NAME: Keter Mason.

FACTION: Unaffiliated.

RANK: Retired.

SPECIES: Human, cyborg.

AGE: 47.

SEX: Male.

HEIGHT: 6' 2"

WEIGHT: 210lbs.

EYES: Red cybernetics.

HAIR: Blond, streaked with grey.

SKIN: Caucasian.

FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes.

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES (Required: 2 Weaknesses Minimum) :
  • "Sanity is Overrated": Having had his mind broken at a young age to better mould him into a Sith, Keter embraced narrative rather than power as a way to cope. As such, his world view is based on a sense of morality and ethics that only makes sense to him - making him somewhat unpredicable.
  • "Been There, Done That": Nearly four decades of wandering the galaxy and working for nearly every major side in the past conflicts has left Keter experienced in a variety of fields, such as flying, saber combat, logistics, infiltration, archeology, strategy, cooking, cleaning, child rearing, acting etc.

  • "Battered and Bruised": A life of (mis)adventure, starship crashes, alchemical experimentation and all round mayhem has left Keter somewhat broken in his later years. He is far from being in a good physical condition.
  • "Stand Alone, Die Alone": Having always sought to be self-reliant following his Sith training, Keter never truly managed to 'get' people, becoming isolated after what few connections he did manage to make followed their own path and left him behind.
  • "Rejection of Superstition": Keter holds no mystical view of the Force, and as such it's deeper mysteries and powers forever remain beyond his comprehension.
  • "Self Taught": Keter has never really had a proper formal education, having to fill in whatever gaps in his knowledge by himself. For some reason, he has always ended up with neglectful teachers, resulting in an erratic collection of skills and talents, and whilst he has a grounded understanding in many skills, against someone with actual training he will fall short.
APPEARANCE:
Keter is a man past his prime, but not quite out of the running. Though he is still somewhat in shape, a life of hardship has taken its tool, and he moves much slower and less recklessly. He is covered with scars, a legacy of a wild life, and the cybernetics keeping him from going blind are worn and chipped with age - but they still work. His short blond hair has finally started going grey, and his clothing remains practical and worn - very much like himself.

BIOGRAPHY:
Born to a poor family on Nal Hutta, Keter was a happy child. Though it was difficult to be happy growing up in a place like Hutta, Keter managed it. He enjoyed reading and writing, enjoying old literary classics and comedies, often quoting them at great length to amuse the other children in his neighborhood. He always came across as mature to any adults he ran across, and impossibly immature to any other children he crossed paths with.

He never showed any outward signs of force sensitivity, yet his potential was sensed by a Sith passing through the area on some dark errand or another. With a potential recruit suddenly presented to them, the Sith moved quickly. Two days later bounty hunters stormed Keter's home and killed his parents, horribly scarring the boy and tearing out his eyes. The Sith arrived as a concerned witness and spirited the boy away, and cared for him, nurturing his desire for revenge. Utilizing his contacts on Hutta the Sith managed to grant the boy a set of cybernetic eyes, giving him far superior vision to anything he ever had before.

Having regained his strength under the care of the Sith, Keter began learning from him, about the harsh life the galaxy promised him, the truth regarding darkness and light. In the ten years they shared Keter learned how to sense the force on a rudimentary level, how to wield a sword and then training saber (his tutor was wary of giving him access to a proper lightsaber until he developed his force power further), how to pilot a starship, how to hunt certain individuals – all skills he would need in hunting down the bounty hunters who had taken his family from him, and eventually their employer.

On the eve of his twentieth birthday, the Sith granted Keter an old Fury class interceptor, from when the Sith Empire had been ascendant in the galaxy. With it he would be able to go out and hunt down those who had killed his family. Keter eagerly accepted the gift and set out into the galaxy to find those who had ruined his life. The Sith remained on Hutta, at least as far as Keter was aware. Yet on the starship Keter located an old lightsaber, one he claimed as his own, and he began to slowly train with it, honing what little force powers he had.

His travels ended up taking him all over the galaxy - first to the Sith, so that he could complete his training and be recognised. Yet despite proving himself capable, his mentor never bothered to teach him anything, leaving Keter to study the ways of the Sith on his own - and with his single minded focus on the practical skills, he completely ignored anything to do with philosophy. This would come to be a recurring theme in Keter's life. As the Sith pushed their agenda's throughout the galaxy, Keter followed, curious and slowly being cuaght up in the great galactic drama unfolding before him. Slowly, the urge to avenge his family dimmed, as he was confronted with a vast array of characters who would stnad against him and beside him, purely because he called himself Sith.

And then he met Feena.

A most curious Jedi who did not react with outright hostility to him, and who he treated with curtesy in turn. She became his first true friend, and almost a decade later, after clashing several times with sabers and words, his wife. During this time, he walked away from the Sith, and even worked alongside the Jedi for a little while, though he was never truly welcome in the Order. Instead he became a free agent, free of demands of any of the greater powers in the galaxy. And life was good.

He travelled, he experienced, and in time, he settled down with Feena and had a family, though it was far from happy. Feena was obsessed with her work, maintining galactic peace, and Keter did what he could to raise his daughters. But he just wasn't suited for it. So when Feena finally died, the family fell apart and Keter left, heading for the stars to wander and find some purpose again.
