Populate The Chasm of Resistance [THR Populate of Frego]

Y61rqWq.png

The Sith Covenant's attention is momentarily pulled away from the Core, as their formidable sector fleets are re-deployed closer to Humbarine to cut off the Iron Covenant's sudden incursion. A rare blind spot has opened over Alderaan. Seizing this window where patrol fleets are absent from the border, the High Republic has moved and initiated a deployment to establish a permanent resistance hub. Their destination is Crevasse City, a breathtaking urban marvel built entirely downward into a massive, plunging canyon. Long celebrated as one of the wonders of the galaxy for its architectural blend with the natural rock, the city's subterranean design and lack of a traditional spaceport now serve a tactical purpose, shielding the growing rebellion from covert Sith operatives, compromised corporatists, and traitorous nobles who hold sway on the surface.

While there is no overt Sith occupation of the planet at this stage, the growing influence of Covenant spies and aligned aristocracy has forced loyalist Alderaanians from every continent to flee their homes, seeking sanctuary after seeing the writing on the wall. War was coming to Alderaan.

Deep within this underground haven, Republic political leaders, high-ranking military strategists, and a contingent of Jedi Order Council Members have established a secret command post. Knowing that the Covenant's fleets will eventually return once the border crisis settles, the early pioneers of this rebellion are digging in for a brutal, long-term war of attrition to systematically secure the planet from internal betrayal and eventual war.

Deep within Crevasse City's subterranean chambers, Republic leadership must gather at a secure roundtable to determine the strategic direction of the Alderaanian rebellion. Representatives from the Senate, the Republic Military, and the Jedi Order must parse through competing planetary priorities while analyzing a flickering holographic map of the local sectors.

While the Senate had previously voted to prioritize the liberation of Alderaan, several military strategists still argue that the attention of the Republic should be put elsewhere. They pointed out that the Sith in the Deep Core were currently occupied, meaning it might be more prudent to strike at the Sith forces attacking them along the vulnerable Black Wall border, with more recent attacks coming from Moorja and New Cov.

Critical decisions had to be made at this roundtable to effectively free the galaxy from the spreading plague of war.

While the leadership debates strategy in the lower chambers, Republic Military and Jedi must secure and expand their influence across all levels of the crevasse. This objective requires a multi-layered defensive and humanitarian effort to prepare the city for the inevitable Sith discovery.
  • Surface Perimeter: Establish fortified watchpoints and stealth-camouflaged scanning arrays along the upper rim of the canyon to monitor the surrounding plains for incoming Covenant patrols.
  • Wilderness Deterrents: Deploy localized traps, heavy mines, and automated defense turrets throughout the dense wilderness flanking the crevasse edge to funnel potential ground attackers into easily defendable choke points.
  • Humanitarian Escort: Coordinate hidden paths and guidance beacons through the rugged terrain to safely usher groups of fleeing Alderaanian refugees past corporate checkpoints and down into the lower city levels.

Engine exhaust shrieked across the Alderaanian plains. Dozens of High Republic corvettes and heavy frigates sat nose-to-tail along the upper plateau. Work crews swarmed the landing zones, lowering pallets of heavy munitions and survival rations from open cargo bays. The Sith fleets were distracted at Humbarine, but that window wouldn't stay open forever.

Lieutenant Era Vos watched the chaotic choreography of the staging ground with a grin. Under her command, a squad of engineering specialists was busy securing modular defense components onto a transport. They were headed for the treeline where the open plains collapsed into the dense mountain wilderness. Their mission was to erect a perimeter shield array capable of masking the subterranean city below from orbital scans and orbital bombardment.

"Keep those power cells centered," Era called out, her voice cutting through the thrum of idling thrusters. She stepped up to a young private who was struggling with a heavy plasma coupling, taking the weight from his hands. "If this shifts en route, we're blowing a fuse before we even reach the border. Pack it tight."

That fierce, stubborn grit kept the team moving despite the biting wind. Once the last crate was locked down, she waved her crew into the transport's cramped cabin and climbed into the pilot's seat.

Console lights flared to life in a sequential cascade of amber and blue. Standard operating procedures dictated a slow, cautious liftoff. Era gripped the flight sticks. "Hold onto your breakfast," Era muttered, glancing back at her team through the cockpit partition.

A heavy thud echoed through the chassis as the transport broke gravity. Nose dipping toward the dark expanse of the forest, the ship surged forward. The relative safety of the Republic fleet faded behind them, replaced by the shadow of the wilderness where the real work began.

