From her home in an Echani Enclave on Kiribi, Jyoti followed along the discussion via holo call, projecting her body onto an empty seat within the hall. For the moment, she was currently on hiatus from Silver Order following the defeat of the Bryn'adul, focusing on her family, but she found it important to chime in on this particular discussion as the design and layout of the Silver Rest had been the brain child of herself and
Valae Heavenshield
.
She agreed with the general sentiment of improvement, but she was definitely in the camp of pursuing a more modest approach. Much blood and sweat had been poured into carving out a new home for the Silver Jedi in the mountains after their retreat from Voss. From this very base, the Silver Jedi had started again from nothing to the greatest extent in their relatively long history on the galactic stage.
Needless to say, she hated the idea of tearing everything down on account of one loon.
"If I may," she finally spoke up. "We may be getting a little too hasty thinking about ripping up everything for one uniquely insane case. For decades, as they are, the defenses of the Silver Rest have stood the test of time, withstanding the most withering assaults from our fiercest enemies, including the
Sith Empire at its apex while this complex was less than a year old. The location high in the mountains provides a naturally defensible location. We have our own planetary grade shield and a series of other dedicated secondary barriers and defensive emplacements for every major structure on campus."
"There are already
supposed to be dedicated temple guards and security droids patrolling the grounds at all times. In addition, the mountain base that overlooks the Rest can house an entire Corps worth of soldiers and weather the heaviest orbital bombardment. There should also be scanners and checkpoints maintained to help police restricted areas. In cyberspace, we have our own dedicated
AGI unit."
"I could go on, but the short of it is that the immediate defenses of the Silver Rest, with proper manpower and maintenance, should be sufficient for conventional threats. With some modest tweaking to address current developments, though I'm sure the likes of Sasori and Lucerne Labs are well up to that particular task." She glanced over at Matsu and Gir, offering a small smile to each.
"Knight Undari makes a good point about our forces being too concentrated. So, this gives us the appearance that we may be lacking. As it concerns Kashyyyk, we should spread out our forces to secondary garrisons and fortifications throughout the mountain range and surrounding forests, creating new defensive lines to push out our envelope, or entrap our enemies in interlocking fields of fire if they're foolish enough to strike the Rest directly. We need to do the same for our Wookiee friends and the other settlers in the cities. In fact, I'd recommend that we start
actively patrolling the Shadowlands moving forward. For too long, we've allowed our enemies to use it as a literal breeding ground. The Tarentatek, in particular, are an invasive species that are getting out of control. There have also been reports of feral biots from previous invasions becoming a growing issue."
She turned to Master Vanagor.
"If the rest of the Council agrees, you should oversee the training of the next generation of Temple Guards as one of our leading Battle Masters. Their training and techniques need to evolve with the times. We also require a new unit with a focus on anti-terrorism to deal with the likes of House Io. Playing passive never works with her lot - they must be hunted down like the vermin that they are, or they will fester like the Tarentatek here. I will come for Laertia myself if that's required."
Jyoti regretted not taking out the deranged woman when she had the chance. However, back then she still considered Laertia a Silver that could be brought back from the edge.
Any lingering sympathy she still felt in the following years had been immediately extinguished the day she learned of the attack on the Rest.
Laertia was worse than the Sith, worse than the Bryn'adul.
She was a traitor.
