Skirmish Dark Force Rising | The Fresian Incursion

Final Dawn Central Command

Dark_Force_Rising_-_The_Fresian_Incursion.jpg

The Alliance has grown complacent, overconfident in their belief that the Maw will be defeated, that their victory is inevitable. This misconception has made them overconfident, and more bold in their attacks against the Maw, believing that their Era of Reclamation is unstoppable. Now it is time to remind them that the Maw is far from being defeated and that we are still a force to be reckoned with. We shall strike fast and strike hard, and in one single-blow we will shatter their hubris once and for all, and set the stage for our eventual resurgence. Glory to the Final Dawn” - High Regent Marlon Sularen of the Final Dawn

SUMMARY

After the Maw’s defeats at Empress Teta and Metellos, morale is high within the Galactic Alliance as more and more people have taken up arms against the Brotherhood of the Maw, while the Maw itself is slowly fragmenting, ravaged by constant defeats on the battlefield and infighting between the the various subgroups of the Maw. However in the face of these setbacks one man is determined to truly change the tides of war and ensure the ultimate victory of the Brotherhood of the Maw in spite of these recent setbacks.

In order to test the resolve of his increasingly overconfident foes, and the combat effectiveness of his newly-replenished forces, High Regent Marlon Sularen of the Final Dawn has given orders for a major strike to be carried out against the world of Fresia, a planet right outside the Corridor. Home to Large starship manufacturing facilities operated by Incom-Freitek-Koensayr Incorporated located it’s surface, Fresia has become a crucial part of the Alliance’s War Machine, thus making it a target of the High Regent’s ambitions.

Despite anticipated heavy resistance from Fresia’s primary line of defense, the GADF Army Garrison and Starfighter Base known as Joint Defense Base Coromon, the Final Dawn descends on Fresia in full force assisted by Mercenaries and Hired Guns, with the intent of destroying both the GADF Base and the planet’s vital infrastructure. Should the Final Dawn succeed, it will not only be able to deal a major blow to the Alliance’s War Machine but would also prove itself to be able to operate independently on without the aid of any other subgroup of the Maw, contrary to the beliefs held by many Mawite Warlords, further advancing the agenda of the High Regent and setting the stage for his future plans.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES

Silent_but_Deadly.jpg

Underneath GADF Base on Fresia lies the base’s reactors which in turn are hardwired to a shield generator which protects the entire base and nearby manufacturing facilities from sustained orbital bombardment. Thus a joint task force composed of Final Dawn operatives and hired Mercenaries shall be tasked in infiltrating the base and destroying the base's reactor from within. Heavy resistance should be expected as the base is guarded by considerable concentration of soldiers and defense turrets. Failure however is out of the question as in order for this operation to succeed, both the reactor and shield generator must be destroyed at any cost.” - Marlon Sularen

Death_from_Above.jpg

In order to keep the GADF distracted while the special task force infiltrates JDB Coromon, a naval task force comprised of both Final Dawn naval units and Allied Mercenary flotillas will move in to clear the space around Fresia from any hostile forces to prevent the GADF from further reinforcing JDF Coromon and keep their attention away from the base altogether. It is expected that the GADF will put up serious opposition to our naval incursion so caution is advised when we will inevitably be facing their fleets once they arrive especially considering the GADFs tendency to overcommit their forces in battles against their foes” - Marlon Sularen

Objective: Defend the Home Front
Equipment: Blackwolf (Launchers 1&2 loaded with Intruder Missiles, Ventral Launcher loaded with Proton Torpedoes)
Allies: GA, R9-K4 "Keeper",
Enemies: Final Dawn/Maw
Commanding: 4x Squadrons of 8 T-65XN "Wolf-X" fighters each (Nemesis, Challenger, Watchman and Guardian Squadrons)
Ari leaned over the ready-room desk as she overlooked the maintenance reports for her squadron. Two Laser cannons, a set of power converters, and an entire engine manifold had been replaced in just the last month. She wasn't going to complain too much but if they didn't get at least galactic month off, she was going to be putting in for replacement fighters for some of her squadronmates. She started to type in the requisition orders for next month's supply run when a priority message started to pop up on her datapad. Now what the -

