  • Production: Mass-Produced
  • Material:
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Continuing the design concept from the previous engine system, the Garuda makes use of a miniaturized molecular furnace built into the system to produce a variety of fuel types for the drive to power the engine.
  • Thermo-Converters were included into the design to both provide power to the modified molecular furnace and to keep the heat generated by the breakdown and recombination of molecules at safe levels for the engine and the crews of ships they are installed in.
  • A small reservoir of coaxium is connected to the engine that, when the order is given, a small portion of the stored hyperfuel can be released into the engine system and provide a considerable short-term boost to engine output.
STRENGTHS
  • The internal molecular furnace allows any material fed into it to produce any fuel system for the engine, with the internal components of the systme designed to accept any fuel for maximum and efficient thrust.
WEAKNESSES
  • If the drive's internal molecular furnace becomes sabotaged, it can cause a chain reaction that can consume the engine that will utterly destroy it.
DESCRIPTION

While the company did not see much wrong with its current engine designs, part of the Aeon Program for Aurora Industries was assigned the task of seeing if there were improvements that could be made upon the system. The team determined there were a few modifications they could make on the base Crest Drive, streamlining parts of its components and the molecular furnace at its heart. Agrinium was added to the casing and shielding around the drive to cut down on potentially hazardous radiation exposures, along with the thermo-converters. A final addition to the new engine, now being called the Garuda Variable Ion Drive, was a small reservoir of coaxium that could be injected into the engine for a short-term, but considerable, boost to engine output and thrust.
