Invasion The Liberation of Ossus [Republic vs. Sith Empire]

| Iella E`ron |
[OOC: Warning, reinforcements en route.]

Ella extended her hand to a Ysannan and shook it, giving the man a reassuring smile. Now that the agreement had been finalized, they could proceed with their mission and render help to the other Jedi, such as Master Apparine and E'ron; and their new ally in the form of Judas. She looked up to Aika and said, "Shall we go now, master?"

Vulpesen watched in interest as the shield stopped his saber, then in horror as several tentacles moved forward in an attempt to incapacitate him. A normal soldier would have likely fallen, but Vulpesen had been trained in combat since he was old enough to hold a dagger, and his jedi reflexes only made him an even harder opponent to catch. Leaping backwards, Vulpesen bent back to most of the appendages, letting them sail over his head. Unfortunately two of those tendrils managed to wrap aground his legs, midway down his boots. Deactivating his lightsaber to move it past the shield, Vulpesen sliced off the right tendril while using the force to shoot one of his two daggers into the other. He wasn't fast enough to stop all the damage, but he was able to avoid anything more than some nasty burn rings on his legs and a small spasm which halted when the current was cut off. Painful, but nothing he couldn't work past.

"Damn bug." Reaching out with the force, Vulpesen used a telekinetic push to send @[member="JaK"] away from him. As a general rule, one didn't want to get tangled up and close with an opponent who used multiple burning tentacles against them. Still, the shield showed some reliance on tech which gave Vulpesen the knowledge to win this battle. As he formulated a plan, Vulpesen switched to a one handed grip and pulled out his pistol, using the force to help guide his hand as he blasted away at the nuisance.

Aika Kawakami

Can one find true light when shadowed in darkness?
Even with no words, a handshake was as good as a signed agreement. Aika didn't want to stay anywhere the village for too much longer. That, and Ella and Sochi could be of much help on battlefield somewhere else on the planet. She smiled lightly as she gave deep bow to the settlers. With a deep breath she looked to the with her, nodding to them, though her stare sort of lingered on Ella thanks to that 'master' quip. She just couldn't get used to that. "Well, with that done, and our new allies in agreement, shall we take our leave? I'm sure you two would be more than happy to try and lend a hand somewhere other than here."

She gave one final nod to the villagers before turning to head back down the path to their transport. Aika herself wasn't going to participate in the fighting, but there was no reason the others couldn't get some combat experience in. "My apologies, girls. I know this wasn't exactly what you were expecting when you got assigned to this mission with me, but it was something that had to be done. The Jedi needed Ossus back...or the Republic. Maybe even just the Senate pushing the Jedi to move. Who knows where this all came from? But we did our job, so lets move on now. Okay? Next time, we'll get something a bit more exciting. I promise to try, at least. Now, lets see if we can head over t the old academy and lend a hand." Her smile grew a little wider as she chuckled, the troopers following behind them as they headed back down the same path they'd taken. She could only hope the Yassan kept their agreement. They didn't need to completely trust the Jedi. Hell, even Aika was questioning the council. They just needed to trust them more than the Sith, which shouldn't be hard.

The Jedi was quick, he'd give him that, as he evaded his upper strikes by leaning backwards. He wasn't quick enough to evade the strikes to his feet however, with JaK cutting through the man's pant sleeves before one of his tentacles was cut by a lightsaber, with the other having a dagger thrown at it. The dagger however, was not enough to cut through the stun tentacle, which was a unique construction of durasteel that was not only hard, but flexible. Thus on contact the wiry tentacle bent a little, before contorting back to shape and bouncing the dagger off. Without a an extremely sharp dagger, such as a monomolecular blade or a product of a Sith Alchemy, such an attack wouldn't be strong enough to cut through. Unless the Jedi was proficiently skilled in the Jensaari art of ballistakinesis of course, which the droid heavily doubted the Jedi knight possessed. If the droid was incorrect however, 'fate' would have been more than wiling to re-write itself and give a more accurate portrayel of the man's strength.

