Ready For Judge The Jedi Praxeum (Knossa)

The Planet Ossus via the Jedi Archives

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Structure Name: Jedi Praxeum
  • Classification: Jedi Praxeum
  • Location: Knossa, Ossus
  • Affiliation: The Jedi Praxeum
  • Accessibility: The city of Knossa was nestled high in the western Eocho Mountains, far to the south of the planet's equator. Accessibility was given to Jedi only. The Order established this Praxeum within the city to train Jedi visiting Ashlanae etc. Non-Jedi members, who engaged in scholarly pursuits and sought pilgrimage to Ashlanae, would have to be escorted by members of the Order.
Description: After the Jedi helped rebuild Knossa, they sought to reconstruct the Praxeum with the same materials used in the construction of it's predecessor. Much in the same way, the structure used natural local stone and aged, ornamented bronzium. The inspiration was learning how to use the Force not only for defense, but for sustenance, insight, and to commune with nature. As such, the construction took place in a way that did as little damage as possible to the already existing ecosystem. The Praxeum was built around the Eye of Ashlanae, extending outward from the center of the vergence, much in the same way as Knossa itself.
The Praxeum is actually a campus consisting of several types of building structures. There are the main educational spires, and outdoor facilities. The educational spires,

along with key outdoor facilities, and some support buildings, are grouped closely together. As a result, the campus is rather large but most of it leaves a lot of what naturally occurred around the construction zone untouched.
At its base, the Praxeum was an open-air temple that consisted of a flat pavilion defined by eight large, thick, spire-like minarets; each step that lead up to, and the flooring within each spire has mosaic floors and were sites of monumental arcades depicting several heroes. The heart of the campus reveals itself as one travels inwards. A bustle of activity, at its center was a circular decline that lead to the Eye of Ashlanae vergence, around which lessons were taught. Four spires of eight have specific purposes; they are much larger and more angular than others. But overall, each serves to train and educate future Jedi in a curriculum that ensures they are ready for the galaxy at large.
With the Eye at the center of everything, the four larger spires known as the Pillars of Memit:
  • Northwest Tower
  • Northeast Tower
  • Southwest Tower
  • Southeast Tower
Each serve a specific function in the realm of training. The remaining four, have been reserved/dedicated to living accommodations on a

first come first served basis, containing individual small rooms with any extra space being used for storage. They also featured meditative balconies. There was also a main hub or common area at the center, and a corridor that led to two smaller chambers across from each other that doubled as conference rooms, communications and medical bays, and dining halls.
A training course was added and used by the Jedi of the Praxeum to hone their skills. A labyrinth-like, jungle path located to the South of the Praxeum campus offered Jedi students plenty of opportunity to improve their skills in the Force, via actual application.
It was designed to be completely self-contained, having been built with every facility needed to maintain its self-sufficiency, and whomever was present at the time often helped serve as stewards of the facility, helping oversee its functions, under the guidance of the Council.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Eye of Ashlanae - A meditative retreat built at the heart of the city of Knossa. Considered a great source of the Order's power, the entire facility was a vergence within the Force itself. The ideal cultural center for the Order's members, when it was rebuilt, it went back to becoming a popular pilgrimage site for members of the Order. Jedi often sit in deep contemplation and sort through the problems of the era, or engage in insightful rhetoric. Looking both inward and outward, Jedi sought out the vergence within Ashlanae to ensure that their decisions were free of the taint of the dark side.
  • The Northwest Tower - The Northwest Tower taught the art of the lightsaber. Students learned the art of combat and martial skills. Dojos, arenas, gyms, and weapon crafting areas were found in this location.
  • The Northeast Tower - The Northeast Tower instructed students exclusively in the manipulation of the Force and how to use it through introspection and meditation etc. This tower had four floors, two of which were riddled with meditation/study chambers. The other two were large oratorical spaces where critical matters arose, where decisions were made, and theories debated.
  • The Southwest Tower - The Southwest Tower served to educate students with the knowledge they need to function in the galaxy at large successfully, which is especially important for younger students who may not have had any formal education yet. A wide variety of non-Force topics, and keys to understanding and operating within the galaxy outside of Jedi-hood were taught here.
  • The Southeast Tower - The Southeast Tower was reserved for remote access to the Great Jedi Library archives. The tower contained limited amounts of collected wisdom in person, but provided computer access to the Library. Every holocron, scroll and tome the Order treasured was kept on campus was here. At the very top of the tower, the Jedi Praxeum Council oversaw the governance of the training facility.
  • Jedi Training Course - A labyrinth-like, jungle trail located to the South of the Praxeum, offered Jedi students plenty of opportunity to improve their skills in the Force against both the natural jungle terrain of Ossus as well as a group of Marksman-H combat remotes, and ASP-19 battle droids.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The Jedi Praxeum grounds
Following the First Order's destruction of Ossus' landscape during their battle against the Silver Jedi, a battle in which Romi Jade participated in as a Jedi Knight, the Sith Empire moved in to fill the vacuum left behind by the Jedi's rout. Years later, as a Jedi Master, Romi Jade would face the Sith threat on Ossus again though under the leadership of The Worm Emperor -- two very destructive battles of many that have left a world with strong ties to the origin of the Jedi scarred. Much of its landscape has become dark and twisted, many of its cities and settlements were left in ruin. When the new Jedi Praxeum sprouted up to reclaim the world, the Jedi made it their mission to rebuild many of the structures lost to them and the natives. This lead to the rehabilitation of the Great Jedi Library, and the rebuilding of Knossa City. In an ode to all they've lost dating back to the Cron Supernova -- the Jedi decided to reconstruct a new Praxeum within the city limits of Knossa.
