Evolved from the core principles of the Naboo-based Order of Shiraya, the Jedi Order is the overarching organization for Light Side Force users in the Mid-Rim. As an ancient philosophical and monastic organization, its members are dedicated to the preservation of peace, justice, and the living Force throughout the High Republic.
The Jedi Order operates as a spiritual and ethical force, guiding its members to act in service of the greater good. Their loyalty is not beholden to any single government or border, but strictly to the will of the Force and the ideals of the High Republic.
GUIDING PHILOSOPHY
The Jedi are bound by the Shirayan Jedi Code, which reflects the Naboo origins of the Order, emphasizing balance between inner life and outward duty.
Shirayan Jedi Code:
- Where there is no emotion, there is no life.
- Where there is ignorance, seek out understanding.
- Where there is discord, find balance.
- Where there is life, stand as its shield and sword.
- Where there is doubt, trust in the Force.
ORGANIZATION AND STRUCTURE
The Jedi Order operates with a disciplined hierarchy, centralized around two critical locations that serve as its spiritual and operational hubs.
Command Centers
- Shiraya's Sanctuary (Naboo): The historical heart and spiritual home of the Order, where the first Jedi were trained. It serves primarily as a sacred place of deep meditation, archival study, and the initial training academy for Initiates.
- Lightspire Station (Mobile Station): The primary forward operating base and symbol of the Jedi Order's outreach across the High Republic. The Lightspire coordinates missions, diplomacy, and response efforts throughout the Galaxy, ensuring the Jedi are mobile and responsive to the needs of everyone.
The High Council: Based either on Lightspire Station or within Shiraya's Sanctuary, this council sits at the head of the Order. The High Council interprets the will of the Force, directs the general strategy of the Order, and assigns Knights and Masters to guide the galaxy's peacekeeping efforts.
RANKS & PROGRESSION OF THE JEDI ORDER
Progression through the ranks requires years of rigorous training in meditation, diplomacy, combat, and ethics, ensuring every Jedi is prepared to meet the challenges of their calling.

One Jedi chosen from the High Council shall sit as the Grandmaster of the Jedi. This role holds all authority to override the decisions of the council but only to preserve Order and Stability. The Grandmaster is the highest authority for all Jedi within the Order.

A Jedi who has been elevated to the High Council by the Grandmaster. These Jedi are instrumental to the diplomatic ideals of the Jedi Order and allow all in the room to have a say on any matter that needs their attention.

A Jedi who has reached the rank of Master is a paragon of the Force, they have spent years training themselves to use it as their ally. They have usually seen many of their padawans through to full Jedi Knights or even Master's themselves and are held in extreme and valuable esteem by the entire order.

Upon being knighted a Jedi has moved from their training years and are now ready to serve the Force as a Jedi. They are the defenders of Peace and Justice in the High Republic and may begin taking Padawan's on as pupils themselves to teach and guide.

Sometimes referred to as an apprentice, these junior Jedi are the learners of the Jedi Creed. They are usually partnered up to Jedi Knights, Masters or even temple bound to lessons in relative safety while they learn to harness emotion, skill and ability. It is not uncommon for a Padawan to travel the galaxy with their assigned Knight or Master.
The Trials of Knighthood
To achieve the rank of Jedi Knight, a Padawan must undergo and pass the ancient Trials. These challenges - often relating to Skill, Courage, Flesh, Spirit, and Insight - are designed to test the Padawan's character, dedication, and connection to the living Force, proving they are ready to stand alone as a protector of the peace.
PATHS OF SERVICE (JEDI ARCHETYPES)
While all Jedi belong to the unified Order, after their basic training, Padawans are encouraged to dedicate their studies toward one of three primary vocational paths based on their talents and inclinations. This structure allows Jedi characters to specialize and provides clear expansion opportunities for roleplay.
- Focus: Preservation, protection, and defense.
- Writers' Focus: Characters devoted to martial prowess, combat, and physical shielding of the innocent. Guardians are the Order's frontline soldiers, often deployed to regions facing immediate political instability or direct threats (e.g., Jedi Weapon Specialists, Jedi Battlemaster, Jedi Ace, Jedi Peacekeeper).
- Focus: Wisdom, diplomacy, and the preservation of knowledge.
- Writers' Focus: Characters specializing in mediation, historical study, and ethical counsel, achieving goals through civil discourse. Consulars use wisdom to guide the Order, perfecting diplomacy and focused Force abilities against foes (e.g., Jedi Ambassador/Diplomat, Jedi Healer, Jedi Researcher/Lore Keeper, Jedi Seer).
- Focus: Investigation, outreach, and blending into the wider galaxy.
- Writers' Focus: Characters who excel at technical skills, covert investigation, security, and humanitarian work. Sentinels often operate in areas where a visible Jedi presence is detrimental. Their duties include dismantling crime syndicates, performing long-term political investigations, or utilizing special skills to aid communities away from the spotlight (e.g., Jedi Artisan, Jedi Investigator, Jedi Shadow, Jedi Watchman).
The Hidden Path: The Underground
While the Jedi Order operates openly in support of the High Republic, the galaxy is vast, and many planets suffer under harsh or tyrannical regimes. The Underground functions as a critical humanitarian and rescue network, typically managed by resourceful Sentinels and compassionate Guardians.
It is a hidden structure of safe houses, guarded hyperspace routes, and silent agents existing purely for the purpose of aiding those trapped behind borders. The Underground is not a political force; it is a lifeline. Its missions involve non-violent extraction, providing medical aid, and offering temporary sanctuary, ensuring that hope and the light of the Republic can reach even the darkest corners of the galaxy, with all roads eventually leading back to Lightspire Station or the Sanctuary.