Thus the bone-breaking and electrifying squeeze continued, until the the Jedi used the Force the push the droid itself back. Seeing as the two were connected it likely would have tripped the man onto his back as he shot pulled out a blaster pistol and began shooting the JK-13 droid. The Xythan Force Shield was strong, and while lightsabers, heavy weaponry, or consistent sustained fire would have brought the sheilds down eventually, a single blaster pistol by itself would have little, if any noticeable effect. To counter the spider-droid extended three tentacles, one coming around to try and wrap up, squeeze, and electrocute the hand of @[member="Vulpesen"] that held a blaster, the other two went around to the left and right of the wrist that held the man's lightsaber. The Dashta Eel knew that he'd lose a tentacle in the process as the man would likely slash left or right, but a spinning maneuver as he had used earlier would have gone through the man's torso, making slashing both of them before they reached their target much, much more difficult without killing oneself. If the droid did manage to wrap the wrists of either of the Jedi's arms the squeezing and electrocution would not have been the only forces acting on the Jedi, as he would also attempt to pull the man's arms away from the center of his body, making aiming the blaster pistol or slashing the lightsaber towards the JK-13 droid impossible.

As the Ella shook hands with one of the tribesmen, Sochi couldn't help but smile, and it was almost simultaneous with the quick uproar that the tribe had let out. It was a good way to rally one another, and it was good they were willing to cooperate. She bowed to show her respects, and look to Ella when she asked whether they were to go now and tend to the battle. Her head moved back to Aika as it was her call. "I'd be happy to lead some of our forces into the battle," she said softly, her index finger held up vertically as she was speaking.

They began to walk back down their original path as they conversed, it would seem Aika was apologizing for the lack of excitement with their mission. Sochi hadn't felt angry about what they had to do, not all parts of war evolved fighting, and she understood that; she preferred that.

"Don't worry Master Aika, it had to be done, and who better than the three of us," she said softly, trying to come across as humorous.

The troopers were quickly following behind them, and they had to make haste. It seemed like they made it back to the transport faster than they had made it to the settlement. That was fine, it usually always seems that way. The doors slid open and she boarded along with a couple of troopers behind her. They were about to head to the main fighting. As she stood patiently she took off her boots. It was a togrutan way, she didn't want to feel disconnected from the land, not one such as this. Besides they felt better this way.

Vulpesen growled as the pain went on for a few more moments. Not his best idea, but he was in a hurry. The fact that his blaster was doing little good didn't fail to escape, him. Diversion tactic anyways. Thoughts were racing inside of Vulpesen's head. Every little fact and detail as being carefully analyzed and stowed into memory as he thought of plans for as many scenarios as possible.

As the tentacles raced towards him, Vulpesen's mind finally brought together the pieces of a plan. Just behind the robobug, he could see something that hadn't been there at the beginning of the day. The stone slab he had used to surf over to Diana's aid. Dropping the gun, Vulpesen's now free hand shot up to twist his lightsaber hilt, separating it at the center which allowed his to slash at the tentacles at each side without the need for a spin. The movement also allowed his pistol hand to dodge the tentacle aimed at it which would likely be cut off just a moment afterwards. Just how many does he have? The final thought crossed Vulpesen's mind just as he called upon the force to do him one small favor. SMASH THIS ANNOYING BUG!

With a lift of one of his hands, Vulpesen beckoned the rock to stand on one end before moving forward in an attempt to body slam @[member="JaK"] who had already been pushed away by the jedi. As one hand moved the stone, the other made a pushing movement to halt any further advance with the force. He was up against an energy sheild. The question was, what happened when the object wasn't made of energy?

The Jedi Knight had, against his calculations, managed to slice both of his his tentacles without slicing himself in half in the process. The attack was not a completely failed effort however, as in the maneuver @[member="Vulpesen"] had ditched the tentacle aiming for his blaster hand. Thus, as he moved the hand JaK-13 exploited the moment of exposure, taking the point of the tentacle and thrusting it into the side of the man inbetween his ribs. If unimpeded, which it should have been as it was a quick thrust that happened at the exact time his other tentacles were being cut, the stun tentacle would have penetrated through his ribs, causing some damage to them as it proceded through the mans torso, missing his heart just south by an inch as it would have gone through other organs and flesh before emerging on the other side of the Jedi's torso. As before, the tentacle was, at contact, putting through a powerful and painful charge to it's surrounding, which would have been all the more painful coming from inside the Jedi rather than out.

