Public Walks of Life - Ithorian Herdship Festival [Coruscant]

WALKS OF LIFE

The interior of an Ithorian herdship was unlike that of any other. Much of its space was constructed to fill the role of a city, not a vessel. Actual buildings jutted out from the top, and deeper within, the people enjoyed a harmonious arcology. Trees, parks, reservoirs, and even a simulated natural sky, balanced out the condensed urban constructs.

The Vonnuvi was one such herdship. It stood out even among its sister ships for the great many relief efforts it took part in; Offering trade, supplies, and even refuge to those without. It's latest stop was here: within orbit of Coruscant. The purpose of this stop was to forge new relations, stock up for the coming journey, and to celebrate a better future.

The main festival was taking place within the Inner City Commerce Sector, but the full breadth of the Vonnuvi was now officially open to visitors. The skylight was dimmed to early evening, interrupted by bright (and simulated) fireworks. People from all walks of life flooded the streets, while some of the Jedi had gathered within the Administrative Sector to witness the official opening of their Enclave.

Tonight was a night for leisure. Come tomorrow, the Vonnuvi would begin it's voyage in earnest, carving a path through the galaxy's most broken regions, offering whatever help it can.

THE CITY

The Vonnuvi is ready to accept visitors from Coruscant. They are hosting a city-wide celebration within the ship, a bon voyage of sorts prior to setting off on their next route. The herdship's High Priest, Gillom Rone , will be overseeing the main event within the Inner City's Commerce District market square, but there are plenty of opportunities to explore on board:

• Sell and trade with locals and fellow visitors— The Vonnuvi's markets carry curiosities from all corners of the galaxy. Feel free to add your own goods or services to the melting pot.
• Visit the biodomes— One of the Vonnuvi's greatest prides: several enclosed ecosystems, including ones that represent worlds that have been lost or otherwise rendered uninhabitable, are hosted within the ship. Explore and reminisce on worlds since past.
• Celebrate— Eat, drink, and socialize with all who have come to take part in the Vonnuvi's departure festival. It's an easy opportunity to enjoy oneself and experience something new.
• Other— The Vonnuvi is an entire city full of potential. Take part in the Upper City's nightlife, visit the Cultural Exchange Museum, get a view from the observation decks. Whatever interests you.

THE ENCLAVE

The Vonnuvi is not alone in its goals. Jedi Knight and Chief Healer of the New Jedi Order, Amani Serys , has forged a working relationship with the High Priest and his herd. With his permission, a Jedi Enclave has been constructed on board the Vonnuvi. This Enclave will serve as a new mobile base for Jedi who wish to find opportunities among the herdship, and the galaxy.

As part of the celebration, tonight is the official opening of this Jedi Enclave. Jedi are welcome to explore the new construction, and socialize with their peers against the festival backdrop. Jedi are free to come and go as they please, but a non-Jedi will need to be accompanied by a Jedi to enter the Enclave. The rest of the ship is open to all.

Hey! This has been something of a pet project for me, and I wanted to use a social thread to bring it into action. Hopefully people like it, and it can become a cool setting for future RP. I'll add a few notes here just to make things clear:

• First off: Here's the LFG for more details, in case you missed it!
• This is a social thread. Low-stakes shenanigans are one thing, but full derailing is a no-go. If you're an all-mighty Sith Lord or a wanted criminal this might not be the thread for you. Otherwise, anyone who can reasonably justify being on or around Coruscant is welcome to get involved.
• Of course if you have any questions, feel free to poke or DM. I strongly recommend giving the Codex subs a look over (both linked in this post), but also I'm not going to be a stickler about things as long as whatever you're writing doesn't fly in the face of what's already there. Most of what's covered in the subs is just broad strokes— It's an entire city after all.
• If you're interested in doing more regarding the ship or the Enclave then by all means hit me up! I'd be happy to have folks involved : )

The Vonnuvi, Commerce Sector

The Inner City of the Vonnuvi was thronging with life. Droves of visitors and locals alike filled the market streets, looking to trade, mingle, and celebrate. The sheer density of people was greater than they had seen in years, perhaps even ever. As was to be expected from the heart of galactic civilization itself: Coruscant. This stop created a unique opportunity; A blending of culture and life rarely seen all in one place. Not to mention, it brought the Vonnuvi's mission into the public light. Just as the Enclave could provide an opportunity for Jedi to become more involved in humanitarian work, perhaps so too could the Vonnuvi itself, for more "everyday" folk.

