Intent: Creating a base component for future submissions.

Development Thread: N/A

Manufacturer: Kiriban Systems Armory (Original Designer), Sasori Research and Design

Model: N/A

Affiliation: Open Market

Modularity: No

Production: Mass Production

Material: Sleg, Diatium, Reinforced Duraplast, Internal Components

Strengths:

+Extreme energy efficiency in comparison to standard power cells and capacitors.

Weaknesses:

-Ultracapacitors overloaded with energy are prone to exploding or catching fire. This can be mitigated with a system to deal with power surges, such as deionizers or cap drains but the risk still remains.

Description:

After Sasori ran into issues with the development of its dark energy reactor design, KSA was contacted to provide technical assistance on completing the project. KSA had experience with dark energy, having long completed research to determine its usefulness as an energy source or weapon. Ultimately, KSA concluded that it wasn’t worth the effort to tap into the latent energy source, then continued focusing on improving its own line of anti-matter reactors. However, curious Kiribian researchers looked into Sasori’s Praestigiae Ginnregin project to see if Sasori had made any breakthroughs to justify renewed development on their end.

In a pleasant surprise, they were introduced to sleg, a substance with the amazing property to naturally recycle energy over many cycles before requiring another charge. They found that when meshed with an energy dense material like diatium, that they could create a whole new class of ultra efficient capacitors that would allow greater performance in devices (e.g. shields lasting longer before a need to recharge capacitor banks) and/or miniaturization with minimal loss in power.

[member="Jorus Merrill"] Edits made. I made it clear that users can take steps to reduce chances of an overload event, but that won't do anything to stop the capacitor from having a meltdown once it reaches that point.
