Dominion Sharing is Kayri-ng | GA Dominion of Kayri III

The power vacuum left by the Confederacy of Independent Systems’s collapse presents new opportunities – and challenges. Between war with the Brotherhood of the Maw and rising tensions with the New Imperial Order, safer markets are sought south of the border. The issue has hung over the Senate for some time, but with the tabling of the SILK Trade Route Act, discussions of what to do in wake of the purple curtain’s fall are brought to the fore.

While the Chancellor proposes initial plans to expand into new markets, the people of Kayri III make their first step to joining the Galactic Alliance. The native Charon, whose colony was built well over eight hundred years ago, have begun the process of joining the Alliance. Still, they’ve taken a more cautious approach to establishing proper relations after being burned by their last encounter with a major power. To help ease their minds, an envoy is being sent to Kayri III, including members of the New Jedi Order.

Objective I | New Silk Curtains

A proposal brought forward by the Chancellor himself, the Southern Interplanetary Linkages (SILK) Trade Route Act is tabled in the Senate. New member worlds and economic spheres present opportunities to nearly every Senator – yet the Chancellor’s corporatist roots show with the bill’s granting of some increased benefits for allied corporations who operate and develop the Confederacy’s former worlds.

Objective II | Keep Calm and Charon

The Charon colony was decimated in the lightning strike made by the Confederacy as they claimed Kayri III, but the insectoid settlers have offered a tenuous olive branch to the Alliance. Most sources portray the Charon as monstrous, mindless killers, but the brief communiques with the colony’s leadership has shown remarkable understanding and intelligence – and a subtle distrust of another nation coming to take their home. An envoy has been sent with some supplies to support the colony, and the New Jedi Order brings a gift to replace the Charon’s stolen Void Stone.

Objective III | BYOO

Rumors were there of the Death Cult finally reaching real space. Sneaking onto Kayri II to try and find the secrets of hyperspace travel to bring the whole of the cult from otherspace in a glorious conquest of finally killing the abomination known as life. Jedi Master Valery Noble Valery Noble and her two Padawan's Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren and Iris have been dispatched to find the source of the rumors and stop the emergence of the Charon Death Worshipers in real space, less another terrible purge in an already blood soaked galaxy be unleashed.

Iris sat in the shuttle, her gaze distant as she stared out the window. Like all planets she'd been to, this place was full of colors. But also.. Dark spots. Not from the usual darkside dimming she'd see. But just.. Absences. Void stone, perhaps? Likely Voidstone. Another thing she needed to learn more about, especially if it could dampen her connection to the Force. Then again, that wasn't what they were here for.

"So.. Do we know where to start?"

Isla sat in the Knave as it descended into the atmosphere and took a long low approach to wards the colony, out the window was a pair of Ashlan Interceptors in escort and four more Knaves loaded with supplies and Ashlan Marines. Across the table for her was her friend Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix Tiresh Kobitana-Draellix , sat pouring over the details of the mission. Isla smiled at the pretty snowflake that hung around her neck and thought about the matching one that sat beneath the skinsuit, close to her heart.

"When we land, my Marines will quickly establish a security perimeter, my advance scouts do not report any concerns, but it is standard Ashlan protocol. I have reviewed the details you sent me and Knaves 4 and 5 should have adequate supplies for us to establish a beach head."

She smiled warmly thinking of the different kind of mission that she was on, it was good to be part of the solution for a change.

"We should have a chat with the volunteers at the foundation, the commander of Knave 5 is quite concerned that their packing skills have left a few things floating loose about. A kind word, obviously, would not want to put them of volunteering of course."

Their designated landing site was a large beach area not far down river from the damaged settlement. It was considered the safest location to land the six transport shuttles without damaging any local wildlife. It would be around a mile by speeder to get to their target location once they land. Isla stood and stretched her back the rocking of the shuttle gave her no issues with her sea leg. She stood and looked our the window as tall cliffs whipped past them at high speed.

"you ready for our first joint mission then?"

Senator Castillo had read through the proposals for the SILK agreement, it was all fairly standard as far as she could read, lots of minute details that no doubt the lawyers had argued over for weeks to get this time the table. She was here to speak for the Concordists, the Corporatist friendly arrangement would give excessive incentive to the types of people that might plunder and exploit vulnerable new worlds.

She would speak, it was her first time addressing the Senate and she could not help but be nervous, Constancia was a great world and she hoped that they had elected a great representative.

"My honorable representatives of the Senate, I am proud to represent the planet of Constancia in this reading.

I read with great interest the plans to encourage trade along our outer borders, and my home looks forward to the great opportunities presented by Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe . The increased income from exports from Constancia will fund much needed civil works.

We are providing incentives to the corporations, encouraging them to develop the outer planets on our behalf. And whilst this sounds wonderful, reducing the tax burden on our citizens and putting the risk in the hands of others, we must be absolutely certain that we do not allow the wrong companies to be building our civilisation.

