Private Shadow Practice to Practical Application

(Currently in training gear instead of usual clothing)

The sound of effort came from within the deeper secretive section of Silver Rest. The Shadow's played in the underbelly of the temple. Isolated from the majority of their fellow jedi with selective access rather than dark and mysterious winding tunnels. They weren't entirely unknown in one sense. But their business was kept to a solid need to know only most times.

The blond Jedi Shadow and Mistryl agent was carefully practicing in an offshoot room, dummy targets with scarred surfaces had been pushed along the farthest wall in lieu of a solid projectile target as she practiced throwing Zenji Needles for a rest period. She was already breathing harder than she wanted to be, a mix of whip practice and using the pair of shoto sabers against the stationary targets while sprinkling in force powers.

It took an alarming amount of concentration that she wasn't entirely used to. Having lazily been accepting more benign tasks than outright dangerous ones of late.

The last needle found home in the target, slightly left of the center mark as she huffed and paused to examine the target. Two in the center of the small bullseye. One just on the edge of the center, and the final nearing the second ring. She wasn't pleased by the deviation, walking over to her bag and dabbing at her face.

Even lacking her normal clothing for training gear, everything was still irritating on her skin. Paired with the motion of bending forward that made her head scream in pain, she was very near to cleaning up and calling it a day. She crouched to relieve some of the tension that had formed, pilfering through the bag for medicine and snagging her water before quietly pondering when the last time she had taken it was.

"Ahk, feth. Have I even ate yet? What time is it?" She snapped to herself, putting the simple pain relievers back in the bottle and rifling through her gear a bit more. She wasn't hiding her tumultuous force presence at the moment, the lively but chaotic energy of her presence filling the halls with ease. The Encoil augmentation was also plainly visible along her spine and seemed a bit dinged up.

Following the battle on Jedha, Valery had recovered from her injuries, reworked and largely redesigned her personal gear and now finally was ready to head back into action. She was often traveling between the front lines with the Maw, and the borders with old Sith Empire space, the latter of which always made her return to the Silver Rest. For her current assignment, she was going to be heading for Odacer-Faustin, so she decided to spend one night at Silver Rest before heading out.
With everything prepared, Valery began her walk towards her ship but as she passed through hallways and open terrain of the Temple grounds, she sensed something that piqued her interest. It was incredibly early in the morning, so it was highly uncommon for Jedi to be training. Yet, she sensed the tumultuous presence of another in the direction of the Shadow training room.
There was no real rush for her to be heading out already, so she decided to check on whoever was up at this time. It could just be an early bird, but for all she knew it was a struggling young Jedi who couldn't sleep. Walking down the hallways to approach the room, she allowed her own Force presence to flourish around her - she wasn't one to hide herself when surrounded by other Jedi on safe grounds.
Stepping into the training room with a lightsaber attached to each hip, she stopped only when she spotted Phalsi Drynchen Phalsi Drynchen digging through her gear and various belongings. She tilted her head lightly and cleared her throat in attempt to draw the woman's attention.
"Good morning." Valery said, her tone calm and clear.
Hoping to have drawn Phalsi's attention, Valery walked over and looked around the training room. She hadn't been inside here much herself, except for the few times she stayed at Silver Rest for larger amounts of time.
"You're up rather early for training." the Jedi Master said with a faint, but kind smile on her face.

Even with Valery projecting her force presence, Phalsi did not sense her approach. The woman's steps however did catch her attention long before she had come close enough for the force to make itself known. Phalsi hadn't addressed her when she entered, instead opting to peruse her bag further until the woman cleared her throat.

Her hand paused pilfering through the bag as she twisted to address the woman and giving her a quick up down look before giving her a smile in kind.

"Morning." Was the amiable reply as she grinned at the woman with a small shrug. She grabbed out a drink and unscrewed the cap while she stood.

"Seemed the best time. Gives me time to clean up." She explained glancing at the small mess of a target to the far end. It lingered there for only a moment before looking back to the woman with an inquizative tilt to her head.

"Phalsi Drynchen. Don't believe we've met. Then again, being down here-" She gestured to the secluded shadow training area before shrugging."-I suppose that makes sense." She gave a snort of a laugh as she took a draw of water and capped the jug.

"Come in for practice or heading out?" She gestured to the dual lightsabers the woman had on her hips with a growing smirk. The tingle of mischief in the force emminating from Phalsi as it's origin. She wasn't keeping a rein on her presence, being one of the few places she actually let her control over it slip.

Valery briefly glanced over at the target while Phalsi explained the reason behind her morning training. She smirked and nodded in response before the woman introduced herself. "A pleasure to meet you, I'm Master Valery Noble," she said, using her rank to introduce herself. It was something she had gotten used to from her training, and while many Jedi she met these days didn't do the same, she couldn't easily stop herself.
The brunette then glanced around briefly, taking note of everything within the training room, as well as the thoughts Phalsi betrayed with the way her Force presence felt.
The question that the woman asked clearly hinted at an interest in practicing together, and Valery had no real rush to head out already. So with a faint smirk of her own, she stepped further into the training room.
"I'll be heading out soon for an assignment, but some practice to warm up and get the heart pumping never hurts. If you still have some energy left, I wouldn't mind a practice partner."
Valery grinned and removed both lightsabers from her belt so she could set them to a lower power mode. As much as training needed to be hard at times, this safety measure was typically a good idea. She then clipped one of the two weapons back to her belt and ignited the remaining one.
A purple blade flashed into existence, after which the brunette looked over at Phalsi, her expression inviting her to join her in the center of the room to begin.
"Ready?"

