Public The Silver Jedi Concord Technology Expo! [SJC + Friends + Everyone]

m2o0SZa.jpg

The Commenor Arena was alive and buzzing with people.

Stalls were set up in rows, hundreds of them. Each stall were managed by a different company, selling their products and showing off the latest ideas that the CEO's could come up with. People were everywhere, crowding stalls to look at the newest line of technologically advanced sunglasses or ship engines.

The Technology Competition had opened it's entries prior to the event starting. At the front of the arena, the judges were inspecting every entry and choosing their winners, ready to announce them at the end of the event. There were numerous entries, and they were all impressive and submitted by numerous company owners and members.

Credits were changing hands everywhere, technology (of the already available kind and the demonstration kind) was being passed around everywhere and shown off to potential customers. Everyone was buzzing, talking to friends about cool things they had seen a few rows away and everyone was excited.

Welcome one and all to the Silver Jedi Concord Technology Expo!

Go and buy some goodies!

Alor of Clan Gred, Mando'ad'jetii
Booth: Concord Specialized Technologies
On display: K1-series, V-2 Series "Minimech" Astromech, V-1 Series Astromech, V-3 Series Astromech, EX-90, PS-1 Particle Shotgun, PR-1 Ravager Heavy Particle Repeater

Mig leaned back as he looked at the other booths at the expo. The one that was set up for CST was a somewhat interesting mix. There were a few of the droid models that the company made, the V-series and K1-series droids, and two non-firing particle rifles. He wasn't about to be the one to get someone killed by displaying working weapons. Yes, it limited demonstration, but he wasn't risking getting branded with something. Along with him was the lead engineer, Aries, who was proudly checking out his new "baby." A new fighter design called the EX-90. Yeah, no fancy name, but it worked. The V-3 unit there with them would soon grumble a little, getting a chuckled from Mig.

"Come on Vee. It isn't that bad."

Booth: Chase Fashion
On Display: The Advantage of being a clothing store... I can bring the Catalog.
Introducing: Chase Tatgo Portable
On Raffle: Chase X2 LandAir Speeder

Damian didn’t understand why he was here. He had wanted to send Brooke to do this, but various people in his life had insisted he attend in person. Get to know the people buying products or smooze with others at the expo. Yeah, that would be the ticket, plus how many times does an opportunity like this pop up in your backyard? All those arguments had been presented but in the end it was brow beaten into him.

Several clerks and other employee’s were actually manning the booth and retail area of course. Damian was most around as decoration, a bit of eye candy and a talking piece. On the agenda was a few very simple things, sell and entertain.

The booth was simple with racks of clothing, a segmented and isolated changing area for people to try on, tailor on hand should the need arise, and of course in front of the booth was the speeder. An aesthetically pleasing luxury performance LandAir Speeder was on display hovering over a platform. Anyone could come to the raffle and pick up a ticket with the speeder being given to the winner of a random drawing. To one side the portable tattoo was providing people with temporary electro-tattoos and demonstrating the versatility of the device.

“Welcome to Chase Fashion,” Damian said, adjusting his tie.

Booth: Lucerne Personal Defense
Expo Exclusive Item: Phantasm series Solid State Holocaster
Other noticeable items on display: Gundark II-class Power Armor, Adar-class Combat Flightsuit, Neti Field Cloak, Dartfire Variable Charge Blaster Pistol, Firespray Shotgun

The blonde man lurked in the shadows of the booth, letting Tresk Ek'ala and Ariela Captisan finish setting up the last touches to the booth. The bothan fiddled incessantly with the company's latest toy, a solid state holoprojector, which occupied front and center. Various images quickly flashed as the Ek'ala flipped through different programs - an immersive vista of Alderaan flashed to Naboo before giving way to a lightsaber and marksman practicing drill with a hardlight remote. But this only lasted a few seconds before a life-sized Dejarik game appeared which finally gave way to a half dozen individuals on a dance floor gently swaying to low-beat Mid Rim rhythm popular with the adolescent crowds on several hundred worlds. The bothan made a brief high-pitched sound of excitement before ambling onto the holo-graphic dance floor. He took the proferred hand of one of the dancers. The two danced, with the holographic visage of a young female twirling around and gently pushing the bothan away as need. There's actual force behind her movement pushing back on him...and it's noticeable...but is that enough to really sell it?

Ariela emerged from behind one of the Gundark II Power Armors that had been put on display.

"He's not a very good dancer," observed the apparent woman.

