  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Ammunition Type: Particle Reactor
  • Ammunition Capacity: 120 - Average
  • Effective Range: Battlefield
  • Rate of Fire: High
  • Damage Output: Very High
  • Recoil: High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • High Rate of Fire: This weapon due to its five rotating barrels supports a continuous rate of fire.
  • Explosive Rounds: The Stryx employs vast sums of supercharged Tibana gas which cause large explosions on impact.
  • Shielded: This weapon has a personal secondary CROSS surrounding the weapon in conjunction with any additional shields.
  • Targeting System: This weapon incorporates a sophisticated Predictive Targeting computer and rangefinder.
  • Ion Compatible: The Stryx has loaded both quad Ion and Standard Isotope 5a batteries for quick swapping between firing modes.
  • Phrik B Plating: The weapon is plated in Phrik armour in order to protect itself from incoming attacks.
  • Ion Shielded: The Stryxs shielded against direct Ion assault due to its integration of Ionite Laminate.
  • EM Rails: The weapon turns on electromagnetic rails for incredibly rapid swiveling.
  • External Ports: This weapon has universal ports which allow it to be linked to the power sources of vehicles or turrets.
  • Class Scalable: Variants of this weapon can be employed on heavy tanks / Bombers or higher.
STRENGTHS
  • Fully Automatic: The five revolving barrels of the Stryx revolving cannon allow the weapon to constantly charge its next shot well in advance allowing a much higher rate of fire than most cannons of its class at a staggering 120 rp/m making this weapon excellent at dealing with slower moving craft like bombers or formations.
  • Highly Explosive: While the Stryx' deceptively small pressurized and condensed bolts deal considerably less damage on impact than most, the contained plasma rapidly reacts with explosive force detonating in an impressive endothermic reaction to disrupt formations and devastate groups of people and vehicles with ease.
  • Attachable Supply: The supply of both ammunition and power to this weapon can be fed through systems usually integrated through a base or larger supply. However, the unit on its own only supplies enough power for 1200 rounds and enough nuclear material for 120.
  • Advanced Targeting: Thanks to the efforts of Freebirds Industries this weapon is linked with predictive targeting and long range sensors to better engage enemies at long distances over entire battlefields. In conjunction with magnetic rails in which the blasts are fired from ensure the projectile speeds are quick and consistent much like that of a railgun.
  • Shielded: To defend itself the weapon, using its own excess energy while charging employs a CROSS one way shield system in conjunction with any other shields which may surround the ship or fortification that its situated on in order to protect it from heavy weapons.
  • Ion Modularity: While already a hybrid weapon dealing in thermal / nuclear damage to its targets. The thermal component of this weapon can be utilized with highly charged plasma resulting in detonations which thanks to the radiation deal incredible damage to systems, short circuiting them and leaving them dead.
  • EM Rail: Stryx weapon systems employ a zero friction superconducting rail on which they rotate, allowing them to turn and track targets with surprising speed, however this requires experienced gunners in order to bring out the best of the weapons.
WEAKNESSES
  • Wind Up: Upon activation, the Stryx takes several moments to charge its particles before beginning to open fire with its salvos, long enough for fast enemies to potentially close gaps or take advantage of the gap before the weapon fires.
  • Volatile: Once charged and firing the charged particle reactor finds itself in a vulnerable spot. Hits from a thermal weapon can cause a reaction dealing considerable damage to the area around the weapon.
  • Ion Fry: Ion blasts making contact with this weapon and shutting down its shields are quite dangerous, as Ion rounds will disable the coolant system of the weapon, causing the charged particles to cause it to overheat badly, potentially damaging the weapon if not addressed immediately.
  • Large Footprint: This weapon is large, and uses a lot of power meaning that it can only be supported by the large platforms of heavy tanks or mobile artillery units or heavy bombers or higher.
DESCRIPTION
The brutality of a plasma cannon is nothing to joke about when they're employed on a battlefield, powerful, explosive and highly destructive to everything that they're aimed at. The Stryx employs all of these facets in conjunction with the sophisticated stability and targeting systems that the House Aquila Quartermasters Guild have come to be known for in conjunction with their business partners at Freebirds Industries. The Stryx, thanks to its five pressurized revolving chambers charges each bolt up to four rounds ahead of the one that's chambered to fire. In this manner its able to ensure that each of the rounds launched at the speed in which they are employed are fully charged and capable of inflicting maximum damage to their targets.

In addition to the high impact power of the charged particle blasts, the unstable pressurized plasma rounds are highly volatile. Hydraulically pressured to the point of critical mass when they are chambered before being charged by each of the Barrel's EM coils, the plasma becomes a near liquid in mass before being fired at extremely high velocities. Upon impact, the sealed contained within the blasts EM field cracks causing the stabilized particles to become unstable with their super-heated properties reacting with other materials around them, be they the metal hull of a ship or the atoms within an atmosphere to create wide explosions.

The system however comes with some drawbacks, although the system doesn't pre-charge the particles in its storage chamber which would allow a higher rate of fire, the particles that are charged are still enough to cause horrific explosions within the system endangering the crew around should they be hit. Not to mention that with the amount of dense heat energy stored within the chambers, although they are made to contain them, they do benefit from a cooling system which ensures they are not ruptured or damaged. Should the Stryx be shut down with an ion weapon, those chambers can over-heat and crack if not dealt with quickly.
