- Alexander-type Advanced Heavy Plating
- Quintuple-layered Armored Hull Plating with Integrated Shielding
- Layer 1
- Outermost Layer: Consists of an impervium-hijarna stone compound formed into overlapping plates of armor plating. The combination of these two materials gives incredibly high defenses against energy and ion-based weaponry due to the special energy absorption properties of the hijarna stone and the strength of the impervium. Agrinium and a Dallorian Alloy coating is applied to alternating plates to further increase the energy resistance and heat resistance.
- Layer 2
- Outer Intermediate Layer: Consists of micro-layered and overlapping sheets of trimantium and laminanium interspersed with the AR-0B damage reduction armor component's ablative current to reduce energy blasts that have pierced the first layer and kinetic weaponry.
- Layer 3
- Middle Absorption Layer: Consists of a layer of titanium enhanced with the AR-0B damage reduction armor component that is designed to act as a crumple zone for kinetic impacts and explosive forces. Each of these crumple zones is filled with bistate thermal gel that allows for the further absorption of kinetic force as the gel hardens upon impact from a physical object.
- Layer 4
- Inner Nullification Layer: Repeats the micro-layered and overlapping sheets of trimantium and laminanium from the Outer Intermediate Layer. However, this layer has been further enhanced with a Force Nullification resin coating on the armor plating and a thin layer of Absencite, which can be activated from the bridge of a starship or other designated stations throughout the ship by channeling an electrical current through the layer to create a bubble around the ship that has a radius of a meter, that protects those within the ship's hull from mental Force-based attacks and senses.
- Layer 5
- Innermost Layer: Consists of a doonium bulkhead coated with Dallorian Alloy that has micro-scaled shield emitters that constantly emit a low-level deflector shield between the fourth and fifth layer. This is designed to further reduce energy weapon fire and kinetic weapons while providing some level of shielding in case the ship's primary shielding system has been reduced or rendered inoperable.
- Layer 1
- Quintuple-layered Armored Hull Plating with Integrated Shielding
- Carbuncle Shielding System
- Sextuple-layered overlapping shielding system with an upgraded electromirror, particle shields, ray shields, ion shields, and molecular shielding
- The outermost layer of the shield, designated Ruby Light, is a vastly improved version of the electromirror created by the Xandret Shielding System that makes use of features from the Bounceback technology, point-of-impact shielding, and retribution feedback shield technology. Whenever an energy-based weapon attack impacts the shield properly, it will more often than not reflect towards its source, empowered by energy feedback from the Carbuncle to inflict a higher degree of damage on that source than the original shot.
- The second layer of the projected shield is a reinforcing particle shield to blunt or deflect kinetic weapons, such as those from a mass driver or hypervelocity cannon.
- The third layer of the projected shield is a reinforcing ray shield to deflect further or mitigate any energy weapons, such as from a turbolaser, laser cannon, or ion weaponry.
- The fourth layer of the projected shield is a second particle shield to blunt further or deflect kinetic weapons, such as from a mass driver or hypervelocity cannon.
- The fifth layer of the projected shield is a reinforcing ion shield to mitigate ion and EMP weaponry damage to both the vessel's shields and electronic systems.
- The sixth layer of the projected shield is based on molecular shielding, allowing the shields to absorb incoming energy weapons, such as from a turbolaser, laser cannon, or ion weaponry. The absorbed energy is shunted into capacitor banks that an equipped starship or vehicle can use to distribute increased power to other systems or even back into their other shielding layers.
- Sextuple-layered overlapping shielding system with an upgraded electromirror, particle shields, ray shields, ion shields, and molecular shielding

- Making use of the Alexander-type Advanced Hull Plating and the Carbuncle Shielding System, each Dalmasca freighter has an excessive amount of defensive systems installed to ensure it takes as little damage as possible from enemy attacks. An extensive suite of automated Leviathan point-defense emplacements also allow each Dalmasca to protect itself from enemy attack craft and ordnance.