While that was going on the tentacle JaK had put in the man's foot was still crunching, though the shock was no longer there, being diverted into the penetrating tentacle. With the strength of JaK's tentacle he'd likely be cutting through bone now, severing the man's foot off immediately above his ankle if allowed to continue.

The Jedi however, again was proving a bit clever. His Xythan Force Shield was what ship manufacturers would call a 'ray shield', only being able to protect the droid from effects such as blaster bolts, lightsabers, lightning, and other such things. Solid objects, such as the large rock coming towards him from behind, wouldn't be affected. If the droids had eyes in the back of his head he would have extended a tentacle to try and cut through the rock, or stop it, but as he had no such visual sensors he merely pressed his attack on the Jedi. If he was in the Jedi's position JaK-13 figured he would have tried to sever the tentacle that was likely inside of him, so JaK took one of his few tentacles remaining that was at full length and curled it around, going to stab Vulpesen just a couple centimeters higher of where his other stab would have left the body. Thus if he severed his left tentacle he would have had the same strike coming in from the other side at the same time, or perhaps it was severing the right tentacle as the left tentacle made the same strike. The writer wasn't quite sure which side the lightsaber and blaster hands were originally.

In any case, as the Spider droid made his stab the boulder closed in, hitting the durasteel droid from behind, causing significant damage to his rear legs and whatever the spider-droid equivalent for buttocks was. Movement, especially backing up, would be difficult. Another strike of the same force in the same place would probably cause huge damage, but JaK had seen the trick once, and probably wouldn't fall for it again. Then again, based on how the electricity, stabbings, and attempts at severing the man's foot JaK didn't guess the Jedi had much time. One way or another, the battle would likely be over soon.

The fireballs impacted Krag's armor, exploding into brilliant sparks of flame before disappearing with only singe marks on Krag's armor to show that they were ever there. Krag stumbled back a few feet, his eyes glowing hot with rage as he drew upon a strong surge of the death and darkness around him. Using the power of the fear, pain, suffering and the near boundless armory of negative emotions around him, Krag took a a deep breath in and spouted yet another cloud of searing flame at the Jedi Master. The flames scorched trees and aimed to burn the Jedi in his tracks.

Meta had waited long enough, Marek had no waken. He would no longer be of use, Meta left him there. Making his way to the open battlefield. He spied a peculiar battle, @[member="JaK"] and @[member="Vulpesen"] fighting it out, it was strange to say the least. Meta grappled to Vulpensens side of the battlefield and ran to his aid, catching up to the two quickly Meta took a defensive stance beside Vulpesen. "In need of assistance?" He asked, turning his head to his fellow jedi.

Vulpesen rolled back as the remainder of his enemy's tentacle continued forward. Having sliced it off only a fraction of a second after the other two, Vulpesen was allowed a bit more time to escape. None less, the appendage continued on to slice a shallow groove into Vulpesen's thigh, eliciting a growl from his throat as he flipped to his feet, stumbling slightly as he retook his feet.

This is embarrassing. What didn't help matters was the padawan coming to his aid. Vulpesen refused to run or take help against some insect. "No. I think this is something for me to handle." Pride was dangerous to a jedi, and Vulpesen was well aware. But, he also wanted something of a reputation and calling for back up at a time like this would not give the kind of rep he wanted. @[member="Meta "]might have had good intentions, but Vulpesen hadn't fallen so far as to call for assistance against something the size of his foot.

Taking a ready stance, Vulpesen glared at his smaller opponent, calling once again upon the rock to attack his opponent. Having seen that little or nothing was done to get out, Vulpesen simply pulled on the rock, aiming to roll over his opponent and grind him into the ground. Vulpesen was injured, but nothing was seriously injured and he would keep on fighting until one of them was either dead, or that thing surrendered. Running would be humiliating. At least if he died, he wouldn't need to deal with the humiliation.