Gillom Rone strode through the crowds, his head held high and his translator droid hovering close behind. A pair of refugee children ran past, playing a game, living out their youth free of worry. The high priest beamed at the sight, then opened his arms wide in welcome, as a fresh swathe of travelers spilled out from the docks and into the city, "Welcome! Welcome, one and all! The festivities have only just begun!" His droid translated into basic, but was nearly drowned out by the booming bass of his natural Ithorese.

The Vonnuvi, Administrative Sector

The time had finally come, that Amani would see the fruits of her labor laid bare. Inspired by one of her most steadfast mentors, this Enclave was meant to carry on a legacy of virtue, and solidarity. If even just one Jedi was inspired by her mission, then it would be worth it.

Amani stood in front of a Jedi symbol emblazoned on the front of the construct, overlooking the Jedi that had come to see it for themselves. She sighed, waited for some of the lingering murmurs to die down, then spoke, "I'd just like to take a moment to thank those of you who have come to celebrate our opening. This Enclave has been a dream of mine for some time. Ever since I learned about the herdships, I couldn't help but see the potential borne out of our collaboration.

When I was a padawan, one of my dearest mentors was an Ithorian master named Niwa. She lived on this very ship in her youth, and inspired me to become the woman I am today. With these people, I found purpose when I was at my lowest. And many others have done the same, thanks to the Vonnuvi's endless humanitarian efforts. My hope is that we can become a part of those efforts. That together, we can do more than we ever could apart. The galaxy needs people who are willing to help. People who are willing to reach out and lend a hand, not just a lightsaber.

For those Jedi who need a change in perspective. For those Jedi who desire a chance to see new stars. Or for those Jedi who just find themselves in need of a home away from home. Consider the Vonnuvi Enclave— and the Vonnuvi itself— To be all that and more. Thank you again, and welcome." Amani stepped aside, and doors at last opened to any Jedi who wished to tour the Enclave's facilities. The central courtyard was set up as the nexus of Jedi-specific festivities, with tables, seats, and refreshments laid out.

Listening to the high priest was a rare pleasure for his young mind. Slowly lumbering up some steps towards the welcome the Elder gave. Far younger than Gillom, the younger Ithorian had to stop and give a respectful bellow. "You have helped caretake wondrous new life." Rumbled his voice and he moved his head from side to side respectfully. "You do all Ithorians and our galaxy great harmony. May every garden you tend bloom in balance." Gillom Rone The young Ithorian's tone was extremely reverent for the elder, and his words were full of harmony. Although excited to be here, his voice to a non-Ithorian would still be overly slow and laborious, if they could understand the language at all.

The padawan awaited his guest that he had been tasked to accompany today. Liin "Tera" Terallo . Not of the usual Jedi order here, he couldn't escort her to the enclave but the biodomes would be such a wonderous sight to see. Everywhere would be a new harmony to experience. He had heard of herdships, but in his young life far from their homeworlds, never had been on one!

Dressed in the robes of the Silver Jedi order, they were simple and plain brown attire. Being a student of form zero there was no lightsaber on his person. If anything Ithorians were a completely pacifist species. He turned to his companion when she arrived and asked, "what would you like to walk through first." Using a translator collar, his basic was quite good, but spoken in a very slow rumble. The crowds among them meant he stood carefully to the side to avoid disturbing movement.

Luxar | Klocto | Sword​

"Quite a beautiful city," Luxar noted, a slight buzz in his deep synthetic voice. "This has to be the nicest gig we've ever taken."

An unusual trio made their way through the streets of the mobile city, hauling their equipment to where the celebration that the local Ithorians were hosting was to be taking place. It was the largest event that Xeno had ever been out to, at least in recent memory. Granted, they really hadn't been doing gigs for too long, but they were starting to get the hang of it.

Things were different now after the war. The Jedi he had met on Denon had greatly changed Xeno's perspective. Since that day, something had changed in him. The drive to fight, to make right, it shifted into something new. Blossomed into a journey of self discovery and acceptance, free from the pit that the Sith had dragged him into. The half-Nagai still felt that in spite of his best efforts, he still had a long road to redemption.

At least he had friends now. People just like him.

"Too bad we're here to taint the airways," the Rodian Klocto lamented. "This place is so light... I wager we stick out like a sore thumb."

"Cut that out," Xeno stated plainly to the bassist. "That isn't us anymore."

"Yeah..." Klocto sighed. "Right. Sorry, Chief."

