first Chambers: This stage involves apprentices learning and honing a skill or ability outside of their usual range (i.e martial arts, conventional weaponry, medicine, piloting, history, alchemy etc) Anything that can enhance their skillset further. Romi usually subjects her students to a year long sabbatical with Morgukai Assassins where they learn martial arts, and restraint, only to fight them in real combat a year later to prove they're worthy of holding such knowledge.

The Twenty-second - Twenty-Fifth Chambers: These final levels are comparable to what a Jedi would go through during the Trials of Knighthood traditionally -- "Look, you go through crap during this journey, or at least those with something to give do. The Galaxy will throw physical, and mental challenges at you. Tons of blood and sweat goes into this career..." -- Instead of the formalized 5 tests that were traditionally administered, the final chambers supplanted those with the standard physical and mental challenges, along with the conflict that a Jedi is going to encounter in the field as test enough of whether they deserve Knighthood. It's the culmination of their training that will either see them overcome everything via the foundation they have or fall to it.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Romi Jade has always been somewhat of an anomaly when it comes to the Jedi Path. Between 830-840s ABY, In her youth, padawanship to Knighthood, Romi chose the unorthodox in every approach to her training, and highly emphasized overall preparedness for any situation. These traits stuck with her well into her Mastership when she began to take on apprentices of her own. With the structure listed above in mind, she was a hardy and tough Master who ran an intense program that often proved extremely difficult for her students to withstand in the beginning stages.

She went on to open her own Enclave on Jakku that adopted similar practices and used a harsh environment to instruct students in the ways of the Jedi. These practices were still in place when she moved to be Headmaster of the Ossus Jedi Praxeum. Her methodology has always been to provide students with what she believed they needed to start and maintain a Jedi career with longevity in a Galaxy engulfed in constant war.

It wasn't until recently that she decided to document and record her personal history, experiences, and new discoveries. Becoming Headmaster of an Enclave and then a Praxeum, and a bunch of near-death experiences made her want to author some sort of tome and record data for her Holocron one day. The tome once complete will be used to teach the next generations.
