- When an energy current is passed through it, it creates a Force dampening field much like its stony origins with the size of the field varying depending on the size of the crystal.

- Absencite produces a Force dampening field bubble, similar to that of its void stone origins, whenever an energy current is passed through it. This can be incredibly useful in cases, such as with the Eligor cloak, where the bubble can hide those within it from the sense of Force users and even allow them protection from Force based attacks if it is used on a more personal level such as in an armor or shielding system.
- Absencite is still just a crystal and any significant blow can shatter it, rendering it completely useless for the device it was installed in.
For the past two decades, ever since Taeli Raaf and Aurora Industries had become aware of Otherspace and the ability to travel to it, they had been studying the otherworldly realm from the acquired space station of Jen'asha Station. The company had retrofitted the station to be a cutting edge research and development station, one that could not easily be found and could produce extremely unique creations for the company's use. One such development from the labs on the station was from their studies of the substance found within Otherspace known as void stone. Void stone, in its natural state, was generally found as a meteroite that exhibited a weird relationship with the Force, creating a dampening field not dissimilar to that of a ysalamir at all times.
The research team at Jen'asha acquired several samples from Aurora mining vessels that were stealthily exploring Otherspace, keeping under the radar of the native Charon, and began experimenting with the material on a molecular level. Like most rock, void stone was a polycrystalline structure on the molecular level, but the scientists on the station conducted experiments on what might happen if the stone's molecules were rearranged into an ordered crystalline structure. The result was a blueish purple crystal once the sample was processed, but the scientists were perplexed as the resident Force users on the team could not detect any absence or weakness within the Force like they had before the crystal was formed. Curious, they passed an energy beam through the crystal and the result was an instantaneous return of the Force dampening field. When the energy was cut, the field vanished. The team termed the new material Absencite, and several of the new crystals were sent back into realspace for use by the company in developing their Eligor Cloaking Device.
However, the team had received the greenlight to expand their research and development with the new material from the CEO of the company as the desire for a wider use of the crystal, and its potential applications, had intrigued the Board of Chief Engineers at the company.