"Do lighten up," the Shard drummer chimed in a warm tone. "The vibes are good here. May as well bask in it a bit."

"Fair enough," the Rodian shrugged. "Might as well take my mind off it while I can't smoke..."

"Welcome! Welcome, one and all! The festivities have only just begun!"

"Hey, listen to that, big guy," Klocto grinned, elbowing Luxar. "Sounds like we'll be up soon. You know the schedule, Chief?"

"No clue," the former assassin answered, continuing to walk rather wordlessly.

Xeno himself was still rather melancholy. He was a quiet, antisocial man at heart, a product of his upbringing ultimately. He wasn't here to talk anyways. The half breed was here to leave a piece of himself behind, spilled out to an audience of those eager to listen to his story. It didn't matter what the words meant. Only rhythm would set him free from his shackles.

Before long, Sithspit was at the staging area, preparing their equipment for their largest performance yet.

"Vera, please don't-"

And she was gone.

Vera was particularly skilled in spotting stalls where exotic snacks were being sold, and she wasn't going to wait on anybody. She sprinted through the crowd and if it wasn't for Jedi senses or Kahlil being tall enough to look over almost anybody, it'd have been hard to keep track of her. Much to her mother's frustration.

"Is it just me, or is she getting a lot more difficult lately?" Valery sighed and looked at Kahlil. She couldn't be mad or frustrated, and the smirk on her face showed it. Vera just had too much of her mother's chaotic energy, and this was the age where it would show. Hopefully, it would only be a phase.

While they caught up with their daughter, Valery inched a little closer and looked up at her husband again, "I was thinking... I heard this ship has a biodome for Panatha. Would it be interesting to take Vera there? It's the closest thing to your homeworld that she'll ever be able to see."

"Mommy! Daddy! Can I have one?!" Vera called over from a distance while she pointed at a huge, weird-looking lollipop. Valery's eyes briefly shifted to their little star, but before answering the question, she turned back to Kahlil.

"What do you think? We can also just stay here and let her goof off."

Ko had personally never been to Tython before. He was young and understood that much of its environment had been destroyed. So he valued the opportunity to get just a window into the planet’s ecological history. Not only that but it was most similar to his homeworld compared to the other domed biomes that the ship possessed. The Ithorians were proficient stewards of the natural world. Something Ko could greatly respect.

Sometimes being away from Dorin made him homesick, but more so it reminded him how much he took not needing to wear a breath mask 24/7 was something he took for granted. He had gotten very much used to wearing it, and they were designed well to feel like just another part of one’s face. But that stopped being the case when most of your diet was liquid based. Needing to be drunk from a straw though said mask. Unless he wanted to risk hurting his lungs.

At least he came to somewhat enjoy the familiar taste of nutripaste. But Ko shook the ideas of what he was likely going to eat for dinner tonight to focus once more on the enclosed Alpine ecosystem he found himself in. He could only imagine the skill it took to replicate the ecology of Tython with such balance. Ko much preferred this to terraforming. Which frequently destroyed one kind of environment to make way for another. Generally one more palatable to human inhabitants.

"Good speech," Jasper noted as he made his way up to the chief healer, "But I'm not really a public speaker, so I guess that's not much coming from me."

The Vonnuvi was such a vibrant vessel, filled with life and light. It was not the kind of place that Jasper had never been to before. He had taken a bit of time before the opening of the Enclave to see the biodomes and look at what remained of worlds lost to the many conflicts of the galaxy. Tython, Csilla... Panatha. These were recent, some of which Jasper had never had the chance to see, one of which he was present on the day it would be snuffed from the galaxy. It was touching to see these places preserved, even if only in fragments.

"This is a special place," he stated. "I'm glad that you were able to work out the arrangements for this Enclave. There's certainly a lot I'd like to learn from the herd about their humanitarian efforts..."

There was something highly personal about her speech as well. The mention of her master, the one who had put her down the path of healing. It was touching. Jasper wondered if he'd ever be capable of sharing such vibrancy with his words. Perhaps one day.

"Maybe I'll stay here for a while," the councilmember decided. "After I get the Shield Core self sufficient, anyways."

He'd return to Coruscant as the council needed him, of course, and he had a duty to make his leadership for relief available, but perhaps some time studying the traditions of the herd could do him some good. A good month long retreat at the Enclave on the Vonnuvi could prove to be quite valuable.

[ glitch ]

An excited giggle slipped out as the young Nautolan peeked out from where the final touches were being put on his costume before he went out on stage.