Many companies will see development as an excuse for mining, exploitation and the destruction of existing cultures in order to maximise gains. Do i blame the companies for wishing to profit? No. But as a responsible government, we MUST ensure that the companies profiting from our expansion are creating a society that we can be proud of. We shouldn't risk exploiting incoming societies which may bring other tangible and non-tangible benefits to our existing alliance."

Xasha was pleased that her first speech had come out of her mouth on the order she planned, she drank from the glass of mint water on her desk and breathed a sigh of relief, but her heart still raced as she awaited a response from other Senators.

While Valery had been somewhat hesitant about the idea of bringing her two Padawans along for a mission involving a death cult, she knew they were ready for it. Both of them had gone through incredible hardships and grown at a rate that was hard to keep up with. So now it was time for them to help carry a great responsibility on their shoulders — many were at risk if this cult were allowed to expand their influence, and the three of them were going to play a part in stopping it from happening.
"My plan was to start in a nearby village," Valery said in response to Iris as she piloted the shuttle across the surface of the planet. Her senses had been reaching out and a great disturbance was lingering in the air, calling out for her to investigate.
"All communication with it very suddenly ceased, and I have this bad feeling that the cult has something to do with it."
The path towards the town continued for a few more minutes but when they got within visual range, there seemed to be no sign of any inhabitants. It was a complete ghost town where it hadn't been one only days ago. Life had seemingly vanished overnight. With a rather swift landing, the shuttle finally came down and the doors were opened once the engines went offline.
"Let's take a look around, but be careful."

It was bittersweet to be back here once again. Shran hadn't been on Coruscant in quite some time but not much had changed. He was old enough to remember a time when the rightful Empire, the true successor to the days of old had reclaimed its rightful spot here. Of course, those days were cut short. Since then people like him had been relegated to being a minority voice, representing the interests of the old guard in whatever new power lay claim to the bright star that was the center of the galaxy. Yesterday it was the Grasyon Imperium, today it was the Galactic Alliance. It mattered little, however. In time, the people would remember who it was who truly benefitted them. Already such a sentiment was growing on worlds such as Byss. This had been proven by their willingness to elect Shran to be their representative in the senate despite the Alliance's best efforts to try and rid Byss of their Imperial heritage. Of course, his contacts from Shran's days as High Lord in the Imperium were able to pull strings and help this matter. As much as he disliked Lord Grayson and the pseudo republic he established in his name, there was something to be said about the Lord Imperator's willingness to allow Shran to retain direct authority over several worlds in the core. The two men may have hated each other but there was an undeniable mutual respect for each other's authority. Today however no such mutual respect exited. He was to be the outsider in a senate that cares more about lining their own pockets with their positions of power than they do about actually governing. Growing up, Shran's parents always told him that he had to play by the rules until he was in a position to change them, and that was exactly what he intended to do.

He had read over the SILK proposal that the Chancellor had sent to the senate and there was little in the text itself that Shran had qualms with. His real issue was with his fellow colleagues and the fact that they even have to go through this exercise to begin with. After Senator Callisto finished her remarks, Shran rose and began to speak, "My fellow representatives, much like my colleague from Concordists, Ms. Callisto, this is my first time addressing this body. I would like to be able to say that it is an honor to be here but I find myself a bit puzzled as to why we are here in the first place. Obviously, there are certain administrative duties that a chancellor cannot be expected to handle on their own and that is where legislative councils such as this one come in handy for sure but who are we to impose restrictions on corporations. Senator Callisto would have you believe that all these corporations are out there plundering and pillaging worlds totally unchecked and that just isn't true. The instances of corporate greed that leads to illegal actions are few and far between and well within the ability of the chancellor's office and the executive branch to handle on their own. Now, here we have a proposal which would reduce the economic burden on citizens across this Galactic Alliance and yet the chancellor's hands are tied as he relies on us to deliberate on whether we feel like helping those we represent or not. If something as basic as the SILK proposal fails, I think each and every one of you in this body should take a long look around you and ask yourself just how reliable your democracy really is."

With that, Shran switched off his microphone and sat back down in his seat. It was good to be back.

He needed to move. Keiran didn't particularly like long waits. Or long travel for that matter. Pacing around his quarters, his thought was disrupted only by the soft humm of the engines as the diplomatic shuttle approached Kayri III. Keiran could drumm up a good reason as to why they had picked him. Out of all the available Jedi in the Order, he'd come up as their choice to represent them. Well he was here now, and there was no way to back out of it, to suggest another choice. Stepping in front of a mirror that spread across the door of a large cupboard, he inspected his colourful garments.

He wore the classical robes donned by the Jedi Knights of old, but instead of muted brown and tan colours, it was a deep violet colour with numerous intricate patterns and inscriptions to represent his extremely culturally vibrant homeworld. The padawan couldn't even remember the last time he had actually worn it. Sometimes during special ocassions, he'd scrape it from the back of his closet, but in these turblent times, there weren't many to speak of.