"Not terribly so," murmured the man, "but then again, most engineers aren't exactly known for staying in vogue."

The woman slid him one of the Dartfire blaster pistols. The man glanced at it and looked back at her.

"His dancing is so bad, that you want me to kill him now? He's just barely started you know..."

She shot him a wry, knowing glance, "This blaster has been modified to only shoot light on most of its settings. You know, so you can demonstrate both the blaster and the holocaster without accidentally shooting someone or causing an inter-system incident."

"You said most settings. Most."

"Well, the stun settings still work as normal."

"You want me to stun him then?"

She flashed a broad smile.

Booth: G.E. Adventure Inc.
On Display: F14T Series Combat Droid , Exploration Suit
Exclusive Item: 5UC Exploration Rover

The man looked around his booth. His company, G.E. Adventure Inc., was a new and upcoming company. They specialized in exploration gear and vehicles, making it so you can adventure across any planet the Galaxy has to offer. Walking by his exploration suit he straightened the helmet. Someone probably messed with it. Taking the bottom of his shirt he wiped off the visor, removing the fingerprints.

As more people entered his booth he went over to the F14T Droid he had on display. Unfortunately people wouldn't be able to purchase them here. They were only on display. But these droids were going to pretend offered in his shop, so people could place orders and have the, delivered.

Heading over to the center of the booth was where the 5UC Exploration Rover sat. This rover was top of the line, best in it's class. A small group of people gathered around it. Standing up on the small platform he addressed the crowd.

"Hello everyone, and welcome to G.E. Adventure Inc., where we supply you in all your exploration needs."

Booth: Ringovinda Systems
On display: Gurgurant man-portable missile launcher, Chalacta-II anti-matériel rifle, 3t7 tandem charge, Poultryizer molecular shower, Tabord molecular toilet

Even though Jess didn't expect much traffic to come for the weapons, she would probably expect more out of the Poultryizers and the Tabords, which are precious items for shipboard life support that would make food and drink much easier to get by. Now, it's entirely possible people may have skimped on shipboard life support, but she knew spacers would probably have more care about it, so their consumables would last much longer than with non-molecular hygiene appliances. Plus she expected so many to have weapons on display, so she wouldn't emphasize weapons that much. For this reason she knew better than to market weapons, marketing other appliances was for the better.

"With molecular toilets and showers, you will get much more bang for your supplies!"

Booth: N&Z Umbrella Corporation & Subsidiaries, Nargath Holdings section
Central Display: ATLAS Mk I High Efficiency Droid Brain | AI
Other notable Displays: Razor NH-class Starfighter , Dictator II-Class Heavy battlecruiser , NZ-HCR-SSA.350 LM EDITION , NZ ZMDII-P1 Protocol droid

The large booth of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation, divided among the subsidiaries and most notably Nargath Holdings, which is considered to be the father of all the companies that were later taken over byt the massive conglomeration. This booth in itself had quite a few special things to draw in the people which had arrived at the Technology Expo hosted by the newly reformed Silver Jedi Concord, with several Holonet terminals allowing for people to actually browse through the entire catalogue of the company, while at the center of the booth, a shining golden orb levitated above a pedestal which described the product name and specifications of the product on display in great detail...

The Atlas Project, a way for the engineers of the Nargath & Zanareth Umbrella Corporation to further improve upon our notable presence on the market of droid brains and AI. This rather grand and expensive project culminated in the creation of the ATLAS droid core, which utilizes the same Induction data transfer systems as the older ZEUS and ZEUS mk II types, but boasts a much larger processing capacity, a higher capacity for learning and evolution, all the while keeping the sleek package and diminutive form compared to other AI and droid cores of similar capacity.

Why settle for inferior products which need constant updates and numerous anti cyber attack packages and plug ins, when you can pay that little more for a droid core or AI guaranteed to be atthe top of cybersecurity and processing capacity for at least a generation without any additional updates or upgrades to empty your wallet?

This exposition would repeat constantly, making sure that everyone interested in the ATLAS AI would not leave without at the very least knowing what it was all about.

At the left of the central display, there were two holographic displays of both one of the smallest ships built by the company; the NZ Razor NH-Class starfighter and the massive, custom built Dictator II class Battlecruiser, which was the successor to the extremely succesful Dictator I class Battlecruiser line. Each display was adorned with a screen showing specifications, costs and customizations possible, all which being interactive as people could turn and even enlarge the projections to have a better view.