By the time the message could open, alarms started to ring out throughout the base. For frak's sake- Throwing her helmet onto her head haphazardly, pulled up the top half of her flightsuit, which had been tied around her waist, and began to button up, taking another look at her datapad every few steps to make sure she had enough information about what they were flying into. It seemed the Maw had set up a fleet to raid the space surrounding Fresia and were potentially trying to deploy ground forces to raid the manufactories here. Allowing that would be an unacceptable loss. To make matters worse, Ari's Wing leader - the officer she reported to when the special missions wing was deployed en bulk - was on leave and his XO was in the infirmary. Now She had 24 more fighters to command and much more weight of responsibility on her hands.

Pulling her harnesses and life support controls on with the swiftness of someone that'd done it a million times before, She brought the pilots into a huddle. Keeper and the other astromechs had already been given their flash-briefings and were loading up into their X-wings. She had to make this short, simple, and Brief.

"Now listen up! I know some of you aren't my normal wingmates so I'm going to keep it short and simple. A hostile fleet of warships has been detected entering the system - we're not certain what the size or composition of their force is but trajectories and transponders match what would be expected from the Maw. We'll be the first up - keep tight with your elements and watch each other's backs out there - Flight and Squad leads will brief you once we're in the air. Fight well up there, and come back home alive."

Fastening the chinstrap on her helmet, Ari climbed up her X-wing and into the pilot's seat, firing up the engines and repulsorlift immediately. Running only the most barebones of preflight checks, hers was the first fighter to leave the hangar and was already several hundred feet above the base when she finally dropped and sealed the canopy. Watching her sensors as the base's deflector shield started to raise, she sought a small moment of peace in the deepening blue of the sky as she flew into battle.

FINAL DAWN
FRESIA , CORE WORLDS
POV : VICE-ADMIRAL SHALL TIDE

TASK FORCE MOMIN
Fleet Composition :

In orbit of Fresia, a single large triangular shaped warship emerged from hyperspace joining a fleet of three Supremacy-Class Mark-I Star Destroyers that had already arrived in the system earlier. Fresh from Raptor Base this warship was the FDS Oppressor, the lead ship of a new class of next-generation Battlecarriers designed specifically to counter the Galactic Alliance's Courageous-Class Star Destroyer which itself was meant to spearhead their Era of Reclamation. Now it would see action for the first time at Fresia, spearheading the naval operation to secure the space above Fresia as the raid would be carried out.

In command of the FDS Oppressor and it's accompanying Task Force , was Vice-Admiral Shall Tide who had been given the task of overseeing the raid and ensuring it's success. Already the rest of Tide's Task Force had arrived in the system and were moving into position to set up a blockade over Fresia in preparation for the arrival of anticipated GADF Reinforcements. As his crew were going over their usual operation, the Vice-Admiral stood at the front of the bridge gazing upon the world down below from behind the viewport of one of the bridges of his Flagship. "Status Report." Tide inquired. "All ships are standing-by, however our scans have detected a localized shield generator protecting both the Alliance Starfighter Base and nearby Manufacturing Facilities from any orbital bombardment." an officer said in response

"Just as we expected. Has the 99th arrived yet?" the Admiral said in reference to the Final Dawn-aligned
99th Rancor Mercenary Fleet. "No signs of the 99th just yet, although we should expect them arrive soon enough." another officer added. "Good. Move the task force position to prevent anyone from escaping and have all ships on the lookout for potential GADF Reinforcements. Let's hope our Operatives and the Mercenaries we hired will be able to take down in time." the Admiral proclaimed. "The High Regent is counting on us." he finished.

