  • Apocalyptic Firepower: Specifically designed to be the last word in overwhelming firepower within the Eternal Fleet, the Ragnarök is capable of delivering truly awe-inspiring levels of firepower to the battlefield. Although she rarely ever travels without escort, she single-handedly is capable of applying enough destruction to take on all but the most intimidating of battle fleets, as well as to provide near-peerless performance against rival super capital ships.
  • Complete Coverage: While the variety and quantity of armaments aboard this intimidating vessel directly correlates to the aforementioned destructive power it possesses, this abundance also provides the added benefit of providing complete firing coverage from all angles of the ship - eliminating any ‘blind spots’ wherein a smaller vessel could reside in an attempt to avoid its wroth.
  • Mobile Fortress: Bearing three layers of armor, along with a top of the line shielding array, the Ragnarök could easily be considered a bastion of the stars; able to endure punishment lesser ships would crumble into dust under.
  • Unlimited Power: This Super Star Destroyer bears not one - but two hyper-advanced reactor systems, namely the HAPU cluster serving as the primary power source and the Isotope-5 system as the secondary emergency means of power generation to support the massive power needs the Ragnarök possesses, as well as to mitigate an event of primary reactor failure. In truth, the ship can operate under optimal levels with two reactors, or under emergency situations with one reactor online. The reasons for this seeming redundancy of (2) sets of (2) reactors is two-fold: 1) To deter successful boarding actions from disabling a centralized compartment containing all primary or secondary reactors (see above notation regarding positioning of reactors); 2) To alleviate strain on any single pairing of reactors, be they the HAPU or Isotope-5 system.
  • Maneuverable: Despite its imposing size, firepower, and defensive features, the Ragnarök is surprisingly fast and maneuverable all things considered. While not able to outpace or outperform super capital ships based around speed and maneuverability, she could easily outmaneuver similarly armed and armored peers.

  • Firing Arcs: While the ship’s most prominent strength resides in its already well established firepower and coverage, one noted weakness not to be ignored is the easily underestimated fact that the Ragnarök is incapable of bringing allof its weapon systems to bear upon a single target. The reasons for this are as follows:
    • While obvious, it should still be stated that the Proton Beam cannon mounted underneath the ship is a fixed weapon, and can only be fired upon ships directly in front of the Ragnarök. At best, the support struts could be minimally adjusted to account for single-digit degree offsets, but that is all. A similar state is true for the orbital autocannons. While they can swivel to target with relative ease, their traverse is very slow, and their tracking is cumbersome, restricting their viability to planet-based targets only.
    • With regard to the myriad of turbolasers, ballistic & hybrid turret emplacements, and beam cannons of varying sizes and ratings, their placement has been arranged in such a way to provide them the most flexible firing arcs possible both port and starboard, fore and aft, dorsal and ventral. Given the sheer quantities involved and the constraints placed upon their positioning in light of making room for other important infrastructure and systems, it is not a question of tracking or ability but rather a simple matter of physics and geometry; it is an impossibility to bring all of their collective firepower to bear on a single target. In truth, one could expect to focus possibly half of their number on a single target if so desired. Depending on the size, precise angle and proximity of the opposing craft in relation to the Ragnarök, this approximation could increase or decrease accordingly.
  • Below Average Hangar Size: While boasting more than enough starfighter squadrons to support itself in tactical situations, this particular Super Star Destroyer finds itself lacking compared to other more specialized ships of its class.
  • Large Target: As is the case with most Super Star Destroyers, the Ragnarök is a very large target that dominates the field of battle. While it has the defensive staying power to withstand truly devastating assaults, and while she is the closest thing to indestructible as a ship can be, in reality she is not truly immune to destruction. With enough focused, concentrated fire power, she will eventually yield as all ships do. The only difference is it’s significantly harder to hide the Ragnarök behind screens as opposed to smaller vessels.
  • Power Hungry: Given the massive amounts of high-powered armaments the Ragnarök possesses, it requires massive amounts of energy. While this need is filled by the HAPU Reactor Suite, and the ship has an above average backup option, should either reactor fail for any reason, best case scenario the vessel will not fire at all. Worst case, the volatility of the reactors chosen for this vessel could result in a fatal, cataclysmic chain reaction. The likelihood of this occurring is small, but still within the realm of possibility should she take enough damage in the wrong places.
  • Balanced on a Knife’s Edge: Utilizing top of the line tech from the Eternal Empire’s top scientists and contractors, while said technology serves as a notable boon to the ship’s intended purpose, it also serves as a potential risk that shouldn’t be discounted. While both reactor systems are well known and established platforms, and provide near-limitless energy as noted above, both are also known to be temperamental if not maintained correctly. The Proton Beam Cannons, Fusion Plasma Artillery Cannons, Pulse Batteries, and other energy intensive armaments all are devastatingly powerful in their own right, but also require regular maintenance on their own timetables. Again, any malfunction could result in either the best case scenario, namely the systems being temporarily disabled - or at worst, a chain of failures that, under the most extreme of circumstances, could result in the total failure and possible destruction of the ship itself. Needless to say, a crack engineering team is required for this ship to be deployed effectively whilst also being returned in one piece.

Filling the role of an apex predator within the vast depths of the void, the Ragnarök is the final word with regard to the Eternal Empire’s naval power in terms of raw, apocalyptic-level firepower. Designed as one of four Super Capital ships to cement the Empire as a naval power to be both feared and respected, this unique vessel is considered to be the massive battleaxe alongside the more specialized sister-ships in her class. Named after the Eternal Empire’s Ragnarök Protocol, she was intended to be brought to bear during truly crucial or significant engagements.

While most interstellar navies boasting Super Star Destroyer class vessels reserve said ships, and keep them spirited away docked at bastions within their borders, this ship is often seen deployed alongside Battlegroup Stygian. Although the reason for this is not widely known, it is assumed its liberal deployment fulfills a two-fold purpose of projecting Imperial power along its borders against outside threats, and serving as a visceral, imposing reminder of the Empire’s presence within conquered star systems.

Some aspects of this ship that are noteworthy to mention are the utilization of the newly designed “Malmourral” Fusion Plasma Artillery Cannons, as well as the older but no less devastating KC-6M303 Proton Beam Cannon. Powered by the HAPU Reactor Suite, and guided by the ‘Divine Eyes Sensor Package’, few ships can lay claim to the amount of raw firepower that can be delivered with pin-point accuracy and precision, without overloading internal power systems. To add onto this, the Ragnarök is not to be dismissed when it comes to its maneuverability or speed. While not raising any eyebrows compared to more specialized Super Capital Ships, she is more than capable of outmaneuvering and outpacing similarly clad and armed ships, rendering her a dangerous ship to dance with compared to her rivals amongst the galaxy.

Much like the Empire she serves, the Ragnarök is slated to be an Eternal fixture amidst the galactic stage.

I do love a good SSD, there are just one thing you're going to need to clear up before I can approve this submission.

1) Manufacturer

jatDt8.jpg

As you can see from the table above only a Major Faction is able to produce a 10km combat ship, please go ahead and alter the SSDs manufacturer to the Eternal Empire. Companies can be secondary producers who create specific elements but the primary manufacturer MUST be a major faction.

2) Linked submissions

Several of your submissions are made by the Karavin Concern or others and affiliated with the Eternal Empire, however if, in the future, you build a ship that can be built by another company then you will need permissions even if the ship is for Eternal Empire usage. In this case it will be dealt with when the manufacturer is adjusted.

Please tag me when you have dealt with this

Added Eternal Empire as manufacturer.

Thanks for clarifying!
