- Energy Neutralizer - The FAE/A-12 maintains a fairly robust suite of defenses against energy weapons, featuring gammaplast-integrum armor pieces, armorweave, energy sinks, miniaturized shield projectors derived from shield suit technology and other protective systems. Accordingly, the FAE/A-12 is a strong platform for the Empire’s Army Troopers in defending them against the most common weapons on the modern battlefield.
- Liquid Armor - The FAE/A-12 has a strong capacity for defending the wearer against kinetic weaponry. The combination of hard armor pieces, miniaturized shield projectors, and a shear thickening fluid underlayer makes the armor very effective in mitigating kinetic force and penetration, affording the wearer a good degree of protection against kinetic attacks.
- Scream of Defiance - The FAE/A-12's integrated sound dampening overlay gives the armor the ability to mitigate the deleterious effects of sonic weaponry.
- Storm Dancer - Owing to its combat de-ionizers and faraday cage mesh construction, the FAE/A-12 is hardened against Ion and EMP-based assaults, allowing it to maintain a degree of robustness under conditions of interference which might otherwise disable much of the armor's electronics.
- Camouflage and Distortion - The FAE/A-12 features a camouflage system which primarily functions to distort the armor's visual profile via camouflage, making it that much more difficult for an enemy to acquire the wearer as a target.
- Weaponized Radiation - The FAE/A-12 is capable of protecting its wearer from background radiation in an environment, it does a poor job at protecting its wearer from weaponized radiation, due to it being far more concentrated than radiation in an environment or a vacuum.
- Mechanical Mutation - The FAE/A-12 has a not-insignificant amount of advanced technology and automation integrated into its design. As such, if left unprotected, a skilled practitioner of Mechu-deru could feasibly disable these systems and compromise the armor’s functions, in terms of offense, defense, and utility.
- Bone Chill - The FAE/A-12 will maintain the wearer’s body temperature (and comfort) in cold environments quite well. Unfortunately, the armor’s ability to defend against cold-based weapons leaves much to be desired. Users are generally better off relying on other means to defend against this class of weapon.
- Acerbic Affliction - While the armor holds up fairly well against blasters and slugthrowers, corrosive and acid weapons present a much larger problem in that they can eat through the protective material rather quickly, with the potential to inflict harm on the wearer in the process.
- Tensor - While the FAE/A-12 is optimized to mitigate damage from most forms of energy-based assaults, tensor weapons represent an exception. The compressed tractor beam waves discharged by these weapons can bypass the armor's defenses and affect the wearer's body at a cellular level, with the potential to cause grievous harm or death.
The humble Army Trooper is often considered to be the invisible, unappreciated backbone of Imperial powers across the galaxy. For the most part, this characterization is quite applicable to the Empire of the Lost as well, which is known for deploying Army Troopers as both an expendable cannon fodder vanguard force and reserve troops—a dichotomy that is often as practical as it is jarring. However, in both use cases, there is generally very little invested in the individual Army Trooper.
In this regard, the FAE/A-12 Imperial Army Trooper Combat Armor stands to challenge this paradigm. With the rapid growth and development of the Empire, resources were invested into the Imperial Army and the Imperial Volunteer Corps. And so, the Empire contracted First United Astral Engineering—the company which developed its stormtrooper armor—to design an Army Trooper Armor. Given its reliable, uniform design, the FAE/A-12 armor also finds frequent use from vehicle commanders, ISB agents, and various other personnel in the Imperial military, as well.
While the FAE/A-12 is somewhat stripped down from its stormtrooper counterpart, it is nevertheless a robust platform that is designed to optimize the lethality and survival of the average soldier. In this, the FAE/A-12 is hoped to represent the transformation of the Imperial Army into a more competent, professional branch, capable of supplementing, rather than slowing down their stormtrooper and clone trooper counterparts.