There was a rise to her brow as introductions included rank.

"Well met, Master Noble. Knight Drynchen." There was still the prickle of mishief in her tone as she spoke, cocking her head to the side at the invitation.

"I don't run myself into the ground like some do thankfully. I've got a bit left to spar. Static targets aren't really good practice anyway." Came the soft nodding reply as she crouched and placed the drink in it's place.

Stealing a glance backwards, she noted the woman altering both but only drawing one of her sabers. Her eyes narrowed at the choice and pulled three hilts from her bag. A solid black handle with a single button to be seen as she messed with one end, softly screwing something down on it before pinching it and clipping it on the backside of her belt.

Then came the two shoto sabers, both being turned down before mimicking the other woman with clipping one and wielding one.

"I have to admit I'm fair bad at lightsaber dueling. But don't go easy. I need the practice and hard to come by willing partners against even a soft saber." Even the Mistryl Shadows of Emberlene shied away from sparring against the weapon. Though they could and had shown their ease at disarming a person of their choice weapon.

A detail didn't escape her notice as she twirled the hilt in her hand, enjoying the rasping hollow sound of the blade slicing the air.

"Need to know or-" She cut herself short by producing a more aggressive stance and making a soft charge forward, presenting a broad and telegraphed swing from the side to begin a slow warmup.

"-Would you mind some help?" Finishing her question, she prepared to deflect an incoming strike, keeping her feet squarely set shoulder width apart and attacking hand with the hilt firmly held.

Valery smirked at the woman and watched her closely as she prepared from some practice, "I'll do my best not to disappoint," she said before she took a deep breath. She rolled her shoulders, placed her right foot forward, and angled her right shoulder towards the other Shadow.
The brunette's mind cleared and instead, it began to connect with the Force so she could more calmly and precisely read the flow of combat. So when Phalsi began her charge forward, she would be able to respond in time despite the lack of a warm-up. Picking up on the broad swing, Valery raised the tip of her blade and briefly transitioned into a two-handed grip, bringing the blade on the inside of the horizontal arc.
She hoped to catch the blade and flashed a brief smirk, "Help is appreciated." she said.
Then without holding back too much in speed and elegance, she stepped forward with the leading right foot while the rear foot remained in place. Her left hand withdrew from the hilt, allowing her greater reach as she thrust the tip of the blade forward, aimed directly at the torso of the woman.
While Makashi wasn't always her preferred form to use, she often switched to it when her opponents began with wider sweeps. Its precision and elegance would be rather tricky to deal with.
Following the step and thrust forward, Valery's foot withdrew and she'd begin a step-slide in retreat, led by the rear foot taking a step backward while the leading foot followed with a quick and elegant slide. As much as it was important to close distance to swiftly and precisely strike, it was also crucial to retain distance when a counter-attack could come.
All-in-all, Valery hoped to quickly put her opponent to the test a little - exactly as requested.

"You're a Master, I don't believe you will dissapoint." She chuckled to the woman in kind. The rebuttal of her initial strike was met with an inside block, catching the strike. Valery shifted forward, leading into her space with a step before switching to an attack as the tip of her saber came forward. There was a smile on her face as the attack came forward.

"Guess we'll discuss some details then." She replied quickly, rotating her wrist as the swinging arm pulled tight to her chest to attempt the deflection of the strike. Her left foot stepping back and narrowing her side profile as her shoulder fell into line with each other. The master stepped backwards with a slide before Phalsi leaned in and pulled the saber hilt into her left shoulder to mimic the strike Valery had aimed at her.

She dropped low, rolling her hand to the side as the point came in from a low angle and up towards her opponents stomach in a less than elegant stab.

Phali's smile as the fight began was met with a smirk from Valery, who was now easing into the flow of the spar. Her muscles adjusted quickly and her mind sharpened as her initial counter-attack was deflected. From the way her sparring partner adjusted her stance and countered, Valery quickly got the feeling that the contention form was about to show its elegance.
"Gladly," she said in response.
To keep the almost dance-like fight going, Valery stepped back in retreat again, this time synchronized with Phalsi advancing forward. It was a method to control the distance, and hopefully lure the opponent into overextending, which would allow her to retaliate far more easily. But whether that happened or not, her intent was to counter-attack and keep the pressure on.
Following the step back, Valery pivoted slightly on her leading foot while her body shifted to the outside of the incoming blade. With a quick flick of her wrist, she pushed against the side of the blade and attempted to force it outwards, now allowing Valery to move again.
With quick steps, she moved down the hopefully exposed flank and aimed to land a quick shiim against the woman's thigh. As much as this strike was meant to land, it was also a bit of a test. The woman's skills had piqued Valery's interest, so she wanted to see more.
"Show me what you got."

The flow was quick, mind racing as it guessed the woman's next move. Possibilities were endless as she flicked Phalsi's blade aside and danced inward toward her. Even on the training setting, the blades still stung. Something she kept in mind as the woman played for a strike at her thigh.

Phalsi wasn't nearly as graceful as Valery in her movements. A sharp sidestep that had her wincing when her left foot touched the ground on her second step as the anchor. A sharp reminder of a previous injury as she drew her right hand close to the chest in a twist.

Her own blade met the incoming, but only barely. Fairly certain she still felt the heat of the blade, her own would try push the other wide before sliding down to strike at the hilt and hand of the other as she led with her right foot. Her step forward would bring her back inside the others bubble, attempting to control the distance in her own way.