Outside the large viewport, the blue-green orb of Kayri III filled up the space on it, getting larger and larger on the approach. According to the brief, this colony was host to an insectoid species called the Charon which had recently reached out for diplomatic ties. It was a positive sign. In a time where one of their once most closest allies were beginning to show signs of doubt in the relationship and numerous planets bowed to the iron fist, it was reassuring that there were still worlds perceptive to the ideals the Jedi and their allies represented.

A wave of doubt splashed over him, it was lot of pressure, and he wasn't one hundred percent sure that he was equipped to handle it. He wrung damp and clammy hands, his footsteps creating echoes as he traversed the semi-luxurious shuttle. Many of the transports that he had encountered followed a utilitarian design philosophy. That was to say - You won't be on this thing very long so what's the point of making it look pretty?

They seemed to have gone entirely the opposite way with this ship. Even the passageways were lit softly and furnished with scarlet and gold to provide an air of comfort. Of course there were others, but being one the official delegates for the New Jedi Order was still something that he would have never expected. Acknowledging that this would be a learning curve sweeten the deal only slightly, but it was still permeated by the immense knowledge that he wasn't to fail.

"ETA ONE MINUTE TO LANDING."

Time to roll. It had been prudently noticed that the Charon might expect something to replace a holy relic of theirs that had recently been taken out of their position. Known as the Void Stone, it was said it could dampen a force sensitive's ability to use the Force. A cold shudder went down his spine. The silver-haired Jedi wouldn't have liked to have been present to witness its supposed power. Perhaps it was more beneficial that they had something to replace it.

Keiran made his way across a small living area towards the blast doors, meeting with the rest of the delegation, who all didn't look nearly as tense as he was. He exhaled, clutching an overhead handhold. There was a slight thump as they touched down, alerting him that it was time. A hydraulic hiss could be heard as the blast doors opened, and the ship flooded with the light of day, a slight breeze tossing around his silver-blonde hair.

"I got this." He muttered to himself, earning him a look of confusion from one of the delegation. He proceeded to step out onto ground, ready as ever.

Seto sighed, tapping on his data-slate and making attempts to ignore the rising number of unread reports being sent to him. It was almost like a game of chicken he had with himself, if he dared open the unread bundle of reports he’d lose. As long as it remained unread, unseen, whatever frustrations that it held would not trouble him. Clearly nothing wrong can possibly happen with this strategy. Seto wearily mused to himself, he quietly stood up seeing that they had landed on Kayri III.

The Alliance were eager to acquire the southern worlds out to their west, the utter collapse of the Confederacy had led to quite the rush of new Member world applicants. This was the era of the great expansion for the Alliance, the Easter and Northern borders had their hostilities but so much of the galaxy had no such dealings with war or conflict. Seto gave the CIS credit in that aspect, their sheer size of a galactic government made them terrible enemies to have, but it was their lack of friends outside their border that doomed them. The young Du Couteau heir was not a genius when it came to economics, he had an entire staff of Quants in that regard, but when policies of closed borders came to the forefront that spelled doom for them.

Carefully he walked down the lowered ramps, he noted that several Alliance workers were already hard at work unloading equipment and supplies. It was a sort of peace offering to the Charon, information on these species were difficult to find but it was made clear that their war-like tendencies did not impede diplomatic channels. Almost a breath of fresh air for Seto, he had encountered far too many violent zealots with his bouts with the Maw. I think I had my fill with religious fanatics and boring speeches. Seto thought as he wondered how his adjunct was handling the Senate proceedings.

The SILK initiative was by far the most aggressive Corporatist Bill being proposed in quite some time. It was clear to Seto that Chancellor Tithe wanted to make hay while the sun still shined as it wasn’t just enough the credits flowed. Credits needed to flower faster and in larger quantities. The young Du Couteau heir had no doubts that this SILK bill would pass and become law within the Alliance. Despite what other political parties may accuse the Corporatists of being, ineffective and inefficient were not such things. Greedy and neoliberal perhaps, but hardly words that stung. Seto quickly organized a few staff members as he continued on his way to meet with the local government of the Charon colony.

The sooner they could a market established and hyperlane trade routes diverted here, the sooner he could jump to the next planet and start the whole process again.

Tiresh was completely absorbed in her own world, two datapads placed on the table in front of her. One scrolled a seemingly endless flow of details on the Charon culture and appropriate greetings and mannerisms, as well as what was considered to be threatening and distasteful to them. The other was a list of their foundations assets along with continual updates and reports from the foundation overseers which kept popping up on the screen. She had a protocol droid standing right behind her, attempting to help her nail the formal Charon greeting which was a conglomerate of clicks, squeals, and scratching sounds… a very unnatural form of communication for any human to attempt.

<Click click scratch squeal click squeal scratch…> She voiced her attempt at the odd sounds rather bluntly, this being her 50th attempt at the complicated and nuanced dialect that only other insectoid species could truly replicate affectively. The protocol droid shifted its metal frame slightly, growing weary of her ongoing attempts, although it would never voice as much.

<…squeal scratch…> it repeated for the 50th time using it's perfectly replicated audio recording of the species as the template.