Objective 1 : Strategy meeting - En route

For the Senator of Atzerri, the journey to this clandestine meeting place had proven beneficial in two respects. First, it had given her ample time to review dossiers on those expected to attend a gathering that would undoubtedly influence the next course of action. Second, it had allowed Ravessa to come to terms with her new role as Atzerri's representative in the Galactic Senate.

With a quiet sigh, she tossed the datapad onto the seat beside her, Ravessa was accompanied by a small contingent of House Gallio's personal guard, a precaution that had become increasingly common since her election. Traveling off-world carried risks, and both House Gallio and her security detail were determined not to leave anything to chance.

"Coming down for a landing, Madam Gallio," a voice announced over the shuttle's comm system.

As the shuttle settled onto the landing pad, Ravessa rose from her seat and made her way toward the exit. She smoothed the front of her fitted black attire, ensuring every detail remained immaculate. Beside her stood a taller figure clad in the distinctive armor of the Gallio Guard Captain Kaelen Voss, her personal bodyguard and one of the most trusted protectors in House Gallio's service.

Inclining her head slightly toward him, she offered a composed smile.
"Onward to the meeting, Captain."

Without another word, the Senator of Atzerri stepped forward as the shuttle doors began to open.

ABOARD THE VIGILANT REAPER
Connel just sat quietly and put on his mask, the sleek visored piece of technology clicked into place and his mental ritual began.

You will feel no remorse for those who would show none to you.
You will feel no fear beyond the fear of failing those behind you.
You will seek no reward beyond mission success.
You will feel no pain until death.
You are not wrath.
You are not vengeance.
You are the Light’s wraith.
Crevasse City is located in a canyon. It has no spaceport, but public transportation linked the city with Aldera, which handles all the city's space traffic. The city boasts creature comforts of all kinds, including restaurants, bars and parks, and by reputation has the best hotels on the planet. It holds the seat of the House of Metara noble family..
The surface of Crevasse City receives no more than six hours of sunlight a day, and the city streets and hallways are filled with artificial lighting built into the architecture in various artistic and clever forms. The colors of the lights take on unique meanings: white for death and mourning, blue for happiness, green for love, silver for prosperity, and orange for danger or warning.
Hidden in a far corner of the city lay its industrial section. Crevasse City is powered by geothermal power plants. It is also the home of one of Alderaan's only mining operations and the Crevasse City Collegium for Young Ladies.

What does this have to do with anything? Look to the sky.
The Vigilant Reaper was flying relatively low and fast as it approached Crevasse City, its engines humming with a controlled aggression that cut through the thin canyon air. The ship’s stealth systems were active, rendering it a ghost against the backdrop of the artificial lights below, a silent predator descending upon its nest. Suddenly 1… 2… 3… 4… 5… 6 individual spots were plummeting through the air, a steep dive into the heart of the city.

Weapons? Very much so, but not the kind you might expect.

No, this was Omega Squad. Elite Soldiers, each one a weapon in their own right. The galaxy may have forgotten them, but Crevasse City didn’t, Alderaan didn’t. They were the ghosts of a war long past that never truly ended. One by one chutes opened and their descent slowed, the city lights blanketing their black armor but creating little more than a silhouette against the night sky. Their landing was as silent as their approach, with an unnerving precision their boots hitting the rooftops with little more than a whisper. They didn’t need to speak, their comms were active but silent. They knew what they had to do and where they needed to be.

The blue lights proving the be a strong assistance in their camouflage, the squad moved with urgency, their dark silhouettes blending seamlessly into the shadows of the city’s towering structures. The air was thick with the scent of sweet smells and arid excess, and it needed to stay that way.

Gathering in a small alley, they formed a tight circle as their leader, Lt. Command Bren Alazar “Michael” checked his gear one last time, all of them had done the same. This was it, the moment they were preparing for all of this time. They were going to plant the seeds of rebellion. The one preparing the deepest was Connel Vanagor “Ariel” to the team. He was the one with the most to lose personally. In the days of the New Jedi Order, he grew up here on Alderaan, Connel was the last Warder of Alderaan before it was taken over by the Empire. Jedi are supposed to be the guardians of peace and justice, he was, but they were supposed to be detached, that wasn’t happening. Not today.