- Making use of the latest and proprietary technology, each Dalmasca can utilize a Crucius Etherdrive to create portals through sub-hyperspace, utilizing quintessence and dark energy, to allow it to connect two points of realspace together temporarily until it passes through the portal. This allows the near-instant transportation of its cargo to its destination, significantly reducing costs for the company utilizing a Dalmasca freighter.
- Each Dalmasca, much like a Gagazet-class Manufactory Vessel, is outfitted with extensive mining and processing capabilities, with massive cargo and material storage able to hold forty million metric tons of cargo and six million metric tons of mined or harvested materials at full capacity. Plasma drills and gas processing vanes allow the ships to extract the materials they need on their own, whether it be minerals or gases, and the ship has multiple tractor beams and magnetic cargo cranes to load and unload materials, equipment, and even vehicles.
- As a means to better protect the crew, should the worst happen, each Dalmasca is equipped with twenty escape pods and four portions of the ship are detachable and functional salon pods that can act as slow, but incredibly sturdy, hyperdrive capable emergency craft.
- Each Dalmasca, while relatively fast for a ship of its size, due to their construction, configuration, and heavy armored hull, are incredibly cumbersome starships to fly and have extremely low maneuverability. A Dalmasca will almost always need to rely upon its defensive shields and armor if attacked.
- While damage to the hull can be repaired on its due to its design, the sensors and other electronics for the Divine Eyes sensor system are embedded in the hull. Destroyed parts of the hull could create blind spots in the ship's sensor networks. Additionally, while the laminanium present can repair the inner layer of the plating system, it cannot repair the outer layer if it is damaged or destroyed, requiring drydock time to fix the vessel. In addition, while it can repair minor damages fairly quickly, major damage can take hours if not days to repair itself and could still require drydock time for the ship to reach full operability.
- If a sufficient number of the phantom energy emitter arrays on the ship's hull become damaged, any sub-hyperspace portal created by the Crucius system risks becoming unstable and collapsing on the ship attempting to pass through it, likely severing it into two pieces or outright disintegrating the ship. Before engaging the system, if the integrated Karn modules detect too much damage, they will automatically shut the system down and prevent its use by the crew.
- While the Crucius system is engaged, to ensure a stable portal creation, an equipped starship's shields must be lowered to prevent any sort of interference with the phantom energy emitter array across the hull. This could be potentially problematic in a combat situation as it would leave a vessel susceptible to enemy attacks and potentially damage the arrays until the shield can be re-engaged.
Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Highwind Program, the Dalmasca-class Superfreighter is the largest of the company's freighter offerings for the galaxy in terms of size and capabilities. At four thousand five hundred meters in width, giving the Dalmasca an uncommon wing appearance, the ship is as large as battlecruiser in terms of size, but much of that space is devoted to its significant cargo hold and processing systems. Each Dalmasca can hold, at full capacity, forty million metric tons of cargo, typically held in shipping containers along with three million metric tons of mined materials such as ores and minerals and three million metric tons of strategic gases. These ships can also harvest these materials themselves with the onboard systems that are not dissimilar to those found on Aurora's Gagazet-class Manufactory Vessels.
To protect the ship from raiders, the Dalmasca is equipped with the strongest defensive systems currently developed by Aurora Industries. The Alexander-type hull plating is a five-layered system of extensive armor plating, while the Carbuncle shield system is a six-layered oscillating and overlapping shield system, with the details for each system located above. The ship is also equipped with extensive point defense and anti-ordnance systems, all overseen by integrated Karn modules to allow the crew to focus on other tasks.
Having extensively studied the results from the limited deployment of the Crucius Etherdrive aboard the prototype Defiance, the company felt assured about installing the sub-hyperspace portal system on other ships that were being developed by the company. The Dalmasca-class Superfreighters would be the first such line of ships to benefit from this, giving the ship the ability to transit between two points of the galaxy near instantaneously, along with other accompanying ships that could pass through the portal it creates. The system would be a major selling point for the Dalmasca, especially for trade corporations, as it would significantly save on fuel and operational costs for the cargo being transported.