<…squeal scratch.>

<…squeal scratch…>

<…squeal scratch…>

<………………squeal scratch…>

Tiresh sighed, rubbing her temples with her fingers, "I swear… I don't hear any difference between what I'm doing and what you're saying… I think I'm going mad." She probably looked rather ridiculous with the contortions she was making to her face in a failing attempt to replicate the unique sound. She shifted her focus back to the cultural studies…. Ok… So basically… don't touch your face… don't cross your hands in front of you, that might be interpreted as an act of aggression… Don't Kriffin' BREATH wrong… oh force…

Besides the cultural greeting that was expected to be given by the Senator of Lujo, everything else seemed to be going well. It was Tiresh's first joint-effort with the newly-appointed Prime Minister of Ashla, and she was really looking forward to working alongside her dear companion and political partner.

She didn't look up but listened intently as Isla shared details regarding standard operating protocol and what she could expect. "Sounds great, Prime Minister…" She then paused, looking up and giving Isla a warm smile, "Congratulations, by the way." She then went back to her studies. She wanted to get this right. Desperately.

"We should have a chat with the volunteers at the foundation, the commander of Knave 5 is quite concerned that their packing skills have left a few things floating loose about. A kind word, obviously, would not want to put them of volunteering of course."

"Hmm? Oh, my apologies. Perhaps we could schedule a debrief with your Captains and the Foundation Overseers after this in order to iron out some of the growing pains of our joint collaboration." Her eyes never lifted form the datapads as she continued to mutter the Charon greeting to herself. She finally stood to her feet, beginning to pace back and forth, adjusting her stance and breathing in deeply as she straightened her back, raised her chin, and attempted yet again to make the noises that were so foreign to her human body…

<Click click scratch squeal click squeal scratch…> she paused, looking over at the protocol droid with a raised eyebrow, curious if she had finally nailed it. The protocol droid looked at Tiresh, then at Isla, then back at Tiresh… finally it sighed, "...Sure, thats it."

Tiresh lowered her head with a frown, "Your lying…"

"It's good enough for a human. They will get the general idea of what you are wanting to communicate."

Tiresh nodded... Guess it will have to do. She was wearing an elaborate golden dress with an embroidered pattern prominent throughout the design. She was representing the Alliance for the first time to this species, and so she needed to make a good impression. The population represented by this colony was well over 100,000 and it would be ideal for the Alliance to be embraced by the entire planets population. She needed to alleviate any concerns they might still carry towards an Alliance occupation.

She stood and looked our the window as tall cliffs whipped past them at high speed. "you ready for our first joint mission then?"

Tiresh walked over next to Isla, looking out the window as they approached the beach, "Yes, very much so." She said as she brought her hand up and played with the snowflake necklace that rested against her neck. It was a subtle motion, and there was no expression that changed on Tiresh's face, but the gesture was intended to confirm to Isla the affection that Tiresh still felt towards the Grand Admiral.

"We should be subtle with our military presence and the amount of forces that are seen by the delegation of Charon leaders… They are already on edge… I would hate for their perception to be one of a massive foreign occupation of their planet. That of coarse is not the case, but they are skittish as it is. We just need to be careful is all."

white.png

The Knave transports descended onto the beach, a storm of sand being whipped up from their approach. The ramp descended as the delegation made their way down the ramp. A part of their accompaniment was the protocol droid which would serve as their translator as well as a small media crew. In a way, this was a historic event… a first contact with this species that had been marred by violence and fear… gripped in the clutches of a death cult that had kept them hostage for a very long time. This was not only a humanitarian effort for a colony in need, it was also an official welcoming of the species into the galactic scene and a warm encouragement towards greater liberty and freedom disconnected from their bloody and traumatic past.

Tiresh raised her hand in greeting towards the Jedi representative ( Keiran Varn Keiran Varn ) along with the rest of the delegation from the New Jedi Order who had seemingly just arrived before them.

"Greetings, Jedi!" She called out and offered her hand to Keiran Varn Keiran Varn once she finally made her way down the ramp, "Senator Kobitana of Lujo. So grateful for the New Jedi Order's representation at this historic event. I believe you have a gift for the delegation of the Charon, is that accurate?"

She also saw Seto Du Couteau Seto Du Couteau on the beach as well. This was her first connect with the Senator outside of the Senate Chambers. she smiled and waved towards him, "Senator Couteau!" She called out.

Word of an envoy being sent with supplies to support the Charon colony has caused mixed retractions inside the GA territories. Some praise the GA government with this decision, hoping to better the relationship between the two factions since the new information on Charon's leaders has caused a glimmer of hope of everlasting peace between the two through communication, understanding, and knowledge exchange. Others, however, felt that the Charon's leaders were not to be trusted, citing the recently acquired information on them being skeptical at best as well as fearing that the colony could still attack the GA as the mindless killers that they are led to believe.

The GA defense force leaders took note of the latter's concerns and have sent two squads, all Infantry, along with as a precaution in case something were to happen to the envoy and The Charon was to attack. The Charon were told beforehand that the squads were coming to make sure everything went fine. Barr was apart of this squad standing information along with the rest of the soldiers.