Lastly, at the right of the center display, one could find a NZ-HCR-SSA.350 LM EDITION ballistic rifle, which was the superior version of the HCR-SSA.350 rifle, showcasing its capacity with a screen next to the pedestal which displayed its specifications and live testing of the rifle in various situations.

"Welcome to Nargath Holdings, a part of the N&Z Umbrella Corporation, where your life is our business, "
A protocol droid of the ZMDII-P1 type addressed people passing by in a multitude of languages to showcase its capabilities. "Protect yourself and your nation, travel through space in safety and comfort or simply find yourself the best assistants in our large assortiment of droids and AI. Experience, Excellence and Exemplary, that is the motto of Nargath Holdings."

Aja Shen entered the Technology Expo with a calm, genial smile.

A relatively new member of the Silver Concord, she was eager to learn all she could – and she was looking forward to seeing what their tech expo had to offer. The Jedi were certainly bringing something new to Commenor, and it was nice to see.

Dressed down in a stylish sweater and a prim skirt, she navigated through the entry way. She nodded to a young man as he handed her a flimsi map of the vendors. Well, wasn't that quaint.

The heiress and humanitarian was always on the look-out for new technology that could help her cause. Namely, things that would make the life of resettled refugees all that much easier – and aid items that could be utilized in emergency situations. And she was quite the fan of fashion...

And so, she found herself pausing at Chase Fashion to see what the booth's proprieties had to offer. Aja gave the man ( Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser ) a slight smile as she stepped over to browse the catalog. Her expression was amiable, but impassive, save for an arched brow as she looked up.

“An armored umbrella?” Aja asked, adding a smile. “Well, now I've seen everything.”

The Expo was large, noisy, crowded, and probably a dozen other adjectives that Domino didn't like if she cared enough to list them all out. It also made her feel good to be out and about again. She'd brought Heinkel with her for company and bag-holding, telling the giant of a man she wanted a bodyguard, but she didn't think he really believed her.

Aimlessly wandering the booths and seeing what they had to offer had taken up most of the morning and they each carried a bag of purchases while domino also had a mostly empty backpack slung over a shoulder. They were treating it like a convention, looking for fun and munching on mochi skewers to stave off hunger.

Eventually they came across one displaying an eye-catching hologram of people dancing, even had someone joining in and holding the hologram's hand. She watched for a little, slowly chewing one a rice-cake, but stepped forward as she swallowed it down to look at what had really caught her eye, the clothing hanging along the booth's perimeter.

The armor was impressive, but what had her attention now was a grey flight suit and something that looked a bit like a poncho or angled tarp. It looked so odd sitting on display with the rest of the obviously technological that she wondered if it was more than an employee forgetting themselves and hanging their rain wear in the open.

"Hey, think I could ask some questions about these?" Domino asked one of the people attending the booth while pointing out the items of interest.

Heinkel sighed as he chomped down on a pair of mochi, chewing on two of the small balls together and enjoying the new tastes. He wasn't sure why Miss Domino was interested in this convention. It was way to close to the Core for her usual tastes. Sure they Jedi empire expanded all the way into the unknown regions, and the was practically the Outer Rim, but she hadn't even entered a booth of her own in for him to man.

Instead she'd dragged him along as a 'bodyguard' to carry her purchases. Though, he had to admit, so far she was carrying the majority and he only had his own burdening him. He also carried his great shield slung over his back, his one concession that he might actually be called on to defend someone, he was otherwise unarmed like always. Most expos didn't allow weapons and he didn't want to accidentally hurt someone.

After following his puppy of an employer around from one attraction to another all morning, the latest show had caught her attention. It was an impressive display of holograms and his mind went to how he could use them to spice up his own booth if it was ever to go up again. Intrigued, he followed Domino up to see how his competitors in the boothing field fared.

Booth: Horizon Tech
Special Item: Tips Cuticle and Nail Implants
On Display: EMP Ant Droid, Zanzara Tracking Droid, Tayir Spy Droid

Yula wasn’t really one for advertisement—really, that was more of her mother’s gig. She had the business chops in the family. Yula kept her own brainchild small, preferring to flit between tech that interested her rather than self-promote. That was how things were done in the Outer Rim—work tended to speak for itself.

With Kyra losing an arm and Nida’s disappearance, Yula felt that it was best for her to be closer to home, closer to her family. Her mother had pushed her to participate in the Silver Jedi Technology Exposition on Commenor, making up some excuse or another as to why she couldn’t attend herself.

