- “Base-Delta-Zero”
In the bygone days of Palpatine's Galactic Empire, the code “Base Delta Zero” was used to order full-scale bombardment; conveying the intent to reduce all life and infrastructure into molten slag. The Resurgent-class Mk. III Star Destroyer is the physical personification of that order today. She is very capable of single-handedly decimating planetary targets, and in reducing enemy starships to rubble and ash with her overwhelming firepower. - Force Projection
While not a dedicated fleet carrier, the Resurgent possesses an above average hangar bay. She is capable of deploying a considerable number of fighter and bomber squadrons, as well as support craft in the form of landers and gunships to support planetary incursions. In short, when a Resurgent-III enters a starsystem, they will soon feel the full measure of the First Order’s influence. - Mobile Fortress
With her multi-layer armor paneling and robust countermeasure systems, the Resurgent-III is a veritable fortress with engines and a hyperdrive. She is capable of weathering significant punishment, even against enemies possessing numerical superiority.
- Limited
Due to the advanced technology and sheer level of armaments the Resurgent-III possesses, this class of starship is produced in limited quantities. While this does not mean they cannot be deployed in force within a fleet, doing so would equal the dedication of considerable resources on the part of the First Order - indicating that the situation is of great importance to High Command. Resurgent-III star destroyers are not commonly deployed as massed ‘ships of the line’, but rather heavy assault vessels or flagships. - Lumbering
Given her size and compact tonnage, the Resurgent-III is neither fast nor particularly maneuverable, and can be easily outpaced by smaller and more agile vessels. While her considerable armament can help compensate for this, and she is more than capable of operating on her own; escort ships are preferred to mitigate this weakness. - Advanced Subsystems
Although her advanced systems provide notable advantages, they do require regular maintenance and upkeep; which in turn requires all Resurgent-III’s to maintain a considerable crew of trained and experienced technicians. Should she suffer severe attritional damage among the crew, and be forced into a prolonged deployment thereafter - many of her systems could fall into disrepair and increased inefficiencies as a result.
Under the reign of the Galactic Empire, Imperial-class Star Destroyers pockmarked the galaxy as visible symbols of the state’s authority, and for nearly a millennia since, variations of such warships have served similar purposes. As the First Order rises anew, she brings with it a new imagining of an old but formidable class of Star Destroyer - the Resurgent-class Mk. III. Its predecessor under the original First Order of Supreme Leader Snoke was in excess of the Anaxes War College standard, built more like a battlecruiser in lieu of a true star destroyer with a hull over 2.9 kilometers in length. But with the advancement of technology and engineering, the Resurgent-III stands as a true star destroyer in tonnage, but possesses an armament capable of punching well above its weight even still. As the shadows cast by her triangular hull wash across the surface of any planet, her populace should know that they stand on the precipice of utter annihilation. The Resurgent-III has enough firepower to decimate everything from a small colony, to opposing fleets within the void of space - bringing peace and true order through the barrel of her overwhelming arsenal. Yet in situations where firepower alone is not sufficient to the task, she can also deploy a considerable starfighter contingent to supplement thousands of embarked forces, ready for planetary deployment at will. Just as the First Order quietly resurfaces from the shadows, so too does this legendary ship class; primed to expand upon her formidable reputation.