Barr knew that some of the soldiers were experienced in battle which ease his mind a bit. He knew he was good, his father made sure of that, but having some experienced soldiers around him made him feel more comfortable being around the Charon and on the planet. His views on the Charon were admitted mixed. He knew to take what he heard about them with a grain of salt, but as he was taught in the past by his mother and father, information is normally key in any type of battle. Whether as a senator or as a soldier. But Barr also believes in seeing for himself on something when coming up with his own opinions.

From looking over at the holograms of the Charons, Barr was a bit discussed it at the site and could see how they could be portrayed as monsters but he knew better than to judge a book by its cover. He and the rest of the squads stood nearby the envoy, making sure everything went well.

Her immediate attention was on the mission at hand and making sure to follow Valery's instructions down to the letter.

This would be her first real test of skill, a massive exercise to see just how well she could put into practice what she'd learned since coming under her Master's tutelage, save her wayward incident with the Sithspawn.

Iris was with them and had been on far more excursions than Briana by this point, something that once would have caused a shadow of jealousy for her fellow Padawan, but was relieved to find that she'd grown to a point that she no longer wanted to embrace that side of her emotions. Instead, she was grateful that someone with a bit more experience under their belt was accompanying them, especially one whom she could truthfully say she trusted above all others.

Finishing the last of her preparations before they landed, the young Sal-Soren geared up and took her position behind Valery, side by side with Iris.

With a hiss, the door of the transport they were onboard opened. "Hey," she gently nudged Iris before they left, producing a comlink that she pressed into the palm of the other girls hand. "You almost forgot this... we'll need it in case we get separated for any reason." Unclipping the saber from her belt, Briana held it a loft in the event that the action started as soon as they stepped off the transport. "Well, let's get this show on the road then, huh?" She said with an annoyingly cheeky grin and perhaps more enthusiasm than was appropriate. Though, for anyone who knew Briana, would be able to discern that the show of bravado was just that, a show.

A common tactic to mask whatever nervous feeling had settled in her gut.

The sudden collapse of the Confederacy had left the southern systems in disarray. Worlds accustomed to protection, order, and reliable trade found themselves isolated, each scrambling to secure their borders and reestablish relations with their neighbours. Old rivalries kept in check by their Confederate bond had boiled to the surface as chaos spread throughout the region. Whoever reunited the once-thriving industrial centres of power stood to make countless credits

Aerarii Tithe intended to be that person.

The prior order of business - a vote on agriculture exportation quality standards - passed without concern of opposition. The Southern Interplantary Linkages Trade Route Bill - the Silk Road Bill - was introduced to the chamber. Owing to the traditionally non-partisan nature of the Chancellor’s office, a good Chancellor would have delegated the Bill to a colleague to avoid any perceived of conflict of interest.

As such, Tithe elected to introduce the Bill himself.

“The anarchy erupting to south, flowing across worlds long friendly to the Alliance, disturbs me greatly,” Tithe lied. He’d held no love for the Confederacy and little attachment to its worlds. “To see once-great planets fall into turmoil, well, it just-.” He paused for dramatic effect, feinting distress at current affairs. “It is too much to bear.”

“With the GADF fully engaged to our west, the Alliance finds itself regrettably - yes most regrettably - stretched far too thin to help with these much needed rebuilding efforts.”
That any military or intelligence assets not finding the Brotherhood were instead engaged against the New Imperial Order went unsaid. “But, my fellow legislators, a solution may yet be found to this quandary.”

“Select - and let me be very clear - select corporate interests could reopen these important trade routes much more quickly and help maintain order. Why, the Core is home to the finest and most upstanding corporations in the galaxy. They would be well equipped to do this important, important world, easing the pressure on the Alliance coffers and our valiant GADF defenders. My fellow Senators, I can on your support to help rebuild the southern systems to restore peace and prosperity.”

The newly elected Member for Constancia sought recognition and warned that some corporations may seek their profits to the detriment of the locals. “Yes I much prefer the term partner,” Tithe explained. “As that is what we are seeking in this ventures - like-minded partners to help rebuild the southern systems. Of course, careful checks and thorough enquires will be conducted before any licence or agreement is signed.”

Tithe found a surprising ally in the Member for Byss, also making their freshman appearance, who argued in favour of allowing corporations to reestablish trade and commerce in their neighbouring systems. “Indeed, why, many of these organisations have outstanding track records,” Tithe added while managing to keep a straight face.

Vera had her fingers in a ton of pies these days. Identities she took great care to conceal.

For example, her guise as "Alice" she functioned as an underworld Spy/Assassin for hire. She sometimes did jobs for the GA and SIA working freelance.

Alice was aboard her IPV-2C Stealth Corvette, just outside the Kayri system, in the process of receiving yet more upgrades. Alice's body had received extensive Cybernetic and Genetic Modifications already--the current guise she used had most of them active as a necessity, as her infiltration settings were closed to over clocked already, in order better stabilize it's body in order to keep it from breaking down quite so quickly. And to make her one of the greatest infiltrators ever.