And so, Yula promoted her cuticle implants—cybernetic enhancements that appeared like typical fingernails, but doubled as a set of knives at your literal fingertips. She’d already installed a pair unto herself, as well as her mother. Seemed like something up Joza’s alley anyhow.

Bored out of her mind, Yula peeked around the expo floor to find a familiar head of blonde hair. Figuring she could abandon her own booth for a hot minute, the Zeltron quickly slinked across the floor to where Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser had set up his own offerings.

“Hey, Uncle Damian! What are you up to?” She always found it strangely ironic that her mother and her uncle ran separate fashion companies. Eyeing the machine on display, there was a note of genuine curiosity in her voice. “What have you got here?” Uncle Damian was making machines now?

Domino Domino 's voice caught the blonde man's attention, pulling his attention from Ariela's commentary on passerby's. The human replica droid had been attempting to deduce various facts based on their appearance and mannerisms, yet she hadn't quite gotten to this twi'lek accompanied by a big burly man who Gir guessed could probably toss him over the next booth over without breaking a sweat. He had expected most people to immediately be drawn to the holograph projector or the power armor, but she appeared to be more interested in some of their less prominently displayed (but perhaps more practical) apparel.

The man strode up to her while Ariela strode over to replace the now sweating bothan from his stint with the dancing holographs. The man briefly glanced at the objects that Domino had gestured to.

"Ah yes, " said the blonde man, "this is our combat flightsuit and our Neti Field Cloak, sort of a general piece of apparel with active camouflage properties. What would you like to know about them?"

"Lets start with the flight suit." She smiled in what she hoped was a charming way. It was her old politician smile that she'd hated for every one of the seemingly endless hours she'd had to practice it for it to come across so effortlessly. "I can see the armoring from here, but what sort of secondary systems does it have? Anything for g-forces? How good is the air supply or does it rely on hookups?" I looked good, but maybe not the best for pilots, Domino was worried about the visor cutting down the field of vision. Maybe something for the hanger crew then?

By his employer's side Heinkel shifted and gave the dancer a critical look as he traded out. Hard holograms were neat, but he wasn't sure what the practicality was. Unless one wanted to sweat and offend the sensitive nosed ones! Perhaps they should have gotten someone more fit to show off this device, someone like this stunning woman now taking over perhaps? Idly he popped the last of the rice balls into his mouth, closing his teeth and lips tight around the stick to clean it as he pulled it free. Looking around again, he didn't see a trash can so the skewer went into his pocket.

Damian has been bored, bored, bored, bored. He wished Kyra was here causing trouble, although he’d never vocalize that thought. Of course it wouldn’t do to look disinterested. He’d answered a few questions and gladhanded a few patrons doing his duty before Aja Shen approached and asked about his umbrella. He’d fought a Sith Lord off with the prototype of that umbrella, after the brutish creature had taken him by surprise while at a business conference.

“The original concept was for a device that could be used to help people protect themselves in dangerous locations. Help prevent hostage taking and all that.” Damian shrugged a bit before looking over at the woman. “I’m afraid it's mostly a novelty item now, people who get them tend to get them as an interesting piece rather than for its designed function.” Extending a hand, “Damian Starchaser, i’d like to extend my apologizes but we started as a men’s fashion store. We of course have unisex products but not many geared a hundred percent towards a female audience.”

That is when Damian spotted Yula who piped up. “Although I have nieces, and they would love to see more pretty things, if you'll excuse me for a moment.”

Leaning down he gave the girl a kiss on the forehead and a little squeeze. “That Yula is an electro-tattoo application machine.” He considered Joza for a minute, how would she react if her daughter came home with an electro-tattoo? Well Yula was a grown woman. “It can apply temporary electro-tattoos as well as permanent,” Damian nodded. There he’d done his duty. “You should go to the Chase Board meetings more often.” It was a half hearted suggested. Damian had gifted the girl a portion of the corporation however he didn’t actually expect her to do work, just collect the income and be financially secure. Still it was admirable that she decided to branch out and work on her own projects. Nida and Kyra had similar deals although Damian worried about both of them for drastically different reasons.

Gir considered the twi'lekk's questions, noting that Domino Domino appeared to mostly be interested in the more pilot-oriented features. He would tailor his answers accordingly. She seemed to take a notice of the suit's small visor for a second, which was probably one of the design's more polarizing features. It certainly could be useful while on the ground, preventing the sun from getting in one's eyes, though some expressed concern about its potential to limit vertical visualability. Gir had been told that it resembled flight helmets from Naboo. He wouldn't be offended if it wasn't to her tastes. He briefly thought over her answers. I'll have to take this one at a time...