Let the others worry about what was “right” and what was “wrong”. He had a job to do and people to protect, even if they would never know it was him, or the rest of the team. That was their lot in life, they “don’t exist”, ghosts. This time they were going to split up, at least for the moment. The team were going to embed and start working on the surface perimeter, training locals willing to fight for their freedom, this was not the smartest move for those militants but it was noble and that would be enough for now.

Conne’s mission was different. He was going deeper, out into the belly of the beast and he was doing it alone, he needed to. Connel was moving out into the Wilderness, setting traps, not simply for footsoldiers but for Sith. They were highly intelligent and often on their toes, they would not fall for simple traps, they would need to be complex, layered and most importantly, they would need to be personal.

Subterranean living held absolutely zero appeal. Stripped of sunlight and open skies, the Alderaanians looked exactly like what they were... Creatures crawling out of a cave. While the architecture carved straight into the canyon rock lacked personal flair, the tactical defense of the plunging gorge remained undeniable.

Gazing across the flickering holographic roundtable, Aurelian picked out a mix of familiar and fresh faces. The Republic's rapid expansion felt clumsy, leaving the Great Houses under constant siege by this Sith Covenant. Tapani had fallen first, and now Alderaan stood on the precipice.

Priorities seemed obvious. The Senate had voted, the populace had agreed, and Alderaan remained too powerful a symbol to abandon. Rooting out the local spies and securing this foothold would allow a concentrated push to liberate the Core. Those Sith forces lingering behind the Black Wall could rot for all he cared. If he managed to spearhead this specific campaign, the political glory would look positively radiant to the other Houses.

"Chancellor, if I may speak," Aurelian began, his voice cutting through the strategic murmurs. A smile played on his lips, fully aware that Dominique knew he would speak regardless of permission. "We must commit every resource here, on Alderaan. Core refugees arrive in vast numbers daily. It is high time we liberate their homes and give these poor Jedi their holy world of Tython back."

Relocating the Jedi mystics as far from Naboo as humanly possible would be an exquisite bonus. If this campaign succeeded, perhaps the entire Republic apparatus could be shifted away from his home system. Naboo required stability, fewer galactic burdens, and absolutely zero Sith.

This wasn't a warzone. Dominique regarded the holo projection with a subdued curl to the corners of her lips. A map of Alderaan. A world under siege by political machinations of the Sith Covenant. People whose allegiances were bought, their willingness to knee for power on display, and a world that'd charmed its way into the hearts and minds of the Senate now hung in the balance. In war such a display meant something. Tangible forces. Placements. But in an invisible war... numbers, charts, and tables were the vehicles for battle. Dominique wondered how many Senators, aside from those eager to mimic these poor souls within the Republic proper, knew how to fight that kind of war. The Five Veil Trade Route said, 'not many.'

Yet there they stood. Those willing to indulge in a less grandiose battle for control.

Her golden rings slid over to Aurelian Veruna Aurelian Veruna as the King begged permission to speak. A slight lift of the eyebrows. An open handed gesture for him to continue.

Tython? Dominique fixed her stance in place as she regarded the man in the wake of his suggestion. The Core? Ambitious. Symbolic. People could be rallied toward such a cause there was no doubt. It would stall the Eastern advance of the Sith as a whole. Was Aurelian so confident the Sith would not wage a similarly symbolic assault from the West? They bolstered their forces for such a day -- one never knew what a Sith Empire might do -- but was he truly prepared? Not that they had to invade and hold the Core. Symbolic gestures could always be drawn out. Dominique was concerned the Senate was not one known for patience, however, once an idea came to them. Well, that was a complex matter of sculpting the shape of things the Chancellor would do elsewhere. Not here and now.

"This Republic did not cross into Imperial Confederation space to rescue one man without reason. We shall not stand for our own being subjugated. It is not merely enshrined in our Charter, but demanded to deter our enemies from advancing where and whenever they wish." Dominique's gaze slowly swept over the crowd to gauge their reaction. "The people of Alderaan are our people, and we protect our own."

Whatever tomorrow held, Dominique knew what was needed today: Alderaan's future.

Ayumi was listening to them all and she was saddened the Organas weren't here but she had committed and sent the veil of denon to the world to help them out and it was built for actions like this as she looked across the table. "We have the assets we sent in the cloaked fleet. We can use some locator beacons to find where Gram Arranda set them." Well the supplies granted, the ships they had contact with and would be able to use where needed. "The ships would have moved as the situation evolved unless asked to help evacuate people to Denon." She was looking at it and then at Dominique with a small look. "We could set them up to transport those evacuating the core."
