• Description: Lightning Squadron is an elite armoured assault formation under the 501st Legion of the New Imperial Military. Deriving it's name from it's lightning fast strikes and the archaic clone wars unit, it has a feared reputation for its ruthless efficiency in carrying out the orders of the Imperator. Highly skilled and trained walker pilots and fearless stormtroopers make up the bulk of the unit, they work with fast moving tank commanders who collectively strike fear into the hearts of their enemies.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Lightning Squadron can trace back their ancestry to the Clone Wars. The armoured unit Lighting 'Squadron' was part of the 91st Reconnaissance Corps under General Mace Windu.

Hundreds of years later, the unit that would become Lightning Squadron served under the Imperator during his service with the Sith-Imperials. They participated in those battles before following Irveric Tavlar to form the New Imperial Order. During the years of the NIO's fight for independence, they served within the 501st as a non consolidated armoured part of the famous Legion. After the fateful Battle of Bastion, the decision was made to form the unit, with Brigadier General Lyman Fordyce at it's head.

Comprising of some of the best walker pilots of the 501st and the Imperial Military, it fields a force of the feared AT-SBs and TXT-XT-60B Cataphract Tanks which have been known to plow through enemy defenses. Also equipped with a complement of stormtroopers, they can be deployed anywhere to provide armoured support.