The Maw had become an omnipresent threat, striking everywhere they could. Setbacks at Jedha, and elsewhere made them rattled. There were rumors of a Maw attack being planned to disrupt negotiations between the GA and the Charon.

SIA had detected a compound hidden underground, close to the colony itself. She was to sneak into it, and kill whoever was inside

Her body lay open from surgery on the table in the med bay, the manipulator arms installing miniaturized upgrades to both her brain and internal organs. All had to be carefully calibrated as they were installed. The more upgrades she took the more freakish she became. Not in looks...far too much money had been sunk into her design to keep her looking human no matter the upgrades...but in the sense she was starting to blur the line between the purely supernatural and the technological.

"Alice" for her part, made smarter by these upgrades, was beginning to question the wisdom of it.

Near endlessly adaptive and modifiable, nearly any sort of upgrade could be implanted in her. She even had emergency back up repair systems in case her own were not working. She had even acquired a secondary cyber heart.

But with the lethality of the current situation her mother found herself in now that the CIS was gone, Vera knew it likely wasn't the last Upgrades she would receive.

Besides, she was taking considerable risk as it was...

Alice was also pondering the merits of her technology. Doing things that were considered moral still felt odd and discomforting. But she was trying.

With a whine, the arms ceased their work, and began ceiling her back up, her flesh rapidly healing...

(Alice Received New Upgrades!)

Upgrade: SHADOW CLOAK

Generates a shadow field around body that scrambles voice and conceals identity. Must remain still. Can only be active 7 Minutes

Upgrade: COMMUNICATION WAVE DESCRAMBLE DEVICE

Miniaturized device that descrambles enemy communication

Upgrade STEALTH FIELD REINFORCEMENT TECHNOLOGY

Miniaturized Comprehensive upgrade that refines stealth fields and makes them easier distinguish the environment around them

Upgrade: RETINAL DISGUISE UPGRADE

Upgrade that allows Vera to disguise her retinal patterns as someone else's. Requires 7 seconds eye contact

Upgrade: MISSILE DEACTIVATION TRANSMITTER

Miniature device that tries to deactivate both missiles and rockets fired at Vera. Can only be used 4 times in a row before needing to recharge it's power supply

Upgrade: SENSOR SCRAMBLER DEVICE

Miniature device that constantly scrambles sensors in Vera's guise as Alice

Upgrade: LOCK THREAT WARNING SYSTEM

Miniature device that warns Vera when a Missile lock has been acquired on her

Upgrade: COUNTER DETECTIVE

Miniature device that warns Vera when her transmissions are being listened to.

Alice sealed up rapidly and then put on her specialized, revealing spy gear. Her body was rapidly integrating the slew of new upgrades but the stress of surgery require she feed.

This was her favorite part of the day...

The slim, pale android with red hair headed over to the closet, where her victim was tied up. He was an Enclave Mandalorian. His corpse would go into the incinerator once she was done.

Stripped of his armor, bound and gagged, he looked up in horror as her fangs slid out and a terrible snarl built in her throat. His death was both protracted and painful. It took minutes. She enjoyed every second of his demise, as she was still working out the whole thing about "morality".

Alice was soon heading to a docked shuttle, a Pilot Droid to take her down to the surface. In mid atmosphere, close to the ground she jumped, her retrofitted bio repulsor Cells activating and letting her land gently outside the dangerous exteriors of the colony itself, close to where the entrance to this supposed Maw terror cell's hideaway, cleverly concealed near a natural formation of rock. She began detecting multiple sensors, activating her suit's stealth field in response, X-Ray eyes spotting a hidden entrance...

Her hunger started to build again and Alice wondered just how protracted she could make it...

Admittedly, she had not been paying too much attention while the Senate debated and voted on new quality controls on agricultural exports. She had voted in favor of them because better quality food was better for everyone, especially if it arrived at its destination in better shape. However, her full attention was roused as the Chair announced the next order of business, one that the Chancellor was sponsoring and bringing to the floor himself.

Scanning the bill briefly as it came up on her datapad, she listened to the speech from Tithe and had to suppress a snort. Soraya, seated next to her as her foremost aide, could not. Behind her, she could the twinkling sound of her daughter's laugh that was quickly quieted. She couldn't believe for one moment that Tithe cared about the people or any chaos in the south. He saw credit signs, and this was a prime opportunity to make an obscene amount of credits while strengthening the Alliance without investing huge sums of taxpayer money into the project.

The new member from Constancia was worried about exploitation, and the new member from Byss seemed all-in on supporting the bill. It was certainly an attractive prospect. Her own interests had already been in Confederate space before it collapsed, and this would be an opportunity to quietly spread it further. Her gaze briefly moved to the IGBC pod and Veles Oshu Veles Oshu .

But, she had to keep up appearances and engagement. She signaled the Chair she wished to ask a question to the Chancellor.

