  • Unlimited Range: Since the FAE/74-Z utilizes air-breathing ion turbines, it draws its reaction mass directly from the surrounding atmosphere, granting effectively unlimited operational range in standard planetary environments. Free from fuel logistics or supply-line constraints, allowing the bike to maintain long, high-speed patrols for hours or even days. This allows relentless patrol area coverage without ever having to return to base for refueling or resupply.
  • Velocity Overmatch: With the FAE/S-17 eliminating 98% virtually all aerodynamic drag, the twin ion turbines can propel the FAE/74-Z to a sustained 1,500 km/h base speed, with a 2,000 km/h afterburner burst. This extreme velocity allows the bike to outpace and outmaneuver any standard ground-repulsorcraft, consistently dictating engagement distances and closing on enemy light vehicles before they can react.
  • Perfect Stability: The FAE/S-17 ensures perfectly laminar airflow across the bike’s exposed twin-outrigger frame, even during afterburner sprints. This eliminates buffeting, vibration, and control-surface flutter. As a result, the underslung armament remains a remarkably stable, surgical platform during high-speed strafing runs, allowing the pilot to execute precise firing solutions without ever having to slow down or break cover.
  • Dazzling Danger Dancer: The FAE/S-17 grants the FAE/74-Z an unprecedented tactical edge by virtually eliminating the aerodynamic penalties of aggressive maneuvering. Unlike standard repulsorcraft that sacrifice momentum during sharp turns or rapid reversals, the FAE/74-Z can execute seamless pivot turns, instantaneous lateral slides, and post-stall directional changes with minimal velocity loss. This allows the pilot to effortlessly outmaneuver hostile light craft while maintaining full combat speed and engagement pressure.
  • Low Profile: The FAE/74-Z has coatings on its fairing which effectively lower the craft’s sensor profile, making it harder to register and lock onto at range owing to a small sensor profile. While this does not grant true sensor invisibility, it gives pilots a longer window to close distances or break targeting locks.
  • Electromagnetic Warrior: With its ECM and EPM, the FAE/74-Z is capable of exerting significant influence on the electromagnetic environment in almost any given battlespace. It can disrupt enemy targeting solutions while enhancing its own, pierce through concerted jamming, and execute yet more feats.
WEAKNESSES
  • Thin-Atmosphere Operational Radius: Even with the FAE/S-17’s pressor-field intake-boost and drag negation, the FAE/74-Z’s air-breathing ion turbines remain critically dependent on the emergency compressed gas canisters in low-density environments. With a maximum combat-safe range of only 400 to 800 kilometers before reserves are depleted, the bike has limited range in thin atmospheres. Pilots must strictly adhere to strict return-flight fuel budgets or risk thruster failure mid-mission.
  • Exposed: The gravitic stabilizer and the field disruption system can not function while the FAE/74-Z’s combat-rated shields are active.
  • Automation: The FAE/74-Z is supported by a suite of automated processes which govern its targeting systems, power systems, flight control systems, and yet more. In the event that these systems are somehow disabled, whether via EMP/Ion discharge, concentrated slicing, or in rare cases, jamming, the operating efficiency of the craft will be negatively affected.
  • Fragile Chassis: The FAE/74-Z retains the ancient 74-Z’s notoriously lightweight, stripped-down twin-outrigger frame. While the bike’s fairing is constructed from Ersteel SLCA, the design provides minimal meaningful armor protection to the rider, who will be left exposed in the event that the shields are disabled. Its survivability relies on outrunning and outmaneuvering threats, not enduring them.
DESCRIPTION
An advanced, ultra-modernized version of the Clone Wars and Galactic Civil War-era 74-Z Speeder Bike, the FAE/74-Z Advanced Interceptor Speeder Bike was designed roughly 900 years later by First United Astral Engineering. Like its ancient predecessor, the FAE/74-Z is designed chiefly as a combat reconnaissance vehicle, with additional capabilities in area-denial, deep-penetration, pursuit, and interdiction.

The FAE/74-Z takes full advantage of many of First United Astral Engineering systems. The most notable of these is the FAE/S-17 Active Airflow Management System, which virtually negates drag and ensures a perfect laminar airflow around the bike for stable handling at speed. This system also gives the bike virtually unprecedented maneuvering capabilities, making the FAE/74-Z incredibly lethal in speeder bike or light repulsorcraft dogfights.

The FAE/74-Z enjoys excellent tactical and strategic mobility. Pertaining to both, the air-breathing ion turbines and the ultra-high-output FAE/G-01 Hypermatter Synthesis Engine allow for indefinite range in a standard atmosphere. The bike can hold long, high-speed patrols or cross-continent (and even cross-oceanic) journeys, often being more limited by the rider’s endurance.

In all, the FAE/74-Z Advanced Interceptor Speeder Bike is hoped to give Imperial remnants an ultra-lethal, ultra-fast multi-role combat reconnaissance platform, allowing Imperial speeder bike pilots to enjoy significant advantages over their opposition.