1st Rancor Auxiliary Squadron
Fleet Composition:

RNS Throne of Credits [100 | 100]
RNS Tenloss [100 | 100]
RNS Nal Hutta [100 | 100]
RNS Fromm [100 | 100]

The soft glow of hyperspace would dim considerably as the 1st Rancor Auxiliary Squadron from the 99th Rancor Fleet emerged over Fresia to support the Final Dawn in their operation to secure the Space above the planet and prevent the Galactic Alliance from breaking through the blockade. Leading this small squadron was a considerably larger variant of the Lucrehulk-Class Battleship dubbed the "RNS Toborro" after the ancient Supreme Mogul of the Hutt Cartel. Being supported by four Milvayne-Class Heavy Destroyers as they moved slowly into the system from beyond the outer edges.

Leading this Auxiliary Squadron was Iermin Gorensla Botana otherwise known as Iermin the Hutt. Although he was being supported by a
Super Tactical Droid named "Vermid" who would actually be running the naval operations while he lounged around on the throne within the bridge of the Lucrehulk. Iermin didn't want to overly commit his mercenary fleet to the battle because of the Galactic Alliance's superior military strength compared to his own. But he would provide enough support for the Final Dawn in the following Skirmish. The small steps of the Super Tactical Droid could be heard approaching his throne. Prompting a look in his direction.

"Your Eminence, The Final Dawn is holding their position over the world. We suspect that they are waiting for our arrival before they begin their assault" : Vermid said holding a datapad within his hand. "I expected nothing less from the Final Dawn. Hail them and inform them that we are ready to provide support wherever needed." Iermin responded leaning on the arm rest of his throne. Bringing a cup of boga noga towards his maw. "As you wish." Was the reply back as the Tactical Droid hailed the communication's officer to transmit a message to the Final Dawn Task Force.

Once the Final Dawn received the message, the battle would likely begin.

Starship: Flatwell Cloaked Carrier Cruiser (Slaved)
Currently: In Drop Pod
Status: Being Dropped

A loud SHUNK of the drop pods being launched out would ring in his ears. It was a very long time since he was even close to doing something like this again. The thrusters shot them forward harshly, not stopping. They were almost on the other side of the conflict, the whole goal to mitigate or at least, provide all the damage they could. Seven more followed from behind, it was a small operation but what they carried payload wise, would be enough to blow more than a few holes in a base of operations.

And that is what he planned on doing.

After a few minutes, he felt a loud THUNK as it landed on the ground heavily. The G-Force was thankfully dispersed, whatnot due to the strong body of armor he was now in. Flicking a few switches, the vehicle started to turn to life.

The large machine roared to life, others were landing nearby with their own creations given from the once great Court of Blades. As they moved, so did the Scout Troopers "COB" Serpentine, each step echoing on the land as they started to move in a job. All of them were fast, all of them were armed with missiles...worse...they were all armed with Seismic Missiles. They intended to level that place to the ground, even if it means causing all the attention on themselves.

Fresian Star System, Bel Riose

The ship shuddered as it exited out of Hyperspace, behind it the forms of the rest of the flotilla also came into view. From the bridge of his flagship, the Bel Riose gazed out at the Fresian star system, his eyes hard and determined. The Maw had struck again, and his job was to protect the innocent civilians who called this place home.

"All ships, this is Rear Admiral Bel Riose. We have exited hyperspace and are preparing to engage the enemy. All crew, man your stations and prepare for battle."

The flagship crew sprang into action, running to their posts and preparing for the fight. The fighter pilots climbed into their cockpits, engines spooling up as they readied themselves for launch.

"All fighters, this is Fighter Command. You are cleared for launch. Good hunting, pilots."

The fighters roared out of the hangars, engines leaving fiery trails behind them as they raced toward the enemy.