"The bill seems rather broad, Chancellor," she started. "Broad is good though, and if we can bring stability and prosperity back to the southern systems, then all the better. However, I note that the bill is also somewhat vague in places. What companies did you have in mind that we could approach for the initial round of investments and construction, and do we have a list of objectives or priorities for the waves of expansions?"

Isla smiled at the advice from her partner about keeping military presence minimal, that made a lot of sense, her marines would be providing most of the support from civilian models of speeders for that very reason. She had plenty of her Sister's ready at a moments notice if they needed extraction or fire support. Thumbing handle of her Sabre she was nervous. Isla was military first, Tiresh was humanitarian first.

As they walked to the ramp she reached over and gently touched her friend's upper arm in discrete affection. "I will step back a little, these are your people here, but I am right beside you if you need me." It wouldn't be proper for this foreign military commander to go out throwing her weight about day one, maybe when she had more of a name in Alliance circles, other than her name as Prime Minister of The Ashlan Crusade of course.

The shuttle ramp opened and Tiresh proceeded out whilst Isla stood for a few moments surveying the scene. Several Ashlan armoured vehicles had set up a perimeter around her ships and the Marines, along with Kobitana staff were stacking boxes of relief supplies into pop up tents and loading them into the speeders.

Tiresh greeted several other dignitaries as she walked out onto the beach. Once Isla felt it was clear who was leading she followed. Holding her pad, "Senator Kobitana, our personnel are deployed and ready to move out at your request. This is probably our best route, staying north of this river gives them an easy way to leave the AO if they desire, this should hopefully make them feel less threatened. I have taken all precautions to minimise risk to our people, but risk will still be present, so please be careful." she looked at Barr Vexos Barr Vexos and his soldiers. "I am Draellix, I assume you are here for personal protection duties? It is good to meet you, I will assign one of my Marines to accompany you as a liason of that is acceptable? They will follow your orders up until the point they contradict mine." if he accepted she would issue the order mentally via her AI and a male marine would join the alliance soldiers.

That seemed like everything she needed to brief the dignitaries on, she crossed her fingers and made a prayer to Ashla that this would go well then waited for the instructions to move out as the speeder prepared for them approached their position.

Iris nodded once. Valery Noble Valery Noble knew just what they needed to do. Or, well. Paid attention to what they needed to do? The Padawan wasn't sure if she should've known about the village that went quiet herself before Master Noble told them. When did Valery learn about it? Could Iris have and she was too distracted? That was the point that mattered. If she missed more information because her head was in the cloud of colors, well.

She didn't want to be that person.

Though, Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren pulled her head out of her doubts as they were about to exit the shuttle. She blinked, looking to her wrist where she normally put the com. Sure enough, she'd forgotten it. Again. A frown settled on her lips, but only briefly before her gaze again turned to Briana. Looking her fellow Padawan right in the eye, as she'd done before.

"We got this." Then she clipped on the com and headed down the ramp, Domxite in hand.

All at once, all she felt was death. The colors, or lack there of, surrounding them. She felt.. Cold. Iris stopped on the ramp, her grip tightening on the hilt of her blade. No one was alive, that much she could tell.

"I don't like this."

Naturally, the politically savvy Praji Sentor had warned Chancellor Tithe that introducing such a precarious bill into the Senate without another sponsor would likely spell doom for the legislation. This possibility was particularly potent as the legislation itself dealt with matters that benefited his corporatist roots. "This is a bad idea, Chancellor," she distinctly remembered saying as he was drafting the bill in his office. She was not entirely certain he'd heard her and if he had he did not take much heed to her warnings. Yet, as the Chancellor's podium rose to the great heights of the Senate Chamber, there she stood, obediently, beside Aerarrii.

"This was a bad idea, Chancellor," she repeated her previous warning out of the side of her mouth before calling the Senate to order and bringing his bill to the floor. The ensuing debate between the members of Constancia, Byss, and Arkania required no intervention on her behalf and she watched with a distant detachment at the half-hearted support for the bill. "I am not certain I will be able to secure the Federalist vote... their concerns about the Corporatist kickbacks engrained in the bill have riled the caucus," she continued quietly, watching the disdainful expressions on her colleagues' faces.

"But... maybe..." her voice trailed off as she considered her options for swaying the still widely popular centralist voting bloc that she had brought together to support Tithe's continuing control of the Senate.