"In terms of basic secondary systems, we have a HUD system which can automatically link up to the piloted craft, a bio support dispenser in case the pilot becomes injured or unconscious, magnetic boots, and reasonably comprehensive utility belt. In terms of G-forces, the bio support dispenser can help with that in emergencies especially if you black out, but it's not something particularly designed with it in mind, as the vast majority of modern starships have inertial compensators almost by necessity to deal with this very issue. I'm certain that you can probably find some flight suits designed more with this need in mind using compression cloths and other similar devices, but the Adar's design prioritizes more ease of movement in the lower extremities and long-term comfort, especially for groundside port calls..."

The man pointed at the grill in the front of the helmet.

"There's a rebreather there that can filter atmospheres, even thin ones in the upper atmospheres or the poisonous ones on certain worlds, to provide a steady source of air and to replenish these..."

The man spun the mannequin's base to show the back of the suit.

"Behind this plate back here is a small gas tank with enough volume to store about three hours of air, which is fairly typical for most common flight suits."

Aja gave a small nod at the explanation provided by Damian Starchaser Damian Starchaser . "Aja Shen," she replied, reaching out to shake his hand. Her brows lofted a touch further when he offered her an apology, but she gave an amiable shake of her head to indicate it wasn't needed.

"Of course. Thanks for your time," she said as the man excused himself.

What he didn't know was that Aja was rather familiar with menswear -- she liked browsing the smart suits and dapper accessories. She'd purchased a number of fashionable items in the past, and her heart-dropped slightly with the memory. He doesn't need to you buy things for him now, the thought followed.

Glancing over her shoulder, she saw Mr. Starchaser placing a kiss on a Zeltron woman's forehead. Aja averted her eyes, and busied herself with the catalog -- certainly not meaning to intrude. And she offered the pair a tight smile when she moved to excuse herself and move on to the other booths.

Nodding along, Domino agreed with most of what the sales rep was saying. She liked g-suits just because she'd known a few pilots who'd blacked out during ejections, but there usually wasn't much to do free-floating around in space. The rest of it sounded fairly comprehensive, even if the three hours sounded a little low to her. "Think I'll take one in my size, just to test it out a bit if you don't mind." There wasn't any reason he would that she could see, but she wanted to be polite.

"Now about these, what did you call them, Neti Field Cloaks? Is it like one of the stealth field generators?" Stealth technology was a particular favorite of hers, especially on ships, and she was eager to see how it worked on the ground where a person had to carry all their own gear. How well would her existing knowledge translate?

The booth for Jyoti's tech display was still being erected by biots, so she had some time to peruse the others. There were just so many interesting tech demos that she hardly knew where to begin. However, eventually she settled on a booth ran by N&Z Umbrella attracted by the announcing protocol droid working the front of the booth.

It spouted the usual spiel about its company being the best ever, but she found it notable in the way that it moved, much more nimble than the protocol droid. At best, they could quickly shuffle around, but this droid moved as realistically as a person. She wasn't used to seeing that range of mobility for non combat models. Impressive.

"So it says here..." she started reading aloud from a nearby holo-placard. "That you have a quite robust self projection system. That's definitely a handy feature for a protocol unit. Would you humor me with a display of your mimicry functions?"

As simply another humble Knight of the Silver Order, he hadn't come with anything except his eyes (and meager checkbook) to check out the trade show. There he found a lot of gee wiz future that he'd love to run home with if he could afford it. He left many booths with a longing gaze of shiny new components that would never grace the Moonshine.

As much as he loved his work, unless you were someone like an Ike, it really didn't pay to be a Jedi.

Moving to the next booth, he found it to be run by Ringovinda Systems. It had an interesting mix of military platforms, but also more practical civilian products like a molecular toilet.

A molecular toilet? He scratched the stubble on his chin thinking about it. That was actually a pretty novel idea. The norm for most spacers was a compacter and chemical filters that could be both expensive and burdensome to maintain, so many short haulers just opted to dump their waste rather than go through the trouble of recycling.

Hmm, this could actually be a handy pick up...

"
Excuse me. The concept of this toilet is actually pretty neat, but can ya directly inject waste into the system like a normal molecular furnace without doing the business?"