"Um, okay." Meta said, backing off and falling into the battle. Meta could feel his adrenaline running off, all his pain returned to his body. His eyes flickered, he stumbled and his saber fell from his hand, burners skin, dead nerves and a lot of blood loss. This wasn't good, Meta fell back and landed on his behind. Everything began to blur, he reached for his saber. But could not feel his arm, sluggishly, he rolled over cover away from the line of fire, a stray blaster bolt hitting his leg as he crawled, he rolled up into a ball, pain surging through his body. But, he couldn't give in. They had not won, not yet anyway. Meta pushed as hard as he could, however as soon as he was halfway to his feet, danger lurked all around him. A trooper fell to the ground, an active grenade in his hand, Meta pulled up his gauntlets in defence, however he was thrown back into a walk. Knocking him unconscious and out of site. Meta lay still, the battle was over for him. His body crumpled he lay still, blood seeping from his forehead.

The tree that Josh was standing on burst into flames as Krag's attack impacted it. Quickly, Josh leaped from that tree to another, aided by the Force. He pulled a frontflip in mid-air, meant to confuse Krag as he went through the air...

He landed on his feet on a branch. Quickly, he started leaping from branch to branch on the tree, trying to get higher up.... He needed his blasted lightsaber, but where WAS it?

Ah.... He could sense it now. He was high enough that he could just barely make it out.... Wait, that was Krag's lightsaber. Just under the burning remains of a stump.

Wait! There it was! Just within reach for him to bring to him....

He reached out an arm.... His lightsaber, which was stuck under the charred remains of a fallen tree, shook a few times before getting free and flying into his hands...

Krag saw that Jedi glance to the burning stump and that's when his own, reptilian eye caught the glimmer of his lightsaber under the trunk. Krag growled with pleasure as he charged forward and scooped up the lightsaber in his massive claws. When the saber had been returned to his hand, Krag turned his attention back to Joshua who had just reclaimed his own saber from the underbrush. With eyes of yellow fire, Krag charged up another pulse of dragon's breath and spewed the fiery attack at the trunk of the tree, burning through it instantly and causing it to start falling down.

The tree was falling down.... Josh was running out of options. Quickly, he noticed something.... A boulder, a rather large one at that, caught in a load of vines, suspended in the air. Josh quickly leaped from the collapsing tree, landing on top of the boulder.

Problem was now, he was a sitting duck. What did he do now? Jump into the waiting arms of Krag, while he was fully prepared for him? Or sit here and get pelted with fireballs like a karking pinata?

"Wait...." he muttered, looking up at the vines. He had an idea.

Quickly, he activated his lightsaber. Slashing through some of the vines, the blue blade made quick work of them. Suddenly, something started to shake under him... The boulder was coming loose.

He sliced a few more... And suddenly it came free. But the boulder was still loosely suspended in the air.... And it was moving.... Fast... Hanging by the vines, and barreling toward Krag.... With Josh still on it.

As he felt the wind at his face as the boulder went at blinding breakneck speeds, all Josh could muster was...

"WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE"

CRACK

Crack was right. Crack was the sound that was made as the boulder collided head on with Krag, sending the large Graug flying into a tree.

I CAME IN LIKE A WREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAKINNNNNNNNNNNNG BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

As the boulder came toward a tree branch, Josh grabbed the branch. Using it as leverage to leap onto the branch, the boulder went flying away from him, before finally snapping the vines and rolling away, down a hill and starting to head toward what was left of the Great Jedi Library....

Meanwhile, Josh let out a war scream as he leaped off, slashing his saber in mid-air, trying to bring it down on Krag's shoulder, and possibly even sever it. Whether he hit, or if Krag blocked it, Josh would land on the ground and roll out of the way.... Clearing space between them to give them each a second of breathing room.