Others said their peace, from the elected to the 'elected' - until Dorian finally had a chance to make his own peace. Many spoke of alliance loyal corporations consolidating the administrative fallout of the Confederate destruction; but with the Trade Federation nigh on a puppet of the New Imperial Order, the Republic Engineering Corps defunct and bankrupt, and the only other viable corporate interests even capable of such already busy with the proposal, he couldn't help but see this as less a ploy to expand the Alliance's economic interest as much as it was to subsidize a new semi-nationalized corporation into the Galactic Fortune 500.
So, he would call their bluff on it.
Thus far they had been adversarial to the IGBC's work in the Core and abroad - no doubt from Aerarii Tithe Aerarii Tithe 's own hand. Afterall, he did stonewall their efforts to manipulate the Sith Empire's economy when he reigned as their economic director, he wouldn't be suprised were he to be actively doing the same within the Alliance.
"Director Dorian Harper claims his time.", another said as Dorian's pod floated forward.
The Man-Who-Sold-The-Galaxy stood and cleared his throat.
"Historically, one of the few corporations the Alliance has open dialogue with - that has clear relations with the effected worlds - is the IGBC. It would just so happen that for years prior, the IGBC served as a trade administrative industry within Confederate space, either owning large stakes in their largest corporations, serving their Government as a fiscal advisor and facilitator, or otherwise keeping close ties with Viceroys and Senatorial members.", he began.
"Many of the planets within already work on the premise and trade regulations of the banking clan - no doubt they will continue to do so. For the sake of economic expedience and transitional ease, it would be the IGBC's request to actively work on behalf of the Galactic Alliance on their efforts in previous Confederate space. Subsidies, trade contracts - the fine details can be worked out, but taking the lion share of the work alongside smaller Alliance corporate interests may best serve the Senate as a whole - and in turn, the war effort against the terrorists of the Maw."

Auteme had a great respect for Aerarii Tithe, even though she knew it was misplaced. Perhaps there was still some naivety in her; she remembered their unfortunate excursion on Bastion and the ensuing escape, followed soon by his quick rise in the Senate. Stepping into the role of Chancellor hadn't made her think twice. But, when she looked, there were reminders of what he was.

Some people weren't harmful, but they could certainly be wrong. How many wrongs it took to harm...

She watched the director of the IGBC from her pod. Halfway through his speaking time she leaned forward and pushed her own hoverpod forward, signaling to the Chancellor's podium she wished to speak -- and as a subtle way to distract from and undercut Harper's proposal. Almost as soon as he was done she began, making sure to speak loudly and clearly, bringing to bear the elegance, wit, and strength she'd learned over the many years she'd been in the halls of the Senate.

"I echo our most esteemed Chancellor's feelings on the turmoil to the south -- the billions that struggle in the face of political collapse, each feels like a dagger through the heart," she said, feigning sadness. She was about as convincing as Tithe, but admittedly it was more for the theatre than the genuine feeling; the latter, she forcibly buried. "Truly, we must do anything necessary to ensure the safety of these people, and offer them a new, safer home as part of our most esteemed community.

"I think this bill has genuine merit. As the Director of the IGBC so helpfully pointed out, putting corporations in charge of reopening trade and reconnecting these worlds would be especially effective given the Confederacy's former abundance of corporate corruption and overrepresentation in their political system."
She paused a moment, then smiled to Director Harper, as though sending him the thought: You'll be the first to go. Of course, she was generous, and shared the smile around to the few other corporate representatives present. "A clever idea from our Chancellor.

"However, I'm hesitant to support this bill, not only for the reasons brought forward by the Member for Constancia,"
another smile, this one more genuine, "but also for the precedent this may set. If these people and worlds are ones the Alliance intends to support, should it not be the Alliance that supports them, not our 'partners'?" She added a touch of venom to the word. "Our response to such turmoil cannot be divided or inconsistent; even as select as these corporations may be, the effectiveness of this proposal will doubtless vary from one to the next.

"I should think that the former citizens of the Confederacy would remember how fragile a state held together by corporations is."

She paused a moment, ending her more negative tone in favor of a more patriotic tenor to underscore her next point. "Our approach should be different. We are the Galactic Alliance. We are a united by common purpose and interest, and it is unity that we should present to the fractured galactic south. When we greet these worlds, we should put our best foot forward, not throw a bargain-sale Trade-Federation-brand shoe.

"This may be difficult, given how easy and expeditious a quick corporate romp might seem, but it is in the Alliance's best interest to ensure that no more chaos is caused on these worlds, and their people feel welcome and safe when they are invited to the Alliance. A more comprehensive plan should be created -- I would suggest the formation of a special committee to determine the best course of action."

The woman who'd helped Julius Loghain Julius Loghain ascend on Kuat was not kept waiting in the public-facing lobby of the agency's headquarters. Within minutes of her arrival, her appointment had been confirmed, and a sharp-dressed attendant had swept from somewhere unseen into the room with high-backed chaises, a glass-top table, and blue Alderaanian starflowers in a vase.

Everything was immaculate, linear, and cold. Corners were sharp angles, the turbo lift's doors were so spotless the pair's reflection was mirrored back to them. This was the entire agency. Clean and quiet.

There was barely a shift in lighting when the doors to one of M's many offices slid open to grant access to the Chiss inside. Behind the desk, her elegant frame lifted from the chair and rose to stand and gesture at the seat across from her by way of welcoming introduction.

"I trust your travels were unbothered?" M greeted the dictator as soon as the woman was introduced to the room. As she spoke, a droid whirred into the room with a decanter and two glasses of water on a tray.

Ruby eyes watched as the vessels were set down.

"Perhaps you'd like something stronger? You seem the type."
