In order to give Hekler'Kok a new lease on life and to try and bring more people into the slugthrower market the company looked into various products that could do this. After a few months of research they finally settled on polymer-cased ammunition produce in a massive number of different calibers.
Like any Hekler'Kok design they started with the materials needed to produce the product first. The biggest concern was the type of polymer used but after some debate they settled on a rather simple heat resistant polymer that would stand up to the heat produced by a slugthrower. Initially the entire cartridge was polymer but during testing the polymer cartridge rim would often bend upon extraction and jam and was replaced with a simple durasteel rim. The designers went with Occam's Razor for the gunpowder and primer and went with your standard slugthrower materials. Finally they decided, after some lengthy debate, that the bullets would be a standard jacketed bullet with a durasteel jacket and lead core.
