ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Orbonne-class medivacs are heavily armored and shielded, making use of the three-layered Golem Advanced Plating and the four-layered Kirin Shielding System, all the better to protect the patients and wounded the dropships are typically transporting. In addition, the dropship is equipped with several defensive countermeasures and a dual Valefor laser cannon turret for additional protection from attackers targeting the dropship.
  • Orbonne-class medivacs make use of two Phoenix Ion Engines for enhanced speeds and maneuverability, ensuring the dropship is nimble enough to avoid attacking fighter craft and to speedily deliver patients to awaiting medical facilities or hospital ships.
  • While it does not boast a full medical suite like what could be found in a medbay on a hospital ship or ground facility, the Orbonne-class medivac is equipped with four bacta tanks and several pieces of medical equipment that can provide on sight medical aid or emergency triage to its potential forty-eight passengers.
WEAKNESSES
  • While the Orbonne-class medivac is equipped with a dual Valefor laser cannon, that is the dropship's only armaments. An Orbonne-class medivac has to make use of its defensive shielding and hull plating combined with its impressive speeds and maneuverability to avoid attackers.
  • If the Phoenix Ion Engine's internal molecular furnace becomes sabotaged, it can cause a chain reaction that can consume the engine that will utterly destroy it.
  • Due to the shield emitters of the Kirin being scattered across the hull, if parts of the hull become damaged, gaps can form in the overlapping shield layers of the dropship.
DESCRIPTION

Developed as part of Aurora Industries' Highwind Program, the Orbonne-class Medical Dropship was designed for the rapid insertion of medical personnel into combat zones and to provide a safe and durable transport for medical teams to move patients or provide emergency medical aid. As the vessel was the company's first foray into a medical transport, no expense was spared in developing the dropship and the design team was allowed to make use of any of the company's developed technologies for its creation.

To facilitate the desired defensive capabilities of the ship, the three-layered Golem Advanced Plating was utilized for the hull and the ship was equipped with a Kirin Shielding System to give the dropship four different layers of shielding. The Orbonne-class was also equipped with two Phoenix Ion Engines to give it enhanced speed and maneuverability, along with several defensive countermeasures and a dual Valefor Laser Cannon turret on top of the ship.

The Orbonne-class, as a medical transport, had four bacta tanks installed into its main hold along with forty-eight diagnostic beds for transporting patients. Additional medical equipment such as antidote synthesizers and tissue analyzers were also installed to allow the onboard medical personnel or droids to perform analysis and emergency synthesis of cures for soldiers suffering from biological weapons or poisons. The ship also has space for four ALBATROSS Triage Drones, or in the future, the next generation of medical drone developed by the company.