The mass of 32 Wolf-Xs behind Ari broke out into a loose formation as they broke the atmosphere and took their place in front of the new carrier squadrons that had just come to reinforce them. "Incoming Alliance ships. This is Major Naldax commanding the expeditionary squadrons of Joint Base Coromon. Request you focus on the Lucrehulk's fleet. Repeat: Request you Focus on the Lucrehulk. We've got a rancor bone to pick with those Maw ships." Each of the four squadrons broke off into an attack formation on one of the four maw ships - Challenger engaging the Despoiler, Watchman engaging the Titan, and Guardian engaging the Nemisis.

"Nemesis Squadron on me, we're taking on the big guy." Flicking her radio and IFF transceivers to receive only, she watched as the 8 fighters of Nemesis Squadron shot forward, locking their X-wings into attack formation and adopting a loose screening formation attacking the Oppressor's fighter wings. For her own part, she flew as fast as stealth would allow and climbed towards the massive destroyer's, letting loose a flurry of shots from her pulse cannons at the nearest point defense turrets as she approached the hull.

The last vestiges of the licking flames disappeared as he escaped the atmosphere of Fresia. Pushing off round, keeping the E-Wing on its port wing, he levelled off when he was at the right altitude, soaring through the void. As soon as he'd left the relative safety of close orbit, he was greeted by a sight that'd make the brass on Coruscant shiver in their boots. A fleet of behemoths stood out like a sore thumb in orbit of the otherwise lush world.

The Maw had breached the home front and set it ablaze once. But it was one thing to be out and fighting the Maw is some system you'd never heard of, and another to be facing them at your front door.
<"Fan out, but still keep it relatively close."> He spoke into the squadron com, picking up the throttle. Staring out of the his left window, he watched small blobs streak towards what he could only just make out as a Lucrehulk.

If he squinted, he could decipher the diamond-shaped insignia as one from the Milvayne Authority. Those certainly weren't Maw ships, and they didn't look like anyone allied with the Alliance. Glancing down at the button-covered dashboard, he was tempted to hit the IFF transceiver, but he wanted to have a much closer look. From what he could understand from the sensor display, the green blips racing toward the larger red ones, most of Ari Naldax Ari Naldax 's wing had begun engaging the enemy fleet.

But something was eating at his thoughts. Bugging him. Was it curiosity? Was this the "sixth sense" that Jedi spoke of? Balking at the last proposition, he flicked on the com, pulling back the throttle slightly as the wedge-shaped battlecruisers came into menacingly-close range.

"Incoming Alliance ships. This is Major Naldax commanding the expeditionary squadrons of Joint Base Coromon. Request you focus on the Lucrehulk's fleet. Repeat: Request you Focus on the Lucrehulk. We've got a rancor bone to pick with those Maw ships."

<"Raider Leader to Nemesis Leader, we're gonna conduct some forward reconnaissance, and send you data from what we find over."> He reported. "Tee-One mark position three for rendezvous, somewhere out of range of enemy sensors, we'll get slightly into range then deploy jammers." The droid obliged and he readied himself for the coming storm.

It would seem that the Final Dawn Communication Room was preoccupied at the moment as they had failed to respond to his message in a prompt manner. As the 1st Rancor Auxiliary Squadron would form up near the Final Dawn Task Force to support them. The Milvayne-Class Heavy Destroyers were laid out around the RNS Toborro to provide maximum coverage of the flagship and prevent flanking attempts by the Galactic Alliance Reinforcements should they arrive in considerable numbers to defend Fresia. Iermin found the entire affair quite boring but honoring his agreement with the High Regent was considered paramount to securing more influence within the underworld.

