DESCRIPTION
The Zanzara droid has one basic purpose; to deliver a solution of nano-trackers into a target’s bloodstream.
Though not quite as small as she was aiming for, the minuscule Zanzara droid is a result of Yula’s budding experimentation with nanotechnology. No larger than the average mosquito, a Zanzara can be programmed to hone in on a specific target, or group of targets. Once making contact with a target, the Zanzara painlessly injects a very small amount of a liquid-based nano-tracking solution into the target’s bloodstream using its sharp proboscis. The Zanzara droid prefers to make this injection directly into the skin, though it can attempt to do so through thick fur and clothing with a reduced rate of success.

The tracking solution is non-toxic and generally causes little to no side effects in most sentients. The most common site is itching at the injection site, very rarely do more noticeable side effects occur such as nausea and fatigue. The tracking solution metabolizes though a target’s system in ~24 hours, and until then a target can be monitored by whatever device the nano-solution is synched with. The tracking solution can generally only be detected if the target is on the same planet, or a nearby world, as the device it is transmitting to. Once it has depleted the injectable solution, the Zanzara droid can then withdraw the equivalent of a drop of blood for basic blood analysis including raw genetic data. This data can be transmitted to the holonet, or whatever device the droid is synced to.

The Zanzara droid can only approach one target at a time; after completing it’s objective, the droid will attempt to return to it’s pre-programmed home base. If it is able to arrive, the droid may have to be re-programmed to approach a new target and replenished with more tracking solution. Alternatively, Zanzara can be used simply to gather a person’s blood sample. The Zanzara can only withdraw and perform analysis on blood, it cannot do anything with tissue, saliva or hair.

In terms of physical form, the Zanzara is fragile and can easy be swatted away or otherwise destroyed by a myriad of obstacles. This droid can only fly so far on its own, so it is best suited for use in urban areas or regions where a target is suspected to be. However, Zanzara can hitch a ride onto organics and vehicles, though they do not often do so in a conscious attempt.