The energy from the people gathering and mulling around was infectious. Plus, if that wasn't enough, he was backstage with SITHSPIT! To that end, the boy's large, black eyes peered around backstage until they found Xeno and his crew setting up.

This was so astral!

The small Nautolan was literally bouncing up and down with energy, when he saw the backstage crew flash him the signal. Two minutes.

Drawing in a deep breath, the teen tried to calm his nerves as a stage hand came over with a microphone that was looped around one of his head-tendrils and poised along the right side of the boy's face. No sooner had the fingers been pulled away from his head before Zak was being pushed out onto the stage. Stepping into the center, the boy waited for the curtain call.

In the musical arena, the band that went first was usually the least important in terms of billing. But Zak preferred opening. It let him do what he did best.

He was the hype man.

"Ladies and gentlemen, species of all ages... GLITCH."

[ DISTANCE ]​

The lights swept up the stage, as the first notes of the song started to hit.

"Oh, 'cause I never really wanted you to notice," the boy sang, an effect rendering his voice as a ghostly echo. "And I, distance myself from you..."

As he walked forward several steps, several backup dancers came out onto the stage behind him.

"You don't even know what you like and you don't like."

The beat dropped hard. Zak pitched himself into the choreography, his movements seemingly perfectly synchronized with those of the dancers behind him.

At the same time, Zak was amazed at the strength of the Force. It seemed to ride on every note. Resonating out into the crowd, blending with the crowd's energy, and then returning in a sort of loop that connected every part of the festival.

The song lasted less than four minutes, but under the lights and feeling the energy of the crowd, it seemed like forty for the Nautolan. A sheen of sweat glistened against the green skin as the boy came out of the first set.

Walking out along the front part of the stage, the boy peered out over the crowd as he belted out, "HELLO VONNUVI! Is everybody having a good time?"

He used the applause as a break in which to catch his breath. Then he jumped right back into it. "We've got a great show for you tonight," the boy announced with a genuine cheer. He was, after all, the biggest groupie here. "We've got Sithspit. We've got Friendzoned at the Funeral so for this next song, I want to hear you put your hands together so we welcome them to the stage, Ithorian herdship style!"

Putting his hands together, the Nautolan started clapping in time with the beat that started up. Side stepping, he hustled down the right side of the stage as he tried to drive the crowd energy up, clapping and bouncing up and down. Then he strafed down the left as the intro continued.

Still clapping, the Nautolan moonwalked back to the center of the stage as the second act began.

[ WORD UP ]

"Yo, pretty Luyal around the world got a weird thing to show you so tell all the B'das and Garoos, tell your brother, your sister, and mama too cause they're about to go down and you'll know just what to do," the Nautolan sang, as he and the backup singers began the choreography for the song.

This had to be the Nautolan's favorite part. Arm in the air, the boy demonstrated as he sang, "Wave your hands in the air like you don't care, glide by the People as they start to look and stare."

Transitioning into a shuffle, the boy continued, "Do your dance, do your dance, do your dance quick -- Mama, come on baby, tell me what's the word."

Putting his hands together, Zak was bopping along as he gestured to the audience to drive and get them to clap and sing along.

"Ah, WORD UP."

He loved the energy of this set, which was why he'd picked it.

As soon as he cleared the stage, Xeno would be up and he'd hopefully have a well warmed up audience to perform to.

“Csilla, Tython, Panatha..” Cordé stared up at the list of names that correlated to coloured dots on the map and locked her hands behind her back. Csilla tundra, Dac coast, Dubrava swamp, Jedha desert, Kubindi cavern, Lothal prairie, Panatha rainforest, Tython alpine, it was an extensive and a beautiful project.

After a few seconds of peering, she tilted her head to the side slightly as if the shift in perspective would reveal the missing unspeakable.

The unspeakable made her stomach tighten at the mere thought of it. Why wouldn’t she feel queasy thinking about the planet where she’d lost her entire team and failed her mission? Adopting the abilities of a slicer had been beyond her limits, and the self-destruct protocol The Maw had built into its subterranean station had been initiated despite her best efforts. If Sion hadn’t broadcast the evacuation notice to all personnel planetside…

She sighed, and feigned perkiness.

“Think they’ll make a biome for Exegol?”

Behind her, someone made an incredulous scoffing noise.

“Right, that would be in bad taste aboard a ship meant for healing, wouldn’t it?

Doubly so being the same floating city that boasts The Jedi’s newest Enclave.” Did she sound jealous? Of yet another perk Jedi were able to access because of their random blessed connection to the life web of The Force?