The Super Tactical Droid Vermid would be monitoring the situation on a datapad while his lord was gorging himself on snacks and other luxuries. "Sir. We are picking up magnetic signatures approaching the Final Dawn Task Force from the planet." | The response from the bridge was quick and precise. Picking up the starfighter squadrons of Ari Naldax Ari Naldax as the battle would officially begin. "Have all Point Defense Systems brought online. Send out a our 1st Starfighter Group to intercept them and have the 2nd Starfighter Group form up around the Toborro once cleared by hanger control" : Vermid responded in typical droid fashion. The Tactic would involve having the 1st Starfighter Group flank around the the Alliance Squadron of Ari Naldax Ari Naldax to pincer them between both Dawn Elements and Rancor Elements.

The 1st Starfighter Group consisting of Five Squadrons of HH-87 Starhoppers which would blast out of the hanger of the Milvayne Variant Lucrehulk as they zoomed towards the Final Dawn Task Force to trap the Alliance Squadron.

The 2nd Starfighter Group consisting of Five Squadrons of Kihraxz Assault Fighters would proceed out of the hanger once the first group was cleared. Moving around the Flagship to protect its more vulnerable areas for the time being.

FINAL DAWN
FRESIA , CORE WORLDS
POV : VICE-ADMIRAL SHALL TIDE

TASK FORCE MOMIN
Fleet Composition :
Starfighter Compliment [Currently Deployed] :

As Task Force Momin comfortably waited for the arrival of their foes, a set of warships emerged from hyperspace quickly moving to join the Final Dawn Naval Task Force in blockading Fresia. It was the 99th Rancor Fleet, or at least an Auxiliary Force from the 99th which had come to assist the Final Dawn as per the arrangement agreed upon by the Final Dawn and the Hutt Crime Lord lermin the Hutt. "Sir, we've received word that an Auxiliary Force of the 99th has just arrived and that they are ready to provide support wherever we need them." an officer cried out. "Good. Now that our naval forces are in place, send word to our ground team to begin their infiltration of the Alliance Base within the Coromon Islands. The sooner they take out their shields, the better." Tide proclaimed.

Shortly after the Vice-Admiral gave his response, the Sensors of the Oppressor began to detect new arrivals and they were not friendly. The Alliance had made their move with assets from their base on Fresia rushing to engage the joint Final Dawn/Mercenary Fleet in orbit while additional naval forces and starfighter squadrons emerged from hyperspace to support them. "So, they've finally arrived." Tide said to himself. "A single flotilla spearheaded by a Battlecruiser-sized vessel plus multiple independent starfighter squadrons, sir." an officer said. "...and we seem to be their primary target." the Vice-Admiral added. From his position within the bridge of the Oppressor, he could see the enemy flotilla quickly deploying it's entire compliment of starfighters which began to rush towards the Final Dawn Task Force.

"We're detecting at least twenty-five squadrons from the main enemy flotilla and an additional four starfighter squadrons attacking us from the rear." an officer said. Already, the Final Dawn Warships was in a somewhat disadvantageous position. Expecting the GADF to quickly respond to the incursion, they had repositioned themselves so that they would be directly facing the incoming reinforcements which left their aft sections facing the planet below, exactly where the additional four squadrons from the Fresian Base were coming from. However with the 99th already deploying their compliment of starfighters, enough enemy starfighters would be distracted to allow Tide to only deploy a portion of his own starfighter compliment and keep the rest in reserve for when he would be in a position to attack the Military Base and Manufacturing Facilities on the planet below.

"Have the Titan and Nemesis deploy their air wings to confront all incoming starfighters from that flotilla." Tide ordered. He then took out a commlink and then began to speak. "Baron Vonreg, the Crimson Linings are clear for deployment. Your current objective is to eliminate the enemy starfighters attacking us from the rear." the Vice-Admiral ordered. Even if the Alliance had brought their best pilots here, with the Crimson Linings at his disposal even they would be powerless to prevent the success of the Final Dawn mission.

Soon enough, the Anti-Starfighter Weapons of the Oppressor would come to life unleashing heavy barrages of plasma towards any enemy starfighter within their range, thus beginning the Battle of Fresia. The Battle that would determine the true capabilities of the Final Dawn once and for all.
