Once, they were two people, but thanks to their failed experiment they died a long-long time ago, and in their death, their souls were merged. They can’t become one with the Force, they are trapped in this world like the Ruusan’s force spirits. They can’t jump to a new body to possess it, they had to wait millennia for someone to find the place where they were.
Thanks to the waiting they learned patience. Ireria is who is more patient, frigid and cold. Benûwia is more passionate and careerist than her sister. She is who wants power; she also plays out of the shadows, while Ireria is only in the background.
Both of her are good shadow players, with a lot of experience behind her.
Their new host/body is a clawdite, so “they” can change their look and their clothes as well. She always changes her appearance, depending on which personality of the sisters is more dominant at the moment.
When Benûwia is the dominant she uses her original look, pureblood sith with long red hair and dark side eyes.
When Ireria is the dominant she uses a blue skin female voss’s body, without hair, and orange eyes. She always wears blue cloth and hood, so no one can see her eyes.
When the sisters are in balance, she is a human female, with blond hair and dark side eyes. In this state she called herself to Darth Xanesh.
Their height is always the same and their weight is the same, no matter which shape they use. She always uses shadow hologram to change her cloth depending on which personality is dominant.

Though they could not add physical mass to their bodies, they were able to form hair, and could actually make it quite long. Clawdites were also able to mimic the appearance of clothing or jewelry, provided that the item laid directly on their skin, as it was merely a manipulation of their skin's texture. They could not change the appearance of their actual clothing, and had to rely on holographic technology in order to change such items.

Benûwia and Ireria Antares were born during the time of the Old Republic and the old Sith Empire, as pure-blooded Sith twins. Although they were twins, there was never a strong bond between them, both of them were interested in each other, life swept them elsewhere. They both attended the academy at Korriban at a very young age. Here they learned what it is like to be a real Sith. They both survived these years, and both of them became apprentices. They were placed in two separate spheres, Benûiwa into the Sphere of Mysteries, Ireria in turn into the Sphere of Ancient Knowledge.
Over the years, both of them became sorcerers. Ireria was mainly interested in ancient cultures and archeology, she has always been attracted to ancient things. In contrast, Benuwia wanted to gather as much power and knowledge as possible and she pretty much succeeded. They both passed their trials and they became Sith knights. Benûiwa killed her master, meanwhile Ireria became a lover – later wife – of his master / former master. They both gained the title of knight a few months apart anyway. Even if they had no strong bond, they acted similar in a lot of things. But even so, they did not meet again for a very long time. Until an unusual thing happened, their father called them, none of them kept in touch with her family, which is why it was strange.
They travel to their birth place, where their father tried to kill them, and he tried to possess one of his daughter's bodies. They killed their father, and that was the point where Benûwia began to be interested in immortality at any cost. After many years, she was now in touch with her sister as well, using Ireria’s knowledge since she knew the rakata, gree and kwa cultures as well as the ancient sith. She hoped they would find something else, just like their Emperor, Vitiate. But they were not thinking in the devouring of planets, they tried to find alternate ways. Something that is less spectacular and noticeable. Thus they came to reincarnation in their descendants. They both embarked on decades of research in their respective fields, while the world they knew collapsed with the final death of Vitiate too.
They kept in touch over the decades, they both had an extensive family, they trained disciples, they were sometimes killed when they broke into their lives, when they tried to kill them to thus fulfill their test, so they lived the daily life of the Sith. Ireria loved to stay in the background/shadows so she became the owner of more modest titles, but Benûwia became a member of the Dark Council for many years. When they were old, they thought they found the way to immortality. They kept their young ages thanks to the life drain, but both know they can’t keep their lives forever, without jumping a new body. They began their planned ritual, but something went wrong. They never knew what was bothering them; a huge explosion ended their lives.
The ritual went astray, their bodies fully destroyed by the explosions, and their souls merged into a single soul. No one was nearby, so their souls could not jump into a new body, and the new soul is not become one with the Force, it’s trapped in the living world, just like the Ruusanian force ghost/spirits. They spent the next circa 4,500 years alone now in one soul, waiting for someone to find them and returned to life. This happened in ABY 860, a clawedite found their graves, the ruins where Benûwia and Ireria, or Darth Xanesh – the name of what the new soul chose herself – waited. She seized the opportunity and possessed the child's body, destroying the soul to remain only within the body.
In the next few days, using the child's memories, she soon sensed a shape-shifting, and then the hunger and thirst also lured her out of her former grave. Because she didn't know much - nothing - about the new world she had resurrected to, maybe it's not too surprising that she was arrested very soon, Now Xanesh waited in an imperial prison for interrogation and finally for information.

Although Xanesh did not know anyone in the present where she had resurrected, she very soon managed to make influential people acquaintances. First of all, this was helped a lot by the fact that it was the emperor,

, who she was the first to talk to, and although the man was a Sith, Xanesh found him definitely a sympathetic and charismatic man. As she rejoined the Sith Empire, she set out to find allies and connections.

She quickly established relationships within the Group and also established / acquired two companies. One is an educational and archaeological one and the other is a purely scientific one which also deals with alchemy and sorcery.
