Annihilation The Imperial March

LABOUR FOR THE EMPEROR AND THE CELESTIAL COURT
"Do you really believe that we would trust you?" She said it and Rei looked at her as she held a hand up. "

Franceline's eyes closed. She did not attempt to interrupt or argue her position, already loosening her taut muscles in clear anticipation of having to cushion some incoming loss of balance. This made her posture more crooked than it was before, but Rei's continued support was sufficient to keep her from falling over, at least now that they had stopped moving.

You came here to attack us, offer no ultimatum just violence and the one thing we have that protects us conveniently is the one thing we need to drop to save use." She looked at the woman with a scowl. "An A for effort mind you but you got to give more information then broken speech."

"It has already fired against the fleet that is trying to confront it."

Her eyelids pulled apart, opening to reveal her still reddened, and unrelieved eyes. Her mouth ceased its trembling to allow for some uninterrupted stream of consciousness, this time somewhat more measured slow bursts.

"In this limited time frame that we have, before they have readied the next salvo, I do not have the time or the energy to write down the arithmetic for an elaborate explanation."

"Yes, we are at war."

"But I don't want to die, just as much as you don't want to die."

"Hence why I tried to warn you."

"I'm not here out of my own will. Most of our men aren't."

"If we were, the fighting would be smarter. Deliberate."

"If you want to take this risk and not believe me, at least allow me to crawl to some quiet corner or alley, where I'll be away from alloys that could melt or glass that could explode from the heat generated by the event."

PRIVATE FRADEO DUDLEA
MIN JAWA'S DELIGHT
JAR’KAI OUTER LIMITS

"T-minus 2 minutes and counting!"

Fradeo nervously checked and rechecked every last piece of equipment that he had been given as the dropship that he was on, the Jawa's Delight, slowly descended toward its mission objective.

Fresh out of the academy on Mahporeem, this battle was going to be Fradeo's first ever, and it showed directly on his face. His Junktrooper training had actually been cut short so he and his classmates could be deployed to Atrisia, as apparently the situation across the galaxy was getting desperate. It wasn't as if Fradeo really cared about what happened to the Galactic Alliance or Galactic Empire or anything like that, as after all, both factions were millions of lightyears away from his home planet. What Fradeo did care about was the fate of his home planet, where his family and friends lived. If there was any possibility that someone might try to hurt them, Fradeo would do anything he could to stop that from happening.

That was why he had joined up, of course. He had heard about what was going on in the Core and how the Empire was rampaging its way across the stars, destroying any planet it came across. If nothing was done, they would eventually reach Imperial Confederation space, and eventually after that, Mahporeem itself. It was far better to fight them here on a planet that Fradeo could give a Porg's butt about than wait until they came knocking at his front door.

Still, despite his noble ideological intentions, Fradeo couldn't help but feel nervous. He could feel his heart pounding in his chest as the Jawa's Delight shuttered from side to side, the ship recoiling from all the blaster and missile fire it was receiving. Fradeo hated flying in on this thing, and despite the reassurance of his officers on the durability of the Stork Dropship , he felt like they could be shot out of the sky at any moment.

Another impact nearly sent Fradeo flying out of his seat, and he cursed silently to himself. The beating of his heart was getting loudly and loudly and Fradeo was now keenly aware of just of heavily he was breathing. "Just like the simulations, its just like the simulations", he kept muttering to himself as he did his best to remain calm. Of course he had participated in training exercises before he deployed, but they were in all honesty nothing like the real thing.

He just wished he could get off this deathtrap as soon as possible!

Unknown to him, he was about to get his wish as the Stork made its final approach toward the forces of Laphisto Laphisto , the leader of the Liaste Order, to support them in their defense of their forward operating base. They had been fighting Empire forces for some time now and were in serious danger of being overrun. The reinforcements carried aboard the Jawa's Delight would hopefully go a long way in ensuring that didn't happen.

"Forces of the Liaste Order, this is the MIN Jawa's Delight of the Mahporeem Imperial Remnant. We have come to aid and assist you in the defense of your current positions. We mean you no harm and ask you to hold your fire as we begin landing. Again, do not fire upon us, we are sending you reinforcements!"

As the ship's captain finished speaking, he started transmitting transponder codes to the Liaste Order's ground units, signifying his friendly intentions. Of course, anyone with even half a brain would surely be able to intercept those codes, and if the Empire wan't alerted to their presence before, they certainly would be now. Unfortunately, it was risk that the Imperial Remnant was going to have to take, as the bulk of their forces were still stuck aboard the Von Strauss-class cargo ships that were being fired upon by automated Alliance defenses. If they were going to avoid that particular fate, they would have to make sure everyone knew exactly who they were and who they were fighting for, even if it meant losing the element of surprise.

The Jawa's Delight flew directly overhead the Liaste Order's defense positions, a hastily assembled perimeter of sandbags, machine guns and heavy walkers. Though it was going to be tight, the Jawa's Delight would have just enough space to land directly in the center to drop off its troops, which is exactly what it started doing.

As the dropship touched down and deployed its ramps, its passengers began streaming out to support their allies. Fradeo sprinted down the ramp with the rest of his platoon as hundreds of Junktroopers rushed to repel the attack Empire forces. Lumbering out slowly behind them were a quartet of All Terrain Modular Artillery Platforms, which began firing their heavy artillery platforms at any enemy targets that they could.

The situation was chaotic, as blaster and slugthrower fire began pouring in at Fradeo and his squadmates. Fradeo nearly caught a blaster bolt to the chest, the energy projectile missing him by mere inches. Fradeo immediately dropped to the ground and began crawling toward the defensive installations, as his chances of survival would be much improved if he could just find some sort of cover to get behind. The Jawa's Delight, now empty of all the troops it had been carrying, took off and began retreating back to the Von Strauss-class cargo ships it had came in on, ostensibly to pick up and drop off more of the troops still trapped in orbit.

Other Stork Dropships followed closely behind as they made their way to other various parts of the battlefield, carrying with them compliments of IAAT/Rs, All Terrain Heavy Salvage Walkers and TIE Walkers. They would go wherever they might be needed most, and were available to any allied commander that might need additional forces to supplement whatever forces they still had left.

Still, with so many Imperial Remnant reinforcements tied up, Fradeo wondered if what they had now would be enough to win the day...