Kaine's sudden change in his momentum twisted his body to the side, the speed of his body further increased by Darc's sonic attack that threw his body past Iella. He rolled across the ground, barely managing to right himself in a crouching position, his hate-filled stare analyzing the enemies arrayed before him, and his increasingly slim chances of achieving a victory over their combined strength. If Darc had chosen not to interfere, Kaine and Mikhail could have taken them all on with an iota of the difficulty they have faced so far. His eyes fixated on Darc, and with a heavy sigh he gave forth a nod of acceptance. It was then that the Ethereal Slaves reappeared once more, them having sat on the sidelines while Kaine took to the battle himself, and rushed to engage the Jedi while the rest created a thick sheet of cover for the Emperor to retreat.

As much as he hated to fall back in such a manner, he knew that there was no clear way to achieve victory. Better to fall back and regain your full strength for the future battles, than foolishly through your life away in the face of such suicidal odds. "Enjoy your hollow victory..." Kaine then disappeared into the darkness of what remained of the treeline.

As the battle receded, Darc stood as the winds blew through his tattered armour. He took note of the Emperor's subtle response and offered the same nod in return. The emerald blade disengaged and the ancient turned away from the battlefield. The Republic had won this day.

Again, Krag was thrown through the air as the Jedi Master struck him like A WRECKING BAAAAALLLLLLLL. His body tore though another tree and he soon found himself looking up at the sky. Groaning and standing up, Krag did not see Joshua jump until the last possible second. The beast was able to block the devastating blow from Joshua, his ash0like blade hissing as it connected with that of the Jedi Master's. As the Jedi Master rolled to safety, Krag roared again and moved in quickly to catch Joshua off-guard with his Djem So style. Lifting the blade high above his head, Krag brought the saber down in a furious hammer strike that was aimed to bisect the Jedi Master straight down the middle.

Quickly, the Jedi Master switched to Makashi, holding up his blade to block the slash. Elbowing Krag's ribs to get some distance, Josh went for multiple slashes, once to his right shoulder, a second down low on his side, and a third going horizontally through him, trying to cut through his abdomen.

Whether Krag blocked them or not, Josh would quickly switch to Ataru, using the Force to suddenly leap through the air, slashing at Krag rapidly as he went up, as he soared above him, and as he went down behind Krag, still swinging viciously. No matter how many Krag blocked, it would be a spectacular quick lightshow that would be a spectacle for anyone to watch.

As soon as he landed on his feet, Josh would reach into the Force again, using it to backflip out of the reach of Krag's lightsaber. Quickly, he would toss two fireballs toward Krag in an effort to get him off guard.

Before Daella’s lightsaber could reach @[member="Kaine Zambrano"], the Emperor tumbled away due to @[member="Darc Xavior Talus"]’s attack. She took a step toward the Emperor and gripped her lightsaber tightly. Yet, Ethereal Slaves seemed to materialized before the Jedi and attacked the group.

One Ethereal Slave charged for Daella. In response, she stepped forth and slashed at its neck. She let loose a quick yell of, “Huaah!

The Ethereal Slave was defeated and subsequently disappeared.

By that time, the Emperor escaped from the immediate area. Imperial forces seemed recede away from Daella and those that surrounded her. She fell to one knee and deactivated her lightsaber. She still held the hilt in her right hand.

After a small hiss of pain, Daella covered her right cheek with her left hand as the battle raging around her began to wind down.

@[member="Meta"]

As the battle subsided around her, the Sith having fled .. Iella looked around to see that although everyone was badly injured and fatigued they would be alright, at least physically. She remaining connected to the force and sensing her fellow Jedi in the area, she felt the pain of one Jedi who had been wounded and in need of help.

She let the force guide her to him and soon located Meta, laying unconscious and bleeding. She placed her hand on him and pushed energy into him, giving him a much needed boost to fight his wounds. Opening her comlink to the Republic Combat Medical Unit, she ordered a team to come to their location. They arrived soon and began to work on him .. giving him a stim injection and placing him on a gravsled to take him to the medical ship. Soon he would have all the help required to heal.
