SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Building upon its predecessor, the Starscourge is similarly tied into a web-like system of capacitors that channel and store excess energy produced by the reactor. These capacitors can be used to provide extra boosts of power to systems in need, such as weapons or shield, but they can now also act as batteries to generate emergency power for systems tied to them in case the reactor itself is disabled for a few hours at most.
  • The Starscourge, much like its predecessor and its smaller cousin the Ramuh-II, utilizes a preservation field to ensure the crystal at its heart remains in its solid state for maximum energy potential. However, copying the Ramuh-II improvement, the reactor can operate using Sianteria plasma if the field is disabled, but with reduced output and efficiency.
  • For larger vessels, and as a carryover from the previous reactor system, Starscourge reactors can be linked together for more efficient use of space within a starship. Improvements have been made on the failsafe to avoid a cascading failure along a chain of reactors if one is destroyed, isolating power surges into capacitors and rerouting energy output from others in the chain.
STRENGTHS
  • Because of the origins of the Sianteria crystal being a combination of kyber and isotope-5 subjected to the company's patented Sianium process, the device requires only a small crystal to generate immense levels of power, giving Aurora engineers greater flexibility in size scaling and always ensuring their reactors are smaller than other similarly powerful systems.
  • Improving on the previous model, energy efficiency and power flow were streamlined, and the device is able to power itself with Sianteria plasma if necessary, although it does reduce the energy output of the reactor. However, it still remains stabler than other common starship reactor fuel systems.
WEAKNESSES
  • If the preservation field capsule fails or the device is sabotaged, the crystal within sublimates immediately into its plasma state, reducing the power output of the device by roughly half until a new crystal capsule is installed.
  • Due to the amount of power generated by the reactor, starships and other systems and facilities need to be designed around the reactor and cannot be retrofitted to accept it as the result can be a rather intense overload and frying of connected systems.
DESCRIPTION

Developed in parallel with the improved Ramuh-II Power Core for the Aeon Program, the Starscourge Reactor System takes improvements created for its smaller cousins and applies them to itself. Engineers for the company modified the energy capacitor networks that surround the reactors to continue acting as potential energy reservoirs for boosts to certain localized systems such as weapons or shields, but also allowing them to be used as backup power systems in case their connected reactor fails completely. Using the modifications from the Ramuh-II, the internal components can operate at a reduced output if the preservation field in the crystal capsule fails and the Sianteria sublimates into its plasma state, and improvements were made to safety protocols for linked reactors.