Maybe juuusssttttt a little.

Her voice dropped a bit to a more conspiratorial tone. "Did you finish your sweep of the Hydroponics?"

Junior walked the halls of the ship commerce section and observed the various attractions and stalls where he could buy stuff with the allowance he was allowed by his father, secretly of course and unknown by his mothers. For the last few months Junior had been living on Coruscant, learning from the likes of Valery Noble and other master/knights to hone and better utilize his connection to the force. Now he was taking time for himself aboard the herdship that was currently parked in the orbit of Coruscant.

Coruscant, such a foreign world to the young man. He had often heard his father talk about his time growing up on the ecumenopolis but didn't believe half of the things he had said. Though he knew his father never lied for the sake of it he also knew his father was prone to fits of...exaggeration especially when he was trying to 'woo' his mothers as he put it. His stories however were proven to be rather true and since then he had began wondering what else his father had told his was correct.

Seeing a few stalls selling kiddie toys and gifts he made sure to purchase a few and stuff them into a satchel and made a mental note to send the gifts home for his younger siblings. Taking a few more steps the young man found and a bench and sat down, pulling out a datapad and composing a letter to his father, something he had began doing at a regular pace to have a connection home and to apprise his father of his progress, not that the young man needed the olders approval.

 

[Liin "Tera" Terallo]

A herdship is something wonderful to behold. It reminds me of the domed cities of New Cov; however it is rumored that this herdship contains biodomes of it's own! Now that is something that I must see. As well as the fine architecture that some of the buildings might possess.

For this venture, I am to have a guide. A Jedi Ithorian, no less. I am growing a little more used to encountering practitioners. They outnumber everyone else. Or at the very least, they outnumber everyone outside of New Cov. I just have to be sure to continue to uphold the dignity and grace of one of my position.

I find him easily enough and dip my head in greeting. He speaks slowly, yet I smile patiently and pretend that I do not notice. "Good afternoon. I think that I shall like to see the biodomes. I live in one back on New Cov. It will be interesting to see what other domes look like."

The Great Opportunity had arisen with the collapse of several major factions within the galaxy, The True Sith had risen once again to form quite a formidable if unstable state next to the Rimward Trade League. Although to no one's exact surprise a potent civil war soon occured between the followers of the Former Emperor Carnfiex and those loyal to the New Defacto Emperor, each trying to overthrow the other's powerbase in order to secure victory. Such internal distractions were barbaric to the Pau'an Banking Official whose main goal was to stabilize the internal revenue and keep trade flowing through their territory. A process made increasingly difficult until the civil war finally came to a close.

Vinci Carmaad had arrived over the Alliance Capital of Coruscant on board public transportation in order to remain hidden from arguably the most powerful faction within the known galaxy since the closure of the Second Great Hyperspace War. The Ithorian Herdship dubbed the Vonnuvi had arrived over the world and would no doubt provide an excellent opportunity to secure additional investments for the emerging First Bank of Utapau.

The small tap of an ornate Power Cane on the floor surface as the lengthy Pau'an emerged within the Inner City Commerce Sector. The Market was flowing with goods and services and there was certainly many things to do but his main focus was in speaking with the Ithorian High Priest who so graciously welcomed them to the festival.

One Werucoss Nertivor spoke with the High Priest before moving on to accompany Liin "Tera" Terallo leaving a pathway open for him to maneuver through the crowd.

A single bow; gracious and pious. "Ah...High Priest Rone I presume. Your herdship is as magnificent as the rumors say. I wonder if you would spare me time?" A simple question.

Well, boy, you've done it. Not save the galaxy or anything that you'd be heralded into the new generation for, no. Nothing quite like that. It never suited you to be recognized in the lime light. It wasn't the place for Dark Operators like you.

No. You arrived just in time for the leadup into the final battle of some newly waged war in a galaxy that was too familiar with them. A habit it could never get rid of. An addiction it always fell back to when everything else it could provide itself gave nothing but the empty feeling. The one that high could fill completely and then some, make you feel something that you never wanted to be without. That was the galaxy how you saw it. It never changed. Never grew away from it's self destructive tendencies.

But where did that leave the ever stoic Jaqu'n Boiv, hm? What would you do now that the war seemed to be over. That the galaxy would be on its way to recovery for who knew the how many'th time in its long, long existence so long as life has known. Did the entity that brought you from the cold know this would happen- The end of a war you were brought to bring order to? Or was it just a test- See how you'd react to a potential new life within your grasp. Watch how you view the galaxy in a new light and the advances in technology since your primitive days in comparison. It moved on while you sat there in ice. Waiting to be thawed out for a new purpose.

Though I suppose one shouldn't ask that question about you though, my dear boy. You were always one looking for work to do. Because you knew that there was something more than just peace after the war. There hardly ever was. So why should it be that way now, when the galaxy never worked like that?

'Andrew Cole' arrived just in time to the back and left of Cordé's left shoulder as she spoke in that covert manner into their discrete communications channel. Almost too early to have completed his overview of the hydroponics aboard the expansive civilian station that was becoming it's own slice of civilization in the galaxy. Normaly sphere shaped celestial bodies were better recognized for that, all with their comfort and hardships and comforts to come with it, and yet. Here he was. Standing amongst a bustling city where you could look up and watch the stars at any waking hour.

"Yeah."

The singular confirmation matched well in line with the Dark Operator. Cold and plain as ever, with only so much emotion to make you believe he wasn't just some kind of droid covered in synthskin that stepped in line to the tech specialist's side. But if anyone knew the Dark Operator, he was never out of his armor in public. The red crimson visor that was part of him as was his bucket was now replaced with a pair of green eyes, which almost didn't match the elite operator. Feeling almost out of place compared to anything else about the male. His hair swept to the side and sporting an exceptionally trimmed mustache bordering on the side of bushy, he looked much the part of some holodrama action hero than he had a real, bleeding breathing operative.

Yet if there was anything the out of time operator kept to himself, it would be his actual name. No one had the privilege or luxury outside of those that were need to know. That number was already lower than few before he was placed in cryo for the last time.

"'Bout as good as my studies lead me to believe," he continued, voice maintaining surface level conversation that between the both of them and only them. As he spoke looking over the same list of names she had looked over, his hands dug and relaxed into the pockets of the black leather jacket he sported on this outing. 'Cole' almost sounded thoughtful, where in an actual op he probably wouldn't go further than he had already. "Machinery, solutions and the crops being grown in them all checks out. Almost too extraordinary to believe if you weren't looking at the operation being ran. Let alone the this entire station itself, if you ask me."

Whether he noticed the disdain visible on the woman or not, he didn't really say or show it. Perhaps it was only just a coincidence from looking at the same list that had him give a comment of his own, worded in a way only he could put it with how out of place he felt in this new galaxy. "Not surprising that the New Jedi have their claws dug into a place like this though. Haven't changed one bit."

Cato applauded when Micah tol Powl finished his opening act, the complement of music bringing the festival into full swing. Serena was sat atop her father's shoulders shrieking in approval and smacking the top off his like her own personal drum. He winced slightly, but had more or less become used to his status as an impromptu jungle gym and toddler punching bag, "Didn't know they were gonna have legit concert performances here. Pretty cool," It really was just like visiting a terrestrial city, just condensed into an interior space. Even that could be easy to forget, given how much effort was put into simulating a natural setting.

"Anything catch your eye?" Cato spun around to face Inanna. Serena gave a woo as she was spun along for the ride. Normally her dad was tall enough that sitting on his shoulders gave her an impressive view of the surroundings. But many of the Ithorians (who she found profoundly intriguing) here were even taller than him. Cato slipped past the concert crowd and towards a line of market stalls. Each one seemed to be selling something different, from all different parts of the galaxy, "Maybe some food?"

Luxar | Klocto | Sword​

"Groovy, Little Bro," Luxar complemented in passing to Zak as Sithspit made their way towards the stage. "You killed it out there."

"I mess with the energy," Klocto chimed in. "Thanks for the shout out."

Xeno didn't say anything. He didn't often, but he did give a grin and a salute. Before long, they were on the stage, staring out at the gathered crowd. With a casual posture, the half-Nagai made his way up to the staged microphone.

"How are we doin today?"

The crowd erupted into a cacophony of cheering. It was clear that the band's cult following had come out in full force. A faint smile formed on Xeno's face as he waited for the noise to die down.

"It's a pleasure to be out here," he continued. "I'd say something sentimental, but I'm not one for words. Besides, I know what you all came out here for, so let's not keep you waiting."

A strike of the snare set the time, bringing the band quickly into action. Klocto followed Luxar with the bass line, then Xeno with the opening riff.

"Sound the alarm... Shatter me like glass. Covered in scars... But roses are coming through the cracks."

Smoke rolled out over the stage. It wasn't flashy, like Glitch's performance. This was about mood. Stage lights danced through the mist, giving the band a faint outer glow. Even from far off at the back of the venue, the silhouettes of each member were distinct and clear. As Klocto played around with the bass line and Luxar kept the tempo, Xeno leaned in.

"Time that you killed, You promised to help me rebuild. You caught me off guard... Sound the alarm..."

This was a censored version of the more well known piece from their latest album. The original had allusions to 'in bed activities,' but it seemed far to inappropriate for the Herdship. The family friendly version would do fine. After all, the words weren't really that important. It was that they were heard that mattered.

"Said you'd keep me safe, Now you're tearing me down. Am I laid to waist, Now that you're not around. Come and leave your mark... Vandalize my heart."

The tempo and tone shifted as they transitioned into their second song, and a piano was wheeled out for Klocto for the conclusion of the song. A more up beat, rock ballad, a favorite show ender. Xeno was fully in the moment now, letting the rhythm and the projection of his own voice wash over his turbulent mind. In all his life, enslaved by darkness or stumbling through life searching for redemption, never could he say that anything had ever made him feel so alive.

"...Selfish I've been, Oh, what I wouldn't give. To loose it all, And find myself."

The overhead stage lights flared to life, sending warm golden beams down onto the band and out into the crowd.

"I was broken, I was caught up in the moment. I know that I was wrong, But when they turn the lights on."

Xeno was joined by Klocto and Luxar, who provided additional background vocals.

"I'll be stronger, I can stand a little taller, The darkness will be gone, When they turn the lights on."

"Lights on tonight."

Their performance rounded out soft. A short piano ballad, and a lyrical section done in a different language. With that, the lights fell away, the instruments were pulled back behind stage, and the band stood to wave to the crowd.

"Thanks for havin' us," Xeno ended. "Goodnight, Vonnuvi!"

And with that, they took their exit to the back.

Andrew Cole’s words slid over her while she looked at the map. Even tracing one dot to its corresponding location on the map, as if she were making a plan to visit the biome.

As far as either of them had found, the Ithorian herdship was truly self-sustaining — and if sustaining one environment in space wasn’t enough, it had gone to the effort of recreating quasi-livable replica atmospheres in the biomes.

Finally, she nodded and took a step away from the map to let a family of four in to look at it and plan their day under the festive twilight. The ship managed to emulate perfectly the awkward lighting that came with it not being quite bright enough to be afternoon, nor dark enough to be fully evening or night.

“Nothing suspicious with the latest travel logs or manifests, either.” Cordé had been tasked with the docking bay, inserting surveillance into the comings-and-goings of who’s who and what’s what through the standard security protocol of the station. Likely a traffic report that would be rerouted to some low-level analyst who received tens of this sort of information without ever finding anything useful. “Seems standard for a well-supported civilian vessel. So far, I've only managed surface diagnostics of the security on the station.”

The last part of Cole’s sentiment, claws, of Jedi was surprising. As far as she was aware, Agent Cole was not a member of Task Force Null. It was..nice to hear someone who didn’t specialise in anti-Force User activities share a similar sentiment toward them. Or, at least, the inklings of similarity.

She probed a little further.

“Riddle me this, a Jedi Enclave aboard a ship — does that help or hinder with security threats?”

Only stood idly by, seemingly looking at the different biomes reconstructed on the massive station-sized ship. None of them really caught his eye, just names of planets he had been perhaps familiar with in what was a different lifetime. If they were any same now, well. That would certainly surprise him, knowing how the galaxy can be volatile to forcing drastic change.

He followed in step with the tech specialist as she turned to wander off, hands still tucked into the pockets of his jacket until one drew out an unmarked pack. A quick flick, and a small thinly rolled stick of a cigarra popped out to be taken between the operator's lips. It was just as featureless, the extended end the only bit of variation as a faint red line circled the faint white paper. A breath in, and the chemical reaction would light the end with little issue. If he was paying attention to any of his surroundings besides what met that long gaze of his before him, it didn't show as he blew out a plume of, surprisingly, pleasant smelling smoke. Nothing exciting, not like spice or anything comparable to that, but nice and hardly suffocating.

"Matches my observations. Standard security protocols that place it within civilian standards and expectations of that of a civil service. Size of the station alone would need raiders in large numbers for any chance of marginal success." That's honestly how he saw this ship- A station. Mobile and large, and only in the civilian way of life. It left the impression that one day there would be its militarized cousin arriving some time in the future, if not already. But there was his assessment so far. Of course, the full detailed report would include every bit of knowledge he's been able to ascertain. For now there was still more for the pair to discover. They were only just beginning the long work ahead for the even longer paperwork to come of this.

However. His eyes darted to Cordé at his side with the question she poised for him. Perhaps she had caught onto his own sentiment of the Jedi, whether New or Old, and didn't seem to deter from that wavelength. Perhaps he was with like minded individuals after all. He held that gaze for a few seconds before letting it trail back to his front, dragging from the odd cigarra retained between his lips. If she wanted his thoughts, well. The agent would have them.

"Depends." He paused the explanation to allow that to sink in briefly. "Pirates are simple. The epitome of one of the galaxy's many evils. Not easy when they're ruthless, but not beyond what an enclave of Jedi with the aid of security forces can't fend off."

"It's when it comes to wartime the threat comes in. They're peacekeepers. Plain and simple, and fighters, sure. But hardly comparable to what professional soldiers are trained for. Especially with how common I've found Jedi to be in the galaxy, there's no doubt that there'll be a certain level of anti-Force tactics that'll be utilized against them. Aid of security forces isn't going to cut out for them in the eventuality of fighting a competent militarized force."

'Andrew' pulled another drag from the cigarra, letting out a long exhalation of smoke loose to his thoughts. Many variables would be at play, and it would take countless hours just going about each and every one of them, one topic at a time. Whole armies could fight biome to biome, or a specialized covert team could sweep in and make quick of the more critical stations aboard the Vonnuvi. But of course, that's how he saw the Jedi- Peacekeepers, vigilantes with laser swords. Not warriors. Warfighters like Sable had been. Still is. Eventually he let out a soft grunt.

"Does both in the end," he finally concluded, pulling the cigarra from his lips to flick the ashes from its burnt end. That were the Dark Operator's thoughts, best as could be translated. Even if he felt that sense of comparable disdain to Jedi with the fellow agent. Even if he felt Exogel wasn't really an end to a major galactic conflict. Unlike the contrary lies many others believed would come of it.

Yet he was one to pass the ball back into the other court. His next words came off deadpan, as if already convincing himself of the response that was to come. He was asking the question that he didn't seem so intrigued to ask at surface value.

"That sound about right."

Amani smiled bashfully, "I guess my husband has rubbed off on me," A pause, "…His oratory skills, that is," Clearly there was still room for improvement.

She pleaded silently for a change in subject, which was granted. She nodded, "Me too. I thought it would be a nice opportunity for other Jedi. That maybe they can gain some of the same perspective I did," The mirialan spun on her heels, walking into the Enclave itself as they continued to speak, "They know what they're doing. The high priest has made it his purpose since day one. I find it all quite fascinating really," The seamless harmony of technology and nature. The beauty of cooperation and intermingling between different peoples and cultures. The sheer efficiency of their altruistic deeds. The Vonnuvi was something of a personal utopia for Amani.

They passed through the foyer, the cloister, then out into the courtyard. Fountains trickled pleasantly, and strung up lights bathed the evening ambience in a soft, warm glow. Amani smiled when Jasper mentioned a potential stay, "If you find yourself with the time and interest, I'd highly recommend it. It's a nice change of pace— Not to mention it would be a help to the Vonnuvi as well," And by extension, the people they help. Jedi could amplify the ship's humanitarian efforts significantly, and help protect them from any who might see such efforts impeded.

"How is that going, by the way? The Shield Core?" Amani asked.

“Smoking in recycled air?” Cordé chided but gave a small smile to soften the condemnation. “That’s one way to test their filtration system.”

When he looked her way, she was ready. Her expression was placid, unexpectant, but attentive. It seemed amenable enough for him to venture into more of his inner thoughts, speaking from the attacker’s perspective first, and their modus operandi. And how the MO of others forced Jedi to evolve to meet the demands that threatened peace.

“I should have clarified.” She sidestepped a slow-moving civilian, “I meant as either an attractor or a deterrent to danger.

But both, like you said, sounds about right.

One begets the other. History penned after what Solipsis initiated speaks for itself.”

She tapped her chin. “But speaking of militarized threats, let’s re-evaluate where we are. Mental wargame? What could be taken advantage of for the defending parties, and what could be exploited by potential attackers?

The docking bays are easy to enter, the security protocol is pretty standard. Barely looser than something you’d find on Pantolomin. And we got through those initial checkpoints easily enough...although...are you armed, Andrew? Did you get detained or anything?”
